Re: FIFA 15 Demo Available Now on Xbox One, 360, PC, PS3 - Soon For PS4

Damn some people just ripping this apart.....as a casual fan who follows mostly the BPL I had a blast with the demo. The CPU seems so much more capable and aggresive on offense to me compared to last year's game. The graphics are really nice (although it looked like AA was off on PC, lots of jaggies) and the sound is simply the best in all of sports gaming. The CPU also fouled me and got a couple yellow cards which almost never happened in FIFA 14. I like the new menus too, seem fairly simple but yet let you do lots of things strategically.

I don't know, as a casual fan I can't wait to play this. Now I just need to decide what to buy it on....PC, PS4, One?

Re: FIFA 15 Demo Available Now on Xbox One, 360, PC, PS3 - Soon For PS4

Ok more defending info. This pertains to xbox 360 though, I can't test on xbox one until later tonight.

360 has a "skill" tutorial and one is on defending. EA makes a major point of using B to tackle in the tutorial.

Just played a match on 360 and overall the pursuit and defensive angles taken by my players is better so this might bode well for xbox one (perhaps the 360 version is a later build? who knows?)

But the main thing is RB and A are still nerfed on 360 but to a lesser degree than xbox one, however B is super powered. Last year when you hit B (on both 360 and one) you did a lunging tackle thing that was deadly if not timed perfectly. If you timed it wrong you lunged, missed and then sort of stayed there in your lunge position, frozen, long enough to allow the attacker to move miles away from you.

For 15 (on 360 at least) you can run right along side the attacker and press B repeatedly and sort of just F with the attacker, the results being A) you knock them off balance and they struggle to regain footing B) you win the ball outright C) you poke the ball away (still too often to another CPU player but this is because the CPU support runs way better than the user team so they always have someone nearer to the ball) or D) get called for the foul

D happens infrequently. Post game stats Me Dortmund vs CPU Boca I had 14 tackles and 3 fouls.

They do not seem to track how many times I knocked the CPU off the ball and won it from them 3-4 seconds later.

This is no way fixes the angles the defenders are taking on xbox one (hopefully demo to full game will fix this). But it may enable the user to be more effective when controlling one defender and more or less "assaulting" the attacker to win the ball back which would prevent the CPU attack from waltzing pleasantly through your passive back 4.

Pretty much this. I loved this year's version but it was far from perfect. Visit that board and you'll see it just as many detractors -- probably far more -- than FIFA has here. Same goes for NBA 2K.

Re: FIFA 15 Demo Available Now on Xbox One, 360, PC, PS3 - Soon For PS4

I guess I'm not really understanding why people are tearing apart this game in such a harsh manner. I guarantee there are parts of the game that are unrealistic. Just about every sports game has some. The thing is you have another option to go with. This isn't an NHL situation where you are stuck with the same lousy game. I understand where you hardcore guys are coming from. I'm the same way with the NHL series. However, at least you have another option. There is no need to completely rip a game with the mocking tone when you have another option. If you don't like the game simply state what you don't like and continue to discuss it without trying to make people feel like idiots for buying it, or just move on. It's not fair to the other people on this site to read statements bashing the game and ruining their fun. I've done that on the NHL forums over the years and I've learned that who am I to ruin a game for someone else who is having fun.

I know I don't know the ins and outs of soccer yet. I've only been watching for 7 years and have never really taken the time to study the game to know where guys should be in all situations. I never played the sport and I've always thought that's what makes a video game good or bad. The sports I played I notice the little things. The sport I didn't I can't notice the little details. I can see that teams and players aren't differentiated well at all, but that's about it.

I really think Hockey and Soccer are very very similar in the US. There are hardcore people who understand everything about it, and then the casuals who think what they see in the video game is how it really is when playing or watching the sport. It's aggravating as all hell but as I said at least soccer guys have another option. I'm stuck with either buying NHL 15, not buying at all, or going back to NHL 2k10/2k8. It's a horrid situation to be in. This is the second year in a row I will not have purchased an NHL game because the NHL series is that bad of a representation of hockey.

