And it shouldn't be. If you want a prize, you need to earn it all the way. It sounds fair to me that if we want to participate in the Europa League next season, we need to win the trophy. In addition, it will be lovely to claim my first piece of silverware with this magnificent club.

Alright, Indi. Thanks for your time. Good luck for the rest of the season.

Thanks, fellas. Have a good one.
If you reach the final of the Capital One Cup and the winner has qualified for Europe, the 6th place team gets Europe, not the cup runnners up. It only works like that in the FA Cup irl. That being said it might be different on FIFA

I had a feeling it might be this way. Now that I think of it, makes sense since Spurs are in the qualifying rounds IRL, not Sunderland. Thanks, mate.

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

Another Freiburg update, with THE craziest result i've had on this Fifa.

        DECEMBER

        BUNDESLIGA

        Freiburg 2–2 Wolfsburg
The earlier meeting in the season between the two sides finished as a 1-1 draw, but with the home advantage, I was confident of continuing my winning form. But I was outplayed in the early stages, with De Bruyne a constant threat every time Wolfsburg attacked. Fortunately though, in the 40th minute, Sneijder’s corner was completely misjudged by their keeper, allowing Xhaka to head in to an empty net. But right on half time, a terrible mistake by Brooks gifted Luuk De Jong the ball and he had no trouble in scoring from inside the box. Into the 2nd half and I was desperate to take the lead again. Following some good work down the left from Locadia and Ontivero, I did just that as the Argentinian cut it back for Kittel to finish neatly at the near post. I was seemingly in control, but an accurate ball from De Bruyne in behind my defence allowed Medojevic time to shoot. It seemed although he scuffed it, but it somehow beat Begovic at his near post to make it 2-2 in the 87th minute. 2 dropped points for sure considering the manner in which both goals were conceded.

        UEFA Champions League

        Freiburg 2–1 Zenit
In the last group game, I knew that a point would guarantee my progress into the knockout rounds, but really I was after all 3 which we give me top spot, and more likely, an easier opponent in the next round. And I was on course for just that as Locadia headed in a Kittel cross unmarked and unchallenged at the back post in the 28th minute. In the 45th minute Zenit had a corner, but Ginter cleared out and I countered with devastating effect, eventually leading to Kittel squaring the ball across to Ginter who had for some reason rampaged forward. Nevertheless, he finished to double the lead. Djordjevic pulled one back for Zenit in 2nd half stoppage time, but it wasn’t enough to stop the Freiburg party as we topped the group in our 1st ever season in the competition.

        BUNDESLIGA

        1860 Munich 1–3 Freiburg
I was left doubting the ability of 1860 Munich after our last meeting, but they started this game phenomenally well and caused me problems throughout the 1st half. I finally broke through in the 41st minute when Kittel spread the ball out wide to Ontivero, who lashed it across the keeper into the back of the net. Just after the break, Munich’s persistence paid off; my defence was caught out of position allowing Wannenwetsch to score in off the post in the 50th minute. Despite some slack performances from some of the team, Kittel was playing brilliantly. His trickery won a corner which he himself delivered finding the head of Brooks who somehow flicked it right into the far corner to give us the advantage. I was able to hold off any Munich attacks rather comfortably, and secured the game in the 86th minute when Darida unselfishly squared to Xhaka who tapped into an empty net.

        Mainz 0–10 Freiburg
This was another game which, in reality, I was expecting maximum points from. My thoughts came to fruition after just 4 minutes, when Locadia superbly tucked home a half volley. My electric start continued, and after 7 minutes I was 2 up, Kevin Volland nodding in a deflected cross. Volland then scored again in the 12th minute, taking down a pass from Locadia and finishing well into the bottom corner. The rout continued when Locadia finished off a rebound after Kittel’s header was well saved. The desolation was incredible, and I added a fifth in just the 24th minute when Locadia headed in from a corner. I was relentless and found myself 6-0 up inside 27 minutes when Holtby smashed in. Unfortunately I then hit a patch of not scoring for 27 minutes, but Volland ended that, completing his hat trick in the 54th minute. The 2nd half wasn’t anyway near as entertaining, but Locadia got his 4th in the 78th minute with a well-placed header. In the 85th minute, Telles got his goal with a low drilled shot into the far corner. Locadia got his 5th of the match in the 90th minute, spinning his man and firing into the far corner. I simply have no idea what happened.

        DEUTSCHER POKAL

        Armenia Bielefeld 2–0 Freiburg
After the most incredible game of career mode I think I have played this year, I was eager to see if I could keep up the scintillating attacking play. But, I couldn’t and fell behind through a wonder goal in the 29th minute. Right on half time, it was 2! A surging run down the left was followed by a great delivery, leaving Marquez with a simple finish. My reinforcements in the 2nd period were utterly useless and although I had more of an influence in the way the game was dictated, Bielefeld were too good on the day, and handed me my first domestic defeat of the campaign, consequently knocking me out of the cup I’d won 2 years running.

