Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
Hellas Verona
Spoiler
Transfers In
Sebastian Cristoforo
69 Ovr, Defensive Midfielder, 21 Years Old, Uruguay
Season Loan With a Buy Option
SpoilerThe Uruguayan holding midfielder Sebastian Cristoforo was the first signing Simeone Corleone made in his new job as Hellas Verona's manager. The young and talented midfielder will spend only a season in Italy but he can be bought at the end of the season for under two million euros.
Federico Bernardeschi
70 Ovr, Right Winger, 20 Years Old, Italy
Season Loan With a Buy Option
Hellas Verona managed to sign another young and talented player in this summer and this time it was Fiorentina's skillful winger Federico Bernardeschi. Like Cristoforo, Bernardeschi will spend a season with Verona and if the manager likes him he will be signed permanently for a few million euros. The young winger has a bright future ahead of him and he's expected to be the next big Italian winger with the likes of El Shaarawy and Domenico Berardi.
Nicola Murru
68 Ovr, Left Back, 19 Years Old, Italy
Season Loan With a Buy Option
The third and final young loanee signed by Corleone was the high-potential left back Nicola Murru from Cagliari. The youngster was signed on a season long loan with an option to buy him at the end of the spell. Murru will have to fight for playing time because Davide Brivio is ahead of him in the playing order.
Samuele Longo
69 Ovr, Striker, 22 Years Old, Italy
€1,200,000
One of the two permanent signings made by Hellas Verona was buying the young Italian striker Samuele Longo from Cagliari for a cheap fee of just over one million euros. Longo, who used to play for Inter Milan, will now need to work hard for playing time because there are four strikers ahead of him in playing order.
Connor Wickham
72 Ovr, Striker, 21 Years Old, England
€2,200,000
The second permanent deal and the last signing of the summer for Hellas Verona was buying the Englishman Connor Wickham from Sunderland for a fee of just over two million. Wickham, who is one of the most talented future strikers for the national team, was given permission to leave for an unknown reason. The 21-year-old will be the third or fourth choice striker after Luca Toni, Nico Lopez and maybe Javier Saviola.
Transfers Out
Alessandro Agostini, €140,000 to Parma
August 2014
Hellas Verona 4 - 1 Perugia, TIM Cup Round of 32
Toni 45', 76' pen, Bernardeschi 90', Saviola 90'
Falcinelli 45'
Atalanta 1 - 1 Hellas Verona

Luna 71 - Marquez 76 - Moras 72 - Brivio 72
Christodoulopoulos 72 - Obbadi 72 - Hallfredsson 73 - Juanito Gomez 72

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
I love the signings, this career mode definitely seems like it's going to be much more of a road to glory type with it taking time to really build this team up into a contender. Just looking at the starting lineup, there's okay first XI but definitely a lot of work to do. An interesting thing I noticed, pretty much every team (for the most part) in Italy plays the 3-5-2... any reason that you elected to go 4-4-2?Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
Season 1 | 2014-15
SpoilerWhat is squad sponsorship?
Just in case anyone missed my earlier post, here's how this works. Everyone picks a player from the squad below to sponsor, and certain events and achievements in the game performed by that player earn the sponsor a certain number of points (mentioned below the squad). Reserving a player basically works like dibs; if you're first to name him, he's yours for the season. Once you choose a player, nobody else can sponsor him. You're also stuck with him unless he leaves the club in January or sustains an injury that ends his season. In either situation, you can change players OR take a flat bonus ― 1,000 points in case of a transfer and 150 per month until June in case of a season-ending injury.
How does my player earn me points?
The primary method of winning points is having your player score a goal, register an assist, or help keep a clean sheet. Any cards your player is shown will result in point deductions, with different values for yellow and red cards. Other than those, there are a few other ways to win extra points, usually through consistency and leadership.
Be clinical. Goals are the lifeblood of any team's success, but some players are more likely to score than others, so each goal your player bags will win you points based on his position. Remember, goals scored directly from free kicks count double!
• 25 points for a forward
• 40 for a midfielder
• 60 for a defender
• 100 for a goalkeeper
Look for the pass. Sometimes, it takes a killer pass to put a man in a position to score. Assists are a crucial stat, as an assist for one player means a goal for another. Each time your player plays a quality ball that results in a goal, you benefit.
• 15 points for a forward
• 20 for a midfielder
• 40 for a defender
• 80 for a goalkeeper
Be the brick wall. Sometimes, you just need to keep your opponent from scoring. The best managers know that titles are won at the back, and without a good defensive shape, you're not likely to win enough games to make a difference.
• 0 points for a forward
• 15 for a midfielder
• 35 for a defender
• 50 for a goalkeeper
Maintain discipline. Proper behaviour on the pitch means more time to get naughty with the ladies off it. Stupid, reckless, malicious tackles will not only see you subbed off or suspended. The manager might just decide to drop you to the bench, or worse.
• -20 points per yellow
• -60 per red
Look to the leader. The captain is the backbone of the team. When the players are out on the pitch, he's the manager's eyes, ears and voice. As such, the captain must meet certain responsibilities. He is therefore privy to certain benefits and subject to some penalties (values for vice-captain in brackets).
• +20 [10] points per goal/assist
• -120 [90] per red card (double deduction)
• -500 [250] for discontent/transfer request outside transfer window
Be the best. Being as good as possible should be every player's goal when they go out to play. Whether that's by scoring a hat-trick or passing with laser precision, the key is consistency.
• +50 points for Man of the Match
• +100 for Player of the Month
• +100 for Team of the Year
• +200 for Player of the Year
Excellence comes in many forms. That's why it's important to be consistent as well as talented. Work hard every game, and you'll be chosen ahead of every world-class player as lazy as an Italian on Merseyside.
• +300 points for 30 or more appearances (win the league)
• +200 for 30 or more appearances (qualify for Champions League)
• +100 for 30 or more appearances (qualify for Europa League)
Everyone deserves something extra. Because nothing ever happens with just 11 men, all players are entitled to an end-of-season bonus based on their performances and number of appearances.
• (Average rating x100) + (Total appearances x5)
K. Anything else, or can we pick players?
Needless to say, whichever of you has the most points at the end of the season wins. What's in it for that person? You'll get bragging rights, and you'll also be my assistant scout for the following summer window. Okay, maybe you don't really care, but this sh*t seems fun as hell, yeah? With that out of the way, on we go to the squad. Players marked with an asterisk are first team or tactical, and those without are for rotation or the reserves.

