TROLL ?

Hey guys, I just wondered what you all consider trolling. I am especially interested in hearing the mods/ops voices on the issue. I ask because I recently saw Kiss in concert and on this one Kiss forum I went to I posted a negative review of the concert. I gave my reasons as to why i felt the concert was not that good. Imagine my surprise when the next time I go there I see the ops have replaced my avatar with a pic of a troll doll and my avatar message now says TROLL.

So I'm just wondering what you guys all consider the difference in being critical of something, in this example a rock band, and trolling.

It has a few meanings. To me, first and foremost a troll is a person who just goes around being contrary for the sake of being contrary. Some people just like to stir the pot. It could also be a person who goes around trying to find any thread they can to speak negatively about a particular person or thing, just because. Good example in the College Football Forum.

WOW, you like KISS! I never would have guessed . I'm not much of a music fan, I'm just messin with you.

Anyways, my interpretation of a troll is someone who posts for the sake of posting without actually contributing anything useful to the thread. Also people who ask stupid questions or make rhetorical or redundant statements. Sounds to me like the mods of the forum you were on are such fans that they feel that KISS can do no wrong and anyone who says something even remotely negative about them is a troll in their eyes.

Well they are pushing 60. Also if you talk about how great Ace is and then slam on Kiss it might be a hidden agenda. Even though you are not like that, they probably don't know that.

Yeah thanks guys, I guess despite posting reasons and my opinion the bottom line is I put down Kiss too much I guess. And yes I did say good things about Ace so perhaps they thought I was trying to start some "war"...which would be ironic considering that war has been going on for years already.. LOL

I consider trolls to be people who cannot engage in any form of debate without engaging in childish name calling or deflecting the subject by insulting the performance of other teams no matter how unrelated to said topic it may be.

Massnole, yeah, that is what I always have too. Maybe i just caught an op having a bad night and didn't like my attacks on his favorite band. Still, a forum should not be just a place to kiss up to what it's dedicated to (pardon the pun)...
