I watched the video while I kept notes ... this is very stream-of-consciousness ... I have made some effort to clean up my thoughts ... but mostly I wanted to get this discussion underway.
And, yes, this will be pretty long ... it is probably worth it ...

Matt10 video:
===“Move your man and let him go, switch to another player”===
Do you trust your teammate to do the right thing (on defense)? Do you use “teammate press” when you switch to another player? You do not “chase” the CPU player in possession - right?
Control the defensive mid … I try this … avoid taking active control of anyone on my backline (LB/CB/RB) Are you using jockey (LT) while you control your DM? Only the L-Stick? No sprinting? What is your switching setting? If you let your teammates play, sometimes the system switches me into control of one of them (this usually happens if they sort-of win the ball, only temporarily, because the CPU then wins it right back).
No secondary pressure at the top of the box … I saw that your player “over-pursued” and that was too much … better jockey here? At 30:02 … yeah - I do that too much - I am constantly switching as soon as I loose possession - I need to trust my other players.
===“You can’t be one dimensional in this game”===
I think that I do have a problem with this … I tend to play short passes along the ground and I am reluctant to make longer attacking passes (either through ball or over the top) because I feel like the CPU shuts that down. In “real life”, you have to keep the defense honest, but the CPU does not “learn” tendancies (or get fooled). When I first began with FIFA, I played the “Swansea Way” … lots of possession, safe … that is what I am used to. I have trouble trying other things because I am already doing so poorly, and I am not sure about other approaches.
If I try to use some more long balls … will the CPU just always beat me to it, and clear it? How can I get some “wins” in this one? How do you get enough people forward? Either for counter-attacks or to receive the long ball or even for lobbed through balls?
===“Use secondary pressure for any 50/50 balls”===
What is secondary pressure? How does this help me with loose balls? Is this also for balls in the air (like goal kick punts)? I do feel like I lose way more than 50% of 50/50 balls … so I am maybe not doing something right on this one. Winning “balls in the air” is not something that I can do consistently enough … is it a timing thing? Which button to press? LT?
It seems that the CPU is ALWAYS better at knowing where the loose ball is going to go, reacting to it way more quickly than me.
Do I *not* hold L-Stick when I am using secondary pressure? Do I “pulse” the secondary pressure? Get a feel for this … OK … do not hold anything down … more of tapping … does this apply for the tackle button as well? Never go for tackles?
===“Sprinting on defense”===
Yeah … I totally try to be self-aware with this … but you would say it is OK for “LT+RT”? Like “jockey+sprint”? The CPU seems to be so much faster than me … and they beat me so easily … I feel like I am always sprinting to keep up … and that just makes it easier for them to beat me a second time.
===Momentum discussion at 15:45===
You release sprint (RT) … but do you continue to hold the L-Stick? … or do you release L-Stick and then press (LT)? I have been trying to figure out the inertia effects in this game … when should I let my player “drift” … The CPU exploits their better understanding of momentum, they constantly use sprint-stop-sprint when they are in possession. They can quickly change direction while my player needs an extra beat to regroup.
The timing of “when to release L-Stick” is something that I think I could be better at. And I think the momentum might actually depend on how long my player had been sprinting for. I appreciate this from a physics standpoint (I am an engineer) … but it is giving me trouble in the game control.
You do “secondary pressure with momentum” into a tackle right before the end of the first half … how?
===Avoid the slide tackles===
Are you using any of the “shield the ball” thing? I think this is LT when in possession? Maybe I am always facing the goal with the ball too much? Is this CPU more aggressive when I am facing the goal? But I eventually have to look at the goal … I do need to take some shots at some point …
I also find that I have trouble even getting a look to take a shot … I do not get enough space away from the defender … they either tackle the ball from me while I am “loading up” a shot, or they block a lot of my shots before they get to the GK.
===Pass-and-go at 19:27===
I have found that my passes are MUCH WORSE when I try to do the LB+pass. I want to use this idea more often because it should help me get more players forward in attacking positions (and because it is cool) but the accuracy and strength (usually the pass is over-hit) of the pass is considerably compromised when I try this. It looks like you did it well … anything in particular that you are doing here?
