    Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

    Dagenham '15-16 Season
    August Update

    TRANSFERS OUT: Fabian Torres (CAM, 62 OVR), loaned to Yeovil Town for short term. Louis Dennis (RM, 58 OVR), sold to Carlisle United for $160K. Xabi Lopez (CDM, 58 OVR), loaned to Crewe Alexandra for a full season.
    TRANSFER IN: Yohan Wachter (CB, 60 OVR), purchased from FC Lorient in exchange for Ahmed Mohsen, agreed to a 4-year deal for $3K in wages.

    Quick notes from those moves, Torres had fallen out of the sub rotation with the arrival of Hourihane who could possibly be moved in the winter window so a short-term loan was his best chance for PT. Dennis was a sure target for sale after he barely progressed (+1) after 2 seasons. Lopez is blocked by Ogogo who has amazing stamina and plays every game so we don't want to hamper his development. He was, however, filing in from time to time at CB which is why we brought in Wachter (recall that our best CB, Wilkinson, is out for a while with injury). Mohsen was a surplus at striker and it was nice to be able to make a deal without shelling out money. By the way Wachter was previously on our roster on a short loan for the beginning of the '13-'14 season (was at 55 OVR at the time).

    So how are we doing in the Championship? Well ...

    5. Leicester City - 9pts

    ...

    23. Huddersfield - 1pt
    24. Bristol City - 1pt

    I have THE worst luck in cup play. There. Nothing else I wanna say about that.

    As far as actual league play I can't be upset about an undefeated month even if most of the results weren't wins. As a lot of us know this isn't an easy league to go into just two years after the team was in League Two. My conclusion regarding lower-ranked teams? Good goalies help A LOT. I definitely don't go undefeated without Schober who has been amazing this first month, especially against Stoke City when he had 8 saves, an 8.2 game rating and POG honors.

    You know what really sucks? Right as September begins we get an email from our trainers letting us know that Adamo Tena suffered a broken tailbone in practice and will be out for about 5 months. Remember when I short-loaned Torres because of the logjam at CAM? Welp. Hourihane steps up as the starting CAM but that means only Payne is there to back up the position so ... it was time to call up our best prospect, Fernando Monzon. When we first signed the Venezuelan to the academy I thought he'd be a CB but it turns out he's a CDM/CM with solid attack ratings and coming in at 68 OVR with potential to be special he'll definitely see PT in the rotation as a sub. Could he become Ogogo's eventual successor? Time will tell. In the meantime the right-footed 17 year-old with a 5-star weak foot will be carefully watched by the team and the media.

    No new additions have been made to the academy although we recently sent one of our scouts for a 3-month trip to Italy in search of attackers. Here's our youth squad:

    - Kenneth Hansen (LM/LW, 49-53, 68-72): 16 Y/O from Denmark whose best chance to contribute to the senior squad comes with staying in the academy for another season.
    - Manuel Burchert (CM, 52-56, 69-73): 17 Y/O from Germany in the same boat as Hansen
    - Tim Brooks (CDM, 60-64, 82-88): 15 Y/O from the United States who will likely be called up to the senior team after this upcoming season.
    - Emilo De Mesquites (CM, 52-56, 71-75): 16 Y/O kid from Portugal would be smart to stay in the academy for a full season.
    - Victor Meyer (DEF/MID, 58-62, 75-81): 16 Y/O from the United States who will most likely play in the midfield. He needs a full season in the academy.
    - Francisco Anibal (LM, 55-59, 72-76): 15 Y/O from Portugal is finally settled at a position.
    - Goncalvo Guterres (MID/ATT, 45-49, 64-72): This 16 Y/O from Portugal is our lowest rated prospect at the moment.
    - David Antonio (MID/ATT, 46-54, 72-84): 15 Y/O from will for sure not be a defender and we're hoping he sticks at CF.
    - Brian Donaldson (MID/ATT, 39-51, 64-84): 15 Y/O from England signed because his size (6'2", 174lbs) and skills project him as a striker which is a position of need for the club.
    - Enric Tilea (CM 39-45, 65-77): 15 Y/O from Romania is finally settled at a position but probably needs a couple of years in the academy.
    * Denotes recent addition to the Y.A.

    Anything else? Oh yeah, one more thing ...

    Richard Paez accepts offer to become the new head coach for the Venezuelan National Team

    In what can only be described as inevitable Paez is back as Venezuela's head coach after a near 7-year tenure that ended in November of 2007. Since then Cesar Farias and Noel Sanvicente both tried but failed to bring the team to relevance without success, as Venezuela once again failed to qualify for the World Cup and had a forgettable performance at the most recent Copa America. Paez is undoubtedly Venezuela's most successful head coach at the moment and it was only a matter of time until he was back at the helm for the team.

