This is exactly it. Also you used to be able to pass in tight space on manual with little power and have the ball not move too far and it would go to the correct player. In the more recent versions it was impossible to do that since the ball would go a little too far, even if you just tapped the pass button and it was easier for the CPU to take the ball away in those situations since it would “lock on” to a different player than expected. It seems to get confused which player you are trying to pass too when there are multiple players of yours nearby.

I tried it out this year and it seems to be a better for those short passes, but still feels weird when it comes to having multiple players that are close to each other. I’m wondering if the precision passing has something to do with the improvement, but I hope it eventually gets back to how it was in 15.

Manual is monumentally better than the last few versions. I'm very much enjoying that aspect this year.

So I am using Matt10's sliders on default pace and I have to say, I am enjoying the gameplay now. Obvious improvements need to be made for marking and goalkeeping, but all in all, I'm having a blast now. Just need a patch to fix the excessive bugs in career mode.

Out of the box I saw glimpses of greatness but mostly...... yikers.

With the OS community sliders this is my favorite EA soccer game in a long while.

The mixed reactions to this game make complete sense to me. I hated FIFA 23 so much. Honestly probably my most hated sports game in recent memory. 22 I barely liked more etc....

So I feel like it might have flipped. People who have liked FIFA might not feel this one and those that have hated it might be more likely to enjoy.

It won’t get fixed sadly. It’s very intentional. It’s to cater to FUT players. I’m sure if the “cpu defends for them” it’s an issue. It’s all about stick skills and pace with the online guys. So in turn we get a very arcade like game. Totally ruined for career mode people.

I think that was last year with defensive midfielder, they never came back. Overall EA is only interested in ultimate players. Gameplay is towards online players, this year even more

What bugs in career mode? I haven't played yet. Oh and btw, is it just me or do they always seem to introduce bugs in career mode at the start of every fifa game nowadays? It's pretty ridiculous.

The game crashes when you try to sack a coach is one I've come across. Hopefully that gets cleaned up pretty quickly [emoji57]

It's been fixed in the TU3 patch.

Personally, the game is playing far better than in any recent year and is extremely fun, imho. Defense is far more manual vs AI this year, which many don't care for. I like it, keeps me engaged for the full match. But yeah.. this year is definitely an improvement over last year even OOTB. PC will have really good mods this year, even better than last year, so things are looking promising.

Information and knowledge. So it's building on what was discovered last year, and adding to it. I'm primarily speaking in regard to gameplay mods. There are already a few things floating around on evo-web for FMT. Just waiting for FET to release then the mod community will become extremely active.

I have made the switch permanently to PC for Fifa going forward, purely for the mods. I'm over at evo web too, the early signs look promising for sure.

In it's current state, this is the worst gameplay for an EA football title in a long time. It's the most arcade feeling one yet. No defense, no closing down, and yet again, the AI just stands around watching the play develop without interacting. Hell, I've seen them run away from the ball. It's all about pace, pace, pace, and winning 7-6. Sliders are needed to hopefully fix this. Oh yeah, Goalkeepers are getting beat on their near post more than ever.

Thanks for this post. For me, F23 was already totally unplayable do severe arcadeness and overemphasis on speed and acceleration, which was already to much important in the franchise for years and years.

Before the third update, the game was calm, with many types of attacks, where the ball and the players were dominant. For the last week, the opponent team was pressuring like crazy and it became very fast. I wish I could cancel the last update...

I’ve tried tweaking allsorts and using Matts Sliders but this is just awful. I can barely finish a match.

This is exactly how I felt last night. We ended up replaying the same game about 5 times last night thinking it was just us. I just cannot believe how dreadful the game has become overnight, completely devolved from its original state.

I could go into detail but I feel like the entire fun has been drained out of the game. Tried changing all the passing to semi which seemed to change a little bit not massively.

My biggest concern is that Matt will of course send out new sliders, but I feel like some of the changes are beyond the sliders control.

Distance shooting was absolutely rancid too.

I also feel like gameplay has tanked overnight. I thought it was just me. I recently upped the difficulty to Legendary too so thought it might be that but I’d played some games on Legendary already and it was fine.

The worst thing is the lack of attacking variety from the CPU team and the absolute unwillingness of your defenders to do anything useful at all. They don’t even have the decency to move into a useful position and just stand there.

CPU just dribbles into the penalty box and shields the ball. You can’t win it back because they turn into the Incredible Hulk and you can’t back off because then they just turn and pass to a player who is wide open standing directly on the penalty spot and he just smashes it in.

I was really enjoying the game until this week.

i play co-op with my brother. we have for over ten years now. always just lived through the ups and downs with these games and updates. tried to play today and had to turn it off. it's just not fun. it doesnt feel connected to the user at all. the computer can score in world class and on legendary they score dumb goals cause i cant stay in front of them even if i stand still. just a really awful experience. not even sure they can fix it this year.

And why are the body types so bad? they look terrible. ive got guys that looke like middle linebackers on every steroid in the world. damn, ea.

Agreed. This game is garbage. Gameplay by far is the worst I’ve ever seen. Why can’t EA Sports just stick with what they did in FIFA23. Nobody asked for cut scenes in the tunnel smh. FIFA 23 was great. EA FC is trash. I want my money back.
