        Season 2
        October 2016

        Season Objectives:

The Domestic Cup objective is to reach the Semifinal.
The League objective qualify for the Champions Cup.
The European Cup objective is to reach the Final.

        BPL Match
        Derby 0 - 1 Newcastle
        Perez 43’

        MOTM Perez (NEW)

We got a close win against a side that haven’t won a league game yet this season. Perez scored the only goal of the game just before halftime when he was chipped over the top and was able to finish to the right side of the goal.

        Perez’s goal.

        BPL Match
        Everton 1 - 2 Newcastle
        Townsend 37’
        Sanches 58’
        Baines 76’ (PEN)

        MOTM Krul

Townsend opened the scoring when his shot went in even after Howard got his hand to it. We scored another one just before the hour mark. Sanches was able to score a header right after his previous one had been blocked off the line. Everton pulled one back through Baines from the spot after he was pulled down from Moreno.

        European Cup Match
        Newcastle 0 - 2 Olympiakos
        Fortounis 24’
        Ideye 76’

        MOTM Botia (OLY)

Our first competitive loss this season. The first goal came from a good play that resulted in Fortounis having a shot that went in the near post. The second was a magnificent volley that I’m not sure Ideye could ever hit again.

        BPL Match
        Leicester 0 - 0 Newcastle
        King 3’ (RED)

        MOTM Hamer (LEI)

Very very disappointed that we couldn’t get a win after they went down to ten men after only three minutes. Thats pretty much all there is, we just didn’t play well at all.

        Capital One Cup
        Newcastle 1 - 2 Aston Villa
        Niang 29’
        Adama 51’
        Ayew 80’

        MOTM Guzan (AVL)

Out of the cup already. We went ahead just before the half hour with Niang scored with a diving header. Aston Villa equalized through their young spanish winger when the ball was played back and he powered the shot past Krul. Ayew scored the winner ten minutes before full time with a powerful header that Krul got a hand to but was unable to keep out. Guzan full deserved MOTM after letting only one goal in despite being under constant pressure throughout the entire match.

        BPL Match
        Newcastle 0 - 0 Arsenal

        MOTM Krul

A tough game that had to the two best defensive teams playing each other so I’m not all that surprised to see no goals in this game. There was no real outstanding player but Krul earned MOTM for the last minute save he made on Sanchez.

        Best defensive teams.

          Bulgaria

          The Squad

          Spoiler

          The Group

          Bulgaria
          Czech Republic
          Wales
          Greece

          UEFA Euro 2016

          Bulgaria 2 - 2 Wales
          Chochev 12', Berbatov 89' pen
          Davies 24', MacDonald 30'

Our Euro 2016 campaign started off with a pleasing draw against a strong Wales squad. Our central midfielder Ivaylo Chochev put us into the lead only twelve minutes into the game with a curled shot into the bottom right corner. Another twelve minutes went by and Ben Davies managed to equalise with the first of many headers we conceded. Wales even got into the lead with MacDonald's gorgeous long shot and for the majority of the remaining game it looked like the game would remain that way but in the final minutes of the game the legend Dimitar Berbatov pulled as back on level from the penalty spot.

          Czech Republic 2 - 3 Bulgaria
          Suchy 42', Kolar 90' pen
          Berbatov 25', 56', Chochev 45'

A strong first-half performance was all we needed to get the valuable three points from this match. Dimitar Berbatov opened the scoreline with a well-taken shot from the edge of the box right before the half an hour mark and Ivaylo Chochev put us back into the lead right before the break after Marcel Suchy had equalised a few minutes earlier with a header. In stoppage time Daniel Kolar slotted his penalty to shrink our lead to just one goal but it wasn't enough for the Czech Republic as we managed to hold on to our lead.

          Bulgaria 2 - 1 Greece
          Chochev 44', Galabinov 79'
          Fourtounis 76'

A draw would've been enough for us to progress but we still wanted to beat our southern neighbours. Ivaylo Chochev put us into the lead with his third goal in three games and things were looking good for half an hour until Fourtounis equalised with a header. We still wanted the win and Adrey Galabinov got the winner just a couple of minutes later with a powerful shot inside the box. This win secured our place as first in the group. Furthermore, we are facing the host nation France in the quarter finals.

