Re: Really want to love this game but 90th minute goals/scripting are killing me agai

I just had this happen to me in the 88th minute. I was up 1-0 to west ham. The ball gets deflected to my player valencia in the box, the cpu slides in, I turn and hit x to clear it but he clips me from behind taking out my player while he is in the kicking motion, the cpu gets up rather fast, I charge my goalie thinking he is going to go down and grab it but no he stands in front of the cpu player and he scores on me. Seriously EA?! You are happy with this product you put out?

I usually find that lesser teams play like they should. Like in my Burnley Career, they're a Premier league team, and with the players I added, they're way above the Championship league team that they are in the default roster. In the Capital One cup when I play against lower league teams, I decimate them on almost every occasion. I don't doubt your experience though, just saying what it's like on my end.

Re: Really want to love this game but 90th minute goals/scripting are killing me agai

Wow, I am amazed that this thread is still going strong. I guess I struck a nerve.

As I continue to play this game, there are things that still continue to frustrate me greatly. Some have been brought up by others. Right now, I would say my three biggest frustrations (playing on WC) are...

        1) the amazing slide tackles of the CPU, especially the "rocket slide" as I call it. This is where the CPU slides straight at you (perfectly timed of course even if you make a move around it first) and manages to get the ball about halfway down the pitch, usually right to a teammate. Maybe that just happens to me. I also like the inspector gadget like side slide tackle where they somehow stretch out in slow motion and poke the ball away. The few times I try to slide tackle, the CPU almost always manages to perfectly time their move around it.

        2) the ridiculous physical nature of the CPU versus the human player. No matter what I do, the CPU are virtually impossible to push off the ball, even with a much stronger player. If I do manage to bump them off, it is almost always called a foul. Meanwhile, my players will get bumped off the ball with ease (even when using ball protect) and sometimes rather violently with no foul called. Strength ratings and size don't seem to matter. Very frustrating. Anyone ever try to get the ball away from CPU when they are protecting in the corner near end of game? Good luck. Doesn't matter how big the player is, they will be a rock.

        3) the lack of difference between bad teams and good teams. Whether I am playing Man City or Burnley, it feels the same. Actually, I think I win more against the good teams than I do against the bad ones. The bad teams just play way better than they should. I had a CL qualifier game in year 2 of my Spurs MM against a team with a rating of 67. My team was a solid 81-82 level after transfers and such. I drew the first leg 0-0 because I always got knocked off the ball. They always caught up to my speed guys or ran right with me. There was nothing I could do the entire game. Certainly the ratings of the players involved were not the same, so there was obviously some sort of boost for the CPU that affected the play.

Bad teams normally park the bus against good teams and hope they can catch a lucky counter attack. In my experience, this is rarely the case.

I don't know for sure if this game is scripted but I still have those games (often) where I will be winning and I just "know" that the CPU will tie. No matter what I do, a clearance will only go straight up in the air. A deflection will occur that gives the CPU the ball. One of my human AI players will stand and not react to a player. A pass that is wide open will mysteriously go in the wrong direction. It happens too often to not be something in the programming of the game.

To be fair, it happens to me too for my benefit. I admit that but I don't like it. I wish the game would just play "fair" each and every game I play. I want my quality of play along with the the quality of the two teams to decide the outcome, not some mysterious boosts or dynamic difficulty that makes things feel so fake and "scripted".

Re: Really want to love this game but 90th minute goals/scripting are killing me agai

Well I know in madden, EA put in a touch reaction in the game. For instance, the safety is no where near my receiver but as soon as i hit any button and my qb is in his throwing motion the safety magically moves in the direction of the pass even if they are 30 yards up field. I would not be surprised if EA put something of this kind in fifa for the harder difficulties that allow the cpu to react much quicker to our moves. Thats why we see them always perfectly time their slide tackles on your shot or pass even the direction you are aiming or the way you are moving on the ball and off the ball. So the higher you go up in difficulty the more potent these effects will show. This to me is the only explanation I can think of why we see the cpu some times act like jedi.

this thread almost leads me to believe some of you have ever watched a game, literally. There is late goals scored all the time due to one team pushing etc. Some of you I don't think understand how hard it is to secure a victory. Just
look at Arsenal? Liverpool? or Newcastle & Man United at the beginning of the season? or am I just clueless and never watched a match? Cuz Im pretty sure I watch every weekend and throughout the week. Arsenal blow leads every week like its their job. Newcastle in the beginning of the year were just getting by with late goals to save a point and a draw.

There is no scripting in the game. Just CPU attack more when losing at the end of the game? just like in real life, just like you would do if you were losing or wanted the win? or am I just making that up.

But if you were losing, got a cheap goal and won or got a draw, would you be saying its scripted? lol gimme a break, do better. Go look at the standing so you can see how hard it is to win a match in the Barclays if your name isn't Chelsea. & sure we'll see if Southampton hold up. but no way game is scripted

Seriously? So if you were about to clear the ball in your own box and the cpu slide tackles you from behind and doesn't touch the ball takes you down and scores thats just part of the game? Ya ok buddy

Did the ref call it? play on then. Ya Ok Buddy? lolol Im pretty sure in every single game ever played the ref makes no calls and or bad calls? or I'm wrong about that to? You got tackled from behind, you conceded a goal, and that means the game is scripted. Sure. Carry on.

Every complaint on here just makes you sound like you aren't any good at the game. Learn to avoid slide tackles and understand you won't win every 50/50 ball. Pay attention to what everyone is doing not just who has the ball on their foot. This thread is comical.

Again, not doubting experiences, but for me, the majority of the time the CPU attempts a slide tackle, they're fouled for it. Sometimes they actually touch the ball first and get away with a hard slide tackle, but most of the time they go off their feet, yellow cards galore.

I use to believe there were "scripted" goals, but nope.
The CPU changes tactics and formations depending on the game time/score/situation. It happens in real life. It happens when you change things up to stay ahead or trying to catch up. I will admit that some games I can't do anything right and the CPU can't do anything wrong, but I know wht to expect late in a game.

Some will try to protect a 1-0 lead late in a game, but I run a 4-3-3. I don't come out of that formation. I continue to press their back line. Because the CPU is in "all out score mode" my counter attacks are deadly.

I get being upset about "staged comebacks," but adapt and overcome.

                            That's incredibly flawed logic.

The length of the thread is not an indication of scripting it's an indication of the fact people don't agree on the topic. If there were a 15 page thread on Bigfoot would that mean he must exist?

                                This!

I just played a game where I was leading 2 - 1 late in the game. Then with a minute left, the CPU player attempted to kick it to his goalie, and the goalie accidentally let it go in the net - I ended up winning 3 - 1. It was right after I saw this thread. I said to myself the CPU should start a thread about human comeback logic - LOL! Then, in another game, I was loosing 2 - 0 at the 75th, minute. I scored a goal to make it 2 -1 in the 81st minute, then in the 88th minute, I scored again to make it 2 - 2 and the game ended a tie.

For me, the end of games are dynamic and not at all scripted. I play on professional with 10 minute halves.
When the game is on the line, winners want the ball.
