Re: How is your FIFA 14 NG Manager Mode going?

So I ended finishing third in the championship for the second year in a row. This time only 1 point behind second, and three points behind first. I ended up winning the playoff easily this time however and got promotion into Premiere.

Lost in the third round of the Capitol One cup, round of 16 in the F.A Cup and the playoff round after group in EURO League. Didn't care too much about those games and only played deeper bench guys. Was more concerned about getting promotion.

I stole some really top rated players from expiring contracts in the winter window. An 80 rated CB from Man City, and a 78 rated CAM from Inter. I had to convert all my transfer funds into salary though. Those two guys are now the highest paid players on my squad.

Also just made it to the Considerations Cup final with Paraguay. Playing Spain for the final. Also have 4 or 6 more WC qualifying games left. Currently sitting in 3rd, so I should be safe to qualify. Top 5 make it in. So as long as I don't lose them all I should be good. I'm 9 points up on the team in 6th.

Oh man. That Confed final was the craziest game I have ever played. I some how managed to go up on Spain 3-0 at half time. I scored from a penalty, Spain had an own goal. And I got great header off a corner.

Then in the second half Spain score four goals! To take the lead 4-3. They also scored from a penalty, I had an own goal also. And they scored two great shots off counters. Then in the 90th minute I score off a counter of my own, beating the keeper in a one on one. Extra time at 4-4.

In extra time I lose a player to an injruy. I already used all three subs. So I'm playing a man down. Then Spain gets a man sent off on a red card. No one scores and to a shoot out we go.

Spain ends up winning 5-4 on penalties. Such a bummer, but such an amazing game. Directly after the game Paraguay offered me another year.

After playing way too much fifa 14 over the last 6 months, I wanted a challenge with a team that I plan to use in Fifa 15. I am trying to keep track of buy-out clauses so that I don't keep all my good players if I miss out on a European spot.

Re: How is your FIFA 14 NG Manager Mode going?

So I just finally got around to finishing my first EPL season as Spurs.

The title race came down to the wire on the final day, with a three way battle between myself (ahead with the tie breaker on goal differential), Chelsea & Manu. I would win the title with a ManU draw/loss against Southampton and Spurs beating Fulham (at WHL).

It came down to the end, but I could not find the goal I needed to beat Fulham (ended up drawing 1-1). Little did I know I completely wasted my chance, since ManU ended up drawing against Southampton (1-1). I heard the announcers reference the first Southampton goal, and I knew ManU scored at least one but I wasn't sure if they were ahead or tied (I wish EA would have some sort of score ticker, or better title race presentation on the final day).

The final standings ended with my Spurs in 3rd place, nicked on goal differential by Chelski:

            1. Manu, 82 points
            2. Chelski, 81 points, +44 GD
            3. Spurs, 81 points, +43 GD

I'll update later with the final table & statistical leaders.

Overall it was a tremendous season for my Spurs, gaining a Champions League place and me not being fired like so many prior Spurs managers.

I'm also heading into the World Cup managing England, so that should be an interesting challenge.

Re: How is your FIFA 14 NG Manager Mode going?

Been a while since I updated. 2017-18, first year of Bournemouth being in the EPL and we get lucky as all get out and finished 4th. Made a late run at the end of the season. With 10 games to go we were in 10th. Moved up 6 spots in 10 games. And we only won 6 of those games. Lost 2 and drew 2. Got a lot of help from Arsenal and Everton falling apart. Both lost their last 6 games to end the season. We also lost in the first round of both cups, capital and f.a.

We were bought out, ended up having a bunch of funds to spend mid season to bolster the squad. Now there was been so many changes to the team I can't remember who came in and out when.

In the 2018 WC, Paraguay made it out of the group stage along with France. France had 7 points, we had 5. We drew with them and Slovenia. And we beat Whales.

In the round of 16 we beat Netherlands 1-0 on a late goal in extra time. We won though because of a glitch and I felt like I cheated. They had a chance to tie the game to go to penalties, but the cpu screwed itself over. Player was fouled just outside the box, and an advantage was played, he took the shot and it went in. They scored, it should have counted. But then the game pulled it back for a free kick. The ref blew the whistle for the free kick just as the made contact with the ball. They of course missed the free kick and the blew for full time.

