Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
Hey Guys how are you all? Remember me? :P. Wouldn't be surprised if you didn't. I haven't been on this thread in ages!!! I completely lost interest with FIFA 16 and played a ton of NBA 2K16. However, after watching the Euros I started to enjoy the game. I have also started University and have been working a ton. Anyway I have time and have found my enjoyment for FIFA 16 so to round out the game I want to achieve at least one Career Mode. I've thought of three teams I want to do a RTG with. Hopefully it will last!!!
Here's a little backstory about each team
Wolverhampton Wanderers
A young squad who achieved an impressive 7th placed finish. Kenny Jackett, due to Mutual Consent has left his role as the manager of the Wolves. With many of the players having big futures in football, promotion is essential in order to keep these players. Who will take Jackett's place and take Wolverhampton back to the Premier League after their decline.
Key Points
- Secure Promotion or fight or it (really depends on the boards goals)
- Develop current young talent
- Sign young cheap players with potential (Moneyball)
- Build their already strong academy
Walsall FC
Finishing a disappointing 14th in the 2014/15 season, Walsall legend Dean Smith has been sacked from The Saddlers. The club believed that the club wasn't progressing to the higher ranks of the English system. Fan's have been left a little upset and concerned about these goals with Walsall being a small club in the West Midlands region and have never played top flight football. With the redevelopments of the ground and the added financial support. The club may see future glory in the higher grades of the English system
Key Points
- Secure top flight football in 5 years
- Compete for the top 4 in 10 years
- Develop and play the youth
- Build the club along with the new stadium.
Notts County
The oldest football club in the world has hit rock bottom. Relegated to League 2. Manager Ricardo Moniz has resigned leaving a vacant spot 17 days into the transfer window. Releasing 14 players and signing another 16 players the club has had a huge overhaul owner and chairman Ray Trew has been active, even without a manager. Reports from the club believe that former manager Moniz had an outing with Trew about the decision making of signings and the lack of input. Trew's biggest challenge is now finding a manager that can use these players and promote the club back to the higher ranks.
Key Points
- Promotion from League 2 straight away.
- consistent promotion to each league 3 years average.
- Build youth academy

Barclays Premier League (17/08)
Manchester City | 2-0 | Newcastle Utd
38’ Wickham || 61’ Hiwula
A beautiful cross in by Cornacchia and a beautiful looping header from Connor Wickham which his marker, Mamadou Sané couldn’t handle opened the score. Just after the hour mark, Jordi Hiwula received the ball on the left corner of the box where he opens up some space between him and his numerous markers for a snapshot along the floor which O’Hara sees late and that was that.
Keita was the only player on the pitch which really wanted to get back into the game and that says a lot about how important he will be this campaign. New Manchester City signing José Sá made some great saves to keep our winger out and earned man of the match for it. The fans will not be happy with the poor performance today.
MotM: José Sá (8.7) (9 Saves)
Barclays Premier League (24/08)
Newcastle | 2-0 | Stoke City
12’ Lorentzson (Gallego) || 15’ Vivian (Mandanne)
Lorentzson receives the ball from Gallego on the corner of the box. The Swede skips around before suddenly nudging the ball to the left and blasting a shot into the bottom corner. Mervan Lorentszson has marked his debut off with a stunning left-footed goal!
A blocked Lorentzson cross loops in the air and drops onto the head of Alassane Mandanne whose header takes a bounce in the box before Coradini Vivian strikes the ball hard with his weaker foot first time into the far bottom corner; it’s a magnificently taken goal!
We were utterly dominant compared to what had happened last match with 22 shots overall with 15 on target compared to Stoke’s one shot.
MotM: Armin Grahovac (8.8) (19 Saves)
Barclays Premier League (27/08)
Fulham | 0-5 | Newcastle
29’, 65’ Ayala || 32’ Sané || 68’ Seager || 79’ Ashton (Angella)
We’re back!
MotM: Jesús Sanchez Ayala (9.8)
Copa Europe (30/08)
Bayern Munich | 1-3 | Newcastle Utd
35’ Müller
4’ Hajrović || 20’ Lorentzson (Keita) || 70’ Keita (Lorentzson)
Brendan Galloway wins a free-kick to the left about 30 yards out and Izet Hajrović pulls off a special free-kick with pinpoint accuracy for an early goal after 4 minutes.
A Keita corner misses everyone on the penalty spot but falls to Lorentzson at the back post who takes a touch which finds its way through two Bayern defenders allowing the Swede to smash the ball low on the volley and under Neuer for the second goal after 20 minutes.
We receive a reality check as Thiago has a shot which O’Hara superbly saves but Thomas Müller climbs above Conor Compton at the back post to head home the rebound.
With half an hour left, Hajrović floats the ball over the defence and onto the run of Lorentzson who manages to fend off his marker before making his way to the by-line and delivering a low cross to the unmarked Keita who slots home and easy finish.

