      Nott'm Forest 2-1 Coventry City

      Burke 59' Lansbury 82'
      Barton 34'

      MotM: Henri Lansbury (NFO)

Barton was played through the left side of our defence by Jacksom before he shot under Darlow and into the net. Webster brought down Assombalonga outside the box giving away a free kick. Chris Burke stood over it about 25 yards out from the goal on the left side of the box. He curled it over the wall and it was always going away from Allsop into the net for the equalizer. Lansbury got the winner running onto a reverse pass from Fryatt. His shot deflected off Barton and curled around Allsop to advance us to the next round.

      FL Championship: Match 1

      Nott'm Forest 1-0 Birmingham City

      Cotterill 43' OG

      MotM: Jack Hunt (NFO, 7.9)

We dominated the opening 45 minutes controlling the ball and having the better of the chances. The first came with a Lansbury header after Paterson delivered a corner. A great Hunt cross found Assombalonga in space at the back post and if it wasn't for Randolph's reactions we would have been 1-0 up. Lansbury would have our final chance before the goal. He received the ball with his back to Packwood on the edge of the area. He turned the Birmingham defender and sent his shot inches by the post. We would go in at halftime with a 1 goal advantage thanks to a piece of luck. Burke was about to shoot and Cotterill desperately tried to tackle the ball away. He did that but unfortunately for him it was only into his own net. In the second half Assombalonga had the chance to make it 2-0 but Randolph just about managed to save his effort. Darlow was eventually tested by Birmingham when he had to dive at Novak's feet in the 77th minute. Cotterill would then blaze over from the edge of the box attempting to make amends before substitute Green would head also over. Birmingham almost rescued a point when Lascelles failed head the ball away properly. Donaldson struck it on the volley from inside our area but thankfully Darlow got his hands to it.

Michael Mancienne suffered a Dead Leg Quad against Birmingham and will be out for 6 days.

      August 23, Carrow Road
      FL Championship: Match 2

      Norwich City 2-1 Nott'm Forest

      Howson 27' Hooper 38'
      Veldwijk 61' (Pen)

      MotM: Lars Veldwijk (NPO, 8.3)

A few changes were made for today's game against promotion favourites Norwich. We actually had more attempts and more on target. Us 6 & 5, Norwich 4 & 2. But they got the 2 important shots into the net. Ruddy saved an effort from Cataldi and then Hoolahan tested Darlow. From the resulting corner Veldwijk met it at the front post but it only went up into the air. Hooper spotted Howson in space so he headed it to him. Howson hit it first time on the volley and it went through fellow teammate Bennett's legs possibly making Darlow see it late. It went right into the left corner out of Darlow's reach. 10 minutes later the ball was played into Hooper. Wilson wasn't tight enough to him and he allowed Hooper to turn around him and shoot past Darlow for a 2 goal lead at halftime. Close to the hour mark Cohen was played in behind the defence by Veldwijk. Martin intercepted the pass but Cohen managed to muscle him off the ball and get in on goal. Bassong then came across and body checked him to the ground. It was a stonewall penalty. Veldwijk stepped up and even Ruddy dived the right way it was high enough to go over him. It was now back to only 1 goal. 6 minutes later Veldwijk came very close with a header before Assombalonga controlled a cross in the 81st minute. As he went to strike it Bassong managed to block it slightly taking all the power out of it meaning Ruddy had a comfortable save.

      August 30, City Ground
      FL Championship: Match 3

      Nott'm Forest 2-1 Rotherham United

      Veldwijk 69' Assombalonga 85'
      Frecklington 42'

      MotM: Danilo Cataldi (NFO, 7.6)

To end the month we hosted a determined Rotherham side. We started well with Cataldi breaking through early and testing Loach with a powerful shot. Fellow loanee Chalobah sent a long range effort just wide before Paterson didn't connect with a header the way he would have liked to. Green had the visitors first chance volleying miles over. Then against the run of play Rotherham scored. Taylor was allowed to turn in the box and pass it back to Frecklington for him to score into an empty net as Darlow was out of position. Loach would then save another attempt, this time from Blackstock as he was played through after a one-two with Veldwijk. Cataldi would then play the ball into Veldwijk who stepped off his man, touched it out of his feet and smashed it past Loach. Assombalonga, a late substitute, would score a late winner and what was also his first goal for the club. Paterson found himself in a more central area and he spotted Assombalonga's run in between the centre backs. The ball in would be weighted perfectly so that the Congo international could finish it first time into the bottom corner.

