    FIFA19 BETA Discussion

    Codes have gone out today.

Beta starts August 10th, 5PM BST.

EDIT: The Beta is under NDA so you're not officially allowed to talk about it outside of EA's feedback forums. Keep that in mind before sharing any info!

Are you allowed to talk about the closed beta (is it a closed beta)? It was a big deal on the Madden boards that the terms were that discussing the beta was not allowed. However, what people did was provide things for the beta-testers to look for to provide the feedback to EA on some things that the community wanted to have checked (for example, does the wind influence the kicking game too much in the beta-Madden) in hopes that problems could be addressed by feedback before the release.

The terms of this closed beta may be different and maybe they are OK with public discussion but I just wanted to call this to your attention.

Oh yeah good shout, you're right, the beta is under NDA so people should share at their own risk.

There are always leaks though, people are already sharing stuff about the Beta on Reddit.

Mods at Madden were quick to close thread that discussed the beta...but we could pose these items that we want testers to look into when they are testing, then provide this feedback to EA.

Here are some of mine (I'm assuming just base gameplay without adjusting sliders as a base case):

Foul frequency. Are you seeing fouls committed by CPU? This has always been an issue with Fifa. If the animations suggest a foul should be called but they aren't called, this should be called to their attention.

Passing precision: are the CPU passes unrealistically too precise? (especially when facing away from receiver or when under pressure)

Success on crosses: good, bad, ugly? Can you score on corners? is the defense winning too many crosses? Is placement of crosses too easy or too challenging.

Defensive teammate awareness: are your defensive teammates being drawn out of position by opponent's runs through the box?

From what I've been able to dig up through YouTube and Twitter, career mode is virtually unchanged other than the inclusion of CL & EL with a fresh coat of paint. Pretty sad EA.

                Absolutely not.

A small change but would be big in my book is if teams that are relegated or promoted will show the proper league badge on their kit

                          Re: FIFA19 BETA Discussion

Lots of positives but definitely negatives too with the beta.

Defending is improved in many ways though legacy issues still remain. CMs and Wingers track back better. Tackling is way easier than recent years. Some of the gaps and dribbling exploits from 18 have been closed. But backline AI issues are still a thing, though somewhat improved.

It's still too easy to create scoring chances. Most of this is down to the defensive AI issues, and CPU isn't aggressive enough, but also shooting as it is now is OP. I imagine this'll get adjusted because right now there's no point in even risking the new double-tap mechanic, with is fun, especially for long shots, but it's unnecessary and yet OP as well. (The changes to the buttons for low driven shots sucks though.)

Love the new tactical changes and I've been impressed with how different some of the CPU teams play... but the deeper tactical system isn't really all that necessary to use since scoring chances are still too easy to create.

All the new animations and flicks and stuff are of course lovely. In many ways the game reminds me of PES with some of the feints and pure class elite players will do. Loving player individuality.

I really like FIFA 18 - though I'll be the first to admit that it's way too attack oriented. I'm sure I'll like 19. Just how much I'll enjoy it will entirely depend on how the final build evolves from the beta.

                            Re: FIFA19 BETA Discussion

Thanks for the info ImmortalMindz! Nice to hear about better defending. I hope the game moves in a good direction, i'm worried about passing more than shooting, I suppose they'll balance it eventually and I can always play with manual shooting. But I do hope they've toned down the number of shots hitting the post.

Does the cpu build up from the back more, like in 16/17? I was really tired of their driven passes to the striker in 18. Hope passes are less accurate depending on the angle and that the animations make sense when players hit the ball. Fifa18 made a lot of passes/shots possible when they really shouldn't be.

I'm also worried about the new 50/50 battles, I have yet to see fouls resulting from these fights/collisions in any leaked video. Coincidence or by design? Any thoughts on the new fatigue system? Is it truly something that will make you think twice about abusing sprint/pressure and force you to rotate your squad?

Again thanks, if you notice more stuff it would be fantastic to hear.

Tactics play a pretty big role, so depending on what the CPU is using, yes they'll build from the back more. It's still probably not what we'd want, but I've been impressed with the variety I'm seeing and it's not been since PES's heyday that I've focused on tactics so much. I'm certain they make a big difference for the user; it'll probably take a long time with the game before I have a solid sense of what it means for the CPU.

And the driven pass to a striker seems to be a thing of the past thank god.

Passing is definitely too accurate, especially first time and long passing, though I've seen a good difference in error from lower level teams. For example, I just played a Championship team in a cup match and they finished with 75% accuracy. And this was on Ultimate difficulty.

Fouls aren't really in the game. Hopefully this gets adjusted but I'm not holding my breath. The physical play is good, but the CPU isn't aggressive enough and I usually only see fouls if I use skill moves or feints.

Stamina is more prominent but it's really only a big deal if you play a high pressing game. I played the constant pressure tactic in one game and my players couldn't sprint by the last 20 minutes. It's pretty cool because the constant pressure tactic works a treat and is really fun, but it wipes your players out.

Overall, I'm extremely happy with the beta with the exception of how easy it can be to create scoring chances and the lack of fouls. Super super pumped for the final version. For me, this is like the best of PES and FIFA mashed together. Can't wait.
