Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

    What's up everyone?
I'm in my second year with Lazio, need a little help. First year I had a horrible first half of the season, then bounced back winning 14 straight matches and got to champions league stop. Today, after many transfers, either due to the fact that amazing players like Candreva wanted out or simply good negotiations, my team is the following:

    4-3-3
    S. Romero, Cavanda, Garay, Rojo, Lulic, E.Pérez, Illarramendi, Biglia, Di María, Higuain, Keita. (If you can't tell, I'm Argentine)

Thing is, I'm paired up with a tough champions league group, having City, Feyenoord and Bilbao. After the first round of three games I'm first with 6 points. But my players are getting no rest, whatsoever. I have games every two or three days, and when I don't I have the int'l games. As I'm managing argentina, players like di maria or higuain are always tired.

Approaching the january transfer window and with a 10m budget, what striker and midflier could I buy?

Currently my bench has no subs that are over 75, except Ledesma and an injured Anderson...

dude I was reading your post and I was already like "this dude has to be Argentinian"

You just need depth, so I'm assuming players in the low 70's OVR?

Adrian Ramos, 78-rated striker. You should be able to get him for 6-7 million. For the midfield I can think about Charles Aranguiz and Tonny Vilhena. Hector Herrera could be pretty good also. Ramos and one of those should cost about 10-12 million.

And always go for squad depth.

I was thinking on spending some money on Leandro Paredes. When i had him in fifa 13, starting out at 75 he grew to an 86 CAM. Does anyone have him in his squad??

you will not find a bigger fan of his in this game than me. You just gotta hope his price tag isn't out of your budget already but go for it.

Is everyone/anyone enjoying the Stuttgart updates (I know there's only been a few thus far) or would you be more interested in seeing a career mode out of the A-League? I am enjoying playing as Stuttgart and playing in the Bundesliga, but I also really enjoyed playing as the Brisbane Roar before my kids stuffed it all up with their shenanigans.

Basically I'm asking, "Should I continue the Stuttgart career or make a new Roar career? Help me please. I cannot decide."

If rumour is to be believed, Indiblue has informed Brighton & Hove Albion's board of directors and club president Tony Bloom that he is considering remaining at Brighton and seeing out the remainder of his contract, which expires in the summer of 2018 after the Fifa World Cup in Russia.

Believed to be the source of Indiblue's change of heart is the emergence of Will Buckley as one of the best players not just in England or Europe, but in the world. After back-to-back seasons scoring 16 league goals, Buckley has achieved the same figure in just 14 games so far this season, picking up 8 assists to go along with it.

With the 27-year-old widely viewed as a special talent, Brighton seem wise and look quick to act. It is reported that they have offered the Oldham native a new contract worth as much as £100,000 per week, bearing a release clause of £45 million.

It is said that upon hearing of Indiblue's provisional agreement with Arsenal, Buckley told his manager that he would not join the London outfit. He is believed to have informed Indiblue that due to his emotional connections with Brighton and his childhood team Newcastle, he would only consider a move to the Magpies or outside England.

Speculation is strong that Indiblue is set to remain at the Amex for the duration of his contract, at the end of which he will decide whether to remain at the club or move overseas, as he is adamant that wherever he goes, he would like Buckley to join him.
Great news! I like the little hitch in your story that you used to explain the reason for your stay. Cool to see a player make an impact in the manager's decision as opposed to it usually being the other way around. Can't wait to see what Brighton will turn out with.

I'm reading! I read just about everything that gets posted on here. You'll see my thumbs up at the bottom of your post. I like reading about your Stuttgart career but hey if you feel you'll enjoy more the A-League then go with what's best for you. Playing in a European league is great and everything, but it doesn't compare with how you feel using your favorite team. I have the same thing, I love my Wimbledon career but at the same time I'm dying to make another career with my favorite club Guadalajara (Liga MX). Don't worry, I'll be reading your career updates with either team!

Thanks for the input. I think I'll be going with the A-League career, using Brisbane Roar again. There's just something about using an Australian team that I really enjoy. It's challenging because the players aren't at a super-high level (playing with Stuttgart is night and day from playing as an A-League team), and they have some interesting restrictions I'm going to try to place on myself. For instance, A-League teams are allowed to have only 5 "visa" players at any time, although players on short loan are exempt from that number. So the Youth Academy is going to be a huge huge deal for me.

Hope you guys like what's to come!

It's because that's where your passion is. For example I know the Champions League has a really high level of competition, but if Bayern are playing Real Madrid at the same time that Guadalajara have a league match, I don't care I'll watch the Guadalajara match without ever flipping the channel because that's the team I'm passionate for.

Mexico has something similar with the Visa players. I can't remember the exact amount, but that actually doesn't apply to my club Guadalajara because they play with only Mexican players. A player has to be Mexican by birth (in accordance with Mexican law) in order to play there. Also, if you're Mexican but have played an official match with a national team other than Mexico, you cannot play at this club. So same thing with me the youth academy is vital when playing with them. Best of luck looking forward to the first update!

                        Dagenham - '13-'14 season
                        February update

                        Three games. Quick and painless.

Vs Northampton: 0-0 Draw. A very evenly played game ended on a fair results for both sides. Northampton plays very well.
@ Accrington: 1-0 Win. Howell scored on his very first full game back from injury and we held on for a win despite losing Wilkerson to a red card due to a last man takedown when he missed the ball on a slide tackle.
Vs Wycombe: 4-0 Win. As the result shows this was a statement win over a team that was in 7th place coming into this game. Howell, Scott, Escalante, then Scott again were responsible for the fireworks. This was Escalante's first goal with the team and boy was it a beauty. PROOF:

                        <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/tJfCNz7Qy-0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Another undefeated month helps us stay at the front of the pack after 33 games.

