I don't know if it's any help, but I think I had this problem as well. The only threads in the NCAA Football forum I've visited since I started having computer problems were the EA Sports World video thread, DKrauses roster thread, and the uniform update thread.

I have had this problem two times today. I got on OS this morning (can't remember what forums I was in--I think the entertainment, steve's forum, console stuff) and got a ton of malware stuff, one of which infected my PC badly. I got it cleaned off finally (I use malwarebytes too but it didn't fix this one. I ended up downloading a program called reanimator that works wonders). I then hopped back on for a minute to look at this thread specifically, and I got another malware popup. This time, nothing happened, infection-wise.

I believe that virus pops up regardless of what site you are on.

But when you completely clean it off and run your system for a while with nothing happening and then all of the sudden it pops up again when you go to a site, that's either a really big coincidence or something's amiss. Not sure which is the case here.

My virus protection just prevented a trojan downloader while browsing the ESPN NFL 2k5 forums.

We are looking into this closely.

We're trying to understand why this happens for some people and does not for others.

One thing we are confident on is that it only occurs with IE.

Another hunch that we have is that you must have Symantec Antivirus installed.

Can the people who have experienced this please reply and answer these two questions:

What browser were you using?
Do you have Symantec Antivirus installed?

I got this too while browsing the NFL forums yesterday morning, and I was using Firefox (running McAfee anti-virus). Tried to restore my system and the thing locked up. Now it crashes within 10 seconds of turning it on. Long story short, I now have a Mac. I believe I was in the Colts-Chargers game thread topic when the problem first showed up. This is the first virus that has ever beaten me, and I remember doing this often back in the Morpheus and Kazaa days, its a bitch.

I got hit on Saturday while on here. I am mostly in the MLB the Show forum. I got hit with Trojan:JS/Agent, Trojan:Undo and Win32/Winfixer. I use firefox and have Symantec corporate addition.

It also prevented me from getting to the Symantec website to get the specific removal tools. I did finally get them removed.

I got this on 2 computers. On my laptop and my work comp.

1. IE 7 on both.
2. Symantec on both.

I got the same problem listed above. Happened Sunday afternoon.

How do you get them removed or how has anyone been able to get them removed. I do not want to reformat the hard drive.

I was able to get specific removal tools for the viruses through Symantec. Then I ran all the scans in safe mode at start up.

I got hit by some malware this weekend I didnt think it was from OS.com but I guess it looks to be the case.

I was using Firefox and have both AVG Free and Symantec Antivirus running.

Had to use Malware Bytes to get rid of them but I still get a bunch of SVCHOST in Task Manager so I think I have more work to do.