Standings at the end of December (all teams have played 20 games)

        1) Freiburg 50 points
        2) Bayern Munich 44 points
        3) Leverkusen 44 points
        4) Schalke 43 points
        5) M’gladbach 37 points
        6) Dortmund 36 points

        UCL knockout fixtures

        Manchester United – Valencia
        Juventus – Dortmund
        Atletico Madrid – Porto
        Barcelona – Ajax
        Bayern Munich – Liverpool
        Real Madrid – Arsenal
        Freiburg – Sporting Lisbon
        Chelsea – AC Milan

Squad report: What a month! A 10-0 win at Mainz followed by a 2-0 defeat to the bottom side in the division below me. For the record I do play on legendary with the sliders set in favour of the CPU. Still I have a 6 point lead at the top, and face Sporting in the round of 16 in the UCL. Just think if I didn’t win my group I would be facing Bayern. Locadia’s goals have now taken him to 22 in 23 in all competitions and Volland has started to show his class going forward. Unfortunately, Brooks is going to be sold. The homesick saga has dragged on, and I can’t see him changing his mind. I won’t be selling him to another Bundesliga club though that’s for sure. Stefan De Vrij is the man I shall go over as I managed him at United and I know he is very solid. Cue the January transfer window!

We have a winner, gentlemen! What happened, Jwetson, was that you utterly humiliated poor Mainz. I felt the same way when I went into halftime against Birmingham 6-0 up. Great performance!

I'll have to get back to you on that. The game must be different, because I'm sure I qualified to my first Europa League by losing the Capital One Cup. I'll have to check for you when I get home

                Wolverhampton Wanderers

Wolverhampton Sign Michail Antonio from Sheffield Wednesday

                Sky Sports 7th August

Just a few days out from their opening against Crawley town Wolverhampton Wanderer have signed Sheffield Wednesday winger Michail Antonio for an undisclosed fee estimated at around 1.7 million pounds, breaking the leagues transfer fee paid by 500 000 pounds. (Jose Fonte was the previous record when Southampton bought the defender for 1.2 million pounds in 2010). The news broke out on the clubs website with a statement from manager Jake Gaspar about the new signing: 'He is a great player and will fit very well in the team. He is only 23 and I am excited to see him grow at this club, Welcome aboard Michail. Michail who came out of Tooting & Mitcham United before signing for Reading when he was 17. Struggling to get into the first team squad he was loaned out to many teams before finding himself at Wednesday last year, scoring 9 goals in 43 games off the wing. Wolverhampton's website also stated that he'll wear the vacant number 7 shirt. Antonio is the 5th signing for the Wolves this season and the second winger after Robert Hall from Bolton was bought in on loan late last month.

                      Better, Best, Basque

                      Press Conference

Congratulations on winning the Copa del Rey in your first season!

Thank you! Winning a trophy in my first season at charge of the team is absolutely great! This is Athletic Club's first major trophy in 30 years and the players are happy for winning it. It took a lot of work but it was totally worth it. We want to dedicate it to our wonderful fans and all the Basque people.

You also finished second in the league. Pretty good first season, right?

You're right. We were about six points behind Real Madrid who had a wonderful season and it's good to finish over great teams like Barcelona and Atletico. I, the board and the players don't care that much about our spot. The most important thing is that we will play in the Champions League next season.

Do you think many of your players will get bought?

I completely disagree! Our players know what means to wear the Athletic jersey and they would never leave the team if it's not needed. Everyone of the guys are proud to play for the team and they will do their best to help the team. They won't leave the team until it's needed.

                      How about you?

Will I leave, is that what you mean? No way! I have extended my contract by a year and I'll do my best to continue our good results. But after this season, nothing is sure...

Will you be able to reach the hights of last season with the added pressure from Champions League games?

I think so. Of course some games will be tougher but we are looking to add more depth to our squad in the summer. If we are able to make enough quality signings we will make it through. It won't be easy but we will try to finish second again.

What players will you be looking to bring in?

                      Basque players.

Do you think Ancelotti and Mandzukic deserved their places as the best manager and player?

Ancelotti had a great season and in my opinion he deserved his place. Mandzukic in the other hand... I don't think he deserved his place. Neymar had a much better season than he did. But that's none of my business.

You have promoted three players from the youth academy. What will you do with them?

I have spoken with the kids and they know what's best for them. They won't get much playing time in the team and we are looking to loan them out so they can get experience.

Do you think Athletic Bilbao is finally recognised around the world as a big team?

