Aston Villa sounds like a nice choice. playing with a lower midtable team with a strict board and a challenging enough difficulty it could be really fun. I started one with cardiff (before daehli, zaha, and fabio) and finished 12th my first season and it felt like such an accomplishment considering i was in relegation zone almost all season. When i benched Jordan Mutch i started winning games. then when i put him into a deeper role with Berisha as the CAM we flourished all the way to 12th. Starting season 2 will be doing quarterly updates. Good luck with whoever you choose. Benteke IMO is a great player to build around.

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

Everything finally clicks in my second year with Club Brugge (Belgium). It's a tight race with RSC Anderlecht all season and I manage to win the league, the championship playoffs, and the Belgian Cup - dismantling Anderlecht 3-0 in the final.

Entering year three my team is in great shape, but there are some tempting job openings in Germany. Could be time to move on.

I'm not even gonna read anything from earlier. Sorry if I offended anyone, or made anyone mad, defiantly not my intentions... not first time I have been called a smart***... Im not here to argue, i apologize.

          Team: Orlando City (3 Star)
          League: MLS (Chili Petrogas)
Difficulty: Goniras Sliders, Legendary, 15 Min Halves, All Manual, NO SIMMING
Objective: Make A Run For The Playoffs (Top 8 In Apertura and Cluasura)
Record: 3/2/0 2nd Place in Apertura

Here is a quick backdrop. Added 18 teams from MLS to Chile League, dropped Chivas & San Jose, added Orlando City.

Added the top Chili teams into the Columbian league, replacing lower level sides.

Wanted to Create the best set up for the South American Champions Cup.
3 teams from MLS, 3 from Columbia, 4 from Brasil, 4 from Argentina, 2 from Mexico.

Update After Round 5 of 17 In Apertura
          Home/Away
          DC United 0 - 0 Orlando City
          Orlando City 1 - 0 LA Galaxy
          Houston 0 - 0 Orlando City
          Orlando City 6 - 3 Dallas
          New York 1 - 4 Orlando City

wow its been a great start to the year. We have been playing pretty good defense besides the 3 goals we gave up to Dallas, back up keeper still made team of the weak after giving up 3. haha Adryan has been everything we wanted and more! 3 goals & 3 assist after 5 matches. Leading the league in assist with Adryan also. Also Marvias won player of the month at RAM, didn't necessarily think he was the best player on my time, but i'll take it. haha

          Upcoming Matches
          vs Montreal
          @ Columbus
          vs Real Salt Lake
          @ Toronto
          @ Philadelphia

Our goal will be 11 points and hopefully if we can obtain that form through the next 5 games it might put us into the top spot and def lock up a playoff spot for us.

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

so after a bit of deliberation, I decided to do a Schalke 04 career after the updates all went through. My main goal is to compete with Bayern, and overthrow them as the top team in the league by year 3, and also become the top world team by year 5. I currently have a small budget, but I added the Champions League first season, so I would get an extra 11 mil Euros if I qualified for the later stages (which I did).

After simming until January, I stand 2nd in the Bundesliga, with 37 points. Bayern has 37, with a game in hand though. BVB sits right below me with 34 points. I am also in the Deutscher Pokal quarter's. I knocked out Bayern in the round of 16 on a delightful Draxler FK. My matchup for the quarter's is against Hamburg. shouldn't be too demanding.

As soon as I hit January, I had 3 offers for Draxler (PSG, Chelsea, and Juve). I declined them all as I am intending to build my team around him, and will do anything to keep him around. I also did a swap deal for Lamela. I sent Farfan and 6 mil over to Tottenham. Farfan just doesn't seem to fit in my plans, not to mention that he is also aging quickly, and Lamela is a speedy winger who fits my plans perfectly. I also signed Jetro Willems for 4.8 mil to mold into my defense. He is going to be the perfect player to bring in. He can already start if needed, but will most likely play a role off the bench for the remainder of this season. I also brought in Joshua Gatt to help cover the entire right side. He can play anywhere there and is insanely fast. I acquired him for 1.4 mil.

My plans for next summer are to acquire a new keeper to be my start, as I am lacking good quality, and need to get my plan in motion asap. I also will plan on bringing in a someone who can play at least 2 defensive positions. As versatile as KP Boateng is, I don't really intend to use him in my plans, as he doesn't have the best quality that I am looking for. I intend to use him until I can find a replacement through the Youth Academy or bring in a good CAM. I am considering Kagawa at the moment, although he might be a bit pricey.

