Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

    Update on Internazionale, season 1

Have I got an update for you folks.

Remember when I said that Inter needed a massive overhaul at the start of the season? Nope. I won the Scudetto undefeated with only Candreva and Criscito on top of the current Inter squad. I finished with a 27-11-0 record (92 points), scoring 81 goals and conceding 22. Palacio finished my top scorer with 25 in the league and 29 in all competitions, while Hamsik had an incredible 27-goal haul to be named Capocannoniere for the 2013/14 season.

I beat Milan in the cup final, a tense 2-1 win that went down to all three goals being scored in the last ten minutes. Palacio opened the scoring before Balotelli equalised, and Kovacic tapped in the winner just before the start of injury time. To make the next season harder, I've adjusted my sliders to give the CPU more of an advantage. Hopefully, we'll have fewer 4-0 blowouts.

Not sure if I mentioned this, but I hired a 5/5 Italian scout who found some excellent Italian midfielders under 18, and they're now developing in my academy.

    Internazionale, season 2

The board was damn proud of me for achieving the double and gave me a massive €40 million in transfer fees and €170,000 in wages to spend.

With several of my older players retiring or leaving the club as free agents, the clearout began. Matuidi arrived as expected, and I immediately went out and spent €6 million on Montoya, whose contract with Barcelona was due to expire at the end of the 2014/15 season. With the gap at RB plugged, my next focus was on selling as many of my unwanted players as possible.

Juan Jesus, who asked to leave the club at the end of the previous season, moved to Fiorentina for a whopping €19 million. Dortmund came in for Handanovic with an offer of €18 million; I didn't plan on selling him, but the money was too good to refuse. With the €22.2 million I got from the board from those sales, I bought Loic Perrin from Saint-Etienne for €7 million and Tim Krul from Newcastle for €6.4 million.

Next came the massive clearout. Palacio went to Fulham for €7 million, Joel Obi to Torino for €2.4 million, Pereira to Toulouse for €3 million, Longo and Paramatti to Empoli and Pescara for free, Nagatomo to Lazio for €4 million, Jonathan to Real Sociedad for €4.8 million, Carrizo to Elche for €1.5 million, and Alvarez to Athletic Bilbao for €9.5 million.

Thankfully, I had a bunch of players coming back from loan. I let the assistant manager form a temporary setup for the three friendlies (4-0 win vs. Augsburg, 2-1 loss to Elche, 6-0 demolition of Sunderland). During this time, I was busy selling players and trying to convince Kagawa to come to Italy after agreeing a €25 million fee with United. Unfortunately, he didn't want to leave his club. I simulated the Supercoppa against Milan, which ended 3-3 in extra time and 5-4 in my favour after penalties.

With the huge gap between the Supercoppa and my first game (on deadline day), I focused on bringing players in. Spurs refused my first offer of €20 million and Kovacic for Christian Eriksen. After some negotiation, we agreed a straight fee of €34 million. Pescara came in for Marco Benassi on loan, and Liverpool took Ishak Belfodil for the season. In need of another striker, I paid Southampton €12 million for Dani Osvaldo.

I paid Chelsea €10 million plus Kovacic to secure the services of Thorgan Hazard, who now wears number 17 for Inter as Eden does for the Blues. Roma claimed they wouldn't sell Alessio Romagnoli to me, but they were more than happy when I offered €5 million (a good investment, I think). I also needed to replace Guarin with a more defensive midfielder, so I offered him to Lyon for Maxime Gonalons. They asked for €2 million to be thrown in, and I agreed. I also wanted to get Campagnaro off my wage bill (€110,000!), so I swapped him and €2.5 million for Ibrahima Mbaye of Livorno (who's supposed to be on loan from Inter, but is programmed as their player).

In the end, I made about €65 million worth of sales (receiving 60% of that from the board) and spent more than €80 million. The season opener against Chievo was a 4-1 away win with debut goals for Osvaldo and Eriksen (brace), plus one from Taider. My Champions Cup group opponents are Arsenal, Braga, Sevilla... tough, but I should definitely make it through.

This is my squad as of September 1:

    GK Krul
    RB Montoya
    RCB Perrin (c)
    LCB Ranocchia
    LB Criscito
    RDM Gonalons
    LDM Matuidi
    RAM Candreva
    CAM T. Hazard
    LAM Eriksen
    ST Osvaldo

Bench: GK Belec, CB Andreolli, RB Wallace, CDM Kuzmanovic, CM Taider, RW Miyaichi, ST Icardi

Reserve: GK Bardi, CB Romagnoli, LB Mbaye, CM Laxalt

I'll start Belec in cup games and Bardi against weaker Serie A teams, and one of the two in European competition once I've qualified for the last 16.

