I play as Arsenal, and sent out a player on Loan. Do players sent on Loan net you any money? I didn't receive any.

Also, my next game is in the FA Cup, and it seems like after sending him for loan my starting lineup has been completely altered. This was a young player who never saw any playing time, so I don't see why my starting lineup would change.

Third, playing as Arsenal is there any roster moves you guys would suggest? The one reason I like them is they have many good young players who are still developing, with only a few of their primary players above the age of 30. For that reason I'm not sure if it's worth making any transfers as I can probably just continue to develop the players I already own.

No money, but you don't have to pay them and it gets them playing experience.

A lot of their roster is still in tact and they have qualified for the UEFA CL. I will have to keep them up.

Cups: Defeated Lyon in the Coupe de la Ligue, eliminated by Lens in the second round of the Coupe de France, and eliminated in the first knockout stage of the Champions League by Arsenal.
Summer Transfers (Bought): Eliaquim Mangala (CB - Standard Liege), Cheikh M'Bengue (LB - Toulouse), and Anthony Mounier (LW - Nice)
Summer Transfers (Sold): Maxime Partouche (CAM), Jean-Eudes Maurice (ST)
Winter Transfers: None.
Goal Scorers: Hoarau (41), Arquin (13), Erdinc (11), Giuly (10), Sessegnon (8), Mounier/Luyindula (6), Makonda (5), 8 players (1).

Manager Thoughts:

• This season was just as exciting as the last as it came down to the final day. Paris Saint Germain, Lyon, and Marseille were all on 81 points heading into the last game of the season. Lyon and Marseille were facing each other, while we had the superior goal differential. We won while they drew, giving us our second consecutive Ligue 1 title.

• We wanted to address some areas do deal with the increased amount of fixtures. We did that, but now we have to deal with replacing an aging squad. I have about 9 players over the age of 30 that play influential roles on the squad. Combined with the fact that I want to improve my coaching staff yearly and upgrade the stadium whenever possible, it looks like we will have to sell 1 or 2 of our best players in order to replenish the squad.

• We became far too reliant on Hoarau this year. The dip in goals from other players is a troubling stat. However, the emergence of Yoann Arquin was good to see. We can now afford to rest Hoarau on occasion without having to worry about a lack of goals.

• We need to continue to attempt to close the gap between us and the elite teams. We seemed to take a step back in that regard this season. After performing well against Lyon last year, we got demolished by them in the league. We drew AC Milan in the group stage of the CL and got dismantled, same thing with Arsenal. Just by adding pieces to the puzzle I think we can fix it.

Anyone play with any "house rules" for Manager Mode? For example, if you get an offer from a club for a certain player that just makes sense do you take it?

I remember I was Arsenal and Marseille made an offer for Gallas. It made perfect sense since it was his former club and he was getting up there in age. I had to take it. Kind of adds some realism and makes it much more fun.

I remember I was Arsenal and Marseille made an offer for Gallas. It made perfect sense since it was his former club and he was getting up there in age. I had to take it. Kind of adds some realism and makes it much more fun.

I do. I will only sell players to certain clubs that I would think they would play for in real life. I know Blax limits how many foreign players (Non-english players if he's an EPL team, etc...) he buys. When I was with Roma I tried to primarily bring in young Italians.

After 2 months into the season Atletico's senior leadership decided that things weren't working out.

After being sacked I have taken a job in the Axpo Super Swiss League managing:




"Atletico was very impatient with me despite being hit hard by injuries (Aguero, Forlan, Simao, Reyes all missed at least a week) and a roster lacking depth. I'm intrigued by their attacking style (3-4-3), variety of highly skilled players, and their team philosophy. We are competing in the UEFA Cup with a slight possibility of matching up with Atletico if we should advance past the qualification round. To say I would like a chance to stick it to Atletico is an understatement."

I try to buy/sell in what I consider a somewhat "realistic" manner. I'm still picking away at my Dortmund MM (more on that in a minute) and I've avoided signing any high-profile players. One nice thing about the Bundesliga is its very diverse player pool; at one time recently it had the highest percentage of foreign-born players among major European leagues.

