My budget is extremely tight right now so most of the players are under 2k. Let me know if there are some hidden gems in La Liga....
Looks good, but here are some alternative gems:

LCM/CCM - Gabi - Can replace Sissoko or Benat (though I love Benat) for an all around midfielder.

CCM - Krychowiak - beast defender

CCM - Mario Suarez - kind of a mix between Gabi and Krychowiak.

RF - Deulofeu - absolutely awesome RW. He's pace is nice, but his dribbling and finisher are incredible. Much better than Vela for me, and cheaper.

LF - Ibai Gomez - Incredible shooting stats if you don't need a ton of pace.

LF - Muniain - Little worse shooting than Gomez, but better pace and tends to get into better positions.

LF - Arda Turan - Fun player to use. I love him as a LM, but he should be able to dribble around everyone at LF.

LB - Siqueira - Better than Ansaldi in every way except pace. Plays better in game, and I have scored multiple 45-50 yard goals with him. One of my favorite LBs in the game.

LB - Antunes - Another solid LB.

RB - De Marcos - He plays awesome for me. His pace really makes him a great defender.

RB - Montoya - Slightly slower than De Marcos, but better offensively.

Finally, Godin in awesome. Don't change him. Pepe was a little weak for me. I've found Mathieu, Inigo Martinez, and Mascherano to be good.

Willie, can you (or anyone else for that matter) explain a little on the 433 False 9?

What does "false 9" mean? Am I correct in that the RW and LW play more toward the box than the CF? Why would this be used over a standard 433, with 2 wingers and a ST?

Also, would like a bit of clarification on the difference between a CF and ST.

      Thanks guys!

Great question, and the simplest way I can explain the "False 9" nomenclature, is that every position on the field has a typical number. The Striker is considered the "nine" player, so the idea of the "false 9" is that you use a very versatile and creative player at the Striker position, but they play more of a very attacking CAM (center attacking mid) role. Think Messi.

In the game, the False 9 is a great formation for ball control and counter attacks.

By having your "nine" play further back from goal than a traditional striker, you create a lot of passing angles in the midfield between your CF (the false nine), right and left CMs, and your CDM. They create a tight diamond shape where you will usually have an open pass somewhere.

For example, if your CF has the ball, he has the following options:
        • Play it to the LW
        • Play it to the RW
        • Hold the ball up
        • Pass it to the LCM
        • Pass it to the RCM
        • Pass it to the CDM
        • Long pass it to the LB/RB

Your LCM has the following passing options:
        • Hold the ball up while players move around
        • Pass it to the LW
        • Lobbed through ball to the RW
        • Short pass to CF
        • Pass it to the CDM
        • Pass it across midfield to the RCM
        • Pass it back to LB
        • Pass it back to your CBs

As you can see, every position on the field has a ton of passing options at one time. It's up to you to find the right pass that is available to you at the time. Once you get good at this, the formation is extremely good at holding the ball and keeping pressure on offense.

Another thing about having the LW/RW combination without a traditional striker is that these players tend to get involved more in your attack. A lot of players this year are finding that the wingers are way too isolated in other formations. The False 9 formation limits this, and in fact makes these positions shine as they are your main goal scorers. Players like Reus, Lavezzi, Aubameyang, Schurrle, Quareshma, etc. are all really good in these positions.

TLDR: This formation is great at possessing the ball, and if you can find the right passes, you can absolutely dominate high pressure players, because you have so many options with the ball.

Yeah Walcott is definitely good for now, I've noticed agility means A LOT more this year than previous FIFA's. I remember players like Peter Crouch being able to make the same agile cuts as Messi. Sanchez is considerably more agile than Walcott so I'd definitely upgrade to Sanchez eventually.

So I find myself constantly scouring futhead searching for new players to fit into different schemes.

I think the formation that I have found to like the best (with the talent I've acquired) is the 4-1-2-1-2 (2). I am also thinking of giving the 4-5-1 (2) a shot, although I don't know how I feel about only having 1 ST.

I'd like to solicit your opinions, just on what your preference is on formation and why you like it (pros/cons).

You guys have been invaluable with your advice and expertise, and I am curious to know what YOU prefer to use--and potentially give it a shot myself.

a formation ive been having recent success with is the 4-2-3-1-(2) . after the patch this formation seems to flow nicely and is solid defensively. aguero fills that lone striker spot well especially if you have decent attacking lm and rm players. at the cdm positions you can use one shutdown defender like matic or Fernando. the other cdm position can be a more offensive cdm like ramires or fabregas.

using custom tactics and player instructions really help bring this formation to life offensively. setting your striker to press back line- get in behind- stay central.

lm and rm set to cut inside- get in behind.

I set my defensive cdm to stay back on attack the same with both CB's. set your offensive cdm to go forward.

I love the 4-3-3 after the most recent update. i've never been a fan of the 4-5-1, but the formation I've had the most success with is the 4-2-3-1 and the 4-1-2-1-2 in the variants with CM's as well as a LM and RM.

I have a team that consists of the likes of eden hazard, diego costa, and alexis sanchez, yet the top scorer is jack wilshere. Regular one at that. There's definitely something wrong with my playstyle, regardless of the wins i'm getting.

What do you guys think about the 3-5-2?

It is very intriguing with 3 CB and 2 CDM--just curious to know if any of you like using it?

Keep in mind, I only play offline vs CPU.

Edit: Also, is it necessary to have 3 CB as the three defenders? Couldn't I use a LB or RB on the outside?

Dumb question, but can I change my formation or do I have to create a new team? Can I also bring the players I've bought over to that new team? The 4-4-2 isn't working for me.

you can change your formation without building a new team. when your on your squad screen look on the left side of the screen and you should see a box with your formation setup in it, I think its left trigger to open formations and then just scroll left or right to choose a new setup.

once you change formations you will obviously have to make sure your players fit into the positions for that formation. hope this makes sense as im a little hungover this morning
