Re: FIFA 16 Demo Available Now For Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3, PC
Increase FB positioning to 60, and that mindless passing doesn't happen because the FB is moving up in attack.
Regardless, it's better than PES 15 with their approach of even more mindless passing around the back. Compared to FIFA 15, we'll gladly take the extreme of build up versus 'dribble, dribble, pass'. It's a solid start, but like Royce said up there, we have to reserve judgement. Experience definitely counts for something in that regard.
Yes, PES 15 had some teams (not all, i would say 20%) that passed the ball in the back a bit too much, but the problem in FIFA is that they do the same thing on offense, close to the opponent box and that is much much worse in my opinion.
Also, the problem seems to be solved in the PES 16 (although others are present).Comment

Re: FIFA 16 Demo Available Now For Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3, PC
My demo impressions after playing on PC, 10min and 15min halves with modded database, World Class Difficulty, Slow Speed, Manual-Semi Controls:
+ Cpu AI is drastically improved. Changing sides, long passing, holding on the ball and looking for the best pass, backpassing and less dribbling.
+ Players have weight. The ball also.
+ Shooting is a joy because of what I wrote just above.
+ Cpu teammates are improved both in D and offense. Their runs are smarter. As a result triangles are a joy to perform and open new offensive possibilities and attack variety.
+ GK animations are top notch.
+ Animations are great.
+ Fouls. It's sad though to list a football rule as a positive for a football videogame.
+ Legacy defending controls. They work way better than Tactical because your cpu teammates can pressure to WIN the ball and not just standing and looking the ball handler. It's football not volleyball.
+ Women's gameplay is the best football recreation in videogaming after WE9 LE.
+ Player instructions seem to work. Needs more testing.
- Some GK wrong passes (Should be perfectly fine in full version)
- Still team individuality lacks even though there's more variety. I have posted about this in the PES thread a month ago with a solution that's right now in the sphere of utopia.
- Men's gameplay is not as good as women's. I'm quite sure EA doesn't want the game to be a hardcore simulation so it's more possible they'll ruin the women's gameplay too with patches...
- Professional difficulty is very easy (at least for me).
- Some "old" habits of cpu dribbling are still there.
- Too many shots hit the woodwork even on manual shooting.
- Tactical defending is a big joke. I don't want to take control of all my 10 players to steal the ball. Have you guys at EA ever heard of off ball D and area/zonal coverage? Also I don't really care about online excuses regarding this matter. Patch the game so we can use a button to call the cpu teammate to GO FOR THE BALL and not just contain like a waterpolo player.
That's all for now. The game has big potential. Still EA needs to focus a bit more on offline users. We're equal consumers/customers, many of us have families and we don't want to spend our precious free time playing ping pong online with randoms.
Also EA take the women's pace/gameplay and apply it to the men's. Do you know how it's done? Simple: Copy-Paste
Also, I have to agree...the women's teams are a blast to play with. This was one of the features I didn't think I'd get much use out of, simply because I play strictly career mode and pro clubs. But I can say with confidence that I'll make time to play with women's teams offline this year.Comment

Re: FIFA 16 Demo Available Now For Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3, PC
I wish the solution was that simple "increase X ant it´s gone". It´s not, like last year the FB going up, just makes the mindless passing more wide, nothing else. Besides, also leaves the CPU open on the flanks. Of course, this was last year, i wish this year would be different but i really have no hope in this regard.

Based on this video of several matches below, would you say your assessment of mindless backline passing is still apparent with the first-time slider testing:

Re: FIFA 16 Demo Available Now For Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3, PC
I've followed this thread pretty regularly to see what people think.
Anybody have thoughts about the ping pong? I was immediately struck by how long the Sounders could keep possession, especially with tactical defending. They didn't dribble until they were forced to pass. They passed until they were forced to dribble. My teammates were quite content to sit there and let them. This was on World Class, but it immediately stuck out to me as...problematic.
Since others have pointed it out, I thought I'd mention it.Comment

Nuno - I can't say I disagree with you, nor am I trying to simplify what is deemed a complicated coding. Another year, and another debate of sliders versus what the devs control. As always I'll be optimistic, and everyone else can be whatever they want to be.

But let´s wait and see what comes up in the final version... the reason im not optimistic it´s because these are legacy problems, that come from FIFA 12...Comment

The backline defending fiasco from last year has been greatly improved but the defensive system in general still sucks.
I do think/hope/expect this will be an issue that'll be fixed for the full release. There's a number of things with the demo that don't feel quite right that I expect/pray will be refined for the retail version.Comment

I raised the shot error for CPU about to 60 and it has curtailed it a bit. I'll have to play some more to find a sweet spot.

Yep, it's an issue. Eerily reminiscent of PES last year. It's not a problem on Pro difficulty, but on World Class or Legendary the CPU retains possession effortlessly without doing much with it.

PES: CPU passes the ball mindlessly on defence.
FIFA: CPU passes the ball mindlessly on offence.
That might be a placebo effect, since in every version of FIFA if you increase shot error, they will shoot even less (with less precision when they do obvioulsy).Comment
