    #changecareermode

hey guys one of my favorite career mode youtubers, canisports, is starting a movement for ea to change career mode! I just thought I would share this with you guys cuz I know most of us play a lot of careers. Hope you support the movement! #changecareermode

As someone who enjoys career mode as is, what would you change about it? I'm not saying modes can't be improved, but as far as EA goes, this seems like one of the better "franchise" modes of their sports games. Maybe it's just me?

There's a stupid 15 year limit. The player transfer logic is horrendous. Would Real Madrid sign 3 of the top 10 strikers in the world. There is a bug/glitch where the players names in your Youth Academy are stupid and horrendous. In my Juventus career mode I have a player whose FIRST NAME is Loftus-Cheek. There is no Champions League license and that exclusive has ended this year. Also some team's budgets seem completely off. I will use Juventus again, there budget using the Euro is around 23 million. They could easily spend twice that amount on just ONE player. That's all I can think of right now.

Well...Real Madrid MIGHT. Lol! There are already rumors that they're wanting Harry Kane, now. That team just wants EVERY good player. Sure hope they don't get their hooks into him.

All at the same time? And I am talking like Aguero, Suarez and another guy. Guys that no team would sell unless their underlying circumstances, ie Suarez biting a guy and getting suspended for 6 months.

Well, look at what they already have and now they want Kane and De Gea. I can't stand Real. In FIFA, I know what you mean about Aguero and Suarez. They end up with a new team every transfer period if you don't use the save and reload method. Gets super annoying.

Yea De Gea makes sense though because Casillas is getting old. Don't much about Kane and maybe they will sell Benzema.

Well, let's just start with a small list (I could honestly go on for pages):
                - There are less features in CM than there were in PS2 and Original Xbox versions of the game that are almost a decade old.
                - AI Teams will sell all of their GKs and not replace them. In my FIFA15 CM, Bayern sold all of their GKs and did not replace them so they got relegated because they ended up player their LB in goal the whole season.
                - As said above, 15 year limit on CM.
                - No ability to respond to player requests for wages, PT or other discontentments.
                - In one CM, I had a brazilian player who I had promoted from my YA want to leave because he was homesick. Left my team, RB Leipzig, for Dortmund.
                - No season to season stat tracking for individual players.
                - No stat tracking for other leagues.
                - Poor growth in physical stats for YA players.
                - No youth scouting for AI teams
                - Bugs that have been in the game for multiple years.
                - Teams having games scheduled 2 days in a row.
                - No ability to influence simulated games (should at least be able to make subs).
                - Entirely too difficult to loan out young players.
                - Pointless manager salary. You as a manager should earn pts instead of salary that you can allocate to improvements to staff and use in training the team.
                - Takes almost 20 - 30 minutes to start a new season in CM once you are 5 to 6 years in (this is on PS4, btw).
                - No trophy case.
...... I could go on and on.

                  Re: #changecareermode

I'm not saying that this career mode is amazing but it's pretty darn good. Your complaint about the first name being weirdd seems valid although I'm pretty sure that only started happening after the most recent patch. As for the rest of your issues:

The transfer logic is fine, the problem is lack of dynamic team sheets. If RM buys 3 strikers, they should adapt to use them. Barca has Messi, Neymar and Suarez upfront. Man City has Aguero, Bony, Jovetic, Negredo and Dzeko. Man United are playing Rooney in the midfield because they have too much firepower upfront. Sorry but football transfers are wacky and I think this game captures that just fine.

The Champions league license would be nice but that's not a flaw with the mode, per se. At least we have most european league licenses unlike PES. The bigger problem for me would be creating a more realistic depiction of the MLS with a salary cap, CONCACAF Champions League, DPs and maybe even the NASL.

If we're going to complain about stuff, let's make sure it's stuff that's actually broken or in need of an overhaul rather than arbitrarily saying that transfers are broken because clubs buy too many players.

Lastly, as for the transfer budgets. Juve spent 23 million euros this past summer, so I'd say EA's budget is reflective of that. See here for spending in Italy this summer: http://www.betinf.com/italy_transfer.htm. In light of fair play rules, the budgets are pretty decent for the most part. Chelsea hasn't actually spent any money this year, depsite bringing in Remy, Costa, Cuadrado and Fabregas... because they sell players to compensate.

                    Re: #changecareermode

My biggest problem with career mode is that the system they have right now makes it impossible to have more than a 15 year limit. As said before, there is no YA for the AI teams. Youth prospects don't grow correctly.
Ever notice that after 8 years the only FK specialists you'll find are in their 30's (most of them are in their late 30's). If it went beyond 15 years, they'd run out of players to fill the teams.