Then in the quarter finals we played Belguim. We went up 1-0 at half, then fell apart in the second giving up two goals to lose 1-2. After the game I retired from being the skipper of Paraguay. I was set the goal of making it to the semis, and while I came close I failed to win the confed cup. I felt like I was probably going to be shown the door so I got out ahead of it.

Currently have an offer on the table from Mexico that I am considering. There are only four jobs that could be offered to me that I would take over Mexico. Italy, England, Scotland or Columbia. They have roughly a month to make me an offer before I have to, and will accept the Mexico job.

As for Bournemouth, we've started the new year 3-2-0. And made it past the playoff round and into the group stage of the champions cup. And with a very different roster from the season before. Lots of players wanted out due to playing time. And I picked up a lot of other players via trade/money combos from this. The most notable was getting Jack Wilshere from Arsenal for Brek Shea and 6 million. Shea had been on a big slump of form and wanted out due to me not playing as much so I though the trade was a win win. Arsenal agreed since Wilshere wanted out of there also.

Before each game you can toggle on/off the other games that the "third announcer" will give audio updates to....it is a few lines below team management where you make lineup changes....You also have to make sure you don't turn the third announcer off which is also an audio option....the only time I use it is at the end of the season when needed like you did in this senario. You can have between 0-5? games that you hear scoring reports.

Re: How is your FIFA 14 NG Manager Mode going?

I just got fired from Bournemouth. Not even all the way through the second season in the EPL (4th with the team). Didn't make it out of the group stage of the Champions Cup. In a group with Juventus, Bor. Dortmund and Ajax. I finished 3rd. And I lost in the first round of the Capital One cup and the F.A. cup again. Had some problems with injuries and ended up dropping a bunch of games after the winter transfer window. Was sitting in 13th on the table.

                  Spoiler

So then I get to the screen of new jobs. The only jobs outside of England was one job in France (can't remember who) and four jobs in Germany. I though, hey lets make this realistic. I'll pick the team with the worst record. And I found that job in Germany. I found a team with 0 wins on the season.

But look at that objective. Finish mid table? You surely mean avoid relegation right? Because there are only 6 games left in the Bundesliga season. And looking at the roster and this table. There is no way I am winning all 6 of those. And even if I did, I wouldn't finish mid table. So maybe this job will last 6 games?

This should be interesting to say the least.

EDIT: I know why they can't win a game. There is no goal keeper on the roster.

Re: How is your FIFA 14 NG Manager Mode going?

Finished up my 2nd season with Peterborough United in 17th place of the Football CHampionship!...Avoided relegation and didn't get fired!

The 3rd season still has me shaping my roster!...My side really struggled we sat in the relegation for most of the season and nutted out a few wins in the backend of the season. My squad is so young probably shouldn't have been promoted in my first year, as I have battled to get the wins on the board!.

Building my squad around Adama, Zelalem, Assombalonga, I picked up 2 young kids from a scouting run in Japan, So far Oda Masaoka has been really impressive for a 17 year old and Hiroya Takishida has been sent on loan to Southend to develop his skills a little more!.

I wanted to make a big signing this season and add another Striker next to Assombalonga as Connor Washington struggled at times. So i made a few sales and sold my back up striker Connor Washington, my starting goalkeeper Jamal Blackman who didn't progress much at all and back up GK Joe Day seemed more than competent to hold the starting role, Kgosi Nthle wanted to be transfered so I sold him to Blackburn for $1,000,000.

I felt we needed some experience upfront, so I purchased ST Arouna Kone from Everton for $2,000,000 and his wages were $55,000.
This was not one of my smarter moves, I scouted Kone all year, He seems strong and skillfull but so slow and to make it worse he went down in the first game and is out for 4 weeks I probably should have loaned another player in for the season instead!...Lesson learnt!

I think if my squad can avoid relegation (and I can avoid getting fired) we can really move up in my 4th year of being manager!, But this season will be another season about development and experience for my super young squad, I have some youth scouts in England and hopefully will sign some talent through the academy!

You've never been fired in the game?
Ya it does that and then you have to hit the button to sign the terminated contract. Then it immediately takes you to a screen where you can pick from teams willing to hire you. And usually there are way more teams than there should be. And teams that shouldn't be really offering you a job since you just got fired.

Oh I heard the report, I just wasn't paying close enough attention since I was in the midst of a 1-1 match. What I want is a place to see the textual score any time I want, i.e. I could pause the game in the 85' and check the scores around the league.
