Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

    2nd Leg*
    Atletico Madrid 1-1 Barcelona
    David Villa 62' Xavi 76'
    Red Card
    Mario Suarez 44'

It was a really action-packed game with both sides having 7 shots on target and the keepers on fire stopping a lot of shots. It wasn't even in possession so much though as Barcelona had 60% of the ball and passed a lot. Mario Suarez had to tackle Neymar in the box or it would have been a definite goal and so got a red card. Neymar stepped up to take the penalty but he fluffed as it went over the bar and out. Finally in the 62nd minute Villa opened the scoring with a free header into the top right corner. Xavi equalized in the 76th minute although with a quick counter attack resulting to a 1v1 and he scored. Barcelona needed 3 goals and it didn't happen so Atletico hung on for the draw and, therefore won the SuperCup España.

Now for Costa. He got sold to Dortmund after all for £45 million! Da Silva is looking at Sturridge, Rooney, Agüero and Mandžukić as a replacement for Costa. He also gave offers for Shawcross and Baker for £2.5 million+Tiago(4 mil value) and £1.5 million respectively.

But for now the BBVA starts and we are up against Sevilla for our 1st game of the league.

Feedback on this career mode will be much appreciated . Bye

It is impossible for me to feel identified by a blue with yellow kit. I will continue to ponder this decision, but I will not abandon Wimbledon until I get them promoted. If that takes more than one season to complete then so be it.

For my next career mode I want to go with a League 1 team. That way, it would be like I'm starting where I left off with the Dons but with a different team. I'm currently looking at Bradford City, but I won't post updates on it unless the person that's already doing a Bradford career is okay with it. The kits are awesome, the combination of yellow with red is much better since red is a color of my favorite team - Guadalajara. In the meantime, I will continue my AFCW career planning for the future. I'll leave everything ready in case I decide to come back to it. Like I said, the only thing keeping me with the Dons is their history, and that may be enough to bring me back.

Has anyone encountered this before? Where you're not bored with the team at all but there's this little detail pushing you away?

If you like the Wimbledon players and tactics, why don't you switch the players with Bradford's players?

And as for the Sevilla career, scratch that. I tried them out by playing a few games and the team was really bad. The midfield is bad and the attack sucks. The defence is alright, but that's about it. So yeah, I will not do a Sevilla career. Any other suggestions? Also, I checked Hull but I didn't like them. Aston Villa could be okay... but I haven't made any decisions yet.

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

I finished my half season at AD Alcorcon (I took over midway through the '14-'15 season). I had a pretty successful short season in helping the team go from the bottom 5 (18th of 22) to top 10 (9th place). I achieved my goal of a high finish, so the board was happy. They gave me $3 million to work with this summer which is gonna be difficult to work with. However, these mofos STILL won't give me some additional funds, saying they haven't seen enough of me (I got there Feb 1st and we're now in June, so they sort of right). I asked for $10 million, do you think I'd get a different response if I asked for $5 million or is it really just too soon to be asking for funds? I've put my highest value players on the transfer list hoping to create a miracle this summer but I'm just not sure how it's gonna play out.

I guess what I'm wondering is: will the board EVER pony up the dough? Because this budget may get me through the Liga Adelante so I can move up to Liga BBVA, but once I'm there I'm going to need much more flexibility if I'm gonna be able to compete at the highest level. I like the team, but I just wonder if I should start looking for a team with a more competitive budget (not Real/Barca like, but just better than this).

[QUOTE=TauterHat;2046296885]So currently the vote tally stands at 3 for PSG, 2 for Dortmund and none for either of the others. I'm going to give it one more day before beginning the career mode. If I enjoy the PSG one I'll post that but if it gets boring quickly, I'll try Dortmund. Failing both of these I will just stick with the Cardiff CM as it is something I am currently really enjoying. Thanks for your votes guys. Hopefully the new career mode

              I vote Dortmund

                Cardiff City Career Mode
I hope you're all still enjoying this career mode, and I hope it's not become too boring just yet. Just a quick reminder, could you all vote for my second career mode to go up next to this, it would really help me out a lot. I made a post including four ideas so if you would, can you vote for your favorite idea. Anyway, let's get on with the career mode.
Interview after 1-1 draw with Newcastle United
Geoff Shreeves - BossMan the streak has ended and many are saying this is the change that was needed, the signing of a new winger and change of formation. How did you feel it went?

