Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
I created a central midfielder for Sydney FC in the Australian A-League, controlling him only. My first season ended prematurely when I was injured in round 23 against local rivals Wanderers of course! Broken elbow out for 2 months, which meant the rest of the season including finalsThe odd thing is that I purposely did NOT save after simming the rest of that match, but after quitting and reloading the save, it still had my player as injured for 2 months even though the same match against the Wanderers had NOT been played yet
Sucked it up and simmed the rest of the season. Melbourne Victory won the league itself comfortably, we came 3rd and lost to the Wanderers in the elimination round. I think Brisbane went on to win the Grand Final. Even my EPL team Aston Villa got relegated in England lol, so not a great end for me personally.
On the plus side I was named Player of the Season (10 goals and 6 assists in 22 games played) and was selected to the India squad for the World Cup! Despite never being selected for a friendly. We got grouped with Argentina, Greece and Norway but are expected to be the tournament's whipping boys.Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
SEASON 1
Team: Arsenal
League: Football League 2
Difficulty: World Class/Orion's Sliders
Objective: Gain Automatic Promotion, Round of 32
Ok, one more time around the block. After dissatisfaction with the Youth Academy and feeling I had skewed results from switching between difficulties and slider settings, I decided to restart my CM with Arsenal in League 2. I have Marking at 50/50 and after reading Matt10's slider thread I'm trying speed at 1/1.
I made the same transfers I made the first go round: brought in Gary Gardner, Yassine Benzia, Jordan Obita, and Jamaal Lascelles. I have a bunch of dead weight transfer and loan listed but haven't gotten any bites yet. As for Arsenal players that will be returning from loan in the spring, I'll do the same thing I did last time which was to just take the budget hit and terminate their contracts.
I simmed the friendlies and played my League opener against Cheltenham. It was only one game but I like the difference that the 1/1 speed made. For User and CPU there wasn't insane closing speed by defending players. If they were close enough to harry you then you'd still get held up. However, if there was a large enough gap in speed between two players and the faster player had a step, the defending player was unable to close the gap very quickly, which is how it should be. For anyone who's frustrated by insane defender closing speeds I suggest you try it out.
The game was pretty tight. I won 3-2 thanks to my ace Yassine Benzia. I went up first early in the game off of a cross from David Templeton to Yassine Benzia, where he beat the defender in front of him for the header. Shortly thereafter the bastards felt like playing blow-for-blow as they scored on a cross that was headed into the bottom corner, which was allowed because Bilel Mohsni didn't feel like contesting the header. In performing a Body Feint in the box the CPU mistimed a tackle, giving me a penalty which I converted. Once again, about 10 mins later one of my players mistimes a tackle in the box, giving them a penalty which they converted. The half ended 2-2 and stayed that way until the 55th minute when badass Benzia Body Feinted a defender on the wing to get into the box (I literally do this move all over the pitch), did a Roulette around a defender in the box, and rifled it into the top corner. I guess the CPU didn't feel it could mimic that so the game ended 3-2.
I bought two 5/5 scouts for the Youth Academy, sent them to Argentina & Brazil looking for Wingers (hoping to just get players with decent pace at any position), and this time I'm going to be ULTRA selective with who I sign. I think I'm going to try not buying players unless I absolutely have to, instead building my team through the academy.XBL GT: The Kingpin187Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
Update on QPR season 3. Objectives get to quarterfinals in euro league high finish and round of 32 domestic cup. So far I'm in knockout stage of euro league and looking good in second leg of semi finals in capital one cup against Man city won first game 5-3 thanks to to goals in the last 3 minute by Viatto. He's a stud so glad I got him. The championship league spot not so good sitting in 20th.
I'm looking for some good solid midfielders around the 5-8 million mark and a good defender anyone have any suggestions on who I should get? I'm wanting to compete in championship but also develop my youth I'm in no hurry to jump up to EPL. Anyways hope ya enjoy my update guysComment

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
After all that drama about Wages, Gibbs declines because he wants time to think about his future.