I may sell a worthwhile player or two, likely a striker, in the January window (in season 2) to raise some cash. I moved out a lot of garbage during my first year and spent almost all the money I've brought in to build some quality depth. I have four strikers all in the high 70s to 80 range (Zidan, Barrios, Falcao, Uche) and find it difficult to use them since I often favor a hybrid 4-5-1/4-3-3 formation. Selling one could pad the budget and allow me to invest more in my position coaches. I haven't seen much player development with them at the 5/6 level.

Shocking! Was that the best job you could get? I assume your prestige was high, but I don't know how FIFA handles this... because I've never been sacked!


Borussia Dortmund Year Two Update

On a somewhat related note, I am struggling a bit in season two since I've played very sporadically over the past month or two after plowing through year one fairly quickly (for me anyways). In early November, I've managed to get our domestic form turned around after a sluggish start; I believe we're currently sitting 6th after getting only 4 points from the first 5 games. My objective is again to finish in the top half, which was surprising considering we finished second in year one.

However, it's the cups that may sink my managerial ship. Drawn with PSV, Fiorentina and Porto in the Champions League, we've stumbled to two losses and a draw with a -7 GD. I have no explanation and can only hope to rebound by winning the return legs while the other teams split points. The board expects us to reach the knockout stages.

My first game in the DFB Pokal is our next fixture and the board objective is to reach the semifinals (won it in Y1). Last year we had to get through Bayern to achieve our quarterfinal goal; this year looks to be an even tougher road as we were drawn with hated rivals Schalke to start the competition. I know they beat us at least once in year one, if not twice. I remember last-second heartbreak in one of the games, but I'm not sure if they equalized or went ahead on the stoppage time goal. At any rate, derby games always seem to be more difficult, so the board may not be happy with my performance if I can't work some miracles in the coming weeks.

Shocking! Was that the best job you could get? I assume your prestige was high, but I don't know how FIFA handles this... because I've never been sacked!

I could have had:

MLS: Sounders, Toronto DC (Strongly considered Sounders but I wanted European Cup action)

Turkish Super Liga: Can't remember the name

Swiss Super League: BSC, FC Basel (pretty strong team and big stadium)

The game said I dropped down to a 3 star manager from a 4.5 but when I booted up my new season I was still a 4.5. The debt glitch killed me at Atletico because I couldn't upgrade their fitness from a 4 and their squad wasn't deep enough for all of the games I was playing. If I made it a year there I was going to sell Aguero to raise cash but oh well.

My goals at BSC are 1) Win the league, 2)Make the final of their Cup, 3) Make the 2nd round of the EFA

Ahh, debt glitch, hadn't thought of that. I keep a backup file and don't auto-save, so hopefully I'll never have to deal with it. It would be my luck that I'd actually earn my dream job at Arsenal and do something stupid to get stuck with it.

It should reset after the first year. I would have figured it out for sure, but I didn't feel like continuing on at United.

I underestimated our depth at Atletico and it cost me dearly.

The thing I was most pissed about was that I couldn't see how Roma fared in the UCL. They had already wrapped up their group before I left (Group of DEATH - Barca, Man U, Porto).

Hey guys, jss wondering In order for me to get a capacity crowd do I need to upgrade my stadium staff?

Because I'm playing at PSG the upper level is always empty and my ticket prices are med-low at times.

Any one else plays at this venue and manage to get a full capacity crowd?

I'm in my 3rd year of this mode with PSG and trying to get an offer to the EPL, I think I might just stay at Ligue 1 for 2 more years and accept an offer at the Coca Cola Championship and try to promote a team.

In the past 2 season I've been in 1st place with one Coupe de France, an ECC title, and 2 trophe de championes. And twice Lyon was the runner up.

I also manage to bring in Thierry Henry by a offer I made to barca. And picked up Glen Johnson of Liverpool at the market.

I was fired while managing the Mexican league's UNAM Pumas. I won the first half of the season, i.e. the Cup and only have 1 loss in the second half and I got booted.

WTF!! I saved the last game and no matter what I do I get fired.