I decided to go with the 4-4-2 because I want to play with two strikers, a few midfielders and four defenders. Verona have good midfielders and I want to use them a lot. Also, I'm not that good with three-at-the-back.-Simppu12-

Indi, I will be sponsoring Paolo De Ceglie. I don't know, it just feels right. I feel this guy will have a good season in your 5-2-3 system. You said he'd be a wingback right?

I took the other winger. I feel like either me, Simp or moose will have a bad deal. Oliviera has obviously been signed but Belfoldil stats. I can see Indi going with both of them ahead of Biabiany but if he doesn't, Simp or moose are screwed. I was thinking about him but he was third choice behind Biab and Paletta.Comment

Man United Super League Update
Darren Fletcher departs to Hull for €3,500,000.
Bourissa Dortmund 2-1 Man United: Match Report:
It was a tough first game for United, and a tough stadium to visit.
Marco Varretti and Neven Subotic both made their debuts, but could do nothing to stop the first goal. A brilliant ball in from Gundogun put Ciro Immobile through on goal, to make it 1-0 Dortmund. The second was from Marco Rues. Another counter attack left Marco Rues with a simple tap-in. Substitute Adnan Januzaj scored a brilliant solo goal, beating three Dortmund players before finishing with ease.
Final score: Bourissa Dortmund 2-1 Man United.
MOTM: Ciro Immobile
Adrian Rabiot joins from PSG for €5,000,000. 5 year deal.
Man United 1-0 Barcelona: Match Report:
Man United dominated the game and it could have been 2 or 3-0. They were always comfortable, and never looked like conceding. Wayne Rooney with the opening goal in the 43rd minute. A concern for United as Radamal Falcao had to replaced with injury in the second half, Robin van Persie came on. Rooney and Varretti each hit the post, and United deserved more goals. Adrian Rabiot came on for his debut, and preformed brilliantly. In the last minute Neymar got sent off for a second bookable offence. Final score: Man United 1-0 Barcelona.
MOTM: Wayne Rooney
Radamal Falcao out for 3 weeks.
Ashley Young moves back to Aston Villa for €8,500,000.
Transfer Window Slams Shut.
Next Issue: A Capital One Cup match vs Benfica, and a big match against PSG, coming up in the next issue.
I hope you enjoyed my update. I'll see you again next time.Last edited by cathal; 12-05-2014, 06:15 PM. Reason: I took out the yellow, in the scoreline for Dortmund, because the bright colours were too distractingComment

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
gonna give y'all some love before leaving the office today, gotta admit that the new job has not let me reply to your guys' CM's as much.
Cathal - forgive me for saying your CM doesn't really get my attention, there are always Champions and Euro Leagues so I've never understood the need for a super league. That being said I do hope you're enjoying it, just wanted to let you know I probably won't follow much since it doesn't appeal to me.
Indi - I'm digging the sponsorship and how it'll have us glued to your CM. Can't wait for the next updates. I think you'd be making a big mistake if you don't start Zoran Tosic, that's totally unbiased (not).
Tex - my man I'm so proud of myself for bringing you back, lol. It's still early and I'd be shocked if you don't win the League 1 title. I even looked up James Wilson to see what the fuss is all about, I get it ...
Simp - so glad to see you go with the team I wanted. Whenever you're frustrated with your transfer budget just remember that mine at Dagenham's in the BPL is only a third of yours at Verona. I love the denial in your press conferences (Villareal? you never talked to them ...). I look forward to you falling in love with the (younger) rabbit and doing whatever it takes to purchase him for good, and I'm not even Uruguayan but you're gonna love Cristoforo too and I have no doubts that you'll exercise that buy option.
Chico - you're doing a hell of a job staying atop the BPL but I will be heartbroken for you if you are eliminated by Porto again, though I know from experience those 2 away goals are very valuable. Nice to see Eaves back in your good graces as well. Also you missed or ignored my end of season Alcorcon update, not cool either way.
Tauter - looking forward to your first few games at 1860
Keano - waiting for that first update of yours at the Championship ....

My next update will be the August update for Dagenham in the first season in the BPL. Here's a little spoiler:
SpoilerI doubt many of you remember but I signed Nicola Leali on pre-contract last winter. I didn't know him at all but a scout brought his name up, I had said scout do a full work up on him, and I liked what I saw so I went and got him. Turns out he's a stud. He's now the starter at Dagenham.
Why am I mentioning this? Well, it's kind of a spoiler on the Alcorcon CM as well:
SpoilerTurns out I'm looking for a new, younger GK this summer and while doing my due diligence I found Leali AGAIN, only this time he's rated even higher (I'm like 3 seasons ahead here) and I was really tempted to sign him but I disliked the idea of having the same player in both CM's. I've only done it with Akpom and honestly it's been kind of a turn off. Anyways, I was able to pass up on Leali here because I found someone just as good, whose name won't be revealed until the next Alcorcon update