    After resigning as Peru's head coach following a disappointing performance in Copa America, Paez received offers from Bolivia and Paraguay before ultimately receiving and accepting the offer from the FVF. Paez will now attempt to take his beloved Venezuela to its first ever world cup but the road, as always, will be tough with Venezuela hosting Brazil and Argentina next month in the first games for the 2018 World Cup qualifiers. Considering the fact that Paez recently led Dagenham to the FL Championship for the first time in club history, we have to at least give him the benefit of the doubt in his attempt to put Venezuela in the top 5 of CONMEBOL.
    That's all for now

        I'm Leeds United on my career mode, I'm my first season around November time, I've brought in a few players on loan, such as Leeroy Lita ST he's like what heskey uses to be like, big and strong and holds the ball up. Mundangayi CAM a great player, very strong and attacking minded which helps on counter attacks. Maurice ST a young, fast, exciting player, very good to play with, I'm sure I got him from inter Milan, scored a lot of goals for me, also got Hector bellerin Moruno RB, got a lot of pace, only going to get better, starting overall, 59 potential 82, he's definitely one to look out for, Josh Southway Lb another fast player, only 17 overall 57 potential 79 another player to look out for in the future, does anybody know of any other young cheap players that could be a great asset to my team?

                Alright, I think the holiday weekend (for Americans at least) really slowed this thread down the past few days. I know that I wasn't able to comment much because of it. Now that it's back to normal schedule though I'm hoping it will pick back up here!

                Completed my transfer dealings in preparation for my run at earning a spot in the Premier League this season. I'll have the update up later today.

                I'll just say it's my biggest window yet both in terms of amount of players brought in, and money spent. Don't expect any crazy signings though haha! I'm still just a Championship team!

                  Lots of transfer movement there! As an American I must say I don't approve of the sale of Howard! Really annoying with the Baines transfer request I can imagine.

                  Lots of draws this month in league play, not sure how the table sits though, but those draws can be tough.

                  Man, the entire time I was going through this update I was thinking okay great results for the month, and then I got to the last one. That's a tough loss in the first leg, especially with you at home for that one. It's going to take a great second leg to get you through, you are going to have to go attack heavy since you will have to score at the very least, 3 goals. Hope to see you moving on in the next update!

                    I love Akpom! He has an ideal combination of size, strength, and speed in order to score in a lot of different ways. He has been very consistent for me, but just as it looks like he's going to become my first choice striker, Brockie will come out and have a brace in his next game or something like that haha. I hope he keeps up that form for you for the season!

                    I HATE losing so early in a cup competition, I also went out in the first round of the Capital One Cup last season as well. Not a bad start to league play. I'm hoping you have a better season than I did and get yourself into the Premier League! Good luck!

                      Yes i know about the Howard sale, I had to make a decision and i would never, ever would get a better offer than that for an 31 year old Goalkeeper 79 rated.

                      EDIT: i indeed forgot to include the league table and goal scorers, We dropped from 4th to 5th.

                            Morecambe has confirmed a number of signings as it appears that manager, Tex Bumosix, has been extremely busy over the past few weeks. After minimal movement lead to a mid-table finish last season, it appears that Bumosix has decided to swing for the fences and try to position himself for promotion to the Premier League. It seems that 4 players have been bought on a permanent basis, a record number under the American manager, and one other player has been brought in on loan. The players joining the club are Michael Ngoo, Joseph-Claude Gyau, Youssouf Sabaly, and Tom Lawrence. Kingsley Coman will also be joining the club for the season on loan from French giants, PSG. Some of the spending was funded in part by the departures of Marcus Marshall for £1M and Jimmy Medranda for £150K. Both were rumored to have put in transfer requests in the waning weeks of last season. The young keeper from Northern Ireland, Conor Thompson, will also be spending another season away on loan.

                            Micahel Ngoo

                            The ex-Liverpool academy prospect has few equals when it comes to size. Standing at 6'6", Michael Ngoo is a force to be reckoned with in terms of physicality. Having most recently spent time at Walsall, the young striker joins Morecambe to play the role of target man in the middle. His strength and aerial ability due to his size will surely play a role in Bumosix's system regardless of formation.

                            Joseph-Claude Gyau

                            Joseph-Claude "Joe" Gyau is a pacey wing player from the United States. Bumosix has been familiar with him ever since his youth career in the IMG Academy back in the U.S. He moved on to 1899 Hoffenheim after leaving the U.S. Gyau is known predominately for his pace, which is matched by few. He is projected to be a change of pace player down the left wing. A change from the slower, but more technical Abel Molinero. Gyau is likely to see plenty of minutes, although mostly as a substitute.