Thats all for now guys! Any comments and suggestions for who to sign are welcome!

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

so! I simmed to the end of the season. I won the Bundesliga by 7 points over Bayern! I looked back and saw they had a major crash losing 3-4 in a row. I also won the Deutscher Pokal 3-2 over Hannover. I got smoked in the CL quarter's by Real Madrid (8-2 aggregate)....

I am completely surprised I won two trophies as Farhmann went down, the next match, Hildebrand also got injured (both were out until July). I had to promote a promising youth keeper, Alexander Zuck. He came in at 59 overall, with 80-90 potential.

I also have the next Phillip Lahm in my team now (not regen). Kevin Wolf, the young RB, got promoted immediately after the 5/1 update as he was 16 and would have requested to join the senior team before the next bump. I plan on starting him at RB for the season and hopefully he will grow into a fantastic player. He is 66 overall, with 89-94 potential (1* weak foot unfortunately, but can play RB/LB).

              JULY, 2014

To move forward with my plan, I straight swapped KP Boateng for Maher. Maher is significantly younger and will also grow to be a better player. I let Boateng go while he still had decent value. Uchida also left for Stuttgart. Bayern bought Benzema and are linked to Cavani. I definitely need to bolster my team if they sign Cavani as well. I feel as though I am level with BVB at the moment, but Bayern is still far away. I only won the league on a fluke, imho.

BVB bought Gomez (lol seriously). Bayern also just brought in Aguero. I brought in Diego Costa, by trading Huntelaar and cash. Hunter was the top scorer last season, but he is losing overall (83 now), but in excellent form. I will dump him while he has good value. I feel as though I got a good deal by signing Costa. Young, and can score goals like crazy. Plus he is a step up from Huntelaar.

This is how my team will look:

              Fahrmann

              Wolf - Howedes - Papadopoulos - Willems

              Neustadter - Hoger

              Lamela - Maher - Draxler

              Costa

              Bench:

              Unnerstall
              Matip
              Barnetta
              Jirchoff
              Meyer
              Szalai
              Felipe Santana

              hoping for a good season!!

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

                Update:
After playing a season I managed to remain in the league and actually qualified for the round of 16 in CL. I brought in Phala, Nthehte, Hyun Soo, and Abdel-Shafy from free agents to help bolster my defense and obviously add a quality pacey winger (Phala). Unfortunately I lost Ball and Evans in the January transfer window because they demanded a transfer and the board forced the sales. This seasons budget is still a meager $1.5 Million, but Josh and Jacob Murphy have less than a season left on their contracts and I will try to sign them at the end of their contracts. Ill post another update soonish.

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

                  Genoa update:

in my 4th season, we ended up finishing 5th. Board wanted me to qualify for Champions League, but they were still happy with a Euro League spot.

I signed a promising GK from Scotland from my youth squad. Pot 90-94 and his overall was 73. I'm going to start him right away, since Perin (75ovr) has not progressed any this season.
Gilardino retired, so Couto (youth academy player) is going to take his spot. His overall is 76 and he did a good job as a sub this past season.

I'm aiming for a top 3 finish nxt season and at least a quarter final spot in Euro League

Started up a MM with Athletic Bilbao using their strict transfer policy and investing heavily in their youth system. Got out of the gates very slow but have started to pick it up a little bit after beating 2nd place Valencia. The goal is to obtain a Euro League finish so I'll need to start picking up points soon. Been using Borussia Dortmund and eventually got bored with how easy it was.

I've only ever played on Semi-Pro and finally decided to bump it up to Pro, so I've been trying my hand in other tournaments and practicing through that way - rather than jeopardising my career mode! Going to return to CM once I feel I'm up to scratch.

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

                        SCHALKE 04 UPDATE!!!