YA players are all the same. You'll never find a ST that has pace....the only pacey players are LBs. It'd be one thing if you can change a players position...but you can't. And please don't say "play him at a ST anyway"...because his value will be 1/3 of what it really is because the AI will only look at him as a LB.

nba 2k does a really good job with career mode and it'd be cool if Fifa took a few inspirations from that. In 2k you can sit down and have talks with all your players and personnel. You can talk to the owner and he'll tell you precisely what he wants out of the club, whether it be to tank and get a nice pick or go all in on a super team and win the championship. You can do individualized training for each player on your squad too so if you want Shabazz Napier to work on passing, speed and offensive consistency you can but have Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh both focusing on conditioning and stamina.

One of my biggest loves of Fifa though is how difficult it is to find good cheap players (Of course if you look at a database it'll be easy) but just going on in game knowledge its pretty fun searching and combing each league looking for that next young star that no one knows about. I wish loaning players was easier though.

                        My gripes:
                        - Relatively static budgets. IMO this KILLS what I see as the ultimate challenge - building a team up through the 4 english leagues. No point when i start with burton albion and enter the BPL with a 15k wage bucket and <500k transfer budget. Find a way to make it grow over time if you move up and stay up and doing well. Sure - it may never make it to the elite level budget - but it should move enough to allow you to compete.
                        - 15 year limit
                        - YA players not growing in physical stats (or not growing ENOUGH)
                        - Better YA scouting & competition from the CPU.
                        - Better YA template variety (every Winger RW is ~73 spd, 5'5 - 5'9, etc)
                        - Fix the broken (but awesome) RB/LB Wingers.
                        - Better year over year stat tracking - both player & team. I would love to see players rack up records for career goals, etc.

The biggest problem with career mode, by far, is the lack of decent youth players.

All youth players are slow. The fastest youth players are in the 70's for speed. Terrible. And they dont fill out physically either... but frankly the speed issue is a massive problem.

It makes playing the career mode kind of pointless after 6 years or so, when you notice its just a bunch of geezers out there or slow kids.

If EA doesn't fix this issue I wont be buying the game next year, plain and simple.

Career Mode Shortcomings & General Game Flaws:

                            General Flaws:

                            MATCH RATINGS!!! -

The algorithm by which player match performance is calculated is illogical and seemingly random. For example, I'll have a CM who has a 90% pass accuracy rating, 1 goal, 2 assists and 5 key passes... his match rating might be an 8.9 or so by the 70th minute. Then, a sub will come on at another position, score 1 goal, get a match rating of 9.6 and get man of the match. Players who are subbed out with high match ratings will see their rating drop as the match goes on... presumably because the game continues to rate them as if they are simply not producing on the pitch. Finally, there is a 'Possession lost/obtained' (might not be this name exactly) statistic that impacts match rating, and it basically punishes players for being active and attempting to create chances. If I play a through ball to a striker after beating 3 defenders and completing 2 give-and-go passes, and that final pass is intercepted, then the statistic is marked as my having lost possession. By the end of the match, a CM might end up with a 4/15 ratio on possession, while a defender will have a high possession rating due to the fact that his job is to regain possession and then get the ball to playmakers.

                            No Team Match-Up Screen -

When beginning a match, it would be nice if some data about the two teams was displayed. If not team ratings (off, mid, def), then at least a little info about league standing, their squad, etc...

                            Career Mode Flaws:

                            *All of the previously mentioned*

Transfer System is a Joke - this is well established, so I don't think an explanation is needed.

Player Career Mode - Player age is relegated to 19 at the youngest... why?

Fatigue - When a player ends a match with his stamina at 40%, a 3-day beak should not be insufficient. I played college ball, and we would have tournaments in which we played a game each day... I did not struggle to regain my stamina at all, because we were well-conditioned. Why, then, would professional athletes take 5-days to get back to 100%?

Match statistics/post-match stats are not consistent:

If I look at the in-game pass percentage of my career pro and it is in the 90% range, why is it that when I look at my pass completion % in my objectives it is often ~10 %lower?

This is just off the top of my head. Great game, but a few simple improvements would be nice.

                            Carson

I noticed how bad this is in my current game that has been going 10 years (I didn't realize there is a 15 year limit, good to know, I had been thinking about abandoning Career mode for awhile now I will for sure).

After 10 years , the top players on other clubs consist of two types: 1) Players from the original roster set who are still playing in their mid-to-late 30s, and 2) Players I developed that then demanded transfer. The AI doesn't develop youth players so its no wonder there's a 15 year limit, as there simply would be no more decent players after that time. Really pretty shocking how awful it is.