===SuperCancel===
You mention this throughout … I know what buttons to push (LT+RT), but I do not know how to use this to help. When is the “right” time to use SuperCancel? What can it do for me? Do I just pulse the LT+RT, or do I have to hold them? This can be helpful on both offense and defense?
===Half-time Stats===
The CPU has one goal from one shot-on-target … this always annoyed me in previous FIFAs … Somehow you have only been tackled three times despite owning 57% possession … this is what I need to be better at. Maybe I rush when I am in possession? Something that I am doing is making me more vulnerable to CPU tackles.
===CPU goal at 21:53===
That now makes the CPU with two goals from two shots on target … grumble on that one. And near post … I feel like I am getting beat to the near post WAY MORE OFTEN than in any previous FIFA. There is some weakness that the CPU can exploit at my near post - and I have not yet figured out how to close that.
And they get you at the near post AGAIN at 27:10 … that is the hole in my GKs game for sure … the fourth (and fifth!) goal at 90+ was another one to the near post … wowzers.
===When you are in possession===
Do you move with the ball using only L-Stick? Do you ever sprint? Use the knock-on? Use “close dribbling” (LT+RT+L-Stick)? Use the controlled dribble (LT+L-Stick)? Hard stop (RT on its own)? Hard stop and face goal (LB on its own)? The “very slow dribble” (holding LB while using the L-Stick)? There are LOTS of different speeds to choose from.
Do you hold the L-Stick constantly? Or do you give it a push each time you want to move forward another dribble? Do you make sharp changes in direction? I feel like it is bad to make “banana” turns - I should stick with hard angles?
It is (it should be) harder to stop quickly or change direction if my player is moving too quickly (avoid sprint). If I keep the ball closer to my feet … I should be in a better position to make a killer pass / cross / get off a shot … right? Do you use skill moves? I do not consider myself a “skiller” … but would some skill moves help me against the CPU?
Do you have an opinion for “regular ground pass” vs. “through ball” … especially on all-manual - what is the difference? It seems that you attempted a through-ball at 25:23 … I can never make this work … either because the pass is a miss (usually intercepted) or, more often, no one on my team runs into the space. And immediately following … you drive to the touchline and attempt to pass it back in front of goal … I used to really like that move in previous FIFAs, but I cannot get it to work for me in FIFA15
You went with an “early ball” at 30:56 … does this ever work? This is LB + cross … right? How is this different for “cross”?
===Fouls?===
Would you agree that there are numerous times it appeared that the CPU (maliciously) fouled you … but no call? For example … 25:38 (there are others) … this is what keeps happening to me … the easiest way to shut down my build-up. I cannot figure out how to get the CPU to play back off my attacker (to give me space/time, to see a pass develop, room to shoot). There should be a way to make them pay for being aggressive (everything should have a price) but the “no fouls” hurts. And then you are called for a could at 28:50 … way less contact than my earlier point … inconsistent from the ref - right?
===Sprint Speed Slider===
You mention this numerous times throughout … I have always been curious about this. The sliders give a “bonus” to the CPU … but I am already having trouble keeping pace with them. Why is it better for the CPU to have the one-point advantage in sprint speed? What do I need to do differently to adjust knowing that I am at a disadvantage here? How can the HUM advantage with Acceleration be used in my favor?
You say that the sprint speed has “improved the defending my the computer” … but the CPU defending is killing me … my big problem is trying to score on the computer … their defending is “too good” for me (right now, until I get better) …
===Final Stats===
Like I said at halftime … [ Goals : Shots on Target ] is the ratio that I am always suspicious of … the CPU was 5 out of 6 …
But I am still remarkably impressed that you were only tackled 6 times … excellent ability to keep the ball. You say that this might be because you spend a lot of time facing AWAY from the goal … I have to keep that in mind.
And you were able to get 23 tackles against the CPU … another spot where I am lacking … I am always “out-tackled” …
Shots were nearly the same … but you were not able to get yours on frame … good CPU defensive pressure?
Pass% at 86(CPU) and 77(HUM) … my pass% is usually higher, but that is because I am not risky enough in attack …
