I always play my younger or less played players in the early cup games. But once it gets to the quarter finals I start playing my normal players.

Cap one, im playing almost all young guys.

Fa cup, playing my regulars unless their tired. Januzaj really shined in those games and got playing time in some of the biggest games later on.

Re: How is your FIFA 14 NG Manager Mode going?

So after posting about how I haven't lost yet, I immediately went on a losing streak. Lost to Liverpool 4-0 in my first F.A. Cup game. Then lost 5 straight in league play. Bounced back and started winning again. Sitting in first of League 1 with 9 games to go. Up by 7 points.

Ended up with an amazing miracle win in the Capitol One Cup Final against ManU. Tied 2-2 in the 89th minute, I got a penalty for being tripped from behind in the box in a one on one. Keeper got to it to deflect it, but he did so right back to me and I tapped it in to take the lead and went on to get the win. And about to play the J.Paint final.

Also just got offered two international jobs. Finland and Paraguay. I decided to go with Paraguay. Never actually managed a South American team in this game before.

Messed around with Barcelona and sold half of the team (including Messi) for the fun of it. Brought in some nice players and still have a ton of money left over to make a big splash in the next transfer window.

          GK: Tim Krul (79)
          RB: Montoya (77)
          RCB: Piqué (87)
          LCB: Puyol (82)
          LB: Jordi Alba (82)
          RM: Eden Hazard (88)
          LM: Kwadwo Asamoah (81)
          CM: Hiroshi Kiyotake (77)
          RW: El Shaarawy (80)
          LW: Neymar (86)
          ST: Lewandowski (86)

          Subs

          RW Christian Tello (79)
          CAM Maximillian Meyer (73)
          GK Pinto (71)
          RB DeAndre Yedlin (67)
          CB Marc Bartra (76)
          RM Maximillian Beister (74)
          LB Adriano (77)
          LM Afellay (77)

          Transfer Budget: $71,282,992

Definitely not realistic, but Hazard and Neymar are two of my favorite players, as well as Lewandowski, so I figured why not go for it.

First to get out the final bit of last season, I won the South American Cup with Paraguay. Beat Uruguay 4-3 in extra time. And then beat Argentina 1-0 in the final. Fell in love with one of my CM on the team and paid top dollar for him for club. Excited to use him for the upcoming season. I had to sell a few players to get more transfer money to get him, so I hope it pays off.

Finished first in League 1 and gained promotion back into the FL Champions. Also won the Capital One Cup and the J. Paint Cup. So a really good year. But I am expected to finish 22nd in the upcoming season. Board expects a high table finish though. Should be a good season.

This is usually where I take another job offer, but I am going to stick with this team until I can win Premier League a title. Or get fired trying. And since I won a Cup title with Paraguay I think I'll stick with them also.

Still in August, mid month. About to play the first Capital One Cup game, first game of the season.

Re: How is your FIFA 14 NG Manager Mode going?

So, the mosquitoes here were so bad this weekend (I mowed my lawn....15 minutes, I was bitten 20 times)...and with the pregnant girlfriend wanting to sleep all weekend it was FIFA time!

In my second season with Liverpool, things are going rather well. Sitting on top of the table. Sturridge has 13 goals through 14 league games. Having a little trouble leaking goals. Changed from a 4-3-3 to a 4-2-3-1 and that's stopped happening.

Anyway, Fulham's first season back up has them in a Champions League spot! They've taken 22 out of their last 24 points!

              Spoiler

ManU has been hot too. Every week it seems they're winning 4-1 or so.

I must say, I did purchase this excel spreadsheet for 14 bucks the other day, but I'm SO much more immersed in what's going on in my CM. It's a bit more work updating the fixtures & such, but it's well worth it knowing what's going on around the league.

Re: Manager Career - Genoa &amp; Mexico

Mexico defeated Romania 2-1 to set up a win-and-go-through match with Uruguay. Di Stefano indeed dropped the lackluster Carlos Vela in favor of big Raul Jimenez with Dos Santos in the hole of a 3-4-1-2.

The word out of training was the manager demanding a high defensive work rate out of all his players and it showed on the pitch. While they were content to give Romania some of the ball, Mexican defending was relentless in the final third. However, as it always seems to be with his teams, poor finishing saw Mexico with only a 1-0 lead at the half despite a 14-1 shots advantage.

A second half attempt to put the game away by pressing higher up the pitch saw Romania sneak through on the counter and equalize in the 70th, much to the dismay of the manager who likely had mothers covering their children's ears in the stands. Mexico looked rattled, misplacing places all over the pitch, until a fortunate bounce of the ball gave Miguel Layun space in the box to chip a cross back to the penalty spot where Dos Santos hit a spectacular scissor-volley into the lower corner.

Mexico defended resolutely for the final ten minutes to seal the 2-1 victory and now faces Suarez, Cavani, and Uruguay with a place in the knockout stage at stake. With Germany and Uruguay drawing, both sit on four points, one ahead of Mexico. With Germany heavily favored over Romania, Mexico most likely must win to advance.

