I think a lot of people automatically consider it trolling if someone expresses an opinion they do not like or do not agree with. The term is so overused it isn't even funny and a lot of people in the younger generation really don't get the concept and just want want to generalize.

What that mod/admin did to you on the Kiss forum was just sad. Now that being said when I was a mod on NCAA Utopia I did something similar to DT Linder, but well he could only try to rip people off so many time with "his" rosters so many times and level so many insults before someone had to act. I also messed with his signature to say something to the effect of "I am sorry I lied and stole Blacklover and Fairdale Kings rosters to sell, I am the world's biggest douchebag and girls are repelled by my very appearance."

haha, nothing is too bad for that guy IMO!!

I agree that basically some people view criticism as trolling when i've always thought of trolling as being more insulting without basis.

example of criticism: Kiss was a disappointment, they were boring, flubbed several guitar solos and were out of synch most of the night.
example of trolling: Kiss sucks, they were awful and no one should waste money to see them!

*sigh* - I just wonder how long i'll have to wear the troll badge on my avatar, LOL..

I think your post count and contribution to the forum plays a factor too. If you have 23 posts and they lean towards talking about the KISS negatives, they would have reason to be concerned.

Heck, I went to a KISS concert and walked out because of how bad I thought the performance was.

What is somewhat sad is when you do have someone out there that is so jaded that they have to be negative about everything, determined to place their anger somewhere.

Yeah that's true, I think i have like 150-170 posts on that forum. I post there very sporadically so i'm not well known. That could def. be a big part of the issue that I hadn't thought of.

That's nice to hear that someone else is in agreement with me, although it's sad for Kiss fans sake..

In my opinion Ace is the only memeber in that band that had talent. Gene, Chris are average at best. Paul could sing and shake those hips. Girls love that. Kiss was more about being entertainers. Their show is more of a production and not a concert. Which is the way Gene wanted it. He knew they could make some serious money off this gimmick. Ace is underrated, because of Kiss. He is one of the best players in the world in my opinion. But he always goes back to Kiss, for 2 reasons the money and he will always be lable as Ace from kiss.

Why? They are almost 60 years old. Trust me fan of the band go to see them not see if they are still good or still got it. A lot of times you go to just have some of the old memories come back. When I went and saw Kiss not too long ago they were OK. but it was fun hearing those songs and thinking about my past.

I might agree with you had I not seen Ace, who is 58 himself btw, and hear with how much emotion and intensity he plays today vs. what I hear from Paul & Gene.

Being old is not the reason for their lost passion, it's because they are intent on presenting a tribute show rather than an actual concert. But then that's my opinion. The show could be so much better..

Hey guys, I just wondered what you all consider trolling. I am especially interested in hearing the mods/ops voices on the issue. I ask because I recently saw Kiss in concert and on this one Kiss forum I went to I posted a negative review of the concert. I gave my reasons as to why i felt the concert was not that good. Imagine my surprise when the next time I go there I see the ops have replaced my avatar with a pic of a troll doll and my avatar message now says TROLL.

So I'm just wondering what you guys all consider the difference in being critical of something, in this example a rock band, and trolling.

You weren't trolling. You just had a different opinion compared with the majority of the people that post on that site and get labeled a "troll" for being honest. See it all the time on another forum I frequent. Hell, I've been labeled a troll (yes, me - I'm one of the least combative people in the world) on that site on more than one occasion just for having a different point of view than most of the people there.

You are missing the point. Ace is just playing the guitar. He is not doing a production. Kiss is doing a production. The bottom line is they are too old to pull it off. 60 year old men still in makeup and shooting out fire and fake blood just is not right. It has nothing to do with passion. It has to do with the energy it takes to make a production like that look great. Paul tries, but he is not the same. Gene tries too and probably can pull it off more than Paul. But mostly becasue Paul was the energetic one on stage running around and shaking his ***. Plus Ace has talent. That goes a long as you get older.

thanks for the kind words, I feel bad that I pissed some people off with the comments I made, truthfully I felt bad already, having been disappointed in the concert, then I was made to feel worse by being labeled a TROLL...

That is the problem when you have done it for that long and you are only doing it for money. And make no mistake about it is for money. Even though Gene is very wealthy and I am sure Paul it too. Though I think Gene is the main Kiss license holder. That is where they made their money. All the Kiss merchandise. I still have my Kiss lunchbox.
