I don't see myself doing any in-person events/rides/races this year (if any are even held), but will be taking part in the already announced virtual Pat's Run (4.2 miles in honor of Pat Tillman) in April.

I would like to double my overall mileage, both on my bikes (gravel and fat) and running. I also want to be sure to strength train 2x a week and be more diligent with stretching.

The pandemic has led to me discovering a passion for cooking, so looking forward to trying new recipes or coming up with my own.

Back at it for 2021, day 1 in the books.

COVID ruined my 76 days in a row streak in 2020, not looking to start that again LOL.. But want to get back at it and lose the pounds I put back on.

      Lets Goooo dang it...

I really indulged this holiday season so I'm gonna need to batten down the hatches here to start 2021. My 2021 fitness adventures (or misadventures) will start with getting a bit more measured with my diet.

I need to do something. Anything. I will die before I am 50 at the rate I am going.

Thank whoever is looking out for me that I do NOT have diabetes.

My goal is to definitely to do a handful of XC races and get my mileage back up. Was way down this year with the trails being closed for extended periods of times on 2 separate occasions.

We just had the Wild Azalea Challenge this past weekend but just being a little over a week from covid quarantine the fitness just isn't there right now.

Last year I did P90X2, LIIFT 4, and 6 Weeks of the Work (twice). Ya, I'm a beachbody fan.

The Work is the best BB workout I've done and I've done more than just that list. I was drenched in sweat pretty much every time. I did like LIIFT4, but only being 4 days a week I had to add an extra day of cardio. Had done X2 before and it's good, but it can get repetitive since the videos repeat.

I bought some creatine, but never used it. Since LIIFT4 is heavier on the weight lifting I think I might try do that again and finally try the creatine supplement once we get to bathing suit season

                Re: 2021 Fitness Adventures

Between some health stuff and covid from 2nd half of 2019 through most of 2020 I fell off the wagon big time working out. Because I of a diet I was on I lost a ton of weight and basically all my muscle, so when I got back into in in September it basically felt like starting over. Since then i started a bulk and was pretty good about hitting the gym, and got a lot of strength and muscle back, but also overindulged and put on fat too.

So now that I have a lot of my muscle back started a cut a couple days after Christmas. I have a scale that tells bf% and used the Navy Bf formula, neither of which is perfect but I wanted to give myself an idea and it seems like I'm starting around 20%. Like to get at least below 15 and then go by the mirror, maybe go as low as 10%, maybe not quite that low Bought a measuring tape and taking weakly measurements and progress pictures and keeping track in a spread sheet. I've also found for me taking a lot of data and measuring progress is huge in keeping me going.

Lifting 4 days a week, with cardio those days as well. Other days at least doing something active whether ddp yoga and/or a long walk. Counting calories as well. Only been cutting a little over a week but off to a good start

Gained ~5lbs over the Holidays. Not because of lack of exercise but mostly because my diet went to hell. I did notice that it affects my workout but damn it was fun eating like there was no tomorrow lol.

No shame in that. That's what the holidays are for!

Now it's 2021 and time to get back on the horse...I know I'm going to lose muscle by cutting, but there's no other way, as I've put on too much fat at this point. It's not terrible but getting to a point where it will be if I don't address it immediately. I'll keep doing weight training but I can't ignore the body fat % any longer.

Holding up my end of the bargain in the diet category (through 2 weeks LOL) but the exercise is still slow to come along. I really 100% believe once gyms re-open, I will be able to get back on the horse no problem, but considering we have no idea when that will be, I have to find a way to motivate to exercise at home. It ain't easy, though.

Keep at it, man. The old saying "you can't outwork a bad diet" is so true if that's any motivation. At least you're putting yourself in the position for the other work to pay off once you find a groove.

I feel you on missing a real gym. Spent the last 10 months getting by with a limited setup at home, playground pull-ups, etc after being spoiled for a couple years with a decently equipped gym at work. Managed to stay fairly consistent but I am bored by the limitations and miss getting psyched for a deadlift day and the versatility of the cable machine.

Totally. This is it exactly for me.

The first few months of the shutdowns, I did a pretty good job of working out at home, and kept at it well throughout the summer and early fall. But at some point, boredom and lack of motivation crept in, and being home all the friggin' time started to really cut into my willpower to workout where I eat/work/sleep. I also pretty quickly plateaued in terms of how interesting I can make a workout with 2 sets of dumbells, an exercise ball, and pull-up bar. Oh, and nowhere outside of a 6x9 foot area of open space that is suitable to work out.

I've tried exercise videos, online classes, pretty much tried it all at this point and have no desire to continue. I'll get back at it very soon, but for me, I really need to be somewhere other than my house to work out. The gym at work was perfect, because it was literally in my building, I could change in my office before/after (so no need for locker room), and I did it before I got home, which - as years of evidence have definitively proved - once I turn the handle on my door at home, no exercise is happening after that. It also had the benefit of waiting out traffic whilst working out, which was a 2-birds-with-1-stone bonus.

Anyway, lots of excuses, I know. I hope you guys are doing much better than me in that department. But I'm gonna start with a quick trot around the neighborhood just to get some fresh air and get back on the horse a bit. And keep at that diet....!

It's definitely a struggle. My strength training workouts have definitely dropped off. I think that's why I've made more of an effort to continue to find ways to get outdoors for exercise, just to break things up from being home almost all of the time.

We're due to get some more snow here, and hopefully I'll be able to ride around on the fat bike this weekend.
