Re: FIFA 19 Demo Available Now For Xbox One, PS4 & PC - Post Your Impressions Here
I have always been careful about judging the game on the annual demos. First of all, the game is unbelievably ridiculously fast, it has nothing to do with football!. Ping pong in hyperspeed, ridiculous unrealistic long passes, but again it's only a demo. All the visual is excellent. Ray and Dixon CL, commentators already after 3-4 games boring to listen to, they are on PES level, poor . To me, it's just a confirmation that Tyler and Smith do and have made it outstanding in all those years. For me, it is so far the best feeling relative to the controller and playing since frostbite took over, It feels grounded, but still with a soft touch and it's good!. Does not work so clumsy and they react quickly to one's comands. Something has changed in terms of frostbite clearly. But there is no doubt that Sliders need to fix several things like speed, accelration, height width, etc. But I'm reasonably convinced that it can be a really good game. However, I would hold my/your horses before man comes with statements that the game is an evolution. For me it is still closer to what could be called FIFA 17.2. or 18.5 if you wish.Comment

Game plays a bit too fast, yes. What I will say though is I'm surprised how different the game feels. I stay away from pre-release stuff with FIFA because it's so inconclusive. The way I would describe what I've experienced in terms of control and feel is that things feel like they make sense. It doesn't have that "gummy" feel FIFA has had in recent years, but not to the extent that it becomes too twitchy and video game like in the other direction. Going to have to do more digging, but I'm quite surprised with how the game feels.
One other thing, and I think someone else touched on it, the ball physics feel really PES-ish. Very impressive. In recent years, the ball has been a bit exaggerated in how much of an adversary it was physics-wise.
Game looks a lot sharper on the regular PS4 too.
EDIT: I also want to compliment on EA adding an indicator for who the game is going to switch to if you press L1. Nice touch.Last edited by bad_philanthropy; 09-13-2018, 07:25 PM.Comment

Oh wow. This is good. I'm surprised because I can't stand default FIFA. I'm sure a few slight tweaks to sliders could help, but the overall feel has me excited for release.
And it probably helps when you do this on your first shot:
That was on professional, and the CPU stepped up after that, pressured me more, and it finished 1-1. I got aggressive with the press and they took advantage downtown he flank to whip in crosses. Eventually one hit the post and CPU poked rebound into a wide open goal. I had a great chance to win it late after a deflected cross fell to Phillipe in the box, but I put it into he stands on the half-volley.Last edited by Qb; 09-13-2018, 08:29 PM.Comment

I actually really liked what I played beside the ping pong passing. I agree it doesn't feel as twitchy as the last few games as it feels like I can do some left stick dribbling looking forward to play more.Comment

I liked the demo a lot. Did someone say the retail version the ball size will be larger? That is definitely needed. Also how come FIFA can’t nail the effect of the ball entering the net? PES does that really well.

I want to first say that I hate 4 min halves as it makes the game feel way too fast with no time for build up.
I like how the players feel heavier and stamina is a factor. Playing as Spurs, Dier feels much different than Eriksen in MF, especially when fighting for the ball.
Tactics are great. AI teams play and feel different. I played against United then against City and it was a major difference. Against City I felt like I had no time to pass the ball around. But against United I was sending in cross after cross and had trouble breaking them down.
While it's early still, this is the best FIFA game play I have played. I see this being a great year.

Honestly, it's hard to comment on the gameplay until I can change the game speed to Slow. I do see some good things, but it's like I'm chasing jackrabbits around the pitch right now, maybe because (a) I'm getting older and (b) I've been playing PES non-stop.
I will say this: the Champions League license is right at home with FIFA. The CL presentation looks amazing and I love the new commentary. I'm perfectly happy with FIFA being my "officially licensed" game and PES being my "option file" game.www.heyimbill.com | sports poster art and other cool stuffComment

It's supposed to be fixed in the full game, but the demo is an older build it seems.
Now speed is so weird in this demo. When I have the ball it seems perfect and I can see me playing at normal speed. But it seems to depend a lot on the CPU team. Against Man City I think the game is at it's worst. There is no chill for 90 minutes and there are specific passages of play where if you blink you'll miss 5 passes. Maybe the cpu has a pass speed advantage or simply uses driven passes. It's weird. And it's also easy to take advantage of their pressing and get them on the counter.
I think passing feels OP again and it's too assisted (and maybe crosses too, i'm not sure about the balancing in general), the game feel is much better though because of the physical play and the improvements in animations/weight/inertia etc.Last edited by Chrisx; 09-13-2018, 11:44 PM.Comment

Played 3 games.
Very arcade gameplay. Quick passes and the ball and game moves very fast. I like that but hardcore soccer guys may not.
Graphics a bit dark at times. Maybe it’s the lighting in the night games.
Ya felt like a FIFA game.Comment

Can not disagree more. When you shoot goals at Pes it's like hitting a volleyball net with a volleyball, total off!.Comment

I have no clue. I just saw the option today in the demo for the first time poking around the advanced settings. It's interesting.
