Request: Would you allow us until 11/5?

The Debate Club is closed, and the type of political/religious debate we've been seeing is not longer allowed on OS. Any thread which starts to veer down that path will be locked, and any poster who continues to try to stir up political debate will get warned, then banned.

I know the situation, but I just have to ask.

Seeing that this is the biggest election to take part in most of our lives (considering some of the ages on here), would you allow us one thread to discuss the 2004 U.S. Presidential election, allowing it to stay open about 3 days just in case there is any recounting? Or until there is a decisive and clear winner, no confusion.

Yes, I know how OS feels about political debates and the like, but the significance of this election is so monumental, that I would ask if you would consider it.

Shut it down at the first sight of "oh he sucks, he has/will ruin this country, I've always hated that bastard", etc. talk.

I just think that it would be great to hear the insight of alot of our more mature posters like Sportsman, EROD, KDRE, LetsGoPitt, etc. on this occasion.

Hell, get Bacardi to warn us all (I think he "scares" alot of the posters on here) beforehand. Do whatever you have to do (permanent bans, whatever), to let guys know that if it starts turning for the worse that there could be serious repercussions.

I don't know, allow only donators to enter. I'm just throwing suggestions around. But it'd be really cool of you guys to let this happen.

There are plenty of forums out there for politics. OS is not one of them.

We're talking about an election like the kids on here talk about girl problems, movies, masterbating, etc. Not looking for a stamp of politics here, just a simply thread.

Dude, I can't handle some kid talking about his jerking off streak either. In no way, shape or form does that represent OS, so talking about the biggest election of most of our lifetimes should not represent OS as a whole either.

If you don't like those threads then avoid EE all together. If you want some help I can gladly remove your EE perms. There are over 3 million political forums on the internet. We don't need another one.

These forums are not mine and I don't make the decisions but don't expect them to be back.

I would like nothing more than a thread to discuss the election process tomorrow, but after thinking I also agree with bdunn...While some of us are able to discuss in an adult manner, invariably people would turn it into a name calling political fiasco. We've just seen it happen too much, you have to learn from the past at some point, or keep repeating the same mistakes over and over.
