should have named it Zimavirus. I preferred it when it was referred to as Sars.
also, I quit drinking Corona Extra years ago when I realised how much it taste like sweat.

Well, SARS was caused by a different strain of coronavirus. Also, I thought I saw somewhere that the whole Corona beer things was a hoax/misinformation or something. Still, considering how stupid some people can be, I wouldn't be surprised if it is 100% true. I don't drink Corona (or any other alcohol for that matter) as it all tastes awful or wose to me.

People are avoiding Chinese restaurants verbally abusing Asians here in NYC, so I believe it’s not a hoax.

I think Burgh meant just the Corona beer thing was maybe fake news.

Womens world hockey championships which were to be held in Canada have been cancelled.

One of biggest sporting events in NA so far I've heard of which has been cancelled. Obviously this is far from the level of a major pro sporting event, but with all the talk of possibly having empty arena games, makes me wonder how long before we actually have one of them do that.

Although imo, theres no need right now to cancel things over here. People have to start having better hygiene. The fact that many things happening now didnt happen before goes to show how poorly people or companies paid attention to hygiene.

I saw on the news that they're regularly cleaning busses and trains. So you're telling me before all this stuff happened we didnt have major public transportation vehicles cleaned regularly? No surprise, but it shouldn't have taken something like this to force that change.

Same with companies making sure they have hand sanitizer and more soap. And people actually having to be told to wash hands multiple times a day, and how to wash hands properly. Again, before the virus they didnt do this? Its something which should've happened all along.

we're less than 3 weeks than season opener Rangers @ Mariners. next week and a half will be telling. as it stands now, wouldn't be surprised it affects this game in some form function or fashion

NBA sent out a memo to all the teams mentioning they could be playing in empty stadiums in the near future.

Lebron already said if it's a empty stadium, I'm not playing. I play for the fans and my teammates.

Some of you may know I work in the Recruiting Industry and I have a few groups I follow on FB.

Here was a question that I knew was arriving soon:

I’m in hospitality recruiting and started to see hiring freezes this week. Any of you noticed companies curtailing their recruiting because of the virus?

11 of the 12 responses have been a yes so far.

One company said they are seriously considering going to a video for interviewing format.

Re: CDC Officials Warn of Coronavirus Outbreaks in the United States.

If you grew up on public transportation, especially living on the poor side of a major city, then you always known they didn't clean buses and subway trains on a daily basis. As soon as you walked on the bus it smelled like piss and you saw stuff on the floor. Walk into the subway tunnel underground and the entire underground tunnel smell like decades old hot piss. So public transportation was always a germ buffet. You would be happy if the AC or heater was actually working on the bus or train you got on. Depending on the route, you had a high chance of it not working.

That is why I always told people, don't judge a city or it's mass transit system on what you see downtown. What you see downtown is not the norm. Go to the neighborhoods where the middle class and lower class living at. You would clearly see the trains and buses are no where near as clean or maintained like the downtown routes are.

Go to the bathroom at any store or fast food place, it be dirty most of the time. Even hospital bathrooms be dirty at times, especially the ones on the first floor. So yeah, hygiene has always been a problem. Like think about how many times you were in a public bathroom and see people walk out without washing their hands. Those are just the ones you seen, now imagine how many other people on a daily basis have done it.

What people haven't talked about and should think about is how many homeless people have been infected. That is a number that probably will never be known. Think about it. Just like people should be thinking about how many over the road truck drivers have been infected. Let one of those over the road truck drivers or homeless get infected, it would really spread like wildfire. Those OTR drivers travel thousands of miles a week, hit up truck stops, casinos, strip clubs, etc during that week.

Sad thing is Adam Silver probably heard the LeBron quote and his first thought was like, "uh oh, guess that might not be an option."

IMO you cheapen your brand playing in front of a non-existing live audience. if the NFL is the gold standard, you think, except for the Jaguars, the NFL would put on a game at an empty stadium? I still rue the day the Orioles did this in 2015. should have put that game off like they did the rest of that series vs the White Sox IMO

I find the stocking up toilet paper hilarious. Since moving to Philippines most bathrooms have a detachable bidet and its much cleaner than having to wipe your *** and putting **** on your fingers, plus you’re not creating more waste.

Not freaking out over here, and we are literally next to China and there are so many Chinese people coming here to work.

I guess having to deal with Volcanoes, Earthquakes, Typhoons, getting dengue from mosquitoes I got immuned from the hysteria. My mom almost died from getting dengue but that doesn’t stop her from living in paradise.

Also i get in a car almost everyday where someone dies from that every second of the day.

Wash your hands, eat healthy and exercise.

Indian Wells tennis now cancelled too. For non tennis fans, that's the 5th biggest event of the tennis calendar. The biggest of all the non grand slam events. Takes place in California.

Could also lead to Coachella being cancelled too.

The scariest part to me is that we don’t really know how many people here are truly infected because 1) there aren’t enough test kits, 2) people are being told if you exhibit flu-like symptoms to stay home and self-quarantine

Saying that the virus is “contained” at this point is just panic-protection.

I think we’re a week away from many places closing schools, jobs telling folks who can work from home to do so.

The virus is really hampering us at work.

I work for a electronic component distributor and some of our parts, and most used/ordered parts, are made overseas. Due to the spread of the disease, we are seeing lead times increase anywhere from a range 4 weeks to infinite, meaning they don't know when they will re-start production.

I know the primary focus is on one's health, but the economic impact this virus is having is starting to get concerning.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(
