Really hate how some of the players are "extinct" and completely off the market right now.

I've wanted to play with Neymar for awhile and his non upgraded card is something like 175-250k. Can't find a single one.

Nope, you'll most likely end up with 6 rare contacts, 4 rare kits/stadia/badges and 2 crappy rare players that you're better of discarding for 650 coins then trying to sell.

This is an absolute crapfest now. EA took a free perfectly running free market capitalist economy and turned it into a steamy pile of socialist crap.

Yes, coin sellers and bot's probably weren't a good thing overall, but it sure sparked some activity (bots were active all the time buy & selling, which is good....activity is good....demand is good). EA just effectively removed all excitement from FUT because they want to sell more FIFA points.

And you know what, if I ever opened a pack and got an actual top tier player I may have been more apt to buy FIFA points instead of coins & bot software, but I've played FUT long enough to have never once got a player worth a damn in a pack. Packs are utter crap. I spent 200k one day on some special promo packs, best I got was an dumb IF Spanish keeper that I sold for a whopping 9k. On a 200k investment I believe I only earned back about 70k on sales, with no worthwhile additions to my club.

EA effectively ruined FUT because of their greed. I am now stuck with a bunch of IF Jonathan Pereria's that I paid > 60k for and would sell for 80-100k, he now is a max price of 45k and I'm stuck having to try to offload him at a massive loss.

And the icing on the cake is the web & companion apps still don't work, so you're stuck using FUT on the console, which is one of the most mind numbingly tedious/boring things I can think of.

Re: Official FUT 15 Discussion Thread

I think the other thing that's interesting is because everyone has these set values and ideas of what FUT is, this change really assaults a lot of them.

Maybe there shouldn't be so many 87+ rated teams? Maybe you should have to sell your soul for Ronaldo and then build what you can around him rather than having every amazing player? Maybe you shouldn't?

Again, I'm not trying to make value judgments or say whether I like or dislike these changes, it's just interesting to see the reactions themselves. Plus, I love seeing what happens on the marketplace. Like, yeah, does this just mean there won't ever be Neymars up anymore because it's worth more just to keep him? And is that even a bad or good thing? Maybe it's bad because yeah you only can get him through packs and that's a big crapshoot, but maybe it's super special if you get him? Maybe a million coins for selling Ronaldo gets you pretty much an amazing team you otherwise couldn't afford and so he acts as a transfer from a lowly team that funds your current squad for the months to come.

At the same time, people who just liked buying and selling players more than playing the game do sort of get left out in the cold right now -- I don't think you ever want to ostracize a current player, especially one not doing something illegal -- but maybe these types of users aren't very common?

No one is willing to sell their upper tier players for these set amounts, especially since they probably spent a lot more to get them.

I know I'm not selling my Robben and taking a huge loss. I'd just rather keep him.

You will see a lot of other top cards disappear from the market for the same reason. Seems EA didn't account for this as part of their greedy strategy.

All in all im not too bummed about it. I had my fun with the coins i bought and have 6 squads to play with, I'm keeping my players...i mean i do spend most of the time on ut actually playing games anyway. The market for 15 is screwed now though we're pretty much beta testing this new system for 16 and im sure it helps get all the initial hate out of the way.

Re: Official FUT 15 Discussion Thread

I HIGHLY encourage everyone to read this. Very fascinating and radical view on the changes. Written by a University professor...

The elimination of a free market is the first step in Socialist theory, along with the nationalization of independent business.
History has taught us that this is modus operandi of all dictatorships wishing to create an utopian society of 'equality'. It is classic Marxist theory, with a little Stalin muscle to back it.