No offence to anyone but if you think Athletic are a small team you know nothing about football. But it's true we are getting more attention. It doesn't matter what others think about the club, though, our fans' opinion is important, not some glory hunters'.

What are your objectives for next season?

I want to win the cup again, finish in the top three in the league and reach the Champions League semi finals.

                      Squad Report

                      Starting XI

GK: Stephane Ruffier, 83 Ovr, 7/10 Our summer signing was a straight replacement for Gorka Iraizoz. He was meant to be a great keeper who was able to make great saves. Did he make great saves? Yes, time to time. Was he a great keeper? Not at all. He was way too sloppy, inconsistent and he let in a lot of howlers. Somehow he managed to get most clean sheets in the league. Won't get replaced because of lack of good goalies.

RB: Andoni Iraola, 77 Ovr, 8/10 Iraola played well the whole season and he got the captain's armband after Gurpegi was benched. Good defensively, alright offensively. Lacks pace. Will probably get benched.

CB: Mikel San Jose, 79 Ovr, 9/10 Started as a substitute but took the starting spot mid-season. He was amazing in the middle and the San Jose-Laporte-partnership worked really well. Young, talented, good at everything. Will keep his place and probably won't lose it. Ever.

CB: Aymeric Laporte, 77 Ovr, 8/10 This young Basque defender from the French side of the border played the whole season well and he managed to score a couple goals. Didn't develope as much as hoped. Will get replaced only if the Basque centre back is signed. You know who I mean.

LB: Mikel Balenziaga, 76 Ovr, 8/10 One of the biggest successes of the season. He ran on the left flank up and down helping Muniain. Balenziaga defended well, attacked well and he didn't get tired. Sometimes he leaves a bit too much space in defence. Won't get replaced.

CDM: Ander Iturraspe, 80 Ovr, 7/10 The young defencive midfielder had a good season if we exclude the thing he get payed to do: defend. He leaves too much space behind him in the middle and he's often out of position. Other than that he's strong, tall and a good passer. His future is unsure for know.

RM: Oscar de Marcos, 77 Ovr, 8/10 This man who can play in every position on the pitch was our substitute at the beginning of the season. After some great performances from the bench he finally got the starting spot from Susaeta. The decision was correct. De Marcos is fast, skillful and a good passer. He gets easily past defenders. Will probably play as a right back next season.

CM: Ander Herrera, 83 Ovr, 8/10 The midfield maestro who was left in Beñat's shadow. Plays always really well and gets the good passes and assists done. His downside is his bad stamina. Won't get replaced or sold. Unless we receive a huge offer.

CM: Beñat, 80 Ovr, 8/10 Started the season slowly but in the second half of the season he was unstoppable. He scored a lot of goals and he got a lot of assists. Became our midfield star who plays really well together with Muniain on the left. Will keep his spot.

LM: Iker Muniain, 82 Ovr, 9/10 Absolute monster and the star of the team. Runs up and down the left wing creating trouble with his every touch on the ball. He's really fast, great dribbler, great crosser and he scores goals. Probably our most valuable player. Won't lose his spot. Ever.

ST: Aritz Aduriz, 78 Ovr, 8/10 He had a great three quarters of a season and he was finishing many of our attacks, mainly with his head. The last quarter was pretty bad for him as he got only two goals in about ten games. Sadly he's old and he's decreasing quickly. Sadly he will get replaced.

                      Notable Substitutes

CB: Carlos Gurpegi, 73 Ovr, 6/10 The captain. He started the season as our first choice centre back but after playing badly he got replaced by San Jose. Every time he played the defence felt worse. Will keep his place on the bench or will get moved to the reserves.

RW: Markel Susaeta, 80 Ovr, 7/10 Another player who got dropped out of the starting eleven as the season progressed. Was okay but nothing great. Got couple goals and a couple assists. Will keep his place on the bench.

LW: Ibai Gomez, 78 Ovr, 7/10 Our substitute winger who didn't get that many games under his belt. He wasn't good and he was slower than expected. Might get out of the team as part of a deal...

ST: Kike Sola, 72 Ovr, 6/10 Was the bech striker who came in a douzen of times and netted a few goals. When he started the games he was pretty bad. Will keep his place on the bech.

So, unfortunately I had to go to the hospital because I had neck spasms, which, may not sound serious, but I couldn't get out of bed :/. They ended up stabilizing my neck, lifting me with my sheets into a cot, and the into the ambulance. Remember, this was at about 7 A.M. so all of my neighbors are mad at me. Lol. Anyway, I was only in the hospital for about 4 hours, and if you're wondering why I'm telling you this, it just means I won't be playing FIFA, like, at all, for a couple of days. Well, that's my life update... lol.