      Player of the Month

      Lars Veldwijk

The 6'5" Dutch striker netted twice this month in the 2 games he played and was named Man of the Match against Norwich for his terrific effort. Lars is an extremely strong young lad and for his height he is fairly mobile which is a great asset. We hope that he can develop well leading the line for us.

      Thoughts
So here we are. Chalobah and Spearing were brought in for defensive midfielder duties and Chalobah has really impressed there. He has already gone up to 70 Ovr from 68. I haven't used Spearing yet as he was bought on deadline day. I was originally looking at Rohan Ince but he had already moved to Leeds. Luke Hyam was also my 3rd choice if I didn't get Spearing. Cataldi was brought in for some depth at CAM and to replace Reid who was moved on. He has really impressed and I definitely think I will be paying the £300k in the summer to buy him permanently. Dicko gives us extreme pace up front. Jay Emmanuel-Thomas was my other option but I felt that Veldwijk and Assombalonga already offer what he would bring. We didn't really have a speed merchant up front so that's why Dicko got the nod. I'm extremely happy that I got the 5 young lads out on loan to develop as will the squad we have they wouldn't get many chances with us. We have also purchased a 2* 3* Scout but have yet to send him out to a country although it will most likely be to England.

I will post a squad report soon with the full squad, formation etc. What do you guys think of the transfers? Also do you like the layout and is it ok to follow? A lot of it was from Indi's Wednesday career and I hope you don't mind! Also all the games were on Legendary expect for the Cup game against Coventry.
      Thanks for Reading!

        "TOO BIG FOR THIS LEAGUE"
        LEGENDARY
        PS4

        League Cup Round 2

        Huddersfield 0-1 Brentford
        Toral 13
Toral ran to the ball to head in from a corner to get the only goal of the game. Betinho put 2 golden chances wide, first firing wide from close range and then heading over the bar at the far post. Butterfield unbelievably missed what would have been an equaliser, 1-on-1 with the keeper he curled it high and wide.

        Match 4

        Brentford 2-0 Millwall
        Gray 7
        Gray 86

Gray gave us the lead with an acrobatic volley on the rebound after Pritchard's ferocious drive was parried by the keeper. Fabbrini headed inches wide for Millwall before Douglas hit the bar from distance for us. There weren't many more chances but Gray made it 2, finding the bottom corner after running clear thanks to an incredible touch to beat Beevers.

        Match 5

        Reading 1-0 Brentford
        Cox 40
We disappointed today and Reading had the first chance, Yakubu heading just wide early on. Federici was forced into a good save to deny Gray but Cox scored for the Royals, capitalising on a gap in the defence to smash into the top corner. He almost scored again, heading over the bar from close range.

        Match 6

        Brentford 0-2 Derby
        Martin 53
        Bryson 71

A second disappointing result, and that's because nothing happened for us. The first chance of the game was Martin's goal, smashing into the bottom corner first time. Button made a great save to deny Bryson before he found the top corner from the edge of the box minutes later.

        League Cup Round 3

        Wigan 0-0 Brentford (2-4 pens)
The match was end to end crap. No-one could score. Clarke missed three sitters for them, Toral headed our best chance over the bar and Betinho looked like he couldn't score even if it gave him a million pounds! The match ended and extra-time was dull. Fortunately, Holt and McLean couldn't scored from 12 yards so we could continue our run in the cup to the Last 16.