Yes, this is just a game, and hardly comparable to the Cuban Revolution, Soviet Russia, or Kim Il Sung's regime, but in the end it is human nature and emotions that will be at play. So, here's what will happen:
By setting a price band, EA has manufactured the end of two things: Inflation and Deflation. The inflation of goods (players) has been capped to a point where there is no longer profit to be found in investing. Why? Simple capitalism. The only reason anyone buys stock is the belief that every company has the potential for a golden breakthrough, and one will own the next Microsoft or Apple. Investment is the belief that an expenditure will provide returns with maximum limits. But there is now a visible cap to all ROI (Return on Investment). This means that everyone knows a player will never go past a certain number, and this eliminates the promise of investing in players. Face it, No one is going to buy more than one player X when you know that every other player X on the market will be available for comparable price. No longer will there be fluctuations, as there is no room to fluctuate to. so what will we see? Simple: Hoarding of personal use goods. If people buy a desirable player for market cap (as is the only way anyone selling that card will be willing to list it), they will feel no need to list it on the market, as they know they will not be able to sell it for more than they bought it for, and with the 5% tax, there is definitely a penalty for engaging in market trade, we will see the continuation of "extinct" players.

Without inflation there will no longer be an urgency to engage in market trading. People's coins will be much more precious, as everyone will be reluctant to take a loss of their hard earned coins to make experiment teams, vanity teams, etc. We will all know that a loss is unrecoverable by market trading.
At the other end we now have a cap on deflation. This is potentially more devastating to the poorer users of the game. There will no longer be the natural curve of market prices on used goods. towards the final 3 or 4 months of a release titles life span, prices of the midrange players (think Gotze) used to slide down till they were in reach of more 'casual' players who haven't been accumulating wealth via trading (which will cease to exist anyway) or via massive number of games played. With a now minimum price, that is far above what the natural deflation would have been by the end of the games cycle (when untold thousands of Gotzes have been issued), all you will see is those thousands of Gotzes on sale for minimum bid, and if you're the seller, you have nearly zero chance of simply selling the damn thing, as you can no longer undercut competitors. Of course buyers at the low spectrum will NOT be buying, because they will not spend that much coin on what is no longer a player worth his price.

This will create another side effect, that is EXTREMELY beneficial to EA: Obsolescence of FUT 15 much quicker than any previous version became undesirable to play. Historically players have played older versions for many months, enjoying very cheap markets that will allow them to play with players that were out of reach when the title was current. That's no longer going to be the case. The marketplace will be a gosht town. In fact, the number of live transfers is even now way below what it was before the update.

In short, every user of the game has been forced into a Soviet style economy. The government sets workers salaries at low levels (low DNF multiplier, low rewards), tightly controls the supply of luxury goods (improbable cardweights), prevents free trade (with market caps), and eliminates merchant competitiveness (by setting a low cap that prevents undercutting).

Additionally, all socialist societies have an ultra rich elite that will forever be untouchable. We will have that too. Because the only way to have a great team will be to spend hundreds and hundreds of real US Dollars (or pounds) in buying FIFA points to open as many packs as possible. Of course, there will be the few lucky ones that open a Ronaldo or Messi in a pack, but we know that due to cardweight, this is statistically improbable.

So there you have it. All the follies of the Soviet Bloc of the 20th century have been skillfully and dramatically implemented by the foolish Canadian ( I'm assuming) programmers that are probably too young to remember the Cold War, and certainly never paid attention to history textbooks.
Welcome to the new motherland, Comrades.

EDIT- Several people have asked about the effect of EA changing the price range periodically. This is another socialist staple, and used by many governments in the past to disastrous results. If you hold a good but have no assurance that the value of that good will be the same when you wake up any given day, you will either hoard the good permanently, or withdraw from market participation. This is historically true, and will happen here as we are all humans that react in predictable ways.

I somehow managed to get Shaw for 300, Hart for 800, Ramsey for 650, Wilshere for 900, and Walcott for 750.

No, he absolutely nailed it. This is exactly what I said initially, way to take a free market capitalist economy and turn it into a socialist pile of steamy dog poop. That reddit poster is spot on, EA screwed the pooch on this one and effectively ruined FUT.

I think coin sellers/buyers ruined the game personally. EA probably saw that their revenue for FIFA points were down, so they took action.

Yeah, I'm finding the youtubers reaction to this pretty hilarious. No more coin sponsers to buy their legend and TOTY players for them, and now they can't play their wager matches against other entitled youtubers with the same sponsors. Tragic.
