Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

        Dagenham '18-19 Season
        March Update

        League Match 26
        Dagenham - Cardiff City (3-2)
        Victor Andrade 27' (Gavilan)
        Rodriguez 34'
        Heldon 48'
        Locadia 54' (Victor Andrade)
        Victor Andrade 69' (Nimely)

Recap: Depending on whether you're cup half full or half empty kind of person you'll either be disappointed about the Daggers struggling against a team fighting off relegation or impressed by a comeback win. Either way it's hard to deny that at this point VA is making a strong case for team MVP, regardless of where Dagenham ends up.

        League Match 27
        Swansea City - Dagenham (1-4)
        Vilna 7' (Jones)
        Locadia 21' (Reyna)

        Hynes 38'
        Wilkinson 72' (Toral)
        Toral 76' (Victor Andrade)

Recap: Strong road win against the kind of team that has troubled the Daggers this season. Jon Toral has turned around his season once the coaches realized he's a best fit as a backup CAM and he's playing at a really high level right now.

        F.A. Cup - Quarter Finals
        Dagenham - Chelsea (1-1)
        Kim 7'
        De Bruyne 60'

Recap: As faith would have it these two will get to continue their newly established rivalry after a dead heat in 90 minutes. Kim got the Daggers on the scoreboard early thanks to a hustle play but Dagenham had trouble getting consistent shots thereafter and Chelsea's goal kept becoming a matter of when more than if. It's a rematch neither team really wanted to happen ...

Champions League - Round of 16, 2nd Leg
        Dagenham - FC Porto (2-3, 6-5 agg)
        Kelvin 8' (P)
        Carlos Eduardo 25'
        Reyna 28' (Locadia)
        Toral 55'

        Herrera 60'

Recap: WOW. THAT close to, at best, Dagenham being forced into extra time. An early PK got Porto going and they were all-in on making a game out of this one but luckily our key guys for the Daggers stepped up to keep the aggregate score in their favor. You're not going to believe who they'll face in quarter finals ...

        League Match 28
        Manchester City - Dagenham (1-3)
        Reyna 11' (Kim)
        Vilna 65'

        Ozil 90'
        Caseres 90+' (Gonzalez)

Recap: Well what do you know? Dagenham wraps up a perfect month in the PL with an unquestionable victory against an always talented MCFC squad. Could this mean the turnaround to the Daggers' season? Only time will tell.

        English Premier League - Standings
        1. Chelsea - 57pts
        2. Arsenal - 55pts
        3. Manchester Utd - 51pts
        4. Dagenham - 51pts
        5. Tottenham - 48pts

        6. Liverpool - 47pts
        7. Fulham - 47pts
        8. Aston Villa - 46pts
        9. Manchester City - 45pts
        ...
        18. Crystal Palace - 21pts
        19. Swansea City - 20pts
        20. QPR - 20pts

A month with 3 league games that is aced by the Daggers gets them a 4-spot jump in the standings and that coupled with a not-so-good month by Chelsea means that Dagenham is suddenly even in contention for the league title? Do you believe THAT? Then again, if you're the glass half empty kind of person you'll point out that Dagenham is as close to 9th place as they are to 1st. If Paez's squad is really going to pull off the impossible they'll have to strap on their chin straps because the last 2 months will bring a ton of difficult games, starting right away with April. Victor Andrade (11) keeps creeping up the PL scoring leader board thanks in part to a dry spell by Abel Hernandez (16) and the Dagenham star now has 11 assists to lead the league in assists (Dani Pacheco is second with 8). He also leads the Champions' league in assists with 5 ahead of Porto's Fernando who has 4 while Leali, who has been a disappointment in league play, shares the lead in clean sheets in the Champions with 4. Unfortunately every new month seems to bring up a new injury and this time John Jones suffered a sprained knee injury in practice that will keep him out for a week.