        Match 7

        Nott'm Forest 2-4 Brentford
        Pritchard 31 (PEN)
        Blackstock 37
        Pritchard 45 (PEN)
        Vaughan 45
        Ibe 48
        Pritchard 74

The first chance of the game came to Forest when Button made a decent save to deny Fryatt 1-on-1. Pritchard gave us the lead from the penalty spot after Gray was brought down by Lansbury when competing for the ball from a corner. Blackstock equalised soon after, a ball through splitting the defence and he smashed it into the far corner. Pritchard scored again from the spot after he was brought down when taking a shot but Vaughan equalised with a looping header that Button decided to ignore. Ibe gave us the lead straight after half time, making a run in from the left before smashing into the top corner. Goal number 4 came when we had 3 attackers vs 1 defender. Gray ran clear and pulled it back past the defender for Pritchard to stroke in off the post to complete his hat-trick. The new tactic works in it's first game.

        Match 8

        Brentford 1-1 Huddersfield
        Toral 5
        Hogg 49

We were forced to play a reserve side due to a lack of match fitness but we dominated the game. Toral opened the scoring on the rebound after his initial header was stopped. Dallas out the ball inches wide after breaking into the box and Betinho continued being allergic to scoring by missing a sitter. Hogg undeservedly equalised, firing in from close range after the keeper got in the way of a clearance of the line. Forster-Caskey almost found the back of the net, grazing the post before going wide after beating 4 defenders to find space before letting fly. Unfortunately, we couldn't find a winner.

        League Table

        1. Cardiff City 19
        2. Fulham 19
        3. Wolves 18
        4. Bournemouth 15
        5. Blackburn 15
        6. Millwall 14

@indiblue man I will see you have joined the dark side. I'm on the one as well been part of the box family since 2007. Before that was a long time Sony guy.

A Roma update. This first few months have brought some challenges. We are in the middle of October 2014. We have played 7 matches. We have draws with Florentino (pardon spelling), Hellas Verona. Losses to Empoli we did not turn up in this match losing 3-1. Juventus was a hard fought match that saw fall midway in the second half 1-0. Wins against Cagliari, Parma, and Chievo Verona.

In transfers I have only added Hulk to give us some strength in the strikers with Gervinho and Ibaro. In the winter transfer window we are looking for value in the mid field. More to come later, keep the wood work rocking guys.

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

The votes are in, and you guys have decided that I'm going to spend 15 seasons with Derby County Football Club, one of the greatest sides in England... or they used to be at some point. To make this career mode last a little longer and give me some more fun, I've decided to implement a few restrictions. In previous career modes that didn't suffer from corrupted saves or foolish overwrites, I usually lost interest by the third or fourth season. That's about the time that your high-potential players hit the upper 70s, which is when the likes of Chelsea and PSG start offering you obscene fees that cause tremendous internal conflict. Compounding the problem is the presence of the free transfer feature, which makes it easy to bring in players you have no business scouting in the first place. The result is a faster achievement of your goals, putting a small dent in the satisfaction of building your team up over a number of years. With these new restrictions, I hopefully won't lose interest or find the game too easy after a few seasons. Anyway, let's take a look at what's going to be different with this save.

            First transfer window

The first transfer window will be turned off, and no purchases can be made in January. Sales and loans (in and out) are fine. There will be plenty of time to bring in the players I want. Promotion must be earned, not bought. Derby have been waiting to get back to the Premier League for a long time, and with the squad that is at my disposal, there's no reason why I shouldn't achieve that in the first season.

            Subsequent paid transfers

No player can be sold for more than 150% of his paper value, so if one of my strikers is valued at £10 million, he can be sold for a maximum of £15 million. Similarly, no player can be bought for less than 100% of his paper value, so if I want to sign a winger valued at £10 million, I cannot pay less than that.

            Scouting & academy

No more than two scouts can be employed by the academy, and only one may be 5/5 rated. The academy may hold no more than 5 players at any given time, and no more than 3 may be promoted to the first team each season. Also, no more than three scouts can be under the GTN, and though I'm not putting any rating restrictions on them, they may not scout outside Europe.

            Free transfers

I'm limiting myself to one pre-contract signing per season, and the player's value cannot exceed the season's initial transfer budget. Players over 21 signed from the free agents pool will be considered under this quota, while a player 21 or younger signed from the free agents pool will be considered as one of the three promoted academy players.