                            Youssouf Sabaly

                            Youssouf Sabaly is a young defender who plays for PSG and has more recently seen himself sent on loan assignment to Evian. After his loan expired he was still not figured to be factored into the French champions side and wanted to move on to where he could earn more time. Sabaly has been brought in to provide depth on the left side of the defense where Chris Hussey came into the season as the sole defender for that side of the pitch. Sabaly is more of a true full back than Hussey is, and that should earn him playing time in the more defensive formations.

                            Kingsley Coman

                            Kingsley Coman is the second player to be brought in from PSG in this window. Coman will only be joining on loan for the year and will provide much needed depth on the right wing with the departure of Marcus Marshall and with Islam Feruz returning to Chelsea upon expiration of his loan. Coman has found minutes hard to come by the past few years with PSG, and has welcomed the loan opportunity to Morecambe as a chance to prove himself given the opportunity.

                            Tom Lawrence

                            Tom Lawrence has grown up in the Manchester United academy since 2002 making his senior debut in 2013. More recently he spent time on loan with Carlisle United and Yeovil Town. Lawrence is traditionally more of a center-forward, but he is likely to see more time with Morecambe in the slightly deeper lying CAM position. Tex Bumosix is excited to have his attacking instincts put to use from that new position.

                              How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

                              October 2017 - Season 5

                              AFC Wimbledon 2 - 1 Norwich City
                              WIM: Gornell 10' Ruiz 60'
                              NOR: Tettey 62'
                              A good win against a Norwich that has been fighting relegation this season. Wimbledon played great defense until the 62nd minute, where Norwich's Tettey picked up a rejected corner just outside of the box and took his shot to beat Wimbledon's young goalkeeper.

                              Aston Villa 0 - 1 AFC Wimbledon
                              WIM: Gornell PEN 49'
                              The Dons usually struggle to beat Villa's goalkeeper Steele and today was no different. The only way Wimbledon were able to defeat Steele was via a penalty shot after the Villa goalkeeper fouled Sam Vokes inside his box in a 1 on 1.

                              AFC Wimbledon 2 - 1 Everton
                              [I]EVE: Montero 45'[I]
                              WIM: Vokes 67' Gornell 89'
                              Everton's Montero has had a great scoring streak so far this season, and even with Tafazolli following him everywhere on the pitch he was still able to do damage. Terry Gornell didn't shine last season as his game revolved around James Hanson, but this season he has stepped up again now what he is paired up with Sam Vokes who has been improving, but is still struggling a little with adapting to Premier League football.

                              Europa League
                              AFC Wimbledon 2 - 3 FC Zurich
                              WIM: Harvey 8' James 79'
                              ZUR: Gavranovic 19' Buff 76' 90'
                              Another painful defeat for the Wimbledon B team in the Europa League who are playing well, but just can't get the results to reflect that. Many are beginning to question Worner's participation in the Europa League, as he has been unable to claim a clean sheet in the 3 matches and continues to make unnecessary mistakes in front of goal. Chavez might begin playing Cristophe Brown in the Europa League matches but it's not for sure yet, since Chavez has previously stated that he wants his first team to focus on the league. Another option would be to recall Adam Cowie (65)(+3) who's had a very productive loan spell with Charlton Athletic so far.

                              Southampton 1 - 0 AFC Wimbledon
                              SOT: Jose Fonte 47'
                              Southampton have been great this season, at one point in Champions League positions, and even though they've had bad results in recent matches they showed why they are still a team to look out for. Their goal came from a free kick cross, but what really amazed us is the fact that their defense completely shut Wimbledon off. Elliot Hewitt, Jacob Murphy, Terry Gornell, and Sam Vokes were all closely marked and Wimbledon were unable to get a single shot in 90 minutes. Incredible. Sam Vokes was taken off in the second half after perhaps his worst game since coming to London.

                              Capital One Cup
                              AFC Wimbledon 1 - 0 Barnsley
                              WIM: Clayton PEN 90'
                              Chavez started Max Clayton with the B team for the first time this season to give the young striker a bigger chance to finally score his first goal of the season. The press has been all over Clayton's inability to find the back of the net in over 10 appearances, but in his defense he's only played as a substitute. James and Clayton played together up front and used their speed to their advantage but the Barnsley goalkeeper was at the top of his game. It wasn't until a penalty was called for a foul on Max Clayton at the final minute that Clayton was able to get his much needed goal to stop doubting his abilities.

                              AFC Wimbledon 2 - 1 Middlesbrough
                              WIM: Gornell 14' Ruiz 76'
                              MID: Varga 90'
                              There wasn't much newly promoted Middlesbrough could do in this match, as Wimbledon were completely on top of them. It looked like The Dons' 17 year old goalkeeper Christophe Brown would get his 5th clean sheet of the season but unfortunately Middlesbrough scored with a very well prepared free kick in the final minute at the edge of the box. The young Scottish goalkeeper has really impressed since taking the starting spot from Ross Worner in the preseason.