January 2015 has officially ended. There was some big news for S04 this January. I managed to land a promising Junior Malanda from Wolfsburg for 9 mil + Neustadter. I also made a huge move towards the future by signing Oscar on a free move. That is huge for me. I have a feeling Maher/Meyer will be moving to a backup winger role/cover for Oscar. Now that I have my world class CAM lined up for next season, I desperately need to focus on my defense in the summer. Howedes is playing wonderfully (85 overall now). Papadopoulos/ Matip are decent, but not consistent enough for me. My LB and RB are weak (going through growing pains with them atm). Willems is a 74 overall, and is showing signs of promise. Wolf, my first youth academy signing is showing promise, but has been hampered by injuries most of the season, leaving him with almost no growth at 67 overall. I really want to continue giving them both playing time, but I am worried about the amount of goals being conceded against weaker teams. I think it may come down significantly less starting time for each, which would be unfortunate.

I am currently 4th in the table, behind BVB, Bayer 04, and Bayern, in that order. I had a dismal run of form right before January and lost 2 in a row, going 5 without a win. Although the gap to Stuttgart is essentially the grand canyon, I am still worried about my team's form. May be time to switch up some players, and I will be threatening with less playing time for those who underperform.

I qualified out of my group in a dramatic loss to ManU. Backwards, I know, but I was down 2-0 and was out of a qualification spot on goal difference (Inter was holding it) until I scored a 90+ minute free kick from Lamela. I stood up out of the chair yelling, I was so pumped. For a loss, I know, but the goal was enough to advance me. That ended up giving me the necessary cash to beef up my squad. I have noticed that I am relying very heavily on the influx of CL money to get through the January window. I usually have 2 mil MAX left to spend by the time January rolls around, then I get my wonderful Christmas gift. haha

well cheers for now! please enjoy keeping up! I am thinking of doing a spreadsheet for my next career (which will be Bayern... again. love them ), which will be significantly more in depth and will be posted here.

                        Cheers!

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

After getting Bristol City promoted to the Championship and having them in 8th place by the time January rolled around, the future seemed bright in the West Country.

But the second half of the season proved a tough slog. I didn't have any money to improve the squad and results started to slip. The lineup was frequently chopped and changed and admittedly I was running out of ideas. That coupled with an overnight change into route one football in an effort to steal results and local boy Joe Bryan deciding he wanted out at the end of the season saw me falling out of love with the game. Despite keeping them up (barely), I was told to clean out my desk as my time at Ashton Gate was up. I wasn't going to argue, and so we parted ways.

Heading into the summer looking for employment, I was hoping to carry on managing in England. Three championship clubs were looking for a gaffer; Ipswich Town, Peterborough United and Barnsley.

Peterborough were ruled out straight away. I've met Barry Fry before and have no wish to work with him. That left Ipswich and Barnsley, both giving me the objective to simply avoid relegation, but with Ipswich prepared to substantially back me in the Transfer window. The chance to take over at Portman Road and be allowed to mould my own team with adequate financial backing made it an easy decision.

The squad I inherited from my predecessor looked strong enough to avoid relegation, especially with the arrival of Burnley's top scorer from last season, Sam Vokes, on a free transfer. Despite that, there were noticeable weak spots, most notably in central midfield, where there was a lack of depth, and left back, where current incumbents Tyrone Mings and David October were both deemed not good enough.

Working with the biggest budget I'd ever known, a £5m war chest, I immediately used a significant portion to lure Callum Wilson away from newly promoted Coventry, with the 23 year old striker costing me £1.4m. The next few weeks of the transfer window would be quiet, with 20 Y/O CM Amir Berkane being sold to Torquay, and 19 Y/O GK Nathan Wallace joining Port Vale on a season long-loan. However, CM Luke Hyam and CB Tommy Smith both signed new four-year deals, securing an important part of the team's core.

But as the season drew nearer, I finally captured left back Oluwafemi Ilesanmi from Dagenham & Redbridge, costing me £625K. He would soon be joined by South African international Bongani Khumalo, after a £275K fee was agreed with Tottenham, and former Everton starlet Jose Baxter, who joined up from Sheffield United, with striker Guillermo Madrigal and cash going the other way. That would see my side set for the start of the season, after I offloaded Mark Timlin and Jack Marriott, both to Wycombe Wanderers.

My new look Ipswich side would struggle for consistency early on. A 1-0 victory over Millwall in the first game of the season, thanks to a debut goal by Sam Vokes, and a 2-0 victory over Wolves were highlights of a month that also saw defeats at the hands of Crystal Palace and Watford.

