I know what youre saying. Messi is the best ever, imo. Suarez and Neymar are beasts of a different sort, and very, very special players. The problem with La Liga imo is, and this is after trying to watch as much as I could, that the top teams are too amazing, and the bottom teams in La Liga are too crap.

In the EPL, yes, some teams get smoked, but you almost always see good football, or at least one team is overpowered, but its within reason of a league. I tried watching La Liga, I tried hard, but I found the bottom teams to be somewhat of a joke compared to the likes of Barca, RM, Atl M and Bilbao. It's too bad really, because it would sure be one hell of a league to watch if it was somewhat more balanced.

No way does La Liga dominate the BPL top to bottom. The mid and lower table La Liga sides would have a very hard time in the EPL.

Would you rather get up for Eibar vs Malaga than for Crystal Palace vs West Brom though?

The fact Ronaldo and Messi both score a ridiculous amount of goals each year in La Liga is enough for me to scoff at La Liga. Aside from a few top teams, La Liga is pretty weak the rest of the way through.

This is one reason I would love to see Messi play in England. I want to see what he can do there. Would love to see Ronaldo back in England as well.

Yet the last 4 champions in the last 2 years for the UEFA CL and UEFA Europa have been... Spanish teams. Yes Barca and RM have won 2 of those but a lot of the Spanish teams as of late have done much better then EPL teams in both leagues.

EPL is my primary league but I watch a ton of La Liga as well and there isn't much to scoff at.

FIFA release date is getting frustrating

Between 2005 and 2012 at least one English team played in every Champions League final other than 2010.

            2005 Liverpool (W)
            2006 Arsenal (L)
            2007 Liverpool (L)
            2008 United and Chelsea
            2009 United (L)
            2011 United (L)
            2012 Chelsea (W)

La Liga tends to be a lot more helpful towards their teams in Europe too. They allow them longer rest before and after European games and of course, a winter break just in time for the knockout stages.

Valencia makes it 5 La Liga teams in the Champions, no biggie.

yeah and Real Madrid won every Champions League before 1970. Going back a 10 years is a long time in the world of football. As the cycles tend to be short and sweet, ask Leeds.

Yes but none since 2012 and last year no English teams made it to the quarter finals. Liverpool didn't even make it out of the group stage.

Even with the run the English teams (Liverpool, Forest, Villa) had from 76-82, Spanish teams have more final appearances in the tourney at 25 (I'd argue due to the recent play of the teams). Italy the most at 30 and England has 19. Only 2 more than ze Germans. And let me tell you Bayern may singlehandedly catch up to England by 2020.

If we're talking recent history or since the turn of the century La Liga > BPL in European competitions, no question about it.

Since 2000 La Liga teams have only lost 2 finals out of 10 (Champions + Europa) in which the opponent wasn't a La Liga team. THAT'S NUTS. They have a 5-1 record against English teams in the finals.

But back to the question on the OP. The Madden side is losing its minds with all the bugs and inability to start a career. Even thought the patch and rosters shall be out by week 1 (or after, idk not a Madden guy) they'll have to wait 3 weeks or so before playing a game that is better than the one they bought today due to the patch & rosters.

If FIFA came out next week I'd probably wait to buy it in mid September (15th or so). Let all the bugs be fixed and enjoy the game.

Re: FIFA release date is getting frustrating

I can totally understand OP. Since the leagues started I'm infected with the soccer virus again and it kills me that I cant play a soccer game since i have long sold the previous one lol
While I don't think it has to be the beginning of August that the game gets released, a release in the end of august or beginning of september would be nice. And i get the talk of the transfer period but seriously, the amount of people who don't have their console on the internet is ridiculously small so we can forget about them. And today it doesn't take much time to do a roster upgrade, look at what NBA 2K gets, they get frequent roster updates with significantly changed attributes, all Fifa gets its transfer updates, so they could still be able to release a new roster a day after the deadline or so.

                          And regarding the country discussion:
Yes, there's no doubt the Premier League has the biggest coverage, especially in the US but lets face it, why is that?
Because most of the people in the US have their heritage from there, maybe even still have family. Plus they speak the same language so its just the easiest to identify with. Thats the only reason. If most of the US citizens would have a german heritage and the US spoke german, the Bundesliga would be the most aired league over there.
And don't even start with the EPL being the best league. There is simply no best league in my opinion, not a single league has the edge in everything.
Yes you can argue that spanish teams have been the most successful in european tournaments recently but thats the only upside of la Liga.
When it comes to depth, i would put La Liga on third in Europe behind the premier league and the Bundesliga.
Because la liga has Real and Barca and most of the time, its only a question which one of those finishes first and which one second. After that you have Athletico Madrid, and after that you have Villareal, Sevilla, Bilbao. After that? Absolutely nothing.
So yes, in terms of being entertaining, one could probably argue that the Premier League has the edge because there a lots of teams that have the potential on paper to finish in the ranks of 1-6. Just like in the Bundesliga. La liga not so much. Even after that, you could probably argue that the 10-15th ranked teams in Bundesliga and EPL are better than the ones in La Liga
Then when it comes to the depth of homegrown talent, Bundesliga is probably the number one in Europe because the teams in both England and Spain have lots of international players, way more than the Bundesliga. Well the la liga teams outside the top 5 maybe not so much but they flat out suck so cant really make an argument for them. And even the middle class EPL teams have lots of foreign players, many of them are by far the best player in the team while the Bundesliga has lots of german stars.
But then again, that is all a result of EPL teams getting way more money from tv rights and stuff than the Bundesliga teams for example.

But yeah, just to conclude that, its hard to make a case for THE best league because theres always a pro and con for every league.
La liga has Barca and Real which are better than every other team in the Premier League and Bundesliga. But the rest of the league is playing on a lower level than EPL and Bundesliga so it evens out again.
EPL might actually have the edge in my book because even though english teams have sucked in european competitions in the past years, the level of the whole league is closer together than in any other league and therefore making it probably the most interesting league to watch. Especially for somebody outside of the UK and that is what differentiates EPL from the rest: They have lots of international names, therefore getting way more interest from around the world. Even the middle class teams in the EPL have a few good international players while the middle class teams in the Bundesliga and La Liga have mostly players from their own country.
Thats why even for me as a German, watching a game between the 8th and the 14th of the EPL can be more interesting than watching a game of the 8th and 14th of the Bundesliga or la Liga!

This stretch right here is the worst. The start of September is tomorrow. Which is just a sad reminder that you have to wait through 3/4ths of this month before the game comes out.

At least the demo comes out next Tuesday.
