Skipper bids farewell for foreign adventure
West Bromwich Albion today announced the sale of club captain Chris Brunt to Bundesliga side Stuttgart, and the Northern Irishman penned a heartfelt letter to fans of the club he played for from 2007 to 2015.
"It's unfortunate that I'm leaving right when the club is moving upwards under a brilliant manager, but it's time for me to look for a new challenge. I could never play for another club in the Premier League, so I hope you all support me in this new chapter of my career," said an excerpt from the letter, available in full on the official club website.
Dorrans departs for Newcastle
The departures continue for West Bromwich Albion, as Scotland international Graham Dorrans completed his transfer to Newcastle United for a fee of £3 million. Dorrans joined in the summer after Chris Brunt, and put in a transfer request midway through last season, but he insists that there is no bad blood between him and the club.
"The manager does what he has to do, and you can see that he knows what he's getting up to. I need to be playing regularly, so it was important for me to make a move if that's what it came to, which it did. I have nothing but respect and love for West Brom and the fans, who supported me throughout all my time at the club," he said.
Yacob sold... to domestic competitor
Claudio Yacob made his much-awaited departure from West Bromwich Albion under potentially damaging circumstances, as it was revealed that the Argentine midfielder lied about the reasons for wanting a move.
Complaining of homesickness and sadness due to the English weather, Yacob and his agent requested a transfer. However, in a twist of fate that is sure to leave West Brom fans seething, it was revealed that Yacob's agent had been in contact with several Premier League sides regarding a move, including heated rivals Aston Villa.
Despite having arranged a move for the Argentine to Serie A club Palermo, Indi Blue was shocked when the player eventually transferred to Everton, who finished one position higher than West Brom last season.
Academy pair to depart on loan
Adil Nabi has joined Yeovil Town on a season-long loan, with the promising striker eager to prove his worth after signing a new contract with West Bromwich Albion in the summer. Joining him in the League One is his fellow academy graduate Donervon Daniels, who joins Doncaster Rovers for the entire season.
West Brom announce dual signing
Gueida Fofana and Stefanos Kapino were unveiled at The Hawthorns yesterday as West Bromwich Albion's latest summer signings. Fofana, who signs from Lyon and will wear number 12, is an all-action midfielder who operates in a box-to-box role. A fluent passer, he is also skilled in tackling and shooting. Kapino, meanwhile, signs from Mainz in Germany as understudy to Ben Foster. The pair cost the Baggies a total of £11.5 million.

A look back at preseason
West Bromwich Albion recently concluded their preseason with a trilateral tournament at The Hawthorns against Cagliari, Werder Bremen, and Bordeaux.
The Baggies opened the tournament with a 2-1 loss to the Italians, with Victor Ibarbo netting a brace in the first half and Saido Berahino grabbing a late consolation goal. Their second game was a 2-0 win over the Germans, with a Stephane Sessegnon brace via a penalty and a free kick. In the final match against the French side, West Brom won 1-0 thanks to a late Victor Anichebe goal.
Baggies look to begin on a high
Still coming to terms with the departure of their captain and their midfield anchor, West Bromwich Albion will want to capitalise on their good form to begin the coming Premier League season on a high. They face off against newly-promoted Nottingham Forest at home, in what promises to be a gripping match.
Despite losing two key players in Jamal Lascelles and Karl Darlow to Newcastle, Forest will look to the talents of Henri Lansbury and Britt Assombalonga for help. Whether they get enough of it is the question to be answered. Meanwhile, West Brom have brought in Gueida Fofana, while James Milner and Bakary Sako will look to hit the ground running after joining on free transfers. The key lies in their defence, and whether new captain Joleon Lescott can inspire his team.
PL: West Brom 2-1 Nott'm Forest
23 Assombalonga
41 Anichebe
59 Anichebe
As predicted, this game offered everything a neutral spectator could ask for. Britt Assombalonga gave the visitors a surprise lead midway through the first half, but Victor Anichebe equalised with a fine shot, before adding a second to seal the win.
Gonzalez signs for West Brom
United States international Omar Gonzalez has signed for West Bromwich Albion from LA Galaxy for a fee in the range of £4 million. The enormous centre back, who spent a brief time on loan in Germany without playing, is set to play a major role in West Brom's coming campaign, in which they seek to qualify for Europe.
PL: Southampton 1-3 West Brom
58 Anichebe
62 Anichebe
64 Pelle
77 Sako
The Baggies continue to impress early in the season, beating Southampton away despite Graziano Pelle's header. Victor Anichebe scored another brace and set up Bakary Sako for the third, as the Baggies made it two wins in two.
Baggies unveil Cvijanovic, Kane
Slovenia international midfielder Goran Cvijanovic has signed for West Bromwich Albion on a free transfer, having been released from his contract with Rijeka. He is joined by right back and Chelsea academy graduate Todd Kane, who also joins West Brom for a relatively low £2.5 million.
PL: West Brom 1-1 Manchester City
40 Anichebe
82 Oscar
West Bromwich Albion dominated the first half, stopping Yaya Toure from finding his rhythm. Victor Anichebe scored his fifth goal in three games, and Oscar equalised to give the visitors a point. James Milner is out for four weeks with a hyper-extended knee.
Lansbury joins, Morrison goes the other way
Henri Lansbury has joined West Bromwich Albion from Nottingham Forest, having impressed Indi Blue during the opening fixture. The fee is thought to be around £3 million, with the deal also including the services of James Morrison, who has found it difficult to get regular games under Indi.
Lansbury is thought to be one of the most promising midfielders England has to offer, with Arsenal likely regretting allowing him to leave. His incredible stamina allows him to operate from box to box, and he will be a valuable asset in the years to come.
Deadline day: Baggies complete marquee signing

West Bromwich Albion fans were left in a very pleasant state of shock today, as the club announced the signing of Xabi Alonso on a one-year contract. Having been pushed to the side of the first team at Bayern Munich, the former Real Madrid midfielder was available for a token fee of £1 million.
"I'm happy to join a club like West Brom, a very ambitious club with a manager who likes to play football the way I play. Once I spoke to the manager, there was no doubt that this is where I wanted to finish my career," said the Basque Country native.
"It's our present to the fans, our way of apologising for what happened with Claudio Yacob. Xabi is a more than capable replacement, and while he may not be as athletic as he was in his prime, he is still one of the most technically gifted midfielders around," said a joint statement from Indi Blue and Jeremy Peace.
Alonso won the World Cup with Spain in 2010, as well as two Euros in 2008 and 2012. He was capped 114 times, scoring 16 goals.
Xabi's physical stats are pretty much useless, but he's still got loads of ability. He's rated 80 or higher in short passing, long passing, vision, ball control, free kick accuracy, curve, penalties, interceptions, long shots, shot power. He's also got 75-79 in crossing, strength, aggression, positioning, and reactions. I got all this for dirt cheap, which is why I adore the new FIFA 15 system of player decline making sense!