BossMan - I felt we played well. We adapted well to the new formation and I thought Danny took his goal well. The ball in from Aaron (Cresswell) was sublime and Danny finished well. I thought Jay had a great game on his debut for the club and really brought some pace to our attack which was much needed in my opinion. However it was not a win, and I don’t think we should treat it like one. We played well but similar problems through a lack of clinical finishing ability let us down yet again. It is a good place to work on but it is only a point.

GS – The signing of Jay Rodriguez appears to be a good one, as you said he played well in the game. Do you feel like he will develop and get better as time goes on?

BM – I feel like he can only get better. He’s a world class player and he played well in the game. However I feel like he can put an extra 20% easily. He will develop and I would’ve thought he will become an excellent player. I’m quite happy with the signing.

GS – Finally, your next game is against Chelsea. Jordan Mutch’s return. Your thoughts please.

BM – Chelsea play champions league football. They are a world class side and I think competing with them will be difficult. However I think a draw and possibly nicking a win could be a possibility. If we play well then I think a win will be difficult for Chelsea. Of course they have world class players like Hazard and Oscar but I reckon we could take a win. Cheers Geoff.

Press Conference following 1-0 defeat to Chelsea

Question – Mr BossMan another loss, your thoughts please.

BM – We played well, they played better. I felt maybe we deserved a goal and I felt when we had the ball we created things. However we had little of the ball, which was expected, and so we just didn’t create enough. Even so when we had the ball we looked dangerous and I think that’s one of the positives we have to take from that game. Chelsea are a world class team and Mourinho is a world class manager and credit where credit is due, they played in a world class manor.

Question – You say Mourinho is a world class manager, is he the sort of manager you aspire to be?

BM – I think Mourinho and I are very different managers. He is a character and is manages top teams which big money in top leagues. I feel I am a slightly quieter manager, I manage mid-tier teams, in top leagues with mid-tier budgets. I feel that that’s where my expertise lies and that’s what I’m good at. Perhaps if and when I leave Cardiff, they will be in a better place and I will go onto another project. Of course however I will not be leaving Cardiff unless results turn sour, until they are in the Champions League.

Question – Jay Rodriguez looked fairly poor today, why do you think that was?

BM – Fatigue, stress, he had a bad game. There are a number of reasons as to why and whatever the issue was we will look to sort it out.
[B] Question – Finally, David Marshall played an absolute blinder today and has been excellent all season. Could their be any possible suitors for his signature?

BM - So far we have rejected 3 offers and I plan on rejecting every other offer. David is a brilliant keeper. I have a good relationship with the man and we have both agreed that if he comes to me and says he wants to leave, I'll let him go, otherwise I would really like to keep hold of him.

Interview after 1-1 draw away at Norwich City

Geoff Shreeves - BossMan, a draw, your thoughts please.

BM - It's a point, I'll take it. We played like a team under pressure and we stuck it out and got the point. I thought we deserved it, Norwich were pretty poor, however that Nathan Redmond goal, what a strike. He's a lad I would actually quite like to pick up in the future. Anyway we played well and I think neither side deserved any more.

GS - Are you saying your will try and sign Redmond this January.

BM - No I am not, what I am saying is that he's a brilliant player who would be a good signing. If a can get him this year, I may try however that is very unlikely. I would love to sign him soon in the future.

GS - Jay Rodriguez scored your goal today. It seems he is beginning to recapture the form which was perhaps the reason why you signed him. Your thoughts.

BM - Jay took his goal well but I need to see more before I begin proclaiming he is the next Messi, Maradona or Pele. As I said he took his goal well and it is early days. I do see a bright future for this lad.

GS - Your next game is against Swansea. What are your hopes for this game?