So here is the January update of my Freiburg career. Hope you enjoy and please leave feedback on your thoughts and how i could improve

                              JANUARY

Transfers in: Jores Okore from Aston Villa for £13.5 million
Dennis Diekmeier from Hamburg for £3.8 million.
Marouane Fellaini from Valencia for £4 million
Jonathan Tah from Hamburg for £4 million with Stephen Sama going the other way

Transfers out: John Anthony Brooks to Arsenal for £22.3 million
                              Oliver Sorg released from contract

                              BUNDESLIGA

                              Freiburg 1–1 Schalke
My 1st match after the winter break was against the only side I was yet to beat in this career. With Brooks gone from the side, and no replacement to take over from him, Immanuel Hohn stepped up to prove his worth in the side. In the 31st minute, after a mix up from a Schalke throw deep inside their own half, Locadia was brought down in the box by Matip, gifting me a great chance to go in front. That I did, with Sneijder smashing the ball into the top left hand corner, sending Unnerstall the wrong way. The 2nd period started face paced and full of action at both ends. Unfortunately, in the 52nd minute I was pegged back by the impressive Paulo Dybala, whose half volley was too strong for Begovic to handle. I was under the cosh from then on, with Dybala proving a constant threat. However, my defence came out on top, securing me yet another draw against Schalke.

                              Freiburg 4–1 Bor. M’gladbach
Jores Okore made his debut after signing from Aston Villa just 3 days earlier, but Diekmeier’s transfer didn’t go through in time for him to feature. The game started dreadfully as Sneijder had to be subbed off in the early stages with a broken ankle, ruling him out for 3 months. It took me a while to recover from the blow, but Locadia scored on the stroke of half time when Kittel’s brilliant solo effort was parried straight to him. The 2nd half started much brighter though, and Kittel doubled the advantage when a clearance was blocked by Locadia, and rolled out to the German to smash in. Just 2 minutes later it was 3, and what a goal it was. Locadia letting fly from 30 yards and the ball sailed into the top corner. The hat trick was completed in the 70th minute, when Sam’s effort was well saved, but just like his 1st goal, Locadia was there to tap in. Assifuah did grab a consolation for M’gladbach late on, but it took very little from a convincing home win against 1 of the top 6.

                              Dusseldorf 1–4 Freiburg
I felt I was more than capable of picking up the 3 points against Dusseldorf given the comfortable victory I had against them earlier on in the season, and I took the lead in the 15th minute thanks to header from Ginter. I doubled my advantage on the half an hour mark, with Darida tucking in nicely into the bottom corner. Locadia got his almost expected goal just 5 minutes later, and then Kittel drilled in just before the break to put 4-0 up. Dusseldorf pulled one back in the 45th minute, but the comeback was never going to happen, and the 2nd half petered out harmlessly giving me an excellent away win.

Standings at the end of January (all teams have played 23 games)

                              1) Freiburg 57 points
                              2) Bayern Munich 51 points
                              3) Leverkusen 51 points
                              4) Schalke 45 points
                              5) Dortmund 43 points
                              6) M’gladbach 41 points

Squad report: Overall a pretty good I think. It was a shame to lose Brooks but I was able to sell him early for a good price so it wasn’t too bad. The injury to Sneijder was bad though. I was toying with the idea of bringing in somebody else, but I felt I had enough cover with the Fellaini deal. I still can’t beat Schalke though! Fortunately Dybala left for Lazio but they then bought in Hulk on a free transfer. I top the league by 6 points, and can’t wait to play Sporting in the UCL, which you guys should be updated about later this evening.

                              Transfer review:
Jason Okore- The same rating as Brooks bought for 9 million less. A direct swap and a beast in the couple of games he’s featured in.

Jonathan Tah- Sama has been really disappointing, and in the couple of games I’ve played Hamburg, Tah has been brilliant. He’s 75 rated and just 21, so a better squad player than Sama.

Marouane Fellaini- I felt although I needed a bigger presence in midfield, and considering I’d managed him at United, I thought it could be a realistic transfer. Plus he only had 6 months left on his contract, so I got for about half the price.

Dennis Diekmeier- Another player brought in mainly for rotation, but I think he will provide a different alternative to the defensive Bamba.

After scraping through into the Championship many have been tipping Portsmouth to bounce straight back and get relegated. Mr Fish has said in a recent press meeting that he not only wants to stay in this league but he also want to achieve a top ten finishing spot "We have the team, the ability and the drive to push towards the top ten".

During the three pre season friendlies Pedro Azogue was injured for 4 months so his captain duties will be taken by Mahmoud Kahraba and the Vice captain role will be taken up by Nicky Shorey who is retiring at the end of this season.

During these two months Kahraba has really shown his class. He is a mile ahead of the rest of the team and plays way above his Ovr. Hes currently top goal scorer of the championship and third in assists.
