Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
Isn't it just amazing when you have a player aged 30+, and you expect him to decline into absolute trash but then he plays like a man fighting for his life? I had this happen with Frank Lampard at Chelsea in FIFA 13 (but naturally), with Giuseppe Vives at Torino, and with Gordon Greer at Brighton.
Also, good shout on the youth academy bit. It's nice to see who everyone has in store for the future, and how it varies according to club status and position. I'll be adding a youth academy progress report along with my Christmas and end of season updates from now on.
Definitely! I've noticed this particularly on my RB Barry Fuller aged 31. He's the original team vice captain, so I kept it realistic and promoted him to captain after selling the original team captain in the first season. He hasn't gave any of the younger guys a chance to take his place ever since I took over the team. My most consistent player and the team is always very well organized when he has the armband. One of the main reasons why Çamdal has been playing as a midfielder and not his natural position is because Fuller very much deserves to be the starter. Solid at the back, leadership, and even pushes up in attack. Not the fastest, but his experience shows as he's always in the right place.
Looking forward to reading the scout reports! I know I only have low level scouts, but I'm sure you'll have a lot more exciting players!Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
| FENERBAHÇE TO THE TOP |
I decided to do a Creation Centre career mode in the Turkish league with Fenerbahce SK. They are a 4.5 star team with plenty of talent (Bruno Alves, Moussa Sow, Emenike, Demirel) and a bright young starlet in Salih Ucan (19yo, 70 rated, 83 pot.).
5 minute halves
Slight speed sliders (I'm not that good but I'm an expert on FIFA)
World Class
I made some early changes to the team in the summer transfer window:
In:
Omer Toprak Leverkusen > Fenerbahce £7,000,000
Tomas Rosicky Arsenal > Fenerbahce £5,500,000
Cheick Diabate Bordeaux > Fenerbahce £2,800,000 (terrible player, will sell him)
Robinhooooo! Milan > Fenerbahce £4,600,000 (what a steal)
Out
Pierre Webo Fenerbahce > Bursaspor £3,500,000
Emmanuel Emenike Fenerbahce > Newcastle £13,500,000 (great price)
Salih Ucan Fenerbahce > West Ham on loan
Mehmet Topal Fenerbahce > Aston Villa £5,500,000
Serdar Kesimal Fenerbahce > Kayserispor £1,300,000
Current Team
GK: Volkan Demirel 78
RB: Gokhan Gonul 77 CB: Bruno Alves 81 CB: Omer Toprak 78 LB: Caner Erkin 76
RDM: Raul Meireles 82 LDM: Emre Belozoglu 81
RAM: Dirk Kuyt 78 LAM: Tomas Rosicky 81
CF: Robinho 80
ST: Moussa Sow 84
Subs
CB: Joseph Yobo 75 LB: Hasan Ali Kaldirim 74 LB: Michal Kadlec 76 CM: Alper Potuk 77 CDM: Cristian 75 CM: Samuel Holmen 74 ST: Cheick Diabate 77
I'm 17 games into the season and I'm currently top of the table with 49 points. I drew with lowly Sivasspor in a terrible performance where Caner Erkin grabbed an equaliser in the 89th minute. Trabzonspor is second on 39, mostly because they bought Leandro Damiao. Galatasaray, Bursaspor and Besiktas make up the top 5. I'm looking to buy Diego as it happened in real life recently and he will fill the gap caused by Rosicky retiring in the future. Also Kadlec in LB is out for 5 months with a broken leg. Bruno Alves is terrible - I will sell him, he causes so many mistakes at the back. Also, Fenerbahce is completely superior to any other clubs in the league, so I might move abroad to manage another club with a greater challenge.
I have three good youth players in my academy:
Gokhan Ozer - Overall 53-69 - Potential 72-94
Juan Fernandez - Overall 40-54 - Potential 65-87
Nuri Cigerci - Overall 44-58 - Potential 70 - 92
Currently Ryan Babel is top scorer in the league with 11 goals, and joint second are two Fenerbahce players, Sow and Robinho with 10. Sow is a beast and he is at 84 for me.
I'll give reports on games when I can. Thanks for reading!

