I don't think the question should be "why is every thread locked?"

It should be something along the lines of "Why can't some posters stay on topic in threads and follow the TOS rules?"

Simply cuz guys on here are close internet buddies and you can say sorta prejudice, for lack of a better term.

A longtime poster says something and everyone jumps on his nuts agrees and when I come along and hit that nerve I get...





When some topics come up and some guys cant relate, guys get offended. Some of you guys arent really diverse in cultural relations. Some only know whats on their side of the tracks and thats it. My convo is very different and I admit Im an ******* but at least I take the time to try to understand what is written. Some guys are just so defensive here.

Just wanted to add on to what he said. I think the thread got outta hand but it could of easily been back on track with a few warnings and a message to get back on topic. I stand by my initial stance that all the interesting threads get locked around here for some reason.

My thread was meant as a "shoot the breeze" thread and it had gotten wayy to serious. I did'nt question EG for locking the thread because it was a EE thread which as some pointed out, is'nt really the point of coming to "Operation Sports" in the first place.

The thing thats killing me inside is that when ppls views are diffrent and a debate gets started and heated, thats when someone comes along and padlocks the thread. If you're in a room full of ppl and you're discussing a topic, of course ppls views will differ from one another. Even though the thread may be unappropriate, its still interesting nontheless, especially when its in the EE forum.

Anyways, like I said before, if a poster feels offended by another poster, why cant he be responsible for bringing a mod to action. Its not like some ppl fight fire with fire and call eachother names, there are sensible ways at resolving a problem and it seems more and more each day that that chance is taken away because of a quick lock.

If you must know, I come to this forum to read about the latest sports news, sports video game news, debate about the hottest topic and to also shoot the breeze with ppl I've been conversating with for almost 3 years. I'm not gonna tell you guys how to run your forum but lately, this place has been like some sort of boot camp. It kinda seems like nobody is allowed to speak they're mind and the rules are enforced with strict precedence. The fun has been sucked out of the place.

I'm not taking anything seriously, believe me. If anyone is taking anything serious its others. Where did I state that I wanted a mod to talk to me? You must be referring to this: "I also see that if you aren't in good with a mod or admin, some guys wont talk or respond to you (unless I say something that strikes a nerve)."

You took the wrong interpretation of that. But who cares, not my fault.

Now...

Just like the people you critique for "kissing up to the Mods" for attention... you are doing nothing but "rebeling against them" with the same goal.

So we been here for about the same time right and you have 8x the posts I do? I think its safe to say that I have been reading just a bit more than you, but thats my opinion.

I think I have contributed some here with rosters, sliders and links to help....this is a video game site right? I take a real offense to that cuz most of my time spent on rosters and such was to HELP others enjoy their gaming. I just don't come on here and steal others ideas w/o contributing. I am not worked up by any means. Most of my posts are when I am at work bored...

All I'm going to add is that anyone doesn't like how it's run, there are plenty of other forums out there. The WWW is a big place and no one is forcing anyone to be here.

So if the fun's been sucked out of OS or you just don't like how it's run or it's just too strict, I'm sure there's another forum out there that might suit the needs of those who feel that way.

You tell me I should go somewhere else. Instead of tryna run me off you should take heed of my words and the words of others who feel the same. Yall should just lighten up.

And yes, I think the fun has been sucked out. Its certainly not like it used to be. This site was always laid back and the EE forum was always a place where you can unwind or blow some steam. Now I get bored because every thread I wanted to reply in is locked. But dont change because of lil ol me, I can go anywhere on the internet and find something more suitable right?

All I'm saying is I've been coming here a long time. And never before have I felt the urge to complain about anything thats done here. Me making this thread is a sign that things have changed around here. For better or for worse....only Steve knows the answer to that one. Speaking for myself, I'm not liking it.

Before someone else jumps in and tells me that I may need to go somewhere else.....again...just to let you know, I play by the rules. Always have. But the above paragraphs is just how I feel. It's very easy. If I don't like something in my life that I VOLUNTARILY choose to do, I don't do it. I've stopped visiting many forums in the past because I didn't like the way they were run. I've changed many jobs in the past because I didn't like the way things were run etc...

OS is a very large community. When the majority of members like how things are being run, why should it be changed for the few who don't? It just doesn't make much sense IMO.

Everyone wants to jump on the Mods/Admins for locking threads or doing some of the things we do (or as was put "lightening up"), but until you've been in our shoes, you have no idea how it is and some of the things that we have to put up with behind the scenes.

Graphik mentioned that the fun is sucked out of the forums...I'd challenge that the mods are doing everything the same as a few years ago, but that the forum itself is growing, thus causing a change in how things are.
