Re: FIFA 10 MANAGER MODE Progress thread

Decided to return to my QPR MM save, after the Man Utd bs.

Well I've reached the end of January, 4th place in the Championship. During the summer I signed Saivet. In the winter period, I've brought in J.Spector, M.Sakho, and Charlie Davies.

My expectations are 4th round in FA Cup(met already) and Top 6 finish in league.

Also almost had Pjanic from Lyon, but ran out of funds.
Don't you EVER read my blog? It's gotten a lot better.

Year 2 with Leeds United. 6 points clear of Portsmouth in the Championship. In the Europa League thanks to some big upsets last year in the FA tournament (playing Porto in the 3rd round up 1-0 on aggregate with the home leg to play). Still in the FA Cup this year thanks to some easy games (I play Ipswich in the quarterfinals). Hoping to land in the Premier League next year.

Dumb MM question. I was thinking of starting one with Newcastle. They have a decent budget but are limited by their player wages. Does this increase over time? How much can I expect it to increase to if I get promoted after the first season?

I wish I could have played out my Roma season before getting fired in January. I loved that team.

Lost my first game in the Coppa because I was matched against Inter. I was in first all season but then dropped to 5th at the time of firing.

Re: FIFA 10 MANAGER MODE Progress thread

Just finished a pretty unbelievable match.

I'm in year 2 of a Man City MM. I finished 2nd in my group in the ECC (behind Valencia), and had to square off against OM in the first round of the knockout stage. They were able to beat me 2-1 at Eastlands, then I traveled to Marseille where I needed to do something special. Ben Arfa scores for OM in the 36th, and I assume it's over. I mean, I'm now down 3-1 in agg goals. But then Robinho scores an absolute cracker from just outside the box in stoppage time at the end of the first half to make it 1-1 (3-2 agg). In the 59th, Robinho does it again, heading in a low cross that bounces off the post to give me the 2-1 lead, and tie at 3-3 agg goals.

Then in the 84th, Adebayor is taken down in the box and Gareth Barry comes in for the winning penalty kick. Right? Wrong. Keeper guessed completely wrong, but the ball bounced off the top crossbar back into play, but over Barry and was cleared away. So we head to extra time. Nothing happens in the first 15 minutes. But then, in the 115th minute, my future-star striker I signed from Turkey is taken down in the box again. And this time, Barry doesn't miss, blasting it into the top left corner. I go on to win 3-1, 4-3 on agg goals and am now headed to the next round.

                  Awesome.

I had two penalties go my way this morning, so I guess it's a good day for PK's!

Funny thing is, mine was when playing against Manchester City in the semi finals of the ECC

Re: FIFA 10 MANAGER MODE Progress thread

So after that epic game against OM, I took on Benfica in the quarterfinals. And what was the result after the first leg?

                        10-0.

I won 10-0.....after just barely beating Marseille, I spanked Benfica 10-0. I was stunned. I was up 3-0 after probably 20 minutes, and then I think they just gave up. I know that looks like such a "video game" score, but that's why I was surprised. Because I had just barely survived against Marseille. Anyways, the second leg finished 0-0, imagine that, pushing me to the semi-finals, where I would face....

Liverpool. Pretty epic semi-finals. Liverpool vs. Man City and Barcelona vs. Real Madrid. First leg was played at Anfield, and we finished tied 3-3. I felt pretty good, seeing as how away goals are huge. Then I was able to win 4-2 in my home leg, scoring the two clinchers after the 80th minute. That sent me to the finals to face Madrid.

At halftime, Real was up 2-1. They then added 2 more in the 2nd half, and I figured it was over. Then in the 82nd, Essien (who I signed away from Chelsea) knocks one in to make it 4-2. And then in the 90th, Robinho is taken down in the box by the keeper and Tevez comes up and hammers home the penalty to make it 4-3. With just seconds left, I have the ball down on Madrid's end. I see Santa Cruz cutting in towards the middle of the box and I attempt a pass to get it to him so he can shoot for the tying goal. And of course, the ball is intercepted and passed away, and then the whistle blows. Madrid wins the UEFA Cup 4-3.

I'm now in my next season. I was able to just beat out Man U by 2 points last season to win my 2nd straight Premiere League title. My ECC group consists of me, Bayern Munich, FC Twente, and AEK Athens. Looks like it's going to be like last year where it was Valencia and I fighting for the top spot, with Bayern and I doing the same this time around. But who knows. Twente and Athens could surprise.

                        I will update soon!

Re: FIFA 10 MANAGER MODE Progress thread

I'm about halfway through my first season as Newcastle. Simming a lot of matches to get promoted quicker. Beating up on the Championship teams is a little boring.

I spent most of my budget right off the bat. I upgraded my negotiator and fitness coach to 8/10. I spent pretty much everything else in the transfer market. I had to sell a few players and loan some out to make room for new signings in the wage budget. I decided to spend with an eye towards competing in the Premier league next season.

I brought in GK Joe Hart (Birmingham), CM Mathieu Flamini (Milan), CF Bojan (Barca) and ST Jozy Altidore (Hull). Obviously not the most realistic signings but they fit my needs and had fairly low wage demands, especially Hart and Altidore. Flamini has great stamina which makes him a perfect fit for the more attacking minded defensive mid in my 4-2-3-1 formation. Altidore is my starting striker and Bojan is CF which along with Lovenkrands speed on the left wing has provided an extremely potent attack.

Currently 1st in the Championship with a pretty comfortable cushion. I've pretty much gotten by using the great speed of players like Bojan and Lovenkrands. I got a rude awakening in the English cup though getting bounced by Chelsea 2-0. My tactics obviously weren't as effective against their faster team and I had trouble generating much offense. I'm definitely going to need some adjustments to compete in the Premier league.

One of my board objectives was to reach the 4th round of the FA cup which I did pretty easily by beating Doncaster. My manager rating is up to 1* and my board confidence is very high since I'm well on my way to completing both goals.

Currently I'm working on building my budget back up so I'll have some cash for transfers next season. Really hoping I get a boost in the wage budget though since that is my biggest restriction right now. At a minimum I'd like to sign a new CB, LB and RM.

                            I have a simple question

Does the scout report shows the age of the discovered player?Whenever I scout it doesn't show me the age of the player.

I don't recall seeing it at that point but have looked for it as well. I tend to look at the stats in the bottom right corner or top right more than anything. His age didn't matter. Usually falls between 17-23 once I go to my team management screen and view him.
