Re: Why is the word e p i c censored?

I don't think responses trying to downplay the situation by telling people it's not a big deal help much. I haven't seen any posts from individuals displeased by the recent turn of events imply anger but when others try to tell them their opinion has no weight because it's a non-issue then I could see anger or frustration mount. I also don't feel the excuse that this is a privately run forum is appropriate. If all of the users chose to walk away because of a change being implemented then you can rest assured that change would be undone. As users of this forum I feel we have the right to voice our agreements and disagreements over how things are done. The staff ultimately can do as it wishes.

To me, this is an issue of importance. I don't think it matters why, it just is. I think the forum administrators are over-stepping their boundaries and this no longer feels like the place I signed up for 7 years ago. I don't expect anyone to care about my personal feelings on the matter or for anyone to care about the issue of one four letter word as much as I apparently do. I also don't intend that as a threat of any sort. If I no longer wish to post here I'm sure OS will carry on just fine. Nevertheless, Millenium requested anyone that still has an issue send him a PM so I'll do as he requested and consider the matter closed once completed.

If only MLB can censor the American League team from NY.

Nice way to play with a somewhat tense situation (well at least for some people) there YP.

            Fair enough.

There's no need for me to chill out Dre as I am not up in arms. Use of sarcasm doesn't mean I'm sitting here fuming. I'm just being sarcastic is all.

Also, the extent of my vocabulary is not the point. The point is how far are we going to take this? How many words are going to end up being filtered just because a few people get annoyed by seeing them? Why can't those people just get over it?

LOL. That was a nice e-flex.
The advice to "chill" wasn't an indication that you were having a fit. It was more a sign that your sarcasm, in this case, was stepping over the bounds of what's allowable here. The hope is that it'll cause you to dial it back a bit. So with your last response about the "e-flex" directed to a mod, I'd ask more directly now that you dial it back a bit.

As the OP, can this be closed now? I think it's gone far enough.

The advice to chill was followed by an implication that I was up in arms, which can be same as having a fit as you put it. I was letting it be known to him that I am good. Me being sarcastic is not an indication of me being up in arms, having a fit, throwing a tantrum or however else you'd like to describe it. As I type this I got a pm from Dre clearing that up so it's all good.

As for my observance of Beantown's little power play, it doesn't matter to me what color the name is. That whole "directed to a mod" doesn't move me at all. I can respect a moderator's position for what it's worth. But if you're trying to be threatening or throw your weight around on the internet, I'm pretty much always going to laugh it off like that. That's for anyone.

I've gone through the TOS and saw nothing about sarcasm being against the rules. But hey, this is a privately owned site as some of you like to remind us and you guys can do what you want right, even if it means making up rules on the fly? I'm cool with that, do you what you feel you need to do. That seems to be what this thread is all about after all. That said, I can see how it could get people riled up, so I'll chill in respect to this discussion.
                  PS: You guys are great.

                    YP... lol @ you man

As for this thread... lets leave it on the note that

Mill will not be changing this filtered word on the account of said started thread

Since we all know that now, lets forget about it. Time to start a thread on another word we find filtered =)

Nothing to do with a "power-play" or any of that. I was just letting you know that if you make another comment like that, sarcastic or not, or make another snide remark towards another poster or his opinion, it will not be ignored. Not trying to threaten you, not trying to "throw my weight around" on here - hell, ask most people and I'm one of the least threatening mods we got on here - I was just giving you a final warning. You want to laugh it off, be my guest, but that's all you get.