Andreolli will rotate with the first-choice central defenders. Romagnoli will make at least 15 appearances with a minimum of five starts; this also applies to the substitute full-backs.

Kuzmanovic will rotate with the defensive midfield pivot; Taider will step in when required, but his main job is to join Miyaichi in rotating into attacking midfield. Laxalt will play where required, though primarily as cover at wide CAM, and make at least 15 appearances with a minimum of five starts.

Osvaldo and Icardi will each get a five-game run in Serie A/Europe to begin with, and whoever scores and creates more in those five will be my first-choice striker. If either gets injured, I recall Belfodil from Liverpool.

Its kinda like beggers cant be choosers.... You want to play an exciting match, but don't wanna play long enough to let that build up.

I could care less how long of match you play, but to complain about the game being boring blah blah, and then saying you cant play 10 minute halves, just doesn't make much sense to me at all....

You ever wonder why most sliders are 15 minutes? I wonder......
How about some constructive response or no response at all. Throughout the forum, all you ever do is rip on folks for asking about how to make the game more exciting for them. Obviously you care about how long people play their halves because that is all you ever talk about. 15 minute halves this, 15 minute halves that. Freaking broken record. People come here with legit question and want an answer or suggestion, not some snarky response.

As to the original question. I used to play 10 minute halves but found the games took too long. I don't have the time to play 3 or 4 games a night with 10 minute halves, and for me the most exciting part of CM is using the youth academy and progressing 10-15 seasons. I have found using 6 minute halves makes for an exciting game that doesn't take too long. To me, the shortened amount of time makes the games very tense. You really have to make the most of your opportunities. Yeah, sometimes it means you completely dominate a game and lose on one lucky counter by the CPU, but that happens in real life as well.

Using sliders? Legendary plays through ball and crossing all the time, World Class is too easy.
6 minutes makes me play more, most of times I play 3 matches simulate the rest but know I think this time it should work, just need to set the dificulty with sliders, controller settings and if I'm going to use the first January transfer or not.
About the Youth Squad I agree, is really the most fun part about CM, this reason is why I was looking for some way to make shorter and exciting games.
        Thanks for the answer, mate

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

kind of dropping my BVB career for now. getting a slight bit bored with it. It lost the magic, per say. Starting one with the almighty Bayern!

Needless to say, i will be buying Lewandowski in the window in January (if he doesn't already come to the team). I plan on mainly building up recruits through the youth academy, hopefully getting the next Lahm, or Schweinsteiger. I plan on playing a lot more games this time around as well. Usually only play 5 games max per season. will definitely be increasing that number. I will also try to play and replicate the injuries that Bayern currently have IRL.... so that means no Schweinsteiger or Badstuber til January. No Gotze until October either. hopefully they don't get too mad about playing time.

My main goal is to replicate their form, and defend the treble. hopefully I can, shouldn't be too hard since they have a fantastic squad to start with. Plenty of depth everywhere to make a run in all the competitions. My only tricky part is going to be in a couple seasons, when Ribery and Robben start getting older, and younger players can challenge them properly.

I think in January, I will also sell Thiago, as I really don't like him much, and that will give room for the rest of the midfield to breathe a bit more. That is, unless he impresses majorly. So we shall see.

          MIA SAN MIA!

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

I hit a major slump in my second year with Piast Gilwice, getting bogged down mid-table and losing in the first round of the Polish Cup (shameful). We also got absolutely destroyed in the Euro league group stage.

Somehow I managed to put some wins together and get the team in line for a 2nd or 3rd place finish. However, Belgium's Club Brugge came along with a job offer!

I've got the team in 2nd place nearing the end of the season, but RSC Anderlecht has a big lead and I don't see myself catching up. Management expects me to win the league. WTF?

In my experience, you probably won't get fired for it. Plenty of times I don't win the league with whatever team I am and don't get fired. If the game is anything like real life, you will have at least til the next January to turn it around. Seeing as Brugge and Anderlecht are really the only two teams that are decent, it shouldn't be a problem. Just save money up and make sure you bring in a few good players on loan/purchase.

