Nice to see so many of you still here. I'll hit the 20-year mark next year.

I don't post nearly as much as I used to, but still visit the site often. I wish we had more games in each sport to talk about.

Re: I am old. (20,000 posts thread?)

This website has always served as bit of respite for me from the rest of the internet. The community is just manageable enough in terms of size to maintain a familiar and sane environment, which is more than I can say for a lot of other forums and sites I've visited over the years.

I first stumbled upon this site back in the dial up days when the masthead had a cyber Hakeem Olajuwon up top, likely around the year 2000. I may have been seeking out Madden 2000 info for N64. Here's what she looked like.

Not quite sure why I made a username, I was generally fine just lurking (maybe there was a point where it prompted me to make a name to continue). But this was probably the first place I ever really shared my voice on the internet (beyond AIM).

I was likely a sophomore in high school when I first visited, 19 when I made my user name, and 38 now. I've literally been here for half my life. From college kid re-reading NBA 2K3 Q & A's (I still remember them saying a dunk contest was imminent) to now a seasoned teacher out here giving 2K a hard time.

The passage of time is wild but it's kind of neat to have a constant like OS in there.

I originally signed up in 2003. I think I came over from MaddenMania. My old username is still on here. Looks like I made 17 posts over two years before departing. Then I came back in 2006 in my current form.

I'm old enough, I remember before the forums where we had the old newsgroups. There were some classic Madden vs. Gameday flame wars back then on there.

I don't even remember when I joined OS. This is pretty much the only message board that I still come back to from time to time though (mostly thanks to the community roster and sliders). I remember posting on here the summer before I went to college to get some laptop recommendations lol. Now I'm 30 years old and feel like college was such a long time ago. OS will always have a special place in my heart.

September will be 20 years here as a member. I joined my first year teaching. Life has changed a lot.

Retired, married with 2 kids. Survived a horrible accident, had to learn how to walk again (it is why I'm retired, it's not by choice). Owned 2 homes and we are having a pool installed this Spring.

That entire paragraph is something I thought I would never have, but I thank God I do. This place has been a break from the internet for me. I came for the sliders because ParedFia told me about OS on Gamefaqs, and stayed because of the great community.

I turn 50 this March. I'm old as dirt and I'm still here.
I am the lesson after the fall.

I'm still not even at 10K posts, the shame of it all after 21+ years. I can drink now though.
I won't ask for Christmas or birthday gifts if you subscribe to the Operation Sports Newsletter (Not Just Another Roster Update). I write it, and it hits your inbox every Friday morning (for freeeeeee). We also have an official OS Discord you can now join.

I'd love to see an all-time ranking of posters by post count, kinda like HR leaders. (i vaguely vaguely remember a thread to that extent at somepoint)

You used to be able to see it with the Member List link in sorting by post count, but the link itself was disabled.

There was a thread for the Dirty Dozen, which displayed the top twelve members (by post count) who hadn't donated to the site. You could see it on that list easily by seeing who basically wasn't a blue name.