                        Football League 2 Standings
                        1. Dagenham - 67pts
                        2. Portsmouth - 63pts
                        3. Chesterfield - 61pts
                        4. S****horpe Utd - 60pts
                        5. Bury - 57pts
                        6. Plymouth Argyle - 55pts
                        7. Southend United - 54pts

Not much more to add after a 3-game month other than Woodall picked a sprained ankle in that last game and will be out for 3 weeks. Afolabi Obafemi will get the starts in the meantime, a 19 Y/O I like a lot because he's a speedster. Brian Saah, who began the season as the starting RCB is now our main CB backup as Scott Doe became a rock in the back end for us both as a CB and fullback. Luke Howell, on the other hand, has returned to the starting CAM position with Sean Shields going back to becoming one of our main subs.

Oh, wait, how could I forget? How about our captain Abu Ogogo picking up Player of the Month honors? Awesome job by our CDM!

We have not received the initial reports from our scouts in Germany and Denmark so no new additions to the Youth Squad for now.

                        - Jamie Black (GK, 46-48 OVR, 72-78 POT): An intriguing 16 Y/O prospect from Scotland who stands at 6'7", 194lbs.
                        - Jordan Derbyshire (GK, 52-56, 82-88): This 16 Y/O kid from England is arguably the better GK prospect. He's 6 inches shorter than Black.
                        - Xabi Lopez (DEF, 42-44, 69-73): 16 Y/O kid from Spain will be a CG or CDM but I'm disappointed that his potential is so low.
                        - Keith Carey (ATT, 42-44, 72-78): This 17 Y/O from Scotland is now expected to be an attacker.
                        - Fabian Torres (MID, 46-48, 72-78): This 16 Y/O from Spain is likely to be a CAM/CM.
                        - Kagetoki Miyoshi (DEF/MID, 42-488, 77-91): Could This 15 Y/O kid from Japan surpass Derbyshire as our top prospect? He has a chance I think.
                        * Denotes recent addition to the Y.A.

6 games this month and 6 games in April before what I hope will be the final game of the season on May 3rd.

                          Brighton & Hove Albion
                          Taking Flight

                          Bridcutt shocker, Bendtner to return?

In what seems to be a rip-roaring week in East Sussex, Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder and captain Liam Bridcutt has informed club officials that he is not interested in signing a new contract, and that he would like to consider his immediate footballing future.

The Englishman, who plays for Scotland through ancestry, is believed to have turned down a one-year extension to his existing deal, which has just under four years remaining on it. The new deal would have made him Brighton's third highest earner behind Ivan Rakitic and Will Buckley.

"It's true that Liam has turned down Brighton's offer," his representative said. "My client isn't sure just exactly what he wants or where his future lies. At this time, we are considering our options and exploring all alternatives. However, I would like to stress that Liam is an ********* player and captain. In no way will this change or affect his performances at the club, and Indiblue has already informed me that Liam retains his faith. We remain 100% committed to Brighton as long as we are here."

In other news, a shock bid for Nicklas Bendtner is not out of the question this January. Nabil Ghilas, who was signed from Porto for £6 million in August following Bendtner's £14 million departure to Real Madrid, has underwhelmed Indiblue despite already picking up 8 goals and 6 assists in all competitions. Allegedly, Indiblue does not feel that the Algerian offers the same physical and emotional presence as the Dane, whose Drogba-esque ability to inspire his teammates is being sorely missed. It is likely that if Brighton choose to follow through with the move, they will be flush with suitors looking to acquire a proven goal scorer and creator, including the possibility of Ghilas himself being offered to Real Madrid as part of a package.

Alternatively, Indiblue could scrap a move for Bendtner altogether and make Buckley his go-to striker. The Oldham-born forward has already proven that he has what it takes to score on a consistent basis, having netted 16 times in 14 Premier League games this season. Undoubtedly, Indiblue will be experimenting with Buckley as a lone striker between now and the onset of the January transfer window.

Those who say that Buckley lacks the physical strength required to play in the role would do well to recall Liverpool under Rafael Benitez, when Fernando Torres used his pace to wreck defences across England and Europe. With a playmaker of Rakitic's calibre behind him, Buckley could use the opportunity to truly cement himself as the best English footballer of his generation.

I'll try to be a bit more interactive, things have been slightly preoccupied over on my side with the conflicting feelings about staying/leaving, but that's sorted now.

AFTER MANAGERIAL ROLLER-COASTER, BRISBANE ROAR SIGN THEIR MAN

                              August 1, 2013

Brisbane -- Following a season in which the Brisbane Roar finished fifth in the league table, and a playoff loss to eventual A-League premiers Western Sydney Wanderers, manager Ange Postecoglou resigned from his post in April to manage his hometown club, Melbourne Victory. That led to the appointment of Rado Vidošic. However, whether Brisbane Roar had buyer's remorse, or Vidošic believed he found greener pastures, the two parties mutually agreed to terminate that appointment mere weeks before the commencement of the new A-League season, leaving the Roar without a manager.

Today, however, the Brisbane Roar have announced their signing of American manager M. Willoughby. Brisbane officials said today that they felt confident that their new manager would be able to lead them back to A-League champions.

When asked about his philosophy, the new manager stated an importance in a pass-heavy, ball control style. "If you control possession, you limit the opportunities of your opponents. They can't score goals if they don't have the ball," said the manager. Fans and team executives alike hope that the ball control style of play leads to results, and gets Brisbane back to holding the trophy at the end of the season.

He has a good balance of attacking and defending stats. He's a solid crosser with the ability to get forward, but still has the defensive stats needed to hold down the RB spot in La Liga.
Thanks. I might consider him in my next Career Mode that I will be starting fopefully on Friday or Saturday
