From what I hear this could be a mass "social engineering" job. The intent is to have people google confiker worm, which could possibley lead you to sites that contain the payload. My suggestion is keep your antivirus up to date and avoid doing any web searches for the confiker worm.

I watched 60 Minutes for the first time in years last night and they had a story about this thing. Scary stuff. I love how the guy from Symantec basically said his antivirus software was the only way you could assure yourself you won't be infected.

Symantec is probably the worst anti virus out there, I recommend AVG or Kaspersky.

True, the Kaspersky head quarters (Russia) is across the street from the people writing the virus code, so they have a leg up on other vendors.

They said on 60 minutes though that most people have the virus already, it's just waiting for instructions which will go out April 1.

It exploits an RPC vulnerability, make sure your machines have the latest MS patches and you should be fine, the specific patch you need is MS08-067.

I'd never even heard of this. Fortunately, my virus software is up to date and I never click on any suspicious things.
