Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
Ah okay I had a feeling I was missing something lol like I said I only watched the video once some time ago but never tried it. Oh and for the record, I DID say that even though you're gonna get the player for free you first have to be able to afford him
So for the wages trick you just convert all your budget to 100% wages and then start a new season? That's it?INACTIVEComment

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
Sunderland AFC: Nine Lives
November & December 2013 Update
November
Hull City 1-1 Sunderland
Long 20'
McShane (o.g.) 72'
A game we really ought to have won. It was unfortunate that we couldn't finish the chances we made against a side that's not in such great form.
Sunderland 1-1 Manchester City
Giaccherini 90'
Toure 78'
I think we were fortunate to come away with a point. Dire performance.
Stoke City 2-3 Sunderland
Ramos 17', N'Zonzi 71'
Giaccherini 15', Borini 48', Fletcher (pen) 77'
Such an exciting game always stands out at the end of the season. We were quite deserving of the penalty, and it was a treat to see Wickham give Fletcher the chance to end his run of eight games without a goal. The team ethic in this club is outstanding. I'm proud of my lads.
Aston Villa 2-1 Sunderland
Benteke 71', N'Zogbia 85'
Morata 30'
I don't know how the officials let the game continue in such a downpour. In fairer conditions, we would have given Villa a much tougher time of things.
December
Sunderland 1-1 Tottenham
Bridcutt 85'
Kane 64'
Some will call it lofty aspirations, but I think we should have come away with all three points. Credit to Kane for his wonderful goal, but we created far more chances than Spurs, and we deserved to win ideally.
West Ham United 2-2 Sunderland
Carroll 63', Nolan (pen) 72'
Fletcher 51', Giaccherini 90'
West Ham defended well and denied us time on the ball in the final third. I think it was poor defending for both goals, and a draw is a fair result.
Sunderland 0-0 Chelsea
We have been quite lucky this season to come away with a point in some big games against Arsenal, City, Spurs and now Chelsea. We have a wonderful shape and great organisation, but we have to work on scoring when it counts most.
Sunderland 1-1 Norwich City
Bridcutt 53'
Diouf (pen) 38'
It was never a penalty. Such a soft touch is barely even a foul, but once it's given you have to try to save it. Coming away with a point against a direct mid-table rival is not ideal. We really have to do better against opposition close to our level and position.
Everton 2-1 Sunderland
Mirallas 16', Deulofeu 68'
Morata 64'
We simply weren't good enough against this Everton side. Roberto Martinez has done a wonderful job with them, and they fully deserve this win and their top-four spot, which they look like keeping until the end of the year.
Cardiff City 1-3 Sunderland
Gunnarsson 12'
Fletcher 45', Morata 77', Giaccherini 89'
I'm glad to see we still have it in us to win the ones that count. Cardiff are fighting relegation already, and it was important for us to end our spell of six games without a win. I'm looking forward to the next game.
**********
Analysis
• To have secured almost 30 points from the first 19 games is a phenomenal achievement for us. We aren't packed with world-class talent from top to bottom, but our combination of quality and hard work has given us the security of knowing we likely won't be facing relegation in the summer.
• Loaning in Morata was a brilliant piece of business. His eight league goals have given us a lot of important points, and he has created another four. I wasn't at all convinced with Altidore in the preseason, and he will be allowed to leave now that January has come around.
• We lack first-team quality in some areas, most noticeably in goal. Mannone is a brilliant shot stopper, but he has plenty of work to do on his positioning and commanding of the box. Another area we are weak in is creative players in midfield. I hope to strengthen both in this window, but I don't mind waiting until the summer if the right players are not available at the right price.