            Wages

Derby are a modest club with a stadium that holds about 33,000 fans. But even if they make it to the Premier League and find the mid-table stability that necessitates a stadium expansion, they won't ever go beyond 45,000. Only trophy wins will increase their global profile and marketability, and even then there will be limits to how far they can rise. To reflect this, no player under 85 OVR can be paid more than £100,000 per week, while no player over 85 OVR can be paid more than £150,000 per week.

            Contracts

A contract extension may only be offered if a player asks for a pay rise within reason, if his existing deal is in its final year, or if his terms do not do justice to his current role.
Example of players deserving new deals include a youth player having a breakout season or the captain asking for a 25% rise with under two years on his contract. Also, any player who refuses his first contract offer because he wants to consider his options or see out his deal before moving will not be offered a second one. Similarly, homesick or unsettled players will be gone at the first opportunity. If you aren't 100% sure you want to be here, it's best you find somewhere else to play. But we will keep negotiating with any player who turns down an offer due to reasonable dissatisfaction with the wage, squad role or duration. If you show willingness to meet me halfway, I'll do the same.

            Squad

I've almost always put strict nationality restrictions on my teams. Looking back at Brighton, which is the most fun I've ever had with a career, I see that there was no all-British or all-English requirement. I bought the players I needed while keeping a core from the country my team plays in, which is the right way to do things in a day and age where borders are getting blurred. You can't pass up the man who'd make your team tick or go to the next level just because he was born in another country, and I'm not going to do that this time. Since my squad size is usually 23-25, I'm going to say that at least 51% of them have to be English. That would be 12 players in a 23-man squad, and 13 in a 24- or 25-man squad.

            Other

No rage quits, no do-overs, no reloads. Whatever happens, happens. If plan A doesn't work out, we'll find an alternative, no matter if one of our own players screws us over or if another club prices us out after initially giving us a reasonable quote.

Derby seems like a great team, and I'm excited for career mode after a long time. If you have any other ideas or suggestions, leave a reply.

@indiblue all I can say is EPIC. Man can't wait to see. I think I'm I for the long haul at Roma too. Been trying to finish playing some other games I have had on hold for a while. Went back to FIFA again yesterday after almost a two week hiatus. Boy did I miss playing it.

                Ha Ho He

                Transfers Out

                Ron-Robert Zieler,
                €9,500,000 to Livrpool

                Transfers In

                Julian Draxler

Left Midfielder, 81 Ovr, 23 Years Old, Germany

                Swap Deal With Valentin Stocker

Hertha BSC made two signings in January and both of them were to replace another player. The cheaper one, Julian Draxler, arrived in a straight swap deal from Schalke 04. The young German midfielder who can play everywhere in midfield Has played for Schalke's foundation since 2001 and he has been one of the most interesting German talents. Draxler, who is a talented, skillful and both-footed midfielder will be a starter for Hertha.

                Diego Benaglio

83 Ovr, Goalkeeper, 33 Years Old, Switzerland

                €13,000,000

Hertha made offers for many, many keepers. Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, Ralf Fährmann, Jan Oblak and Bernd Leno are just some of them. At the end the Berliners decided to sign Diego Benaglio from fellow Bundesliga team Wolfsburg. The 33 year old cost 13 milllion but he has shown qualities at a high level for many years now. Benaglio played for the Swiss national teams for thirteen years before retireing from international football after the 2014 World Cup. Every supporter of the Berliners hopes that Benaglio will do a better job than Ron-Robert Zieler.

                January 2017

                VfB Stuttgart 0 - 4 Hertha BSC
                Kalou 38', 79', 81', Geis 90'

The first game of the new year against Stuttgart didn't challenge Hertha at all. They out-classed the home team and Salomon Kalou looked like the striker he was last year. He scored the first goal in the 38th minute from a counter attack and in the 79th minute he got a brace in the same fashion. Just two minutes later he finished his hattrick after stealing the ball from Stuttgart's player from kickoff. In stoppage time Johannes Geis added another one to the scoreline with a beautiful long shot.
                Spoiler

                Hertha BSC 3 - 2 1899 Hoffenheim
                Kalou 19', 44', Arnold 50'
                Szalai 4', Rudy 60'