I'm a rookie to fifa career mode so this may seem very obvious. Do transfer budgets get refunded after each window or will I be in a bad position if I spend all of itComment

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
| FENERBAHÇE TO THE TOP |
Decided to turn off sliders.
Fenerbahce 4 - 2 Besiktas
Holosko 9'
Robinho 21'
Robinho 45' (pen)
Bruno Alves 53'
Rosicky 78'
Hoolahan 90+2'
MOTM: Rosicky
An exciting game that started off terribly, but ended very well. Filip Holosko walked through our defense and shot low into the left corner. Robinho got us back in it, converting a perfect cross by Rosicky. Hutchinson handballed a volley from Belozoglu, giving us a penalty which Robinho hit through the middle. In the second half Bruno Alves headed in from a corner, and Rosicky scored from a metre away. Wes Hoolahan (WTF!) got a constellation diving header to make the final score 4-2 to Fenerbahce.
Erciyesspor 0 - 4 Fenerbahce
Sow 23'
Toprak 45'
Potuk 50'
Sow 73'
MOTM: Belozoglu
Relatively easy game against a 11th-placed side out of 18. Sow's first goal and Potuk's goal were both trippy. Toprak scored a close-range volley and Sow scored a tap-in to seal the 4-0 victory.
Fenerbahce 5 - 0 Kayserispor
Simmed. Potuk scored 2, Kuyt 1, Belozoglu 1, and Bruno Alves 1. Potuk is now 'Showing Great Potential' after that performance.
The table now looks like this:
Fenerbahce - 58 pts
Galatasaray - 48 pts
Trabzonspor - 45 pts
Bursaspor - 40 pts
Gaziantepspor - 33 pts
Besiktas - 31 pts
Kasimpasa - 29 pts
Antalyaspor - 28 pts
Karabukspor - 27 pts
Eskisehirspor - 25 pts
Elazigspor - 20 pts
Erciyesspor - 19 pts
Konyaspor - 18 pts
Kayserispor - 17 pts
Sivasspor - 15 pts
Rizespor - 14 pts
Genclerbirligi - 13 pts
Belediyespor - 10 pts
Also, anybody got any realistic transfers? I need to strengthen the back and I need a ne CAM because both Kuyt and Rosicky will retire soon. I was thinking Diego or Raffael.Last edited by Quazar; 07-09-2014, 12:18 AM.Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
You have a set transfer budget for the whole season. You get a set transfer budget every season. If you have been doing well, you can request funds under the office tab. So yeah, if you spend it all in the first transfew window you won't be able to buy in the next window.Comment

Although you have the possibility of getting prize monies from cup competitions between August and January. Aside from that and what's listed above, you'll have to sell/loan players to get the funds to bring in someone new.Comment

No, but there's one Champions League spot and one Europa league spot for next season. Need to strengthen my defense before Europe though! Much higher quality imoComment

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
NO SURRENDER
After being placed into the third division by the Scottish FA, Rangers have finally made it back to the Scottish Premiership. Taking the helm is new English Manager, Mark Asato, a rather unknown man who has only experience at the youth academy level. This year, the Rangers board decided it was his time to prove himself and was given the opportunity to manage Rangers. Asato was quoted saying, "I am ready for this challenge, and I plan on bringing success back to Rangers in the upcoming years." Needless to say, the young manager at only the age of 34, has a lot of confidence, and we shall see if this will pay off for him and for Rangers.
First Year Budget: €7.5 million
Summer Transfers In:
Beckerman (Real Salt Lake) > €800,000
Shipp (Chicago Fire) > €200,000
Gauld (Dundee United) > €1.7 million
Guagua (Free) > €7,000 a week wage
Camdal (Free) > €3,000 a week wage
Summer Transfers Out:
Telfer (Loan) > Patrick Thistle
Murdoch (Loan) > Bristol City
Gasparotto (Loan) > Port Vale
McAusland (Loan) > Cork City
August Matches:
RANGERS at Celtic L 2-1
Aberdeen at RANGERS W 4-0
RANGERS at Patrick Thistle W 2-0
September Matches
Hearts at RANGERS W 1-0
Esbjerg FB at RANGERS W 2-1 (Europa League)
Current Standings
1. Motherwell - 10 pts
2. Celtic - 10 pts
3. RANGERS - 9 pts (with game in hand)
4. Hearts - 9 pts
Sky Sports caught up with the new Rangers manager after his 1-0 victory over Hearts:
SS: You've been playing really well in the league, but how did that first match loss against bitter rivals Celtic affect you and your players?
MA: Thank you, it's really been the lads being focused and they're the ones out there playing, not me. Yes, the opening day loss to Celtic hurt. I know that many of the fans were upset at the result, and we played well, but to give a cheap late goal like we did is unacceptable. As you can see, we've bounced back from that defeat with three straight victories and I believe we'll do just fine.
SS: Your new signing, Harrison Shipp, has been a revelation for you as he has four goals in the four matches. Do you think his performance will continue on this pace and perhaps set a new SPL record?
MA: Shipp has been great since arriving from the Fire, and it's been a pleasure coaching him and watching him grow. Will he set the goal scoring record? I do not know. It is way too early in the season to be talking about that.
SS: Being in the Europa League this season, how far do you think you'll take Rangers?
MA: Well, it's an honor to be in this tournament and as to how far we'll go, well I guess everyone will just have to wait and see.
