Re: FIFA 10 MANAGER MODE Progress thread

I recently got back into Fifa, and decided to start up the managerial career of Luigi DeAngelo, managing the pinkshirts of Palermo in Serie A in Italy

Currently 3-1-3. My last loss was a 3-1 blowout against Bologna. I was really upset by that game - I had a ridiculous amount of shots on goal but got incredibly unlucky. My wins have all been against scrub teams that are near the bottom of the table, and I had a 0-0 draw against Napoli.

Gotta beat some good teams if I wanna at least do better in the League. Having a blast so far though, Italy football is awesome.

Also, I upgraded my scout to a 7 and he found this great striker from England for me. 19 year old, 81 overall, named Spenser Chilvers.

He just started his first game for me and had a goal along with an assist in a 2-2 tie.

      He's my new favorite player.

Re: FIFA 10 MANAGER MODE Progress thread

so i started my MM back up... I was with Accrington for three years and then bolted for Wigan Athletic. They were the only EPL team offering me so i took it so I could build them up. The first thing I did was buy Altidore from Hull since he is my fav player. i overpaid in the Transfer fee but i had to have him. I ended up getting some young scouted talent and I won the EPL on the last day by one point
The start of the next season I lost the Community shield to Portsmouth but then won my first two league games and now just lost to Liverpool.
I love this game. Taking an underdog and get young talent and building them up

Is it possible to watch a CPU v. CPU game in Manager mode?

Re: FIFA 10 MANAGER MODE Progress thread

I started a Manager Mode with Atletico Madrid, simming all the games and just making manager descisions to see how things would go

I bout Clichy from Arsenal as well as some other young players from around the league. So far I am undefeated and have 42 points sitting high atop La Liga. I also am not playing anybody above I think 27 or something like that and all of my reserves are around 70 ovr and range from 15 - 20. I am trying to loan out some of the youth now and sell some more age and see if I can go undefeated for the whole season. I did lose in my first game in the Spanish Cup because I played nothing but backups against I think Cadiz.

Wavebird99 - i think it tells you that you have to pick sides

X-_-Facter45 - that lineup looks sick, surprised that you didn't get one of those messages that say "we can't let you sell anymore players". Depth becomes important later, especially when playing england teams where you'll get two games in one day

Re: FIFA 10 MANAGER MODE Progress thread

I got FIFA 10 a week ago and am now obsessed so badly I needed to join a message board to discuss manager mode.

I first started with the Colorado Rapids and was promptly fired for losing (a lot). I restarted a new MM with the Rapids because I wanted to bring European players to the MLS. I saved up all my money for the year and bought Jozy Altidore from Hull and James Vaughn from Everton. Both were young players who I thought would improve. In year 5, Vaughn had no business being in the MLS. I could pass to him and 80% of the time he would overpower the poor defender for a breakaway. The Rapids were a 4 star team after a lot of scouting. The problem was that there was absolutely no competition in the MLS. Vaughn would score about 3 times a game and I played the same 20 teams over and over. I got bored and decided I would take a team from Coca Cola League 2 to the EPL.

I am in Yr 2 of a MM with Barnet which is far more interesting and I’ll post about that later.

Mostly I was wondering what peoples’ strategies are for taking a terrible team and making them dominant.

Keep youth and sell age if you want to bring a team up quickly, you might have a bad season or two but once they get match experience they will dominate. If you choose a good team you should have an experienced squad with a few youth players here and there, then when the older ones retire not all of your team will be young as the youth players you have been starting will be really good and can compensate for the new defender or whatever that is now a younger player.

Does anyone know how the increase in Weekly Wages works in manager mode? What determines how much the board increases?

When I was managing the Rapids, by year 4 I had more weekly wages than I knew what to do with (approx. 160,000 for my MLS team). I would like to figure it out for my current Barnet MM.

Is it based on seasonal performance?

Yep, basically the more objectives you meet, the higher your budget wage and weekly wage. I've also noticed that you can get higher wages simply by finishing the season with a large sum of money. So whatever staff upgrades you want, better wait till the start of the next season.

BTW, what has everyone set their ticket prices to? Every time I raise my ticket price to High (especially for the big matches), I never get a large sum of money.

                        Some tips:
                        - for your first year, do not spend money at all on players, try to buy as much as free agents you can and work with that
                        - win some money and instantly raise fitness level (although this depends on what league you're playing)
                        - increase stadium size till level 6-7 (don't remember exactly, but stop when it needs an 18m upgrade)
                        - increase scout level and scout players constantly till you have a full group of 42 players and use it as an investment

So by the end of the first year, you will have quite a lot of free agents who are more valuable now and quite a lot of scouted players. When the transfer market opens up, sell as much as you can (all the players that you don't need) - this will give you lots of cash to buy staff upgrades or any new player you wish to sign. Then take it on from there - slowly save up, keep scouting/selling players and you should have a decent budget and a decent team by the end of the second season.

Also, I know a lot of people here like to focus on youth players, but in all honesty there are better ways of going about. If you have a level 10 negotiator, you can buy players (no matter who they are) at almost near half price (granted you give them a 15% bonus and have an interest of or near 80%). All that scouting/selling should give you enough money to buy a top team, regardless of being young or not. Of course, I'm not advising you to buy players in their mid-thirties. But you get the point!

Buying youth just means they are in their 20's and can give you a good 5 seasons before they either peak or start to decline past another players overall and you switch.

Update on the Atletico Madrid MM, Clichy was my top scorer, yeah. I eventually lost 5 games in a row, afte winning 10 in a row. Barcelona won La Copa Del Rey while I won La Liga by 20 points above Real Madrid. I'm midway through year 2 and I bought Messi for one trillion dollars (insert evil laugh). but no he was actually pretty cheap considering his rating and he is in a constant beast mode for me. All my players that are starters are still in development phase so I still have a few seasons before this team will need new faces.

I wish you could increase the value of a player by paying him higher wages or have him in better form for most of the season if you're paying him 30-40% more and so he feels the need to perform more. I'm just trying to get a Real Madrid-esque team going here...

EDIT: I also have to say, this is my 5th-6th season so far I've found the scouts to find some really talented new players. Looking up the list, I see a 6'4, 18 year old young Bosnian named Haris Mihajlovic with an overall of 88! and worth only $6m! And a young 6'1 Argentinian named Augusto Matias Saviola and he's only 17 years of age and has an overall of 85! and he's worth $7m!

Unbelievable! I'm going to keep a close eye on these two because I could use them as a replacement for my aging Torres and Fabregas.

Due to the lack of a thread, my BAP is going well too, at least in the sense that he is doing well. Newcastle is 19th after 9 games with only 11 points but my 20 year old American striker has scored 6 goals in league play, 1 goal in Carling Cup, and 1 goal as an international against Spain. Only problem I have is stamina and speed which I am throwing points at every chance I get

I can't find this answer anywhere, does someone have a table of the amount of profit you make per home match for the different levels of stadium manager upgrade? I have it at 3/10 and make $133,000 per match on high ticket price...