Sunderland AFC: Nine Lives
January 2014 Update: Results & Transfers
Sunderland 4-1 Aston Villa
Giaccherini 24' 28', Johnson 59', Ki 72'
Agbonlahor 73'
I told you earlier in the season that we could take on Villa in an even setting, and we proved our mettle with victory by a healthy margin.
Sunderland 0-0 Brentford (FA Cup)
You don't ideally want to have replays against teams you should be beating, but Brentford played very well to take the deciding fixture to their home ground. Credit to their keeper for playing like a champion.
Fulham 1-2 Sunderland
Parker 57'
Morata 5', Johnson 50'
Always nice to beat a team that you didn't the first time around. I'm thrilled for the boys, especially Johnson. He's been putting in plenty of effort, and his goal today was a stunner.
Sunderland 1-1 Southampton
Bridcutt 84'
Wanyama 80'
Unfortunate that we couldn't come away with three points. I think we were the better team, but we conceded one sloppy goal and that's all it takes. We bombarded them for the last ten minutes and should have finished with two or three more goals.
Brentford 0-2 Sunderland (FA Cup)
Bridcutt 28', Morata 57'
It's always important to do well in a cup competition. Since we crashed out of the league cup, we have to go as far as we can in this one. I think our chances are good, and we took the first step today.
Sunderland 1-2 Hull City
Giaccherini 48'
Jelavic 44' 76'
Not a great result for us when we're doing so well and playing so fluidly. I can't fault the work ethic of my lads, so well done to Hull for earning the win.
Manchester City 5-0 Sunderland
Demichelis 10', Silva 20', Hamsik 49' 55', Negredo (pen) 76'
A lot of people expected us to be relegation fodder, and we've gone until the end of January without losing by such an enormous margin. Manchester City are what they are: a very good team. To lose like this at their stadium is not something we alone have done, but we have to bounce back in the next game. We have to play our way back into form.
Fulham 1-3 Sunderland (FA Cup)
Kasami 22'
Morata 27' 42', Fletcher 82'
I couldn't be prouder of the boys. After that 5-0 loss, it was crucial to get a result here. The strikers stepped up, but they were provided with incredible service from the midfield. Everyone played brilliantly, and I think we are back in the right kind of form.
**********
Transfers
• RB Ondrej Celutska to Blackburn for £550,000
• RB Phil Bardsley to Blackburn for £1,000,000
• GK Alex McCarthy from Reading for £3,500,000
• RB Kieran Trippier from Burnley for £2,500,000
• CAM Jordon Mutch from Cardiff City for £4,000,000
• LB Luke Shaw from Southampton for £6,000,000
• LW Miroslav Stoch from PAOK on a pre-contract agreement
• CM Mikkel Diskerud from Rosenborg on a pre-contract agreement
**********
Analysis
• January results were a mixture of good and bad. Some really great wins were cancelled out by the loss to Hull, and our goal difference was cut to six after that horrible loss at the Etihad. Another four or five points and we'll hit the 40-point mark we wanted to achieve as soon as possible.
• As great as it would be to win the FA Cup, I'd rather not have the added burden of the Euro League next season. The team is just starting to come together, and the packed EL schedule would make it more difficult to build on what is obviously going to be a successful year.
**********
Press Conference
Are you happy with your transfer activity?
As you know, I'm not a big fan of signing players in January. If the team is doing well, it puts pressure on them to immediately fit into that good vein of form. If the team is doing poorly, it puts pressure on them to immediately play well and lift the squad. But we are in a place where changes were necessary, and we could afford to make them.
We were able to sign both our original targets, Alex McCarthy and Jordon Mutch, at the right price. I think they will both benefit from a change of scenery, especially Jordon who has not had the best time so far this season. I was also pleased that Miroslav Stoch and Mikkel Diskerud have agreed to join us in the summer. Both are versatile players who will make us much stronger next season.
Phil Bardsley and Ondrej Celutska left with our best wishes. They were able to find clubs who could give them the game time they wanted, and we didn't want to stand in their way. The club wishes them both well.
But you lose two right backs, you're going to need to bring in a replacement. Kieran Trippier is a wonderful player with great potential, and we are lucky to have acquired his services. As for Luke Shaw (he requested a transfer away from surprise relegation candidates Southampton), signing a player of his quality was an opportunity we simply could not pass up.
What went wrong at the Etihad?
A lot of things, really. We got a bit too complacent, I think, having drawn City last time and been on a great streak over the last month. We were punished often and severely, and we didn't learn our lesson from the poor first half. City have got phenomenal resources, as evidenced by their January signings of Lukasz Piszczek and Marek Hamsik. We really should have done better.
Do you think Sunderland have a shot at the FA Cup?
Absolutely. The question is whether our fixture calendar is friendly enough to allow us ample rest. After the international break, we play three games in six days, including a crucial away derby against Newcastle. I think it's ridiculous that we're still the only league that doesn't employ the three-day rest rule as much as we can, all for the sake of broadcasting. It's absolutely insane.
In October, Jack Colback's agent said he will leave in the summer.
Jack was offered an extension on his expiring deal very early in the season, which he politely refused. Of course he has every right to do so, especially when he has refused to speak about it publicly and given 100% to the club whenever he's been selected. Would I like him to stay? Definitely, but it's not entirely in my hands. What's heartening for us is that he's not committed himself to another club, which he could have done. Right now, the focus is on finishing the season as best we can. We'll sit down with him once again when the football is done and try to work something out, but we're also prepared to accept his decision to leave if he so chooses.
What about Keiran Westwood and Craig Gardner?
Every club has to deal with players leaving for nothing. Westwood has already committed his future to Southampton, which is understandable when you're not playing regularly. Gardner has been offered a deal, the best deal the club is willing to put forth. It's up to him now to accept it or leave, but he has also shown great professionalism on the pitch. Whatever happens, we are prepared to deal with the situation.