          The Group

          1. Bulgaria, 7 pts
          2. Wales, 5 pts
          3. Czech Republic, 3 pts
          4. Greece, 1 pt

          QuarterFinal
          Bulgaria 4 - 3 France
          Chochev 36', Nedelev 79', Galabinov 95', 117'
          Sissoko 45', Sagna 90', Payet 99'

Our strategy for this game was to park the bus and attack France on the counter and it worked brilliantly! Wel, maybe not brilliantly as we conceded three goals, but other than that everything was great! We had four shots, all of which on target and all of them found their way into the back of the net. Once again Ivaylo Chochev opened the scoreline with a first-time shot inside the box. The lead lasted only ten minutes as Moussa Sissoko equalised with - sigh - a header. The scoreline stayed the same until the 79th minute when Todor Nedelev put us back into the lead. Just like the first time, it took France ten minutes to equalise the game with a Sagna - say it with me - header. The game then went onto extra time and Galabinov's tap in put us into the lead for the third time. A couple of minutes later Dimitri Payet equalised the game, also for the third time. Galabinov hadn't had enough of scoring against the host nation, though, and he went ahead to get a brace to put us into the lead for the fourth time. This fourth time was too much for France and we managed to knock them out!

          Semi Final
          Bulgaria 3 - 2 The Netherlands
          Tonev 39', Cillesen OG 116', Micanski 119'
          Van Persie 42', Robben 110'

We have done it, we are through to the Euro 2016 final! After another buss-parking and counter-attacking game we made it through to the final! We scored first again, this time from a corner, but once again the lead lasted only a handful of minutes as Robin van Persie equalised with a magnificent long shot. We then defended for the remaining game right up until the 110th minute, when Holland took the lead thanks to a Robben header. We then went all out attacking and our efforts paid off as Jasper Cillesen scored the second-most absurd own goal I have seen on this game. The ball was played back to him by his own defender and somehow the Dutch keeper let the ball go through his legs, right over the goal line. The worst was yet to come, though: in the 119th minute Iliyan Micanski was played through one-on-one and our striker got us the winning goal to secure our place in the final! Belgium, we are ready for you! Also, I should probably mention that Dyakov and the Minev brothers retired before this game. Additionally, Dimitar Berbatov disappeared from the squad even though he didn't retire. Strange.

          Spoiler

Remember when I mentioned Bayer Leverkusen and their nickname 'Neverkusen' after losing the finals of the Copa del Rey and the Europa League? I feel like the issue is not the team but the manager. On a more serious note, though, every fairy tale comes to its end and I'm extremely proud of our performances in the Euros. No-one expected us to reach the finals but we proved everyone wrong.

A quick recap about the game: we parked the bus and tried to play on the counter again but Belgium was too good. Kevin Mirallas put them into the lead with a tap in that followed a corner in the 22nd minute and around five minutes later Dries Mertens headed (as if there's anything surprising about that) the ball into the net to double their lead. Romelu Lukaku then added a third on in the 82nd minute before Ivelin Popov got us a consolation goal.

          Golden Boot

          Ivaylo Chochev, Bulgaria, 4 goals
Bas Dost, the Netherlands, 3 goals
          Mesut Özil, Germany, 3 goals

          Most Assists

Davy Pröpper, the Netherlands, 3 assists
          Mihail Aleksandrov, Bulgaria, 3 assists
          Ben Davies, Wales, 2 assists

          Golden Glove

Jack Butland, England, 3 clean sheets
Wojciech Szczęsny, Poland, 3 clean sheets
Jasper Cillesen, the Netherlands, 2 clean sheets

          My Thoughts

What a tournament we had! I believed in our chances of reaching the knock-out stages but I didn't expect us to make it all the way to the final, especially when Robben put Holland ahead in the semi final. Luckily Jasper Cillesen scored a ridiculous own goal to equalise the game. Of course I am a bit bitter that we didn't really stand a chance against Belgium in the final but we still put up a hell of performances. We had a great competition and I'm very proud of the team.

The only issue I had was that Berbatov disappared from our squad midway through the competition. A couple of players retired with him not being one of them but he still went missing. I was able to call him up for World Cup qualifiers in September so I guess that he got kidnapped or homesick or something.

As I just mentioned, our qualifying campaign for the 2018 World Cup starts in September. Until then I have a pre-season tournament, the Supercopa de España against Barcelona and a league game against Las Palmas with Athletic.

Thank you for reading this post! I hope you have enjoyed it! Any feedback or suggestions will be appreciated!

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

              * sportsfreak: I voted for Boavista.

              * Simp: Really nice run with Bulgaria in the EURO. No shame in losing to a loaded Belgium squad in the final. I think one positive you can take out of all the 2nd places with Bilbao this season is that they'll make you that much more hungrier for next season, you're gonna bring that anger-bang.

              * Yanks: Solid October and a great run so far in the BPL (UNDEFEATED) but you messed with me and didn't give me the Europe League standings which is a big no-no. Also sucked to see you lost to AV in the COC but you have bigger fish to fry.

              * Moose: The joy from the win at Chelsea was short-lived due to that loss at WBA. That was with no Berahino/Rondon too so that was shocking, but we all get those inexplicable L's from time to time.

*SMH: A lot of solid signings with Urel, I especially liked Zobnin's since he has potential in the high 70's. All the players you resigned were good calls too, you're creating really good depth for your squad and the upcoming season. You're getting ridiculous at Mallorca beating both Real and Barca in the CDR on your way to the final, I have very little doubt you'll take that cup home with you. You still doing that Palermo CM? 3 CM's seems like a lot.

              * MM5 - Rough 3-game stretch with no wins but you competed hard in every match and that has value, shows you're gonna turn it around pretty soon. It's still early in the season so you have plenty of chance to work your way to the top 6.

              * Indi: Admirable season pushing Chelsea till the end for the BPL title, 2nd place is an amazing feat with Sunderland even with the squad you were able to assemble. I wish were playing an online season and I could get Butland from you for a nice fee since you're so unhappy with him lol. That's a solid budget for next season, you can work with that.

              * 10: I had to do a double take to make sure you indeed lost to Chelsea because up to that point you were smacking fools left and right. It was nice to see you bounce back with an exciting win over Bayern followed by a couple of strong wins in England. I hope you can wrap up that spot in quarter-finals in the CL in the next update.

              * Keano: Massive job getting back-to-back wins against the Manchesters to close out the month. You're lurking for a top-5 spot which is good. I think you can take care of Genoa one last time to get the top spot in your EL group.

If you guys were in summer of season 3, and your entire squad was on point to a level where you'd be happy if you made no further signings or sales, and your GTN and youth scouts were sorted, but you still had about £12 million in the bank, who would you sign? Basically a luxury. Any position.

Dani Ceballos/ Dani Pacheco from Real Betis would be solid depth wingers/ CAM's(in Ceballos's case) for your squad and Ceballos gets up as high as 87 OVR in some cases

Indi - I'd pick Vladimir Darida because he's an amazing player both in real life and in-game. He's good at basically everything and he has amazing stamina. Also, he plays for Hertha which is a huge plus.

Moose - It really was very surprising to see you lose against West Brom after beating Chelsea. Well done to progress into the FA Cup semi finals thanks to what was an incredible free kick by Lacazette who is probably loving playing against Everton after his performances against them. Good draw against Arsenal, too. Lacazette is already becoming a vital part of the team.

Sportsie - Great to see that you are continuing with FIFA! My vote went to Boavista because I'd like to see the Portuguese league represented on this thread.

Yanks - To be honest, I am a bit surprised that you are in the top three after rough couple of months but you are also undefeated in the league which is great! Your strong defence has really stepped up as, surprisingly, scoring has still been issue. Shame about getting knocked out of the Capital One Cup but at least you will have an easier schedule.

SMH - All of the players you signed for Ural are players I've never heard of but judging by their overalls and ages you are getting some good squad depth. Good luck this season!

As far as Mallorca goes, you are still unbelievably dominant in the league. The Copa del Rey is going similarly, even though both Real and Barca played against you. Magnificent job eliminating both of the giants!

Rabbit - What an amazing first month with Kayseri, top of the table and only one conceded goal! Türüc was on fire the whole month and he will probably lead your team to glory this season. Amazingly done to beat Galatasaray, too!

Basically a luxury. Any position.

Thanks Simp, I'm doing a test run with Mersin before starting the Actual series(with a different team, I wanted to get a feel for what I'm in for with using only youth academy/regen players) also I may revive my Betis series(not sure yet)

I cant believe I left the table out! It will most certainly be in the next one don't you worry.

I am too if I'm completely honest, needless to say our defense is the main reason though. I wish I knew the problem with our scoring but I just can't seem to put my finger on whats wrong.
