2014-2015 Recap for my Southampton Career

Tough year all around given the lofty goals set by the board. I wish there was a way for the game to re-assess the objectives during the season. Anyways, like the real Southampton, we lost a couple of key pieces during the summer transfer window. Arsenal went after Lallana and Rodriguez and, ultimately, both ended up leaving to different teams. I brought some help at keeper to replace the aging Boruc and a couple of loan players but we didn't start rolling until mid-January when we got a couple of key wins against big clubs.

So since I can't hire a free agent outside the transfer window on I plow in the last six games of the season to try and avoid relegation. We draw in the first two games. Right off the bat the board is not pleased with me and send me an email to let me know. I've been here two games. Give me a break. We then lose our third game. Still sitting at the very bottom of the table 9 points back from the two spots above.

I decide to make some changes to formation and tactics. We pull out a 2-1 win in our next game. And then a 3-0 win the game after that. Now 2-2-1 since I take over. But we are still in 18th place. But now only 3 points back on the two teams above. So we have a shot at staying. Its out of our hands, but if we do our part and win and the two teams above us lose, we would be in 16th spot. With all three of us having 22 points, but us being ahead of them both on goal difference. And in the 16th spot you enter into a two leg playoff with the third place team in 2. Bundesliga. Which they would probably kick our butts. But I'm hopeful.

Also using a non keeper as a keeper is a pain! I was able to keep the one clean sheet because I was basically using 6 defenders. I was running a 5-1-3-1. This is my plan for the last game now also. And if we some how make the playoff. I'm liking the change of pace though.

I got bored and decided to put the USMNT roster from Brazil in the BPL. I just got FIFA 14 on Xbox One the other day thanks to EA Access. Offline is really good even without sliders in my opinion.

Well, we won our final game of the season (prior season) but one of the teams we needed to lose drew so we did not get to play in the promotion playoff. So down to 2. Bundesliga we go for the upcoming season.

We had five players retire at the end of the season. Three backs and two midfielders. And on top of that I took over a very small squad. So there was a lot of work to be done in the summer transfer window. Started with a transfer budget of $16.5M and $120K for wages.

We have been predicted to finish first and win the title along with automatic promotion. Which should be an obtainable goal. We are already four games into the new season and sitting in first on the table with a 3-1-0 record. And we just started having some injury trouble. Both main strikers are out for a few weeks with sprained ankles. So the season might not be as easy as everyone expects.

Also still no offers another national job. Which is to be expected for a short time. After failing to meet the goals of Mexico and resigning after three straight losses in the South American cup group stage. I expect my first few offers to be from lower end teams.

Had more than a few blow outs thus far. Some of these teams are not very good (I am playing on World Class with a set of sliders from the slider forum and on 8 min). But we've also had some tooth and nail battles. And a couple crazy high scoring games. A 5-3 win. A 4-3 win, and a 2-2 draw where we came back from 0-2 down. There has been lots of scoring in this league.

We won our first game of the DFB-Pokal in crazy fashion against Stuttgart from the Bundesliga. A goal in the 119th minute to get the 1-0 win. But we then lost on penalties in our next game against Hoffenheim from the Bundesliga in the round of 16. We drew 1-1 and then they beat us 2-1 on penalties.

Also discovered a gem in ST Yuri. He came in to start in the second game of the season for an injured Alan and has been unstoppable ever since. That has really been the only major change to the lineup since the start of the season.

Have a couple stars in the making sitting in the youth program right now. Trying to hold off on signing them until they are 18 or as close as possible. Or until they complain. Don't have room for them in rotation right now and I never have luck loaning out young guys their first year.

Was also offered the national team job from Germany. And I didn't even hesitate. I signed that contract the second the email came in. As soon as I took over we played two, and the final two, qualifying games for the Euro Championship. We are in second place behind Belgium. Belgium tore the group up and finished with 26 points (8-2-0). We finished with 20 points (6-2-2). We won and drew in the last two games. Looking forward to the EC!

I know this is mostly for me and 99% of you don't give a crap. But I am trying to get something good setup for a template. As I plan on hitting this pretty thoroughly when 15 comes out and using the actual dynasty blog option on the site.

We had a rough patch there after the transfer window with some injuries to key players. And we ended up losing five games. We had made it into the winter transfer window without a loss. This allowed Munich to make a run at the top spot. It was a good battle down the stretch between us. We played them with three games to go. We ended up coming out on top 1-0, but not clinching the top spot. We ended up losing the next match to Inglestadt, and then drawing with Frieburg the last match of the season. We almost didn't win the title. If St. Pauli would have given up another goal to let Munich win in their final match, the title would have been theirs. So our hats off to them!

Yuri had 17 goals by January first. He slowed way down in the second half of the season. He also ended up with a broken tibia and was out for two months. Coming back after that he was not in the same form. However he managed to hold his lead and take the golden boot title for the season.

And the three teams being relegated to 2. Bundesliga for the upcoming season are FC Augsburg (playoff loser), FC K'lautern and Dusseldorf. While Hannover 96, 1860 Munich and Frieburg will all be moving up to the main stage.

And in the European Championship with Germany, we made it out of the group stage with three wins. Beating Poland, Norway and Finland. Then in the quarterfinal we beat England 3-2 in a great game. We got the game winner in extra time. Then we lost in the semifinal to Italy 1-0. Italy went on to beat France for the EC title.

So for the first year in Bundesliga I decided to up to Legendary and alter the sliders a bit more. I think I like these changes as its much harder for me now. Also found my settings had been reset to semi on some things so I changed all that back to 100% manual. Nine games into the season and we are 3-3-3. Sitting mid table. Only scored 9 goals and have a GD of 1.

This season has been stressful. Currently sitting in 7th, tied with 6th at 33 points. Record is 9-6-7. My main man Yuri wanted out. Said he hated Germany and wanted to go back to Spain. He was tearing it up again this year. In fourth place with 9 goals. So I go $15M for him, turned around and bought a young German striker Yusil. Hoping he turns out to be just as good as Yuri was. Also Injuries galore, yay.

I've really been having a lot of fun with this Career Mode with the USMNT in the BPL, but man is defending on Next Gen a lot harder in my opinion. It's mainly the fact that jostling seems to be a lot longer process and sometimes you really get left in the dust by stronger players or players who have that combination of both power and pace. So you have to be a lot more patient which I need to get used to to avoid getting burned often. Definitely think Next Gen is a lot better than last or current gen or whatever it's called. It does seem like possession stats and all that are much more akin to real life if you're using a weaker team against a top tier team. On PS3 I could dominate possession with a Championship or even League 1 team against a top tier BPL team at sides on World Class and Legendary.

This just happened.....god I hate this. Joe Hart saved 3 shots in a row while on the ground. My guys kept kicking it right at him EVEN THOUGH I WAS NOT AIMING THERE.

Of course Suarez had their first goal (which was legit), Their second goal was a "shot" from 45 yards where Mignolet went to kick the ball, glitched, and it rolled right by him.

As for the kicking it right to the keeper on the ground, I've had that happen before too. And I almost broke my controller I was ticked off. You can hold the direction completely away from the net and it will still kick it at the keeper on the ground. Like its scripted. I feel your pain.

Yeah....extremely frustrating.

The table in my season thus far looks crazy. 6 matches in;

Chelsea, Aston Villa, Spurs, Liverpool are top 4....

ManUtd is in dead last with 2 pts and a -9 goal differential. I beat them 3-0. Villa beat them 5-1!