Wouldn't you know it? Dagenham is set to face ... CHELSEA in the Champions League quarter finals. That means that, now that they'll also face them on a replay of the F.A. Cup quarter finals, by the time this season is over Dagenham-Chelsea will have met 7 times this season. SEVEN TIMES. Now do you believe it's the beginning of a new rivalry? The mentioned replay also complicates matters for both squad since they're schedule to play that game on April 2nd, the day before the 1st leg of their Champions tie. Dagenham will resort to the B squad for the F.A. Cup but no report yet as to what Chelsea will do. Mourinho's roster is far deeper than Paez's so whoever he puts out on the pitch for these games will likely have an edge. Dagenham is likely to lean on their B-squad for their first league game in April against Southampton as that is schedule to take place just 3 days after the 1st leg of the Champions' quarter finals and 3 days before the 2nd leg. Other Champions League quarter finals matchups include Arsenal-Real Madrid, Inter-Atletico Madrid, and Barca-Bor. Dortmund. Oh, and Chelsea won the Capital One Cup 3-1 over Liverpool.

In academy news the team's scout in Venezuela finished his 6-month assignment. Here's the youth squad:
        • Pavel Vrhovec (CF, 57-61 OVR, 87-93 POT): 17-year old from Croatia already showing some good speed in the academy. The great news is that he's an elite prospect at a position of need but the bad news is that, due to his age, he's unlikely to remain in the academy past this season.
        • Sean Foran (LM, 62-66, 83-89): 16-year old from Ireland who is the fastest out of all the Irishmen in the academy. Our midfield could be 75% Irish in the near future.
        • Victor Soriano (GK, 60-64, 83-89): 15-year old from Venezuela who is highly regarded and has a chance to become a special youngster in the PL if he sticks in the academy for a couple of seasons.
        • Franco Gomez (CAM, 50-56, 80-88): 16-year old from Venezuela whose promise makes up for his size (5'5"). Described as a playmaker.
        • Esteban Navarro (CM, 50-54, 80-86): 16-year old from Venezuela also described as a playmaker. His skillset may not necessarily be a good fit for the diamond.
        • Damiano Janse (CB, 43-45, 79-85): 16-year old from Netherlands who will actually be tried at CDM since his stature (5'11") isn't ideal for a CB.
        • Fabrice Mengual (RM, 56-60 78-84): 17-year old playmaker from France who actually projects as more of a CAM. He's a candidate to be promoted in May since he may not progress a whole lot more in the academy.
        • Rodrigo Marquez (RB, 43-53, 71-87)*: 16-year old from Venezuela who will be played at CB due to no speed and a solid frame of 6'3", 178lbs).
        • Matthieu Maupay (CAM, 57-61, 74-80): 16-year old from France finally settled in at a position. Described as an attacker.
        • Victor Soriano (CF, 50-58, 71-83)*: 16-year old from Venezuela representing the second prospect from the country in our academy with that name and last name. He has indeed settled in at CF.
        • Stef Gilissen (CB, 40-42, 74-80): 16-year old from Netherlands who has settled to play at CB. Physically strong.
        • Ciaran Kavanagh (CM, 58-62, 72-78): 16-year old from Ireland who also projects as a technically-gifted CAM.
        • Siem Reijnen (CB, 41-45, 70-88): 15-year old from the Netherlands described as physically strong. We hope he'll grow past his current 6'1" frame but we like him at his position.
        • Pablo Ruiz (CF, 38-46, 65-79)*: 16-year old from Venezuela possessing outstanding physical tools (6'4", 178lbs, physically strong). The team is hoping to develop his skills enough to make him a contributor.

        * Denotes recent addition to the academy.

17-year olds Nathan Kenny (RM, 64 OVR), Showing Great Potential) and Pablo Escobar (CAM, 61 OVR, Showing Great Potential) requested to be promoted and were signed to the senior squad. The team hopes to get them out on loan in the summer. In order to make room on the roster academy product Orestes Sentelidis (LW, 60 OVR) was released.

Current roster (* Denotes player graduated from the youth academy):

              The Wednesday: October 2016

              ARS 0-2 SHW
              October 1 @ Emirates Stadium
              Barclays PL: Round 7

May's brace made it four goals in two games against Arsenal for the Scot, who seems to be enjoying the best form of his club career spearheading the new 4-2-3-1. He scored his first after 21 minutes, fooling Calum Chambers before smashing the ball in. A second came just seven minutes later when Arsenal's defenders left him unmarked in the box during a corner kick, allowing the former St. Johnstone man to execute a brave diving header. Liam Palmer contributed both assists, while Fabian Delph set the tempo for most of the 90 minutes.