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
Wow, your Sunderland career updates are just great! I didn't want to quote it, 'cause it's... pretty long! Keep it up! Also, could you put the league table at the end of every update?
So I got (surprise, surprise) bored of my Valencia career just before in-game December. I spent a few days thinking about a new team, but every team was kinda boring to me... after that I thought a bit and decided to start a career with Liverpool because of their good form lately. Now i'm in mid-February and I'm first in the league.
And now a question:
How do you keep interest in a career mode? I get often bored pretty quickly or just lose interest...-Simppu12-

Boom. Good idea just put your main career on standby for now. You can also gain points from completing the skill challenges before each game. You could access them from the main menu tooComment

A good youth academy keeps me interested. Especially when I have a 14 year old that already has a 70+ overall and 88-90 potential. Makes you want to keep going to get him to age 16 and promote him!
*This was in a Leeds Career I made on FIFA 13 last year and unfortunately I was never able to promote him. When he was just 15 years old, I accidentally deleted the career file. We could have achieved great things together :'(Comment

Set yourself challenges. For example, get a 88+ potential youth player for goalkeeper, defence, midfield and forward.
Keep it realistic. Try only signing players that are linked or have been linked with the club
Challenge yourself. Up the difficulty to legendary and use a relegation battling team and try to stay up WHILE keeping it realistic and scouting for youth. It's very challenging but VERY rewarding if you pull it off after 2-4 seasons you should have a decent team that can challenge for top 7 in the league
Move on. When you get bored of a team, apply for a job at another team and rebuild them. (To know how to get good job offers go to YouTube then search "how to get good job offers canisports", that should help you out massively)
If using an already established club try to sell all your players over 30 years of age, no matter how good they are. Then set a challenge of ONLY signing players under 20 years of age and only pre-contract players. That should limit your options and would take longer for you to dominate the footballing world.
Take a club with nice history and by doing all this it will be very enjoyable. Hull City should be fun for the relegation battle while Santos from Brazil should be nice for the youth project (they have a tendency to discover great talents like Neymar, Pele and Alex)
Also when playing with a team try to replicate their style of play, For example if playing with Stoke use a lot of over the top through balls and when playing with Bayern play possession football while Real Madrid is a great counter-attacking team.
Another way to make it enjoyable is to take the style of the team and slowly transform it into your playing style by buying players that suit your style. For example if you like possession football and are playing with Stoke then buy players like Ruben Pardo from Real Sociedad (great young passer) and build your team around someone like him or a star player
Also try managing an International team for big tournaments like the World Cup, Euro and South American Cup but resign after the tournament and take an offer from a new international team for the next tournament.
Something I REALLY enjoyed was putting Shakhtar Donetsk in the Premier League and setting myself the challenge of only buying Brazilian skill players and focusing my playing style around skilling. It's challenging to win seeing that I am not a very good skiller(spam the right analog is my style 😁but enjoyable when you score some sensational skill goals that you hardly meant to happen 😄
Pleas Note!: if Ronaldinho is in your team you are not allowed to sell him because I said so 😝
I hope this helps you make your career more enjoyable

Great tip and if you follow this then ONLY SIGN YOUTH PLAYERS ON THE 1st OF MAY!
This is when they suddenly decide to become beasts in your youth academy and their estimated overall increases massively. When they request to be promoted or they are leaving, exit the career mode and load your save from a few days ago (this is why it's important to keep saving consistently, I always save after every game or big transfer so I don't have to redo it because of the youth players requesting to leave) then advance one day and save every day for about a week in-game then they shouldn't request to leave anymore. It's very time consuming and you need to be patient but it's worth it in the long run because the youth player will be brilliant if you offer them a contract on the 1st of May
I hope this helps!

2. I used to play D&D when I was a kid, so role-playing helps keep my interest up. Maybe you could come up with a unique scenario for your club and try to work within that scenario?Comment