The second match between these two teams was almost as exciting as the first one. Poor defending combined with good attacking is always enjoyable to watch. Hoffenheim got off to a very good start when Adam Szalai headed the ball into the net under five minutes into the game. The lead lasted about fifteen minutes as Salomon Kalou equalised from a counter attack. A minute before the end of the first half Kalou got a brace from a counter attack again. Just five minutes into the second half Maximilian Arnold got into the box and headed the ball into the top left corner to add one more to the lead. Ten minutes after that Sebastian Rudy pulled one back with a shot that rolled straight past Zieler's legs (Chico: I think that was the keeper's mistake :P). Luckily for Hertha it wasn't enough and they won the game.

                VfL Wolfsburg 0 - 1 Hertha BSC
                Kalou 61'

In Diego Benaglio's last game for Wolfsburg his team lost to his future team in front of Wolfsburg's fans. The only goal was scored in the 61st minute when Benaglio parried Julian Draxler's very powerful shot into the air. Salomon Kalou was the first to react and he headed the ball into the net.

                Quarter Final
                FC Augsburg 0 - 2 Hertha BSC
                Son 30', Drmic 49'

Hertha are through to the semi finals of the DFB Pokal! Augsburg weren't a threat at all in this match where the Berliners' second team was able to take them down. Hertha got the lead at the half an hour mark when Heung-Min Son cut in from the left flank and curled the ball into the bottom right corner following his first shot that was saved. Under ten minutes into the second half Josip Drmic doubled the lead by tapping in a low cross. Sadly Hertha's Draxler sprained his knee and he'll miss three weeks due to the injury. The semi-final opponent will be Hamburger SV.

                Player of the Month

                Salomon Kalou

He is back! The Kalou from last season is back! The Ivorian striker finally reached his form of last season in January with six goals in just three games. Everyone is hoping that Kalou will continue to perform like he has in January.

                Starting XI

To be completely honest I have no idea what formation to use. I want both Calhanoglu and Draxler to be on the field but I also want them to play effectively. I've tried a 4-2-3-1, a 4-4-2 diamond, a regular 4-4-2, a 4-3-2-1 and now I'll try a 4-3-3. Any suggestions?

No matter what the formation is, these are the players who are starters.

                Benaglio 83; Uchida 80, Brooks 78, Matip 81, Baba 78; Lustenberger 79, Arnold 81, Calhanoglu 82, Son 79, Draxler 81; Kalou 81

It's been ages since I've commented on all the other careers, so in the next 24 hours, before I post my first Derby update, I'm going to get around to that.

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

@Simp: What a hammering of Hoffenheim to start December! Massive win against Real as well. Congrats on getting through the group stages. Tough loss against Schalke but you bounced back well in the cup against Bayern.

January next, Draxler and Benaglio are nice pickups and I hope Benaglio fixes your goalkeeping situation. At least you recouped some money on Zieler. Kalou is truly back after finding his scoring touch again. You've started to get a lead in the league and good luck in the Champions League and Cup!

@Cabee: Great win against Arsenal to start the month. It's good to get one over on a team that's caused you many problems. The West Brom game looked nerve wrecking but also exciting. What an end to the first half. I bet you were really nervous with that last minute penalty too. Solid against Watford and I wouldn't be too disappointed to lose to United. Good to see that you are still in the top 6. Van Nieff looked to have had a good month.

@Jamie: You started the month well with 2 wins and clean sheets but then you kind of dipped losing 2 on the bounce and scraping through the cup. Good bounce back against Forest (Unfortunately!) though. Mid table isn't bad for a squad of your quality.

@Poulka: Kind of an up and down start to your Roma career. I'm sure you will steady things though as it is a solid squad and Hulk is a good signing. Keep at it!

@Indi: Really nice intro as always. I like the rules you have set and may even use some of them in my Forest career to try and prolong it if that's ok? I like the ones regarding transfers, one bosman per January window and the youth scouts/academy. I wish you luck with the career!