BM - A win, nothing more, nothing less. It may be difficult but I think we do have the quality to do so. Cheers Geoff

That's the end of the post. I hope you enjoyed it. I have thought long and hard about the second career mode but I think it will have to wait. I tried the PSG career mode and I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I'll wait until I am finished with the Cardiff CM before bringing a second CM to the forum. That may end up being a FIFA 15 project. As for this CM I am in a bit of a predicament. These CM posts take a while to do. I am much further into he Career mode that it seems and I would love to catch up at some point. I am asking you guys whether I should focus on specific games and perhaps not post about other matches which are less important, just include in them other conferences and interviews. Or I could rush through them and put slightly less deatil. Or I could just catch up now before playing further. If you can please answer below. Thanks

Well the tactics are mine, it's just that the players fit well with them although there's no future with most of these players. Most of them have low 60 potential. For example Charlie Sheringham. I play with a lone striker and he fits perfectly. He's tall, he always gets himself in the right positions, he has low speed but his movement is great, he's great with the hold up play, BUT he is 57 overall at 25yrs with 59 potential. It would be a waste to spend money on him to bring him to Bradford.

Sevilla was a great team to do career with until they sold key players Navas and Negredo. They have Rakitic but they don't have a good striker to accompany him. What about Villareal from Spain? The Basque teams would be good too Real Sociedad and Athletic Bilbao. Good luck!

One football club, some much higher in dignity,
In fair Verona, Serie A's where's we lay our scene,
From recent promotion to maybe a euro spot?
Where civil tackles makes civil jerseys dirty.
From forth the fatal bank reseves of this club
A pair of star-cross'd managers take their club towards the top?
                      Whose misadventured piteous overthrows
Do with their football bury old stubborn supporters.
The fearful passage of their death-marking defense,
And the continuance of throughballs to the box,
Which, but a spectacular goal or at least a strike, could remove
                      Is now the 1 and a half hours' traffic on our pitch;
The which if you with patient ears attend,
What here shall miss, our football strive to mend.

Yep, it's a Hellas Verona manager career. Is it a coincidence that one of their best players is named Romulo? No!

I'll be doing this on my Dynasty page, if I stick with I'll put in the Dynasty HQ forum.

Q: You have moved up to just one spot out of automatic promotion. How do you keep your team focused going forward to try to fight your away into that spot?

A: I trust this group to stay focused. We show up every day and go to work the same as always. We know what we need to do and it is our focus to make sure we do it. I know it's my job to keep that mentality with the team and I feel that these players are responding very well to my management style.

Q: Tell us a little about the transfers you made during this window. Mainly, letting Jordan Obita go, and a little bit about the players you brought in.

A: Letting Jordan go was not an easy decision. Multiple bids were put in for him, and we decided to set a high price that we would be comfortable with letting him go at. A team came in and met that price, and as much as I would have loved him to stay, I knew that the funds could be put to good use. As for the transfers brought in, I feel that we took some great steps forward with the defense for the future. Several players who will be joining us next season will be key factors going forward as well. As for immediate impact, I think the supporters will learn to like Planas and Medeiros very quickly.

Q: You took an international management position. Are you worried this will divide your attention and effect your push for promotion with Deportivo? Also, with several offers available can you expand on why you chose Columbia?

A: I am fully confident that this will not hinder my commitment to Deportivo. This club comes first and foremost, and I have my eyes on La Liga and this team will fight all the way until the end of the season to achieve that. As for why Columbia, both the Czech Republic and Belgium both had interest as well. Ultimately I felt drawn to Columbia because I feel the squad they have has the chance to be very special. I just saw a vision for this team better than I saw for the others. We have already qualified for the World Cup, and I can't wait to show the world what this country can do.

Good luck!

Sorry for not being clear! I meant that you would edit the squads from the menu and put the guys from Wimbledon on the Bradford roster and other way around. Then you would have the same team but different kits.

And I have tried all of those teams but none worked out well. Hmm... how about Leverkusen, Aston Villa, Hertha BSC or some else not-so-great team?

Also, what kind of team would you guys enjoy reading updates about?

