What I've been doing as well is if I see a post that is an obvious mass spam attack I check to see if the poster has made other posts and if so I include the link to the page showing all their posts in my report.

So your other option is to post in a thread where all the staff isn't monitoring and they can only have access to it when they are on the site...

Meanwhile, you can hit the report button and we all are notified of it a short while after. The alternative is a better solution?

I'm here to help but what you're offering doesn't make sense to me. You're willing to complain about it but you admittedly don't want to report? Huh?

We are working on ways to combat it but if we need your assistance and you're not offering, then it's up to us. Your call on that one but the tools are there.

That's not what I'm saying. I don't have the patience to deal with the report button, so I just ignore it and hope someone else says something. I've never posted anything in here about it. I may say something on Twitter, but reporting posts isn't worth my time the way it currently functions.

Fine - that's your choice. If it isn't worth your time to report however, I don't see why it's worth your time to do anything else then. You don't have the patience to deal with following:

You click an image, type in "NCAA forum is getting spammed" and hit submit

....but you can ignore it. Again - I don't understand the logic you're attempting to explain here but whatever works for you.

For the others that would like to help, hopefully they will do so.

His point is, after you hit "submit" it usually takes at least a minute and a half to go through and reload your OS page. Generally not worth the effort since it's more than likely that someone else will do it anyway.

This works too, it's pretty much instant. But for browser based reporting I usually just right click the report button and open the page in a new tab. That way I can continue browsing on the first tab, even while the post is being reported.

I just tested this and you're right. Thanks for the clarification.

When I was not a mod, reporting was pretty much instant. Something must have changed where it functions this way. What that is - I am not sure.

Either way, knowing this at least we can discuss it and see if there is a solution. I can see how sitting around for the 40 seconds or so it took me can be annoying.

I like reporting via tapatalk but usually prefer to edit in why it's spam, especially when it's not as obvious as some of the spam this thread is discussing.

I'm able to edit the message on TT just fine...it does give the generic "It's Spam" message when I first report it, but I can tap on that and change the message to whatever I want before submitting. Did one like that last night while I was at work.

One of the versions has a quick 'its spam!' button is what i was referring to. Doesn't bring you to an edit.

Yeah that's all I'm saying. I report all the time on Tapatalk because it's instantaneous, but it get's annoying after the second or third report because it takes SO long.

Yeah I'm having the same issue, trying to report the spam attack in NCAA Football forum is driving me nuts.

I tried the trick of opening the forum in separate tabs so I can browse while reporting and that helped a bit. I wonder what causes the reporting delay.

Are there any further technical avenues that the site can pursue? Captchas or something similar?