                        Gazélec Football Club Ajaccio
                        FIFA 15 – Season 1

                        Ligue 2

                        ES Troyes 2 – GFC Ajaccio 0
                        TRO – Gimbert 17’, Nivet (PEN) 45’

Troyes go ahead after a mistimed challenge byRodéric Filippi allows Ghislain Gimbert to be uncontested on the left. He cuts in before unconvincingly hitting the ball with little pace but past Maury and into the bottom right corner. The second of goal came from an idiotic challenge by François who arcs his body around and into the player instead of just sliding in normally. Benjamin Nivet then sends the keeper the wrong way from the penalty to extend the lead to two. Gazélec cannot string any passes together and they eventually lose the game with minimal chances in the second half for both teams.

                        Formation News:
Now that Louis Poggi is back, Bee makes a statement by changing the formation to a 5-4-1 diamond. Among some other changes, moving Julien François to centre back seems the most intriguing.

All the changes seem to have paid off as the lively, Lucas Libbra, gets pulled down in the area. M’Madi takes the penalty and he buries it into the top left corner. Ali M’Madi gets Gazélec’s first goal of the season! Angers equalise thirty four minutes later when a one-two allows Jonathan Kodjia to break through the Gazélec defence and slip the ball past the keeper at his near post. Gazélec fight back and they eventually turn the ball into the back of the net due to M’Madi beating three defenders before flicking the ball up and around the keeper but Angers equalise two minutes after as Julien François plays Khaled Ayari onside for him to smash home from close range. Gazélec soon lose their lead when Amos Youga dangles a foot out for Khaled Ayari to fall over in the box. Ayari guides the ball into the far left corner, sending the keeper the wrong way which makes it three-two to Angers. They have another great opportunity to go two up after Julien François gives them another penalty but this time Khaled Ayari skies it. In the sixty fifth minute, GFC Ajaccio bring on the twenty-five year old, John Tshibumbu who looks dangerous as soon as he steps foot on the pitch. Pierre Sinapi delivers the ball into the middle where Tshibumbu jumps immensely high to head the ball into the back of the net! Pierre Sinapi wins the ball deep in Gazélec’s half where he sprints forward before playing an amazing ball through the defence for John Tshibumbu who once again finds the back of the net to make it four-three! This game marks an important three points for Bee and his team!

                        Coupe de Ligue

                        GFC Ajaccio 4 – Valenciennes FC 3
                        GFC – M’Madi 13’ Tshibumbu 59’ Mayi 90’ Larbi 90’+1’
                        VAL – Le Tallec 39’ Poepon 47’ Abriel 65’

Pierre Sinapi gives the ball to John Tshibumbu who sprints down the right wing before whipping a cross into the middle where Ali M’Madi gets in front of his marker to head it past the keeper for the first goal of the game. Valenciennes equalise with Anthony Le Tallec who receives the ball from an over the top pass and all he has to do is nod it past Jules Goda and into the back of the net. Only two minutes after the second half starts and they go in front with Rydell Poepon who takes a touch from a ball over the top before beating the keeper at his near post. GFC Ajaccio make it two-two after Louis Poggi makes a great run down the right wing and delivers a great cross into the box whilst under pressure. The ball goes to the penalty spot where John Tshibumbu shows his eagerness to get the ball by rising above his maker and heading it sideward and into the bottom left corner. Tshibumbu’s scored two excellent goals in two games with headers and he’s only five foot nine! Valenciennes go ahead once again with Fabrice Abriel who controls the ball in the right corner of the penalty area before smashing it past Goda and into the far corner. Bee’s team push for an equaliser and they have a great chance with Louis Poggi but he only puts his header onto the bar. The goal finally comes in the last minute as the ball is delivered into the box by David Ducourtioux from a corner. There’s a bit of scramble before Kévin Mayi finds the ball at his feet and he manages to hit it on the half turn then past the keeper for what was a very important goal. GFC Ajaccio win the ball back instantly, Louis Poggi finds Tshibumbu on the right wing who then delivers a low cross to the near post where Mohamed Larbi can attack it. He gets enough of a touch to guide the ball past the keeper’s outstretched leg and just inside the near post. That goal allows Gazélec to advance into the next round where they’ll face Marseille.