This is kind of off topic but how many of you are using next gen consoles and how many are using current gen consoles. I'm asking this because I was browsing around the FIFA Forums when I was supposed to be studying and saw: "How's your NG career mode going"

Ok finally able to post some mode details about my team. I feel good about the work I've put in for this summer '15 transfer window. I run a 4-1-2-1-2 (diamond wide). I've finally gotten some strikers on this team and for the most part I was able to upgrade on many fronts either with higher rated players or similarly rated players who are younger and will improve. My lineup:

GK: Sebastion D'Angelo, 76 OVR (26 Y/O from Argentina, was a backup at Boca when I arrived and eventually became a starter, was in the mid 60's when I started this career. Replaces my high 68 OVR GK who was over 30 Y/O)
RB: Fernando Navarro, 68 OVR (I poached this guy out of the Mexican league for just over a million. The 26 Y/O replaces a 34 Y/O 66 OVR RB who is now on the bench. Thank you for your services Mr. Nagore as you consider retirement)
RCB: Serran, 68 OVR (This 31-year old continues to hold down this position, especially after selling my other CB from last season for over $1.5 million. He's solid.
LCB: Chema Rodriguez, 64 OVR (This 23 Y/O kid from Spain replaces Mr. Jean-Sylvain Babin who at 71 OVR I sold for the amount mentioned above. I'm confident he'll fill in well)
LB: Adama Traore, 68 OVR (I sent one of my GN guys all the way out to the A-League and ended up finding this 25 Y/O from Ivory Coast. Speedy (85 spd, 87 acc), he replaces a 29 Y/O French dude who apparently wants to retire after this season. The Frenchy is actually a 69 OVR but I rather develop my future)
CDM: Mikel Iribas, 66 OVR (Just a solid all-around guy, one of those who plays above his rating. 27 Y/O from Spain was one of the most pleasant surprises in my first few months both as a RM and coming off the bench)
RM: Rafael Lopez 66 OVR (This 17 year old kid from Venezuela is someone I scouted while at Boca and he was poached away by some other European team, and I saw that he was developing well so I went out and paid for him. I have BIG expectations for him given his early developments)
LM: Sergio Prendes, 62 OVR (29 Y/O old from Spain has actually played really well although he stands to be replaced in the near future. Can also be a strike so that's an asset considering my only two true strikers are my starters)
CAM: Javito, 63 OVR (31 Y/O vet is the captain this season, he gets his job done each and every time so I can live with him for now as I look for his future replacement)
RS: Steve Leo Beleck, 63 OVR (I saw Udinese was looking to loan this promising 22 Y/O kid from Cameroon so I stepped right up and got him on a full season loan. Depending on how he does I may look to gather up the fund to out right buy him next season)
LS: Orlando Gaona Lugo, 62 OVR (Another product of the Boca Jrs network, this kid was dusting up on their roster and I got him for dirt cheap ($200K). 25 Y/O Paraguayan prospect with KILLER speed (93/93).

                              Subs:
Jose Vidal, CM, 57 OVR. 16 Y/O from Argentina through the scout system.
Sergio Alvarez, CM, 55 OVR. Same as above.
Samuel Geoffroy Camille, LB, 69. The Frenchy looking to retire. Still a solid guy off the bench.
Hector Verdes, CB, 63 OVR. 31 Y/O Spain dude will fill in for the starters from time to time.
Dani Ponce, LM, 60 OVR. Somewhat promising 24 Y/O from Spain. Not sure what to make of him yet. Hasn't showed me enough in the time he's been given.
Jose Miguel, CAM, 58 OVR. 17 Y/O from Argentina through the scout system actually filled in as a striker late last season and held his end of the bargain. Promising.
Jose Manuel, CM, 54 OVR. Yet another 16 Y/O kid from Argentina.

                              Reserves:
Raul Parrela, KG, 51 OVR. Freshly signed off my youth squad, 16 Y/O Brazilian I hope to develop.
Nagore, RB, 66 OVR. Recently replaced as the starting RB.
Angel, LB, 67 OVR. Can play as a LB or LM. The 33 Y/O dude from Spain is still an asset.
Alexander Wlazlowski, CAM, 48 OVR. I got burned going for one of those guys who is advertised as a bright young upcoming star. I went all the way to Poland to get this 18 Y/O who is no better than my own youth talent ...
Ruben Sanz, CM, 54 OVR. 35 Y/O from Spain is just a fill-in at this point.
Vicente Lavado and Luciano Couto: 49 OVR CAM's from Brazil that I hoped to get out on loan but will just have to mix into the rotation here and there.

A lot of this youth I was forced to sign last season with absolutely no depth. I also have Fabiao Pauleta, a 17 Y/O CAM who was the very first youth I brought in. He did very well for me as a 47 OVR and he's now 51 OVR and out on loan at Portsmouth.

                              I'd appreciate some feedback