The media bashed Diego Costa for not scoring in 6 league games. What does he do? Scores 2 against Fullham and then explodes for 4 vs MKD in the round of 16 of Cap 1 Cup.
Currently 7-3-0 in season 2. 2 points behind the spurs. ManU, Man City, and Newcastle are tied in third.
My Team stats:
BPL Goals:
Costa: 6
Giroud: 5
BPL Assists:
Draxler: 4
Cap 1 Cup Goals:
Costa: 4
Giroud: 4
Cap 1 Cup Assists:
Draxler: 3
Champions Cup Goals:
Costa: 2
Champions Cup Assists:
Costa: 2
Walcott: 2
Oxlade: 2
2-1-0 on CC. Group F.
2. Olympique Lyon 2-0-1
3. Fiorentina 0-2-1
4. PAOK 0-1-25Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
kind of been mulling around with career mode until the january window closes so i can start a new one with the updated squads. if only there was an option to start february 1st with the tables how they are IRL. but anyhow, been playing with my United one for a while still. in the 17-18 season now. shuffled up some formations, trying ones i've never used before and found the 3-5-2 to be effective for me, so i stuck with that. team looks like this:
Leno (87)/Muslera (87)
Jones (84)-Varane (86)-Dudgeon (85)
Gundogan (86)- Alaba (92)
Koke (85)-Gotze (91)-Ronaldo (92)
Bale (90)- Reus (88)
Bench:
Rekik (76)
Zaha (84)
Leno/Muslera
Hernandez (85)
Januzaj (83)
Aluko (75)
Sukuta-Pasu (69)/Schulz (71) [both academy players i brought in. rotate them in the bench and starting xi when i feel appropriate]
unfortunately Reus has asked to leave. I marked him to disallow any bids from other teams, but the owners say he must be sold, so i'm expecting a bid for him to automatically be accepted (most likely for well under his value, even though he finished 2nd in the league in scoring with 18 goals as well as 17 assists). probably will end up buying him back, as I love him in this game quite a bit. I have 112 mil sterling to spend with 550k wages/week to waste. most likely going to buy a replacement for Reus, or rotate Zaha/Januzaj. considering even including one of them in a deal for Hazard.
I'm a bit worried about Chelsea this coming season as they were in 2nd until mid march, where they lost 6 in a row, knocking them down the table. they sold a lot of players in january, so we will see what happens. Liverpool oddly enough sold Suarez the very first summer, then just now bought him back. their team is pretty stellar, also snagging neuer to tend the net.
will keep updating... maybe with other CM's as well. will be pretty excited to start a new one with my beloved Bayern when the update is released. Lewandowski was a "surprising" but most welcome addition.
anyhow, cheersComment

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
Ok since I have got my Xbox 1 (when it came out) I can't get a career mode running. Mainly due to the unrealistic transfers (and that I get frustrated when I'm losing) I use the next gen default squad so all the last minute deadline deal in real life are in the game. I do this so the managers that started the season are in the game and it's more realistic. The teams I have played with are Everton (3 or 4 times), Chelsea, Newcastle, Wolves, Ajax (hired from Wolves) and QPR. When ever I want to play with a Premier League or a top league club club which I would pefer to play the transfer in the first window are really unrealistic. Some are realistic like either Dzeko or Benzema going to Arsenal or Lewandowski and/or Suarez Going to Real Madrid. But players like Cech moving away from Chelsea and club captains moving clubs even English players moving to othe counrties (which never happens) e.g Rooney to Barcelona or Bayen. Now thats one problem I also hate how the CPU teams don't buy players to replace the players they sell e.g when Suarez sell Suarez they normally don't buy anyone (they once bought J.Martinez after selling Suarez)
Are there any sliders or options to make my career mode more realistic when it comes to transfers or will I have to deal with it.
PLEASE HELP
Thanks.Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
Team : Nottigham Forrest
Difficulty : Proffesional
Half length : 7 mins
Wow.. Nottingham Forrest might've been the "funniest" team for me to play with.. There's something special about them..