              SHW 3-1 STK

              October 16 @ Hillsborough Stadium
              Barclays PL: Round 8

Mackay-Steven opened the scoring on seven minutes, holding off Marc Muniesa to turn and shoot inside the box, and Delph followed up with a driving shot after being allowed through on goal by a poor defence, it was not until 70 minutes that Westwood was finally challenged with a proper effort. Bojan crossed to Marko Arnautovic, who teed up Anthony Modeste for a tap-in and a lifeline. With five minutes to go, Stoke won a late corner and Arnautovic headed the ball to Westwood. The Irishman's punch fell to May, who ran the length of the pitch with Jack Butland still trailing to rifle home a third and seal a seventh straight win in the league.

              MCI 2-0 SHW
              October 22 @ Etihad Stadium
              Barclays PL: Round 9

Any shot at going undefeated came to an end with a first league loss at Manchester City, but the performance offers some positives. Oscar scored inside 20 minutes after getting on the end of a slick cross from Samir Nasri, and David Silva finished off a sucker punch move with less than 10 to go. In between, Delph showcased his class by being one of the few players to win the midfield battle against Yaya Toure. Mackay-Steven and Paterson consistently beat the City defence, but Willy Caballero was unbeatable in goal. Bristol City will probably suffer.

              BRC 1-5 SHW

              October 25 @ Ashton Gate
              Capital One Cup: Round 4

Mackay-Steven scored a perfect hat-trick with goals at 23, 33 and 82 minutes. His first was a peach of a header, falling backwards to meet Ince's corner kick. The second was a classy chip over Frank Fielding, and the third was a rocket with his slightly weaker right foot. May and Bigirimana added a goal each with well-hit shots from the edge of the box, and Kieran Agard scored a consolation in injury time after Meekings went down with cramp. This makes it nine goals in two cup games and a quarter-final showdown at home against Tottenham.

              SHW 1-0 SUN
              October 29 @ Hillsborough Stadium
              Barclays PL: Round 10

Pouring rain make conditions perfect for fast wingers but a nightmare for central defenders, but Meekings and Williams held fast with their best defensive display since West Brom. Both defenders earned a match rating of 8.4 for their consistent dominance of the air. Meekings also started the counter-attack that lead to the solitary goal. Receiving the ball on the right, Paterson drove down the wing before cutting in and slicing the ball towards Mackay-Steven, who took one touch with his left before hitting it with his right. The goal came just as the first half ended, and despite a stronger showing in the second half, Sunderland failed to produce.

              Manager Comments
              (Inspired by texasbum06)

Arsenal: They just don't seem to learn from their mistakes. The same rash defenders made the same silly mistakes. Laurent Koscielny was absolutely class. He was the only reason we weren't able to hit them for another few goals in the second, and he doesn't deserve to be wasting his career at a club that's obviously not going to be winning anything anytime soon.

Manchester City: As much as it pains us to suffer a first loss of the season, at least we didn't go down to a poor side or because of bad refereeing. Yes, both of City's goals had that slight 'sucker punch' taste, but you feel that they deserved to win on merit of taking their chances.

Bristol: After a loss, the best way to bounce back is by making your next opponents pay for the sins of the previous team. We tore Bristol apart with five goals, including a first hat-trick for Mackay-Steven in Wednesday colours. Tottenham in the next round will be tough, but you have to beat the best teams to win the whole damn thing, and that's what we plan to do!

Form: We have eight wins, one draw and one loss from our first ten games. Picking up 25 points before the start of November is beyond anything we hoped to achieve, but the blend of talent and cohesion seems to have put us on another level. I don't expect us to challenge for the title, mostly because the other teams are so good but also because we tend to run out of steam by March, but we will be running for a top four spot this season. I will also be satisfied with Europa League
qualification , but I think we all know where we're headed.

Table: I think this one speaks for itself. Chelsea lead with 25 points and their superior goal differential, and we're right behind. Liverpool are also on 25 points in third, while the likes of Spurs and City are right behind. In fact, there are only nine points separating Chelsea and seventh-placed Everton. At the bottom, we have no surprises in seeing Sunderland and Hull suffering at the bottom two. What's shocking is a team as packed with rich talent such as Mauro Zarate and Winston Reid is in danger of the drop, but the reality is that Moose seems to have lost the plot at West Ham. One expects them to fight back as the games go on, but it would be a shame if next season's battles didn't include that high-octane trip to Upton Park.