September brought my first meeting with Bristol City since leaving them at the end of last season. A Tommy Smith header gave me all three points in a 1-0 victory, with the captain's goal putting us on the periphery of the playoffs. It would prove to be Smith's last game for the club.

Shortly after, the New Zealander told me was homesick and wanted to leave the club in January, despite signing a new contract just two months ago. I decided not to stand in his way, but refused to play him.

Left without a definite captain, and Bongani Khumalo without his trusted partner in the center of defense, October saw the Tractor Boys go winless, including a 4-0 loss to Bolton. But as winter drew nearer, performances started to improve and I knew the results would soon follow. Frederic Veseli established himself alongside Khumalo in the center of defense, and after a year that had seen a lot of upheaval, a 4-1 win over Wigan on boxing day showed the promise that could lie ahead.

January rolled around and Tommy Smith was finally allowed to leave. His "homesick" act proved to be just that, as he moved just four hours up the M1 to join Sunderland. Luckily, the length left on his contract allowed me to play hardball with Sunderland, making them eventually cough up £1.5m, giving me more money to use when paired with the left-overs from the summer.

After scouting Coventry's Stuart Urquhart, I knew enough to believe he would be the next Tommy Smith, and Wolves midfielder David Davis agreed to join at the end of the season when his contract expired. Osasuna starlet Ricardo Matos dos Santos joined on loan deal, with the option to make it permament at the end of the season. The rest of the month would also see Neil Danns, Jack Payne and Jonson Clarke Harris all join up from Leicester, Peterborough and Oldham respectively, as well as the departures of Daryl Murphy to Coventry, Eduardo Vilches to Exeter and Paul Taylor, who returned to Peterborough as part of the Jack Payne deal.

This leaves my current squad looking like this (Age/Ovr):

GK: Dean Gerken (30/67) Michael Crowe (20/56)

RB: Kyle Hammond (20/60) Elliott Hewitt (21/68)

CB: Christophe Berra (31/66) Luke Chambers (30/68) Bongani Khumalo (30/68) Stuart Urquhart (20/65) Frederic Veseli (23/67)

LB : Oluwafemi Ilesanmi (24/68) Ricardo Matos dos Santos (17/56) Tryone Mings (22/60) David October (21/59)

CDM: Hosam Al Harthi (23/63) Jack Payne (24/68)

RM/RW: Blair Jones (16/50) Dean Rowe (16/51) Connor Ventre (16/51)

CM: Neil Danns (33/60) Luke Hyam (24/73) Cole Skuse (29/68) Jay Tabb (31/66) Anthony Wordsworth (27/65)

LM/LW: Zubair Al Dossari (16/49) Paul Anderson (27/69) Jordan Adekunle (20/61) Jack Doherty (21/60)

                          CAM: Jose Baxter (24/71)

ST: Jonson Clarke Harris (21/60) David McGoldrick (28/69) Sam Vokes (26/69) Callum Wilson (23/73) Tom Winter (21/55)

                          --

My squad at the minute is a little big for my liking, with 34 players. However, a few players will be leaving at the end of the season and I'm likely to cancel the contracts of a few youth players who won't make the grade.

                          Our current lineup, a 4-3-1-2:

                          GK: Dean Gerken

                          RB: Kyle Hammond
                          CB: Bongani Khumalo
                          CB: Frederic Veseli
                          LB: Oluwafemi Ilesanmi

                          RCM: Luke Hyam
                          CM: Jack Payne
                          LCM: Anthony Wordsworth

                          CAM: Jose Baxter

                          ST: Callum Wilson
                          ST: Sam Vokes

                          Bench:

                          GK: Michael Crowe
                          CB: Stuart Urquhart
                          LB: Ricardo Matos Dos Santos
                          CM: Neil Danns
                          ST: David McGoldrick
                          ST: Jonson Clarke-Harris
                          LW: Jordan Adekunle

Really enjoying this at the minute. Onwards and upwards!

Just lost to Bayern 2-1 in the final round of the Champions Cup.

                            Götze - Goal (39')
                            Costa - Goal (45')
                            Javi Martinez - Goal (89')

                            This one hurts. -.-;

Well, here's to the off season.

Well after many restarts I did another career lol. This time I'm in ligue 1 VAFC. I chose French league because the teams don't seem to be good in Europe and the league seems weak so I'm wanting to build it up and make it into a strong league like the English system or Germany. I will give you guys update soon