                        MOTM: John Tshibumbu

                        DIJ – Cissé 22’
                        GFC – M’Madi 42’(PEN)

The centre back, Ousseynou Cissé, finds himself far up field and he manages to get around a challenge by Amos Youga before smashing the ball into the bottom corner for the lead. Twenty minutes later Lucas Libbra is fouled in the box and the referee gives a penalty. M’Madi steps up and he manages to smash it into the roof of the net. The only other event within the game was when GFC Ajaccio got a penalty in the last minute. John Tshibumbu aimed for the top left corner but the keeper flies across the goal to keep it out.

                        MOTM: Ali M’Madi

                        Ligue 2

                        LB Chateauroux 1 – GFC Ajaccio 2
                        CHA Roudet 45’
                        GFCTshibumbu 13’ Tshibumbu 58’

Gazélec start off well with a great through ball by M’Madi which allows John Tshibumbu to cut in front of the defender and advance towards goal. The striker manages to poke the ball with his left foot underneath the keeper for the opening goal. Sébastien Roudet spins on the edge of the penalty area before slamming the ball with his weaker foot into the top left corner where Clément Maury could never reach. In the fifty-eighth minute, Gazélec are back in the lead from a great run by Ali M’Madi down the right after beating a defender by dropping his shoulder; he then lifts the ball into the box where Tshibumbu can shuffle back a little before heading it accurately over the keeper and into the far corner. Clément Maury makes a great save in the seventieth minute to keep Chateauroux out and they kept knocking on the door as Damien Plessis puts the ball onto the crossbar but they cannot get that all important goal and Bee’s team goes away with all three points.

                        MOTM:
                        Clément Maury (12 Saves)

                        Ligue 2

                        GFC Ajaccio 1 – AC Ajaccio 0
                        GFC – Mayi 31’

I bitter rivalry starts off scrappy before Kévin Mayi gets the ball from Mohamed Larbi and then advances towards goal. He manages to get past two defenders before chipping the keeper from close range. It’s a massive goal that allows Gazélec to win the three points and it gives a great indicator that Bee is doing a great job so far! David Ducourtioux has picked up a one match ban for accumulating too many yellow cards which means he will miss the next match against Clermont Foot due to a yellow card in the sixty-first minute of the game. AC Ajaccio created many chances throughout the whole game but it always fell to a defender or an off-balance player who couldn’t finish very well.

                        MOTM:Kévin Mayi

Gazélec Ajaccio’s Player of the Month

                        John Tshibumbu
(5 Goals and 2 Assists in 4 Games)
                        MOTM's this Month = 2

To be honest, I didn’t think that John Tshibumbu was much of a goal scorer but he’s waltzed in and got five goals in four games which is topped off with two assists! In just under a month, John has gone from reserve to starter as our main forward. (I will post my new formation and starting XI in my next update.) This just shows that anyone can surprise you and that anyone can step up out of nowhere and win you a game. Ali M’Madi now has some competition for the lead striker which will make things interesting but I’m probably going to have M’Madi behind Tshibumbu in the number ten role. Hopefully their form continues!

                        Managers Thoughts:

What a month! We’re doing better than I thought we would! John Tshibumbu has been a real surprise too! The team really have pulled their heads together and they put on a show whenever they go out onto the pitch. It’s been a lot more positive since I changed the formation from 4-2-3-1 to a 5-4-1 diamond and it seems to really compliment the team due to having players in the team who are perfect for the positions in this formation.

I’ve got some selection dilemmas. The first is in goal. I’m leaning more towards Clément Maury because he resembles Simon Mignolet when he’s in good form (he’s an amazing shot stopper but usually punches the ball away instead of catching it.) Jules Goda has more room to grow but he seems a little slow. In his defence, he has only played one game so I can give him enough time to prove himself. My next dilemma is at left wing-back. It’s either the thirty-two year old Matar Fall or Yoann Andreu. Fall has good reflexes and feels quick on and off the ball but he is getting on a bit. Andreu is seven years younger (and apparently better according to his rating) but he feels slow and his work rate doesn’t show as much as Fall. Central defensive midfield is also a hot spot between David Ducourtioux and Pierre-François Sinapi. Ducourtioux has proven his worth to the team in the past but he just hasn’t been doing much. He has all the skills but I never really see them from him. Sinapi on the other hand, (despite having 54 overall) is just amazing! First of all, he’s twelve years younger than his competitor which is handy for growth. His work rate is much better than Ducourtioux; one time you’ll see him up in attack and afterwards, the opposition goes on the counter-attack and Sinapi races back to try and dispossess the player on the ball. He also has great passing ability which has gotten him a couple of assists this month.