Stevie May: The very same player I wanted to sell this summer has scored six of our 18 goals in the league, as well as chipping in with a few in the cup. He benefits greatly from being the lone striker, and my target for him (20 goals) is looking like a realistic possibility. I still have a nagging feeling that he might drop off in the second half of the season, but a good rest in January should solve that problem before it arises.

Keiren Westwood: The real reason for our success has been the Irish stopper, yet another of the players I originally planned to ship out. He's kept five clean sheets in nine games since I dropped Alex Smithies after the Swansea match, conceding just six times since then. While he might not make it past this summer, we don't doubt that he can take us to the next level.

November: We have some tough games coming our way. Cardiff have lost their last three since getting back to the Premier League, so our second trip to Wales this season will be a real cracker. Leicester at home should be relatively straightforward, and the third game at Chelsea is going to be another test of our abilities. Queens Park Rangers then come calling, and we finish the month with our Capital One Cup quarter-final at home against Tottenham.

Chelsea were the clear favourites but Radja's (Nainggolan) amazing long shot changed and Thorgan Hazard's deserved sending off in the 20th minute changed everything. After the goal the boys did everything I wanted: park the bus and counter attack. Then Breel (Embolo) finished a counter attack to double our lead. Chelski got to taste their own medicine."

                Hot or Not

                Hot

                Radja Nainggolan

Nainggolan continued to perform well in April. Once again he controlled the tempo of the game and he did everything he could do on the pitch. He also scored an amazing goal against Chelsea which decided the match up.

                Marquinhos

The young Brazilian defender had another good month next to his colleague Kaan Ayhan. Marquinhos made some important tackles and interceptions and he continued to make very nice heading clearances.

                Headlines
Inspired by Chico, Indi and Tex

League form: We played six league games in April. We won three games, against Fiorentina, Lazio and Udinese, and drew three games, against Parma, Palermo and Roma. That isn't good enough for a team that is leading the league. Something doesn't seem to be right. Maybe we underestimated them or maybe we didn't concentrate enough.

League standings: With three remaining games and a nine-point difference between us and Juventus there is still a chance that Juve will win the league. The possibility of us losing all of our remaining games (that are against Chievo Verona, Atalanta and one more midtable team) is very unlikely, though.

Champions League: For the first time in the club's history we have reached the final of a European cup. Before this year the club has reached the quarter finals of the Europa League (then known as the UEFA Cup) in 1988. Our opponent in the final, Bayern München, is the clear favourite of the match but we can surprise them if everyone reaches their top level.

Treble dream: After we wrap up the league season we will have still have two finals left to play: one against Fiorentina in the TIM Cup and one against Bayern in the Champions League. Both finals will be played during the same on week: the TIM Cup one on Sunday and the Champions League one six days later on Saturday. If everything goes well we will celebrate the treble as the second ever Italian team.

Simone or Simo-no Zaza: Simone Zaza, who arrived in January as a replacement for the out of form Paulo Dybala, faced big expectations from the fans and the media. It's safe to say that the striker has not lived up to them. He has scored only six goals in three months and he's looking like a flop who could be sold in the summer.

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

@Rabbit, Dagenham firstly. Some high scoring games in February! Andrade has really stepped up big time. Looks like the Mexican keeper was a god for that game. 10.0! My god. Another good month, big plus getting into the Champions League semis and good results against City and Chelsea. Looks like you have plenty of games against Chelsea next month too. Solid play with Venezuela too!

Alcoron now. Lopez, Farago and Correa are a deadly strike force, showed in that demolition of Villarreal. Tough against Real but they are a good side and you bounced back really well. Nice 3-0 win against Juve. Good wins with Argentina also.

@Sportsfreak, Solid month, Bifouma is doing really well. Massive results against Barca and Real! Big wins with Bolivia too. I liked the bit at the end getting in some of the guys here.

@Indi, Good month! Solid start with a clean sheet at Arsenal and win against Stoke. Unlucky against City but they are a good side and you bounced back hammering Bristol. Hope you can push on again next month!

@Simp, A lot of draws but some big wins too! Most importantly getting past Chelsea and into the Champions League final! I hope you can win that, the cup and close out the league (which I think you will do). Nice 2 youth products too.

@Cabee, Nicely presented! Cummins would be an interesting re-buy. Jamieson IV as we all know was great for Tex so I expect he'll be good for you too if you do go for him.

