I got hit on Saturday while on here. I am mostly in the MLB the Show forum. I got hit with Trojan:JS/Agent, Trojan:Undo and Win32/Winfixer. I use firefox and have Symantec corporate addition.

It also prevented me from getting to the Symantec website to get the specific removal tools. I did finally get them removed.

I got it on Saturday as well. I use Firefox and Symantec too, but MalwareBytes AND SpyBot were what I used to finally get rid of it.

But it isn't just here at OS. I got the exact same thing about 6 weeks ago from the Seattle Times website, believe it or not. It was a beast to get rid of. I couldn't even get to Malware's website, I couldn't install Spybot or Malwarebytes, I couldn't even get to Microsoft's website or Symantec's website. It got so bad that I couldn't even do a full reboot without locking up.

A buddy in my IT department had some homebrew programs that he used on my home machine and we finally killed it enough to where I could at least get Malwarebytes and Spybot installed, and that took care of it. Finally.

We are looking into this closely.

We're trying to understand why this happens for some people and does not for others.

One thing we are confident on is that it only occurs with IE.

Another hunch that we have is that you must have Symantec Antivirus installed.

Can the people who have experienced this please reply and answer these two questions:

What browser were you using?
Do you have Symantec Antivirus installed?

1) Google Chrome
2) I do not believe so. I use AVG Free Antivirus

I had to ship my comp to my IT department to get it kicked, it was the worst virus I have ever had.

I use IE.
I did have Symantec Installed.

It was a Torjan Vundo virus.

It acted like a anti virus removal program.

Needless to say i was pretty pissed and think i should get a blue name for having to deal with it

Thanks for the info guys. Unfortunately we are no closer to understanding where this comes from. There is nothing in our code relating to it.

Seems like GameTrailers was doing something similar.

It's most likely coming from one of you advertising partner services and you don't even realize.

Yeah, that makes web browsing more peaceful. NoScript is even useful for the most paranoid among us.

I get this when Posting a Reply. Not Quick Reply, but Post Reply (usually after quoting someone).

I see the status bar on the lower left hand corner of Firefox's browser show that it's loading some kind of adware. Then it freezes my reply box and I'm forced to back out or refresh to move forward to the reply box again.

This created havoc for me a week ago and I've been running my spyware removal program like nuts since.

I got hit by some malware this weekend I didnt think it was from OS.com but I guess it looks to be the case.

I was using Firefox and have both AVG Free and Symantec Antivirus running.

Had to use Malware Bytes to get rid of them but I still get a bunch of SVCHOST in Task Manager so I think I have more work to do.

What's SVCHOST?