Well this works out even better: I managed to win the league! I was two points behind Anderlecht on the final game of the season and won my game 2-1, while they got hammered 3-1 by another team.

                  I'm still stunned.

Edit: Apparently I came in third during the regular season but I won the championship playoff. My career page gives me credit for a league title but in my post-season eval they said I didn't complete my objective.

I've never played in the Pro League before so this is a little confusing.

Would anyone who plays on xbox be kind enough to gift me a financial takeover? I would really appreciate it because I accidentally wasted mine because I didn't know how it worked and had never used one before. If you gift me a financial takeover I will gift back anything level 14 and under. I would really be grateful gamertag is the same as my name on the forum.

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

After my A.S Roma Career Mode, I decided to star an Inter Milan CM and it's been pretty fun.

                          Season 1:

I basically built a new team. Got rid of the oldest players and got some much needed young blood into it.

I started by deciding that Icardi would be my main Striker, so I loaned Belfodil to West Ham. I got Lanzini from River Plate for about 10 millions and managed to make a deal with Barcelona for Christian Tello for 7 millions plus Cambiasso. Got Marcos Rojo from Sporting CP and Jeremy Menez from PSG. Got rid of Palacio and Alvarez. Also managed to make a clean trade with Milan: Diego Milito for Pazzini. Also got Romulo from Spartak Moscow.

Also got Gnabry on loan with a buy clause of..... 0! Weird stuff.

                          Team Line-up (4-2-3-1):
                          GK: Handanovic
                          RB: Jonathan
                          RCB: Ranocchia
                          LCB: Juan Jesus
                          LB: Nagatomo (Santon after Winter)
                          CM: Romulo
                          CM: Guarin
                          RAM: Tello
                          CAM: Menez/ Botta
                          LAM: Lanzini
                          ST: Icardi

I won the Serie A, with no defeats. Icardi was topscorer with 32 goals! Ruben Botta was a fantastic surprise, he and Menez were very important in my season.
During Winter season, I got Davide Santon from Newcastle and Luciano Vietto from Racing Club and sold Pazzini to Sociedad. I also managed to get to make the following deals: Musacchio from Villareal, Ekdal from Cagliari, Stoch from PAOK all for free for the next season.

I also won the Italy Cup.

                          Season 2:

It started with Guarin saying he wanted to leave because he was missing home so he left for Liverpool (lol). I got Kucka from Genoa in order to replace him for 7.5 millions. I got Salah from Basel for 5 millions plus Tello (wasnt very pleased with him). Ranocchia was very good last season but his awful stamina was always a problem and he was already 26 if not mistaken, so I used him and some money to land Inigo Martinez.

Out of nowhere, Handanovic wanted to leave as well and this close to the end of transfers season so I used him to get Courtois from Chelsea. I loaned Vietto to Bilbao and got Bas Dost from Wolfsburg.

                          Team Line-up (4-2-3-1):

                          GK: Courtois
                          RB: Jonathan
                          RCB: Inigo Martinez / Musacchio
                          LCB: Juan Jesus
                          LB: Santon
                          CM: Ekdal
                          CM: Kucka
                          RAM: Stoch
                          CAM: Botta / Menez
                          LAM: Lanzini
                          ST: Icardi.

Already won Italian Supercup against Milan 2-0 and currently won all 4 matches in Serie A, including beating Napli 2-1. Also beat Basel away 0-1 with a goal from.... Salah lol. Ironic. I have a pretty tough group, with Chelsea, AS Monaco and FC Basel. Funny how I will have to play Handanovic and Tello right after I sold them haha.

I just got the game last month for Christmas (was still playing FIFA 13 at the time). I lost the first four games because of how brutal playing on professional difficulty was. It was nothing like FIFA 13 and seemed so much harder this time around. Switched it down to semi-pro and won nearly all my games after that with huge leads.

Right now, I'm in the January transfer window and I'm 14-4-1. I want to keep going with this team until season 3 or 4 and then try to get a manager job with Tottenham. After the first season I'll go back to playing professional or world class and mess with the sliders.

I've never played in the Pro League before so this is a little confusing.
I believe that somewhere it says that even though you may win the league, obtaining it through playoff contention might not be enough to satisfy the requirement. so while you technically won the league, you still have to finish in first place to achieve the objective. It seems as though that objective was programmed for leagues that don't have a playoff, like the EPL (majority of leagues are like this), so it just carries over to every league. might be wrong though.