                      Blanquiazules’

                      November 2014

                      RC Deportivo 0 - Getafe CF 2
                      GET - Castro 17' (Pen), Lacen 77'
                      MOTM: Guaita

Alvaro was awarded a penalty off a blatant dive in the box allowing Castro to convert down the middle on a penalty for the lead early on. Freddy sent a cross in from the left wing that Insua was able to head down to Luisinho who was missed his clearance attempt allowing the ball to drop right to Lacen for the quick finish on the right post.

                      Cordoba CF 2 - RC Deportivo 0
                      Ghilas 81', Crespo 90'
                      MOTM: Rossi

Lux kept out a shot from Matos from the top of the box, but the rebound fell right at the feet of Ghilas who hit it into the empty net. Crespo passed the ball to Matos, and got it right back in the middle of the box and curled it perfectly inside the right post to put the match away and secure all 3 points.

                      RC Deportivo 2 - Real Sociedad 3
                      DEP - Frariña 31', Cuenca 45' (Pen)
                      SOC - Agirretxe 47', Canales 64' 85'
                      MOTM: Lux

Medunjanin was shown a questionable straight red in just the 11th minute after a poorly timed challenge. Cuenca held the ball up on the left wing and found Fariña making a run into the box for a first time strike into the top right corner. Right before the half ended, Fariña tracked down the ball inside the box after a corner was deflected and was taken down from behind by Varela allowing Cuenca to step up and convert the penalty. Sociedad finally took advantage of the red card and got free in the box and hit it past the keeper inside the right post. Canales got it even getting free on the back post and hitting it off the left post and in. Canales added the winner after Pablo failed to clear a ball that seemed an easy clearance and Canales poked it into the near post.

                      Atletico Madrid 3 - RC Deportivo 0
                      ATL - Mandzukic 57', 75' (Pen), Marchisio 63'
                      MOTM: Moya

Atletico finally got on the board in the second half when Mandzukic received the ball outside the box and turned to his left to fire a right footed shot into the bottom left corner. Marchisio played a great give and go and worked his way into the box and fired a shot that brushed off of Diakite and ended up just inside the post. After what appeared to be one of the most blatant flops I've seen by Mandzukic to earn a penalty, he stepped up to the spot and placed it in the top left corner to secure his brace.

Deportivo La Coruña Player of the Month

                      Luis Fariña

Luis Fariña provided the only positive moments in an absolutely terrible month of play. His goal and his effort to draw a penalty for the other goal accounted for the only 2 goals scored throughout the entire month.

                      Manager Comments

Academy Update - The first recruits have finally been brought in to join the academy. Thee young players from Spain and another from Argentina have all joined the mix. More time is needed still to establish which positions their future will be in but each player has the promise of being a part of Deportivo La Coruña for years to come. The 16 year old from Argentina, Victor Manuel, is an especially promising one and a close watch will be kept on him.

Nightmare Form - The run of terrible form continues. This month was an embarrassment for lack of a better word. 4 matches, 0 wins, 3 clean sheets against us, and only 2 goals scored overall. It couldn't have gone much worse and we will have to absolutely get better.

Copa Del Rey - Our first matches in the Copa Del Rey start next month with 2 legs against Athletic Bilbao. The timing is not ideal with our current form, but maybe we can use this as an opportunity to start turning it around. Having our first round be against a club like Bilbao is unfortunate as well, but there's nothing we can do about the draw.

Referees - The officiating wasn't up to par this month. We were terrible this month, but the refs certainly didn't help either. We had 2 penalties awarded against us for some of the worse dives I have seen. I'll take whatever consequences this comes with, but it is embarrassing to see mistakes like that made out there by these "professionals".

What a rough month. Sociedad must have been really frustrating seeing as you got a 2 goal lead with 10 men. Likewise the Atletico game as you kept them scoreless for the first hour. You've also dropped down to near relegation so I hope that you can improve next month.

What a terrible month! Two goals in four games is also very bad. I think you just got very unlucky in some of the games. I'm sure you'll turn things around in the next month, though.

There is something wrong with the game. Some times the referee awards penalties that aren't even close to a penalty (like that one and one that I had a few months ago when the player clearly got the ball half a second before he touched the player) and then there are the times when your player gets taken out and there's nothing. Anyway, I'll stop before this turns into a rant. But that is not a penalty.

Also, I just finished playing though May and I'll post the update tomorrow. The poll about my FIFA future will be in that update.