So, coming after not a bad November with "the tricky trees", we won 10pts after 5 games, it's now 21st of December and i really start to make my preparation for the really important for every team January.
But, December couldn't get any harder for us as we had games (so far) against : Tottenham (L 0-1)
Watford (W 3-0)
Reading (W 1-2)
I didn't really expect a win against Tottenham but with hitting the post in that game, and having more shots than Tottenham who were playing with their full starting XI, I feel like we got robbed.. But that didn't stop us in the league - a thrilling victory over Watford which I didn't expect aswell but thanks to Luciano Vietto, everything is possible.
And then the big one - 1st vs 2nd, Reading vs Nott'm Forrest. It was also the first time playing in the snow so it was damn entertaining..
Okay, we took the lead through Vietto and we were just trying not to concede and we were quite successful in that but no one could stop that BOMBASTIC header by Paolo Guererro. So, it was 1-1
Then, aruond the 80th min. i brought Neal Maupay on just because I wanted Vietto to be fit for the next match. And in the 89th minute we had a counter-attack, Maupay with the ball, he made a 30 metre-dribble, cut inside and took a shot. It went in off the post. Man, I was happy..
Whatever, we are still 7 points away from Reading and QPR suprisingly had two horrible months and they still are two points behind us.Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
Just played my second game of the CC vs Olympique Lyon. I took a 1-0 lead in the 28th minute with a Julian Draxler goal assisted by Özil and then sat back most of the game. In the 66th minute Lyon answered back after a frenzy of perfect build ups.
At this point I said whatever, I can play for the tie. At the 85 minute mark I figured It was now or never to play the counter attack as Lyon needed the points and couldn't really afford a draw. I subbed Walcott in at RS for a fatigued Diego Costa, and then let the Ox replace Cazorla at RM.
3 minutes into the sub Ox found himself pacing down the side with a beautiful fake shot, and then cross inside the box for a Walcott bicycle kick. Gooooooal.
We won 2-1. I'm so amped.
Love having a technical team with great speed for subs to dominate the opposition.5Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
if anyone is looking to buy a youngster for a lower level team, buy Josh Gatt from Molde FK. only 69 rated but 79 potential. and a RW/RM/RB. plus he is insanely fast. and i know him IRL too. haha give him a try.
also, what transfer are you most excited to start a new CM with? i'm loving Lewandowski to Bayern.Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
Quick CM question - does it matter when you use a financial takeover? I just unlocked it and want to use it to max out my youth academy scouts. Should I use it in august or does it not matter?
Thanks.Timeetyo

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
For those following my Nottingham Forest career, I've retired it. I won the treble after defeating Real Madrid in the 2017 Champions Cup final. Once the board gave me a good £75 million to spend the next season, I realised I was no longer interested.
Of course, I can't just stop playing altogether, so I toyed around with a few ideas -- turning Schalke or Bayer into the newest super-club, rebuilding Inter or Milan to end Juventus's dominance, a Benfica revival in Europe. I finally settled on two careers: the rebuild of a Milan club, and the task of out-winning Liverpool's five European titles with my club, Chelsea.
Not sure which I want to do first but leaning towards the Serie A just to have a different league and setting. Which would you guys be interested in seeing, and if you choose Serie A, which Milan club do you want to see restored to glory?Comment

personally i like the idea of schalke being turned into a super club. they have some good talent, if they can keep draxler and boateng. would be easy to start off right, by getting Lewandowski in January (unless you start after they release a squad update). but to make it more challenging, only buy young germans/scout germany. i always find that fun. another fun Bundesliga career is to start as Dortmund, but only buy players with the longest/most obnoxiously spelled names and turn them into superstars (it'll be just like it is in real life haha.)
if you do the Milan rebuild, i would say AC Milan, as they are in the dumps right now. not to mention, you already have a solid strike force in Balotelli and El Sharaawy, or however you spell it.Comment
