    Forum upgrade?

Y'all ever thought of upgrading the forums? I assume this is still vBulletin right? There are newer versions which have a lot more embedding capabilities like embedding Tweets and stuff.

Or does this version have that capability and you're just disabling it? Or consciously avoiding an upgrade because you don't want tweets and stuff embedded on here?

Bump. Been almost 4 years since I posted this.

Are y'all keeping this site old school on purpose?

We have some guys working the backend of multiple sites now, so it's not just OS. They are in the process of implementing new forum software on those sites first, then eventually to OS. Our database is just unbelievably humongous, and well... Just the migration part of it, is upwards to 100 hours and that doesn't include all of the other things we have installed on the Forums, we'd have to convert to new software.

So yes, that is kind of the problem our guys will have to deal with, when it comes time.

I wish I had an exact date, but I do not. Just know that we are aware of how ancient our forums are and will have an updated version in due time...

Was wondering if there were any updates / expectations around this maybe happening this summer / year / next year?

I wish I had an answer. Just know that ongoing tests are happening, the biggest hurdle is the migrating of the actual database, which can take up to a few weeks. To lessen the downtime, the smarter people are going over those options.

As I hear more, I'll provide updates, but for now, it's all about testing and seeing what can or can't be done. We'd like to keep as much data, users, etc, as possible.

Curious, is the change you're considering how the forums currently are at basketballforum.com, wrestlingforum.com, etc? It's been pretty unanimous that people hated the upgrade they did.

May be the wrong topic but is anyone using Tapatalk getting these random popup ads for mobile games?

Not familiar with those sites. The format of the forum won't change much at all, just need to get the latest version of SOMETHING. Embedding Twitter, YouTube, and other things in general, just aren't possible on our antique software. I'll just say that.

Last I heard was that I'd get another update in March. I'll update anytime I hear anything.

Can you at least say that you are attempting to migrate away from vbulletin?

Would love it if it was XenForo