We’re back!
MotM: Nicolò Angella (8.1)
Barclays Premier League (14/09)
Newcastle | 0-0 | Chelsea
We were evenly matched in this game. The most notable chances where a Lorentzson curling shot that went just high and wide and a Conor Compton shot from the right that hit both of the posts but just didn’t cross the line.
MotM: Adem Mitrović (7.2)
Champions League Group Stage (17/09)
Newcastle | 4-1 | Galatasaray
15’, 21’ Lorentzson || 31’ Loftus-Cheek || 50’ Vivian (Angella)
57’ Bruma
Why did they play a left winger in goal? We simply had to get shots on target to force their ‘keeper’ into uncomfortable saves and we eventually scored and kept scoring.
MotM: Cédric Thauvin (7.9)
Barclays Premier League (21/09)
Exeter City | 0-1 | Newcastle
78’ Guidetti (PEN)
It was a close one! A very boring first half saw each team cancel each other out. In the second half both Tielemans and Gallego hit the post/crossbar and Terzi mad a magnificent save to keep out Seager who had managed to get his toe to a low cross. In the 78th minute, Seager drew a foul in from Mustafi which the ref pointed to the spot for. Guidetti’s penalty wasn’t taken very well but it did the job for us to get the full three points.
MotM: Shkodran Mustafi (6.8)
Conor Compton has suffered a hyper extended knee and will be out for 4 weeks.
Capital One Cup Round 3 (24/09)
Sunderland | 1-2 | Newcastle

Cabee’s Thoughts:
New Signings - All the new additions have really improved the club as a whole! We still have a few consistency issues but that's to be expected at the start of the season with all the newbies fitting in.
Results - Our first match against Manchester City was such a disappointment. All the hype leading into the game for us was turned into shock as Wickham opened up their lead with a well executed header. After that, we bounced back well with a 3-1 win over German giants Bayern Munich and a 1-0 win over Exeter.
We're a bit uneasy on points in our group in the Champions League after the 1-0 loss to Bayer Leverkusen but I still think we will be able to advance through despite the setback.
The 7-2 win over Liverpool was something very unexpected, especially after they took an early lead. I don't really know what happened but I guess we were relentlessly attacking and Liverpool quickly lost hope of a comeback.
League Table - Interesting league table at the moment! Romelu Lukaku has shot Exeter up the ladder by leading the goalscoring charts which is honestly quite nice to see. Pablo Rodríguez has been immense after just popping up on the scene from what looks like Swansea's under-21 side. The kid definitely has a bright future ahead of him! (I believe he's a Gonzalo Higuain regen)
Ben Campbell - Another potentially world class goalkeeper in our youth academy! Can't wait to see how good he is when I bring him into the senior team at the end of the year!

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
Season 1
The Sky Blues
March 2016
Back to the F.A. Cup now, but having gone all out for the Capital One Cup final just two days ago, this one is unfortunately going to be up to a lot of our reserves. Even worse yet, we have to go play it away. They will probably use a 4-2-3-1 again, and we will also once again use our 4-3-2-1. Armstrong makes his return to the starting XI, and this will really be his chance to earn his spot back. Maddison and Thomas both come in at the advanced midfield spots with Vincelot getting another run in the holding position. We replaced both wingers as well and brought in Ariyibi and Jones to play on the outside. The entire back line gets adjustments as well aside from Andy Taylor who will have to play on tired legs since we lost Stokes to injury for 3 weeks.
F.A. Cup Round of 16 Replay
Swansea City (2) 2 - 2 (4) Coventry City
SWA - Paloschi 11', Montero 68'
COV - Maddison 45' (PEN), Thomas 63'
MOTM: Leutwiler
Swansea took control early off of a corner when Paloschi headed it in as they looked to assert their dominance right away. And it looked like that was going to be how it played out until Neil Taylor made a terrible decision to slide through Conor Thomas in the box and got himself sent off while Maddison converted the ensuing penalty to equalizer heading into the break. With the man advantage we got a little more confident and finally exploited the holes in their defense when Thomas slid in to take the lead. But of course, we can't have nice things and just 5 minutes later, 10 men and all, Jefferson Montero equalized and it awakened Swansea once again. They took control back and all I could do was cover my eyes and pray for extra time. The football gods heard my prayers and we limped into the extra periods. After 30 minutes had played out neither side managed to do much and this one was going to be decided by penalties. Swansea kicked first and Gomis slotted his away and Maddison answered right back with one of his own. Next up Ki Sung Yeung smashed his shot off the left post and Armstrong made them pay when he converted his own shot. Ayew stepped up and he too found the woodwork, hitting his off the crossbar while Ricketts calmly scored his to put the pressure on Swansea. Montero, one of the goal scorers, was next up for Swansea and he left little doubt and converted his. It came to Fortune with a chance to send us through and he used a hesitation in his run up and fired the ball at the goal. The keeper guessed correctly, but he went low and Fortune went high and we were off to the quarter finals! It took a lot of luck with a red card and two shots off the woodwork in the shootout, but all that matters is the final result.