Also of note, the media reported Arsenal rescinded their offer because I took too long to reply (3 days). Perhaps the game was just trolling me.

                      2015-2016

                      August 11th - September 1st Update

In the first round of the Capitol One Cup we beat Doncaster Rovers 3-0. In our first league match we drew with Middleborough 1-1.

We played GNK in the Euro League qualifying round. Beat them in both legs 2-0. Also ended up winning three other leagues games before the end of the month. All close games decided by 1 goal aside from the spanking we game Brighton Hove Albion. We beat them 5-1, with them getting their goal in the 89th minute.

We are now in the group stage of the Euro League, in Group J with Napoli, SC Braga and Molde FK. Should be a good group battle.

Ended up losing two players to injuries already due to our jam packed schedule in the final two weeks of August. We played on the 18th, 20th, 23rd, 25th, 27th and 29th. I was surprised we didn't drop a game or two during that run. We lost Shaun MacDonald for 3 months with a torn quadriceps. And we lost Chris Humphrey for 5 weeks with a broken ankle.

They were not a big part of the rotation, but them being out means some of the younger players will get more rotation themselves now.

Got some tough games coming up so I expect us to draw a couple and drop some. I don't see us coming out of September in the the same top spot.

                        2015-2016

                        September 1st - November 3rd Update

Ended up losing in the second round of Capitol One Cup to Stevenage 1-0. Then lost two league games back to back. Overall in league play we've done better than expected. Drew some games that should have been loses. Also snuck in a few wins that we probably didn't deserve. Currently sitting in 5th, 13 points back on first place.

                        <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8"><link href="http://dynasties.operationsports.com/css/osdyn.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css"><table class="osdyn" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1" width="475"><tbody><tr class="masthead_alt"><td colspan="6" bgcolor="#020E9A">Champions League Top of Table</td></tr><tr class="stathead"><td width="50%">TEAM</td><td align="right" width="10%">GP</td><td align="right" width="10%">W</td><td align="right" width="10%">D</td><td align="right" width="10%">L</td><td align="right" width="10%">PTS</td></tr><tr class="oddrow"><td>West Brom</td><td align="right">17</td><td align="right">14</td><td align="right">1</td><td align="right">2</td><td align="right">43</td></tr><tr class="evenrow"><td>Derby County</td><td align="right">17</td><td align="right">11</td><td align="right">3</td><td align="right">3</td><td align="right">36</td></tr><tr class="oddrow"><td>Cardiff City</td><td align="right">17</td><td align="right">10</td><td align="right">4</td><td align="right">3</td><td align="right">34</td></tr><tr class="evenrow"><td>Liecester City</td><td align="right">17</td><td align="right">9</td><td align="right">5</td><td align="right">3</td><td align="right">32</td></tr><tr class="oddrow"><td>Bournemouth</td><td align="right">17</td><td align="right">8</td><td align="right">6</td><td align="right">3</td><td align="right">30</td></tr><tr class="evenrow"><td>Wigan Athletic</td><td align="right">17</td><td align="right">9</td><td align="right">3</td><td align="right">5</td><td align="right">30</td></tr><tr class="oddrow"><td>Ipswitch Town</td><td align="right">17</td><td align="right">9</td><td align="right">3</td><td align="right">5</td><td align="right">30</td></tr><tr class="evenrow"><td>Wolverhampton</td><td align="right">17</td><td align="right">8</td><td align="right">5</td><td align="right">4</td><td align="right">29</td></tr><tr class="oddrow"><td>Sheffield United</td><td align="right">17</td><td align="right">7</td><td align="right">5</td><td align="right">4</td><td align="right">26</td></tr><tr class="evenrow"><td>Burnley</td><td align="right">17</td><td align="right">7</td><td align="right">4</td><td align="right">6</td><td align="right">25</td></tr></tbody></table>

And during all those draws and loses in league play, we some how managed to win the first three games of the EURO League group stage. Sitting in a great position for the reverse fixtures. We expect to make it to the next round.

And an injury update, Stephan Zubar is going to miss 4 more weeks with a broken ankle. However he is currently the only player on the injured list.

And qualifying for the 2018 World Cup has begun. My first real test with Paraguay. In our first game we drew with Chile 1-1. And then snuck out a late winner against Brazil 1-0. Currently sitting in fourth. But a long way to go to qualify.

I'm now 28 matches in. 7 points clear of Chelsea for the title, but I have to go on the road for most of my remaining fixtures. Stevie G announced that he's going to retire, so I really want to finish this run off and give him a title on the way out.
I purchased Leandro (ST)and Piazarro (RB) during the winter transfer period. Sold Remy for £10 million. Sold Allen for £14 million.
Sturridge continues his excellent run of form with 22 goals through 28 games. Ibai Gomez is surprisingly the second leading scorer with 7 goals in playing 12 games.

