I had started a MM with Morecambe in League 2, but for some reason I could not buy a single player unless he was a free agent. Went up easily the first year, surprised myself again the next year by going up finishing 2nd in League 1. Half way through the 3rd year, I was sitting 12th in the Championship so as a test I simmed the rest of the year to get to the next transfer window. I made 15 offers for a keeper, including £1,250,000 for a 65 rated player worth £250,000. Same message for each one "Insert Club Here scoffs at your offer." Keep in mind this is also with Negotiators up to level 9 as well. Fun game.
I tried a game in Germany and France, but missed the challenge of multiple leagues in England so I started another game with Morecambe. This time I was able to bring in some players from other clubs, so I'll stick with this one for a while even if I have to offer double or triple what the player is worth before the offer is accepted.Comment

Just turned the virtual calender over to 2010 in my Dortmund MM. I'm in second place, one point behind Werder Bremen through 18 games (Bundesliga is 34 games). The top 6 or 7 is very congested with only a handful of points separating the teams. I beat Bayern Munich 2-0 at home to advance to the cup quarterfinals (my objective), gaining 1/2 star of manager reputation in the process.
Eyeing up a few players in January, mostly depth signings, with about 10.5M in the kitty and $27K in my wage budget. Hoping someone will take Nelson Valdez, a little-used striker, of my hands at close to his listed value of 7.5M. If so, I'd like to invest in my position coaches so I can see some player growth. Not much movement at all with them at five...
In a strange coincidence, just as the real Bundesliga heads to their winter break, I'll be forced to do the same. Headed to FLA without the 360.

Couldn't resist the temptation to dabble in the transfer market before I departed... I bought Fernando, a CDM from Porto, who looks to be a good all-around player with a lot of ratings in the low 80s/high 70s for movement & strength/defense (79OVR). Just what I needed to play behind my attackers when I go with my attacking 4-3-3. He cost about 9M, so I need to offload CM Feulner (4M) and Valdez (7M) now to get some cash back. I'd still like to add Uche (CF, Almeria) but I'm not sure how my funds will look until I sell.
I may have run into the shortlist bug, as both guys I had on there did not sign despite 80+ interest and no reason was given. Fernando wasn't shortlisted. I removed Uche from my list, so we'll see if he signs later in the window once I balance the books...Comment

I noticed the same thing when I tried to sign this CB from Napoli, Fabiano Santacroce. He wouldn't give a reason why he didn't sign with my club. I did sign Gabriel van der Wiell from Ajax though.
I just had a run of nothing but HUGE matches with Roma.
Milan (5th place) - Tied them 2-2. Was down 2-0 but came back with 2 goals after 80+ mins to get the pt.
Juve (1st) Lost 2-1
Quarters of the Coppa vs Parma (won 4-3 on agg)
Fioretina (6th) - Tied 1-1,

The bad part was I got hit with the Sunday - Wed scheduling for most of these matches so I never fielded my ideal XI. It was also in Jan so I couldn't afford to loan out a few youngsters.Comment

second year in my new QPR manager mode. mid year in the first i made two huge singings... fabio from Man U and Fran Maria from Arsenal. i managed to meet both of the boards expectations (while playing on legendary). i finished 4th (was expected to finish top 6) and made it to the 4th round of the FA cup. my rating went to 1.5 stars.
i poured all my money into negotiator. i made some great signings this year, especially with kakuta from chelsea. he is quick ! with kakuta, simpson, fran, watson, and taab, i have a lethal young attacking force.
my goal is take QPR back to premier league. i am building a solid base, so might stick around to see where we can take it. but, if some of the big boys come calling, may have to jump ship. my goal is to get my manager rating to atleast a 3 star before heading to a big player.Comment

I thought about trying to get Merida or Vela from Arsenal for my Dortmund squad. Is it still impossible to get someone on a loan if they're not listed "for loan"?Comment

i just got this game and it's great. reading this thread has answered a lot of my questions about manager mode, but i've still got quick question:
when you spend money on your scout/fitness/skill development/etc. ratings, do those ratings carry over if you go to another club? or are they club specific? because if they're club specific, i'd rather spend my money on players (I plan on leaving this club after like 2 years)Comment

After 2 years at Leeds I just finished year one at Real Madrid and pulled off the treble. I was all set to return and my dream job at Arsenal came about and I left. I am just starting my season now and plan to make some whole sale changes. Excited to finally get a shot with Arsenal.Comment