Grégory Pujol was out for two weeks with a bruised leg! I’m guessing that’s what you get for having a thirty-four year old striker with an injury prone trait so this type of event might put Pujol out of the team for long periods at a time.

Next month does not look like difficult month, on paper... Stade Lavallois and US Orléans are both in the bottom four so we really should be expecting six points in those games but nothing ever goes exactly to plan! The rest of the month should be pretty tough but anything can happen this early in the season.

                                Match 9

                                Middlesbrough 1-2 Brentford
                                Vossen 9
                                Pritchard 66
                                Gray 69

Vossen opened the scoring for Boro, finding the back of the net from a tight angle by firing under Button. We came close to an equaliser twice in the first half, Pritchard firing just over from distance and Ibe smashing just wide after making space for himself in the box. Button made a great save to deny Clayton in stoppage time, sliding to get the ball away. Pitchard got us the equaliser when Tebar squared the ball to him and he smashed it in first time from the centre of the box beyond the keeper's outstretched arms. Gray got us the lead soon after, intercepting a poor pass and running at the vulnerable defence before finding the bottom corner with an accurate effort. Button made a great save to tip a cross-cum-shot over the bar before Pritchard fired just wide after breaking into the box.

                                Match 10

                                Brentford 0-0 Bolton
The first half was an intense midfield battle with few chances but the second half was where the action was. Bolton came straight out of the blocks charging, Davies putting just wide when played through. We got going soon after and Gray somehow sliced wide a wonderful chance. Lonergan made an excellent save to deny Pritchard from long range after the young Spurs loanee beat 4 players with his tricky footwork. The keeper made another excellent save, this time denying Gray before his one handed save denied Pritchard's powerful effort towards the top corner and grab his team a point.

                                Match 11

                                Wolves 3-3 Brentford
                                Judge 21
                                Rowe 36
                                Ibe 62
                                McDonald 85
                                Ibe 88
                                Sako 90 (PEN)

Judge opened the scoring for us against the league's second place team, calmly stroking in on the rebound of Gray's effort. Rowe equalised, heading into an empty net after the ball was crossed over Button's head. Kuszczak made an excellent save to deny Gray on the stroke of half time. Ibe gave us the lead again with a stunning 30 yard effort that bounced in off the crossbar and we should have made it 3 when Gray ran clear thanks to Bellerin's unbelievable pass, but the keeper made a terrific save. McDonald equalised from the edge of the box after a corner with Button caught in no mans land but Ibe scored again, cutting inside and stroking into the bottom corner. Wolves salvaged a draw from the spot thanks to a dubious penalty.

                                Match 12

                                Brentford 2-0 Brighton
                                Gray 27
                                Jota 90

Gray opened the scoring in this match, running onto a wonderful ball over the top by Jota and he clamly slotted in with grace. There weren't too many highlights in this match but one of them was Gray's acrobatic volley being disallowed for being slightly offside. Soon after that he missed a glorious chance to make it 2-0 before turning provider to play through Jota who smashed in for his first of the season.

                                League Cup Last 16

                                Brentford 1-0 Manchester City
                                Gray 48
The match we'd been preparing for, training for. We were welcoming the champions of England to Griffin Park. The game started out with us playing our hearts out, probably shocking City as Pritchard forced 2 good saves from Caballero in the opening half an hour. Bony forced a good save from Button before our defender had to save us when Button messed up his clearance and it bobbled to Bony in front of an empty net. We took a shock lead soon after half time, a wonderful ball through by Pritchard splitting the defence and Gray curled into the bottom corner. We sat back and absorbed all of the pressure and Button made a wonderful save in stoppage time to deny Mangala and put us in the quarter finals!