                          Spoiler

Fulham continues their run at the Champions League. United has taken a hard tumble losing to some interesting squads (Hull and Stoke for example).

The relegation race looks to be a fun one with 5 teams fighting for 2 places in next seasons PL. West Brom, Stoke, Hull, Cardiff, and Swans are all within 3 points of each other....and they all play each other once in the last 10 matches!

I'm currently in the QF of the Champions League, matched up with Chelsea. Ugh....flippin Petr Cech has been a thorn in my side. He's single handedly kept Chelsea in the 2 games I've played against them. Definitely not a walk over.

Also still chugging away at the FA Cup. Just rolled my way into the Semi's.

                            2015-2016

                            November 3rd - February 3rd Update

We continue to do better than expected of us. While not sitting in promotion spots, we are hovering around the EURO league spots. While having dropped as low as 9th on the table, but never getting higher than 4th. We've dropped some games I was not happy with, but also snuck out some wins that I feel we got away with. So all in all its been a fantastic year. And we are still in the running to try and gain promotion. We just have to shore up our playing and make a decent run with 16 games left.

                            <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8"><link href="http://dynasties.operationsports.com/css/osdyn.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css"><table class="osdyn" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1" width="475"><tbody><tr class="masthead_alt"><td colspan="6" bgcolor="#8E0C0C">Champions League Top of Table</td></tr><tr class="stathead"><td width="50%">TEAM</td><td align="right" width="10%">GP</td><td align="right" width="10%">W</td><td align="right" width="10%">D</td><td align="right" width="10%">L</td><td align="right" width="10%">PTS</td></tr><tr class="oddrow"><td>West Brom</td><td align="right">29</td><td align="right">22</td><td align="right">1</td><td align="right">6</td><td align="right">67</td></tr><tr class="evenrow"><td>Wigan Athletic</td><td align="right">29</td><td align="right">19</td><td align="right">5</td><td align="right">5</td><td align="right">62</td></tr><tr class="oddrow"><td>Cardiff City</td><td align="right">30</td><td align="right">18</td><td align="right">6</td><td align="right">6</td><td align="right">60</td></tr><tr class="evenrow"><td>Leicester City</td><td align="right">30</td><td align="right">15</td><td align="right">9</td><td align="right">6</td><td align="right">54</td></tr><tr class="oddrow"><td>Bournemouth</td><td align="right">30</td><td align="right">14</td><td align="right">11</td><td align="right">5</td><td align="right">53</td></tr><tr class="evenrow"><td>Wolverhampton</td><td align="right">30</td><td align="right">14</td><td align="right">9</td><td align="right">7</td><td align="right">51</td></tr><tr class="oddrow"><td>Derby</td><td align="right">30</td><td align="right">14</td><td align="right">7</td><td align="right">9</td><td align="right">49</td></tr><tr class="evenrow"><td>Birmingham City</td><td align="right">30</td><td align="right">13</td><td align="right">9</td><td align="right">8</td><td align="right">48</td></tr><tr class="oddrow"><td>Bolton</td><td align="right">30</td><td align="right">13</td><td align="right">6</td><td align="right">11</td><td align="right">45</td></tr><tr class="evenrow"><td>Sheffield Wed</td><td align="right">30</td><td align="right">11</td><td align="right">11</td><td align="right">8</td><td align="right">44</td></tr></tbody></table>

We also lost two of the last three in the group stage of the EURO league, but still advanced to the Round of 32 in first place of the group. Next up we play RSC Anderletch. Looks like it might be a tough match up.

And in the F.A. Cup we played Reading in the 3rd Round. Drew 1-1 and had to play a replay. The replay ended in a 0-0 draw to go into extra time. And just before a penalty shoot out we snuck out an amazing goal in the 118th minute to get the 1-0 win to advance. Then we played Everton in the 4th round, and shockingly beat them 3-0 to advance to Round of 16. They did however have two major injuries in the game and a were playing a man down from the 15th minute on off a red card.

There was lots of activity in the transfer window also. Some doubt from the media and some fans for some moves made. But I feel they will only help the team in the long run. The board gave me three million to use for advancing in the EURO League, which helped.

And in WC Qualifying, we played two more games. Another draw and win split. Sitting in 3rd on the table after only four games. But a long road ahead.

I really wish this game did a better job of keeping and tracking stats. It does nothing outside your own league. And there is no history of anything. Even the measly manager stats its keeps of you always get messed up and stop working after the second season.

Well, this is rather embarrassing... After a 1-1 draw with Uruguay. Mexico fails to advance out of group play in the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Knowing progress was secured with a draw Uruguay seemed content to spoil the game, with the first half seeing only six combined shot attempts. Mexico pushed in the second half, only to concede a Suarez goal around the hour mark. Mexico equalized when Dos Santos cleaned up a rebound from a Guardado drive from 25. Vela, on at halftime for a disappointing Jimenez, pulled a shot just wide of the post with minutes remaining in what proved to be El Tri's last chance. His head hanging, Di Stefano announced his resignation following the match.