One last thought. I think Custom Team Tactics could help play a role in making teams play like themselves. I'm not the person to really begin a task like that since I don't have that vast soccer knowledge, but if somebody smart would I think it would benefit this game greatly. Normally every year there is a tactics thread on here. Sure tactics may not solve all of the issues in this game, but at least it could put to rest some of them. In my experience with NHL adjusting the strategies for teams was the only way to make that game playable for me. That's just my two cents. If people want to continue ripping the game go for it. I know it won't ruin my fun because I know Orion will make a killer set of sliders and this game will be good to go.

You can not play halfpaced half high passes into the gap. Your defenders are too dumb to set the attackers offside, the more they seem to try everything to avoid setting them offside. Dribbling is awful. Far too complicated and not responsive at all. And beside the numerous gameplay flaws: The managing part in season mode is horrendous: Trading, contract negotiations have nothing to do with real life. And last but not least my "favorite" funkiller: This game is scripted! Most goals happen in or around extra time. And whats even worse: The whole season is scripted. When you play a great season some other team will, too. If you play mediocre the chances that all other teams will is high.

I will never understand why this game gets so much love from reviewers. Either they are all bribed or they are blinded by graphics and presentation. By the way: The german commentators are by far the worst in any sports title. Dumb, out of sync and repetitive. If anyone critisizes the MLB The Show commentators should listen to the german i*****.

If you think FIFA is better than NBA2k or MLB The Show you have never really played these games.
I think the general consensus is that FIFA isn't on their level yet (The Show/2K) but it's head & shoulders above the rest of EA's offerings.

            I could be wrong though.

Video games are meant to be fun representations of your favorite sport, nothing more, nothing less. As for the FIFA franchise specifically, the dev team does a very good job of giving all manner of gamers a tremendously well produced, well thought out and highly customizable product that can be tailored to give you the experience of your choosing.
And while the sliders and options that the game provides can be manipulated to give a very good simulation style experience, it's certainly never going to be perfect and it's absolutely not going to be realistic. It's a video game, have fun with it.
Another thing I forgot to mention, the keepers. They were rebuilt from the ground up so yeah, they're not perfect in the demo, but the demo is quite old and the keepers are more more polished in the final release. At least that's what I've been told.

Do people not realize that sports games will never ever be 100% representative of said sport? Game company's #1 goal is to make $$. They will make their game to appeal to their largest audience - Casual Sports Fans. I hate to break it to some of you, but die-hards are in the minority and always will be. So, to expect a 100% realist true-sim representation of said sport is just silly.

The companies who are able to provide the best balance for die-hards and casual sports fans tend to produce the best games on a consistent basis.

To those saying FIFA isnt realistic....what are you HONESTLY expecting here? lol.

Of course, anybody who is a mega fan of soccer (or any sport) can sit there and pick apart every fallacy that doesn't represent the real sport. Congrats! If thats what you'd rather spend your time doing...then hey...go for it. Id rather enjoy the game for what it is. IMO. Fifa consistently produces quality games..they may be the most consistent EA dev team out there actually.

Yeah, absolutely this. I didn't get a chance to play FIFA '14 on a next-gen machine, not even in passing. I'm on a PC and was tethered to the old gen game. Now that I played the 15 demo for all of 20 minutes, I have to quit entirely everything I was doing with 14, including a 7 year career with my beloved Nottingham Forest. I think 14 was still the best iteration of the last 5 years, but I consistently found it to be far too much effort to casually enjoy/engage with: scoring was incredibly difficult with the exception of trivializing mechanics with crosses and lofted throughballs. I just never felt there was enough variety to goals.

AI teammate defending was woeful with 14; however, so I absolutely hope that has been improved with 15.

With all of that said, the presentation elements are breathtaking. In 14, the first thing I did before starting a match was make it a night game / clear so that I could see the details of the pitch when playing. With 15, there is so much dynamic range and detail (even on my 2008 Dell!) that I can play in virtually any lighting conditions.

Good to be back at OS arguing FIFA. Can't wait to check in with you all you gents over the next six months! Now where's Gonira?