                              Notable Youth Academy Players

                              Conor Marsden - ST (50-54, 73-77): This 16 year old from England may not have much potential, but he is a an exciting player due to his height: 6'4". Chavez is anxious to bring him up as he can fill in the target man position Hanson left behind, but he wants to wait at least one more season before calling him up.

                              Dean Rhodes - LB (60-64, 86-92): We thought Chavez would call this 16 year old from Scotland to the senior team but it looks like Chavez wants him to spend one more season with the U-17.

                              Jamie Mannus - DEF/MID (46-50, 78-88): This 15 year old from Northern Ireland has a bright future ahead of him. He stands at 6'5" but we are still unsure which is his preferred position.

                              Mark Watt - GK (56-60, 79-85): The 16 year old from Scotland looked set to be promoted last season, but the U-17 would be left without a goalkeeper. He may be promoted next season.

                              Michael Thompson - CAM (48-50, 82-88): The 16 year old from Northern Ireland has been impressing with the U-17 this year, particularly with his strength. He is hard to push off the ball, but he may not be promoted until next season.

                              Scott Stewart - LB (59-63, 80-86): The 15 year old from Scotland shows a lot of promise but may be used as a CB by Chavez due to his defensive mentality. There's a high chance he'll be promoted next season.

                              Sean Archer - CDM (50-54, 85-91): The 15 year old from Scotland is an incredible playmaker who prefers to stay in the defensive half and analyze the game from there. He's one of the most exciting players in the U-17 but he will not be eligible to be registered with the senior squad until next season.

                              ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                              A very impressive month has Wimbledon just 6 points away from 1st place (I still can't believe it!) However, many will argue that they didn't really face any "big" teams this month. Next month they will be put up to the test though. Many also consider Wimbledon's success to be in part thanks to the bad season Chelsea and Manchester City are having. Last season Manchester City finished in the Top 4 while Chelsea finished first, so it is very strange to see them still struggling three months into the season.
                              Wimbledon youth graduate Richard Odhlambo (71) has been playing well with the B team and has been improving his game with each appearance. He's pushing for a starting spot and may even take one soon. Mario Ruiz (70) has solidified himself as a starter this season again, adding that attacking mentality to the midfield and even getting some goals himself. Shaun Vincent (72) on the other hand, hasn't really stood out this season nor last season where he was a starter with Ruiz as well. Vincent does his job decently but doesn't impress consistently enough. That may be Odhlambo's window of opportunity.
                              International Friendlies
                              Australia 1 - 3 Scotland
                              SCO: Jack 21' McCormack 41' McGregor 73'
                              AUS: Rogic 47'
                              Ryan Jack made his international debut and immediately made an impact by scoring the first goal of the evening. Chavez experimented with the 4-2-3-1 formation and even though the team played well maintaining their offensive spark, Chavez didn't look too happy with the way the players were functioning together.
                              Scotland 2 - 1 Russia
                              RUS: Dzyuba 10'
                              SCO: Armstrong 58' Russell 75'
                              The team understood the new tactics a lot better tonight, but Russia proved to have a really strong defense as they defended their early goal. Scotland fans will say that it was only because Chavez was testing different players such as Blackburn Rovers' Jordan Rhodes who has only scored once in the Premier this season. In the second half Johnny Russell, the current starting striker for Chavez's new project, was subbed in and scored the winning goal.
                              ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

                              Overall it looks as Chavez's new 4-2-3-1 formation will work out really well with time. We attended Scotland's last practice before the players returned to their clubs, and the tactical approach is a lot better. Chavez is really taking advantage of these international friendlies to get his team in shape for this summer's World Cup.

                              Big news, Christophe Brown has just became the first AFC Wimbledon player Chavez calls up to the Scotland national team! 17 year old Brown (67) is replacing 31 year old Jamie MacDonald (67) on the squad list for the upcoming friendlies against Slovenia and Spain. Brown has been playing extremely well for his club and is deemed as the future of Scotland in goal. He's currently in 3rd place for most clean sheets so far in the Premier League. We caught up with Chavez for a few words: "Brown has a lot of potential so we feel it is best he begins working with the team and meets the guys. He can really learn a lot from the goalkeepers we have here David Marshall (73 @ 32yrs) and Cameron Bell (69 @ 31 yrs). It will be great experience for him. MacDonald was a great player to have in the team but he understands that this is a decision for the future looking ahead to what's coming up for Scotland."

                              Brown will be training with the national team but will be the 3rd goalkeeper and is not expected to debut in the upcoming friendlies as Cameron Bell is ahead of him on the list.

                                I'm really impressed with your league results. Hoping you can pick up the Europa League results though. Although if you get knocked out early and can put your focus into league play you may be able to challenge for a Champions League position if you keep up the current form.
