What I do have has been killed in the stock market collapse of recent days. I'm torn - but I'll get it. And the truth is: someone out there needs it worse than me. This "but everyone will do the right thing" in a world that is often doing the wrong thing is a joke. Sorry for the rant...but this is a debacle on so many ends it's not even funny. From inept leadership to economic collapse to people who won't simply listen to directives and stay indoors.
That's fantastic. It's unfortunate that this situation is finally offering some perspective to people (not saying you just turned around to this) as it should not take a ****ing pandemic to make people see the value in others, feel empathy, or want to build and strengthen their communities, state, and nation as a whole.

But yet here we are. We've elected the very leaders we're all complaining about. We throw our hands up in the air when they don't show responsibility or accountability to us, but then again we never hold them accountable and keep re-electing these ****s. Its usually those with the least that get pushed out the most. My biggest questions with this stimulus bill are: How is the money going to be dispersed to the homeless and those that were genuinely in need BEFORE this pandemic? If unemployment or minimum wage aren't enough NOW - why the hell did we decide it was enough for people before?

It'll be interesting to see how long these honeymoon emotions last. Locally, there's an incredible amount of support for our local businesses and employees who've lost their jobs right now. I just hope it continues and the support sustains itself in the future. Its easy to champion these things when you yourself need them and can benefit from them (corporations and big business do this **** all the ****ing time), but its something else when someone else needs it and you don't think it's worth it.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I have so many family and friends that are nurses this just makes me so sick to my stomach worrying about them.

Also there are so many Filipino nurses around the world battling the virus all over the world and right now over here my wife’s friends landlords are banning nurses from going to their apartments in fear they are carrying the virus.

So not only they are in the front line they are being band from their homes.

My heart goes out to them they are heroes.

Liquor stores are because we can't afford to have a large number of alcoholics go into withdrawal as many of them would end up in the hospitals and minimizing the load on the health care systems is the whole point of these measures. Dollar stores, at least over here in Quebec, is because they sell food.

Re: CDC Officials Warn of Coronavirus Outbreaks in the United States.

I saw my parents last night for the first time in three weeks. I'm having some computer issues and I went to borrow a laptop to hold us over a few weeks while my wife is home teaching kids and all my campus classes have shifted to online. I spent the better part of 4 years either out of State or overseas so I'm really really close with my parents now. My kids even more so than me and it's hard to explain to a 3 year old why they can't see their "nana and pawpaw" other than facetime.

I sanitized my hands before even getting to the door and I didn't sit down or touch anything really and the whole thing is awkward, but I don't want to be the cause of either getting the virus. My mom is still working every day and she has Lupus along with having her spleen removed when she was in her 20's. I'm almost mad at her for not telling her employer she needs to stay home. My dad is still working too and my mom is still grocery shopping and all kinds of other stuff, but generally speaking they are homebodies.

My own sister let my niece go stay at a friends house the other night. Hearing about that actually aggravated me a lot and I had to make myself not text her and tell her she's acting irresponsibly.

I just want people to stop pretending like the government is trying to control their ****ing life. I get that it's probably a lot worse for people in apartments. We have a front and back yard and my kids have plenty to entertain them so it's not the end of the world for us. I'm just tired of people being selfish and drumming up stupid conspiracies. The government didn't need a pandemic to tell you how to live your life.. they already do that in a lot of regards. People are acting like a few months of isolation is going to turn our country into Somalia or even Venezuela to a lesser extent.

My co worker told me the other day "If you get the virus be sure to cough on me first before you quarantine so I can spread this thing and get it over with." I gave him the GFY look.

Very sorry for your loss. But sadly, you are probably right. Healthcare workers don't have a choice when it comes to being around the infected and when they're overworked an exhausted it just weakens the immune system making it harder for them to fight off an infection.

As has been stated before, there are probably still a ton more cases who were asymptomatic and never got tested because they had no symptoms or only very mild non-specific symptoms.

                                In more personal news:

I have tested positive for the virus.

My quarantine starts over from the first day I started showing symptoms which was 3 days ago. Right now I'm not too bad (off/on low grade fever, cough, congestion, achy) and blood work and chest x-ray came back normal, so hopefully I only continue to deal with the minor symptoms.

                                Stay home folks...please stay home.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(
