Grocery store shelves were basically back to normal today at the store i went to, except for toilet paper and paper products.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

Good to here. I need to stock up for the shut down that is probably going to happen this week or next week in the rest of Florida.Comment

Re: CDC Officials Warn of Coronavirus Outbreaks in the United States.
Yeah same here in the Philly area.
Just like hospitals aren’t set up to take on thousands of people in such a short span of time, grocery stores aren’t stocked for everyone to buy multiple packs of TP and meat all at once. I do believe supply chains have been affected a bit, but after the initial rush things are just lower in stock instead of completely sold out.
We called ahead and got the scoop on what things were looking like generally so we didn’t expose ourselves to an unnecessary trip.
I’ve typically bought 3-4 dinners at a time. Stretching it to about 7 now so we’re only in the store once a week or less.
An old folks’ home right down the street had an outbreak so the virus has really hit home. Found myself doing stupid **** like holding my breath as I drove past. Yeah, that’ll do the trick... lolNHL - Philadelphia Flyers

It still amazes me that people are still out here hoarding TP, lol#RespectTheCultureComment

Heck. Just mention snow and people go grab milk, eggs, and bread like they won't be able to go to the store for a week. People's response to this isn't all that surprising.

Re: CDC Officials Warn of Coronavirus Outbreaks in the United States.
Our Governor Doug "Do Nothing" Ducey FINALLY issued a stay-at-home order.
I've been going crazy so I'll leave my house to go workout at my gym (obviously not letting anyone in) or just drive around nowhere to be out of the house and it drives me insane to see how many people are just gathered at the basketball courts and parks like it's ****ing spring break.
Edit: Apparently people can still go out though as long as they stay 6 feet apart...so I don't think anything really changed at all except that maybe now nail and hair salons have to close?Last edited by cima; 03-30-2020, 04:48 PM.Comment

Re: CDC Officials Warn of Coronavirus Outbreaks in the United States.
I saw a twitter news feed where a guy wrote an article on how South Korea has flattened their curve, but then started taking all kinds of shots at government leaders in the U.S. in our handling of this...
I did some research and discovered (that he never noted) that S. Korea population is (give or take) in the neighborhood of 52 million people. If you look at some U.S. numbers - that would be (again, ballpark) the equivalent here of Illinois, Ohio, Georgia, North Carolina and Michigan combined.
That's FIVE states out of the entirety of the United States. I would suggest that the South Korean population isn't the same as here in the U.S. If we only had to contain 5 states, that message (I beleve) would be given and received differently. It's really an apples-to-peaches type of scenario.
I just wish everyone, including our leaders, would stop with the finger pointing. I wish the journalists would stop with their stupid questions. Just get us the facts. Pull together and SOLVE this problem. I'm 47. In my lifetime this is the most fragmented and divided I've ever seen us in a moment of crisis. During 9/11 we had sports and patriotism. Now? NOTHING. The only thing we're trying to do is tell a virus what to do, and tell other people how wrong they are, and developing a horrific spending stimulus that has zero chance of really helping people who need it most.
Me? I'd create a bill where unemployment and small business needs are address. Where money is put fully into the safety of our healthcare and police officials. I haven't lost my job. My wife (grocery / bakery) has seen an uptick in her hours. Yet, I'll get a check and with 3 kids, it will be sizeable. I don't know what I'll do with it. I don't have much in retirement. What I do have has been killed in the stock market collapse of recent days. I'm torn - but I'll get it. And the truth is: someone out there needs it worse than me. This "but everyone will do the right thing" in a world that is often doing the wrong thing is a joke. Sorry for the rant...but this is a debacle on so many ends it's not even funny. From inept leadership to economic collapse to people who won't simply listen to directives and stay indoors.STEELERS INDIANS CELTICS

I agree with most of this - but I will say I was pleasantly surprised at how well our leaders across the federal government put together the stimulus package. It gave me hope through this. I have seen people come together locally and put political affiliation locally to support others where they can. In my state I've seen folks on both sides of the political spectrum praise our governor even though he may have a different letter next to his name than their beliefs.I saw a twitter news feed where a guy wrote an article on how South Korea has flattened their curve, but then started taking all kinds of shots at government leaders in the U.S. in our handling of this...

Personally my biggest disgust is with the news media and what passes as journalism these days. It's about getting a story out and getting the most clicks. And that applies regardless of viewpoint in my opinon.
That said, I just want to say there is hope out there. This won't be the end of the world. There will be difficulties (there already is), but we will get through this. The economy will rebound. We will come out stronger. I say that because without hope and faith of coming out the other side of this what else can we do? I'd rather focus as much as I can on the hopeful side of things. Not saying it's easy or that I havent had my own moments of panic - I had one last night and this morning - but I am going to keep pushing myself to be positive. It will get better.
Sorry if any of this crosses any TOS lines regarding politics, etc. If so I apologize and please delete.

Re: CDC Officials Warn of Coronavirus Outbreaks in the United States.
An old coworker sent me a snap this morning. It was her laptop on a counter so I asked where she was. She said she flew down to VA for a few days to hang with her bf (long distance thing) since she can work from home now because of the virus.

Sounds like she had a rough time. I think fear and anxiety of the unknown always makes things worse. Hopefully people who have these symptoms see that and know not to panic.Person is 28 and had COVID-19 from the UK and healthy. She describes each day on Twitter here:
