Most definitely. It's a word used by unintelligent sports fans trying to get some stupid point across but have no recourse but to throw that stupid word in there.

The E-word was one thing. It was a tongue in cheek thing, I thought (though if it was, I think the joke has run it's course). But we're just going to keep censoring every word that has become part of the vernacular of a younger generation, just because we're a little older and are annoyed by it? Why not censor any discussion of the Twilight movies? I find that annoying, let's get rid of it. Come one.
For the record, I'm not one that typically used the aforementioned recently censored words. I just think it's ridiculous to censor something, not because it might be offensive or cause disorder, but because it's the personal pet peeve of some of the mods. If that's not an abuse of power, I don't know what is.Comment

The use of "******" is actually detrimental to conversation. Anytime "*****", "hating", "hating on", "******" was thrown into the mix on a thread, it spelled the beginning of the end of it.Comment

Really couldn't say it better than that. I for one, find most of the examples you posted pretty annoying myself (though you lose me a bit with "graphically" and "commentary") but would not advocate they be censored via the board's vulgarity filter. Even filtering the "seven words you can't say on television" does little. It doesn't prevent people from using the f-word, just replaces it with asterisks. As you censor more and more words that do not fall under that label you get even more posts littered with asterisks and more confusion. The filter solves nothing. I suppose if you filter enough words out then a lot of posts will be so unintelligible that people will finally stop using them, but I'd hate to see how long that takes.
***** is a stupid word. I don't recall ever using it in my life, maybe it is a word used by the younger crowd, I don't know. It's not a real word, as far as I know, removing it from the board's lexicon won't affect me much but I still can't even support that being filtered. To remove a word because a handful of people find it annoying does not seem an acceptable reason. Words come and go with the times. When I first started posting here there could not be a topic posted in the sports forums without the "homer" accusation being thrown around. I'm sure that still happens, but not with nearly the same frequency and no one had to block out the word homer. I'm sure there is something in the TOS that can give a moderator a reason to give someone an infraction/banning for making an antagonizing post as simple as "you're just a *****" and that would work far better than a filter.Comment

You guys have WAY too much pent up frustration over slang words in the English language on a PRIVATELY OWNED AND OPERATED SITE.