Southend, we've played them twice so far this season and we lost one and won the other. The loss we tried a 5-3-2 that was a complete disaster and we won't be making that mistake again. I will stick with our familiar 4-3-2-1 in this one and our goal will be to overload the space in the midfield as a result of their wide diamond formation. Fortune is back in the lineup after Armstrong failed to score once again in his chance at redemption, and we pretty much return our first choice lineup all the way around with Ricketts keeping his place on the back line after a solid showing from him last match.
Coventry City 0 - 0 Southend United
MOTM: Leutwiler
I don't know what it is about these guys, but they just gives us trouble. Just like the first time we played them, we dominated them all over the field, but we just couldn't score. Luckily this time they didn't trouble us much so we didn't take a loss. Still this is just baffling how we always play so well against them, yet struggle to put the ball in the net.
Fleetwood Town comes next, and we are looking to take out our post Southend frustrations. They are sitting just 1 spot ahead of relegation so they will likely be fighting tooth and nail for this one. Their 4-3-3 formation also poses a threat with a lot of attacking power, but it leaves their wings wide open for counter attacks. We will use a 4-2-2-2 and focus our efforts on the outsides. This also gives us a chance to play both Armstrong and Fortune together and hope that one of them will separate themselves from the other.
Fleetwood Town 1 - 1 Coventry City
FLE - Haughton 45'
COV - Hunt 87'
MOTM: Hunt
And Fleetwood came out and punched us right in the mouth. We sat comfortably on the ball throughout the match, but just before half a great cross and a strong header from Haughton put Fleetwood ahead, and us on our back foot. At half I looked them all in the eyes and and ripped into them. And we came out firing, but still it was all for nothing. But with just minutes remaining we drew a foul just outside of the box and it was the substitute Hunt that stood over it and sent it flying over the wall and curling into the top corner to save us the draw. We should have done so much more in this one, but we were lucky to escape with anything.
The F.A. Cup Quarter Final. This is big, and despite having made a successful run in the league cup, the F.A. Cup is a much grander stage. We drew Tottenham for this round, and as luck would have it, we will be playing in their stadium. Tottenham use a 4-2-3-1 which seems to be the formation of choice for the Premier League. We've had some Premier League opponents so far, but this will be our toughest one. I decide to go with our common 4-3-2-1. Armstrong will be given a chance up top, with Murphy and Lameiras occupying the wings. Joe Cole and Andy Rose will be our advanced midfielders and it will be up to them to link the entire game together and try to help us win the midfield. Vincelot is our holding mid and he will be tasked with limiting their attacking mid and leave their striker on an island against our central pairing of Stephens and Ricketts. Taylor and Lorentzson round out the lineup as our outside defenders and the entire back line will have to step up to this challenge.
Capital One Cup Quarter Final
Tottenham Hotspur 1 - 5 Coventry City
TOT - Dembele 74'
COV - Cole 5', Murphy 41', Armstrong 62', Gadzhev 82', 90'
MOTM: Ricketts
I don't even know how to explain what just happened. The skies opened up, a ray of sunlight shined down, and we started scoring. And we never stopped. Joe Cole opened it up with a stunning free kick and that angered the Spurs. It angered them so much that in the 34th minute Dier lost the ball to Joe Cole and he immediately slid in with a horrid challenge and he was sent off as a result. The match had no completely changed. We had a goal advantage, and they were down to 10 men. Murphy made it 2 before half and we went into the break in complete control. The onslaught continued with a great ball by Rose up to Armstrong and he finally broke his drought to add a third to the scoreline. Dembele pulled one back for the Spurs but I didn't care, this one was ours and we weren't going to let it slip away. And sure enough, Gadzhev subbed on and scored a free kick of his own before adding a tap in just before the final whistle to complete the thorough beat down in front of their own crowd. I'm not going to lie, there was no way that even I could have predicted this one.
I am buzzing right now, but it's time to get back to league play. If we want to stay on top of the table then we have to beat Blackpool. They generally run a flat 4-4-2 and I will send out a 4-2-3-1 to match it. The two holding midfielders will help to make life difficult for the pair of forwards, and we maintain our numbers to still end up with midfield superiority. Having just played two days earlier though we make changes all around to give everyone some rest. Only Ricketts and Leutwiler will keep their spots in the lineup. We had to commit to the cup tie, but we still need this one to hold our spot, let's hope that the reserves can get it done.
Coventry City 1 - 0 Blackpool FC
COV - White 32' (OG)
MOTM: Thomas
Well, we definitely deserved to lose that one. Blackpool out possessed us, they out shot us, and they dominated us from the start. Still, they knocked the ball into their own net and we ended up with the win. Despite our lack of attack, we held strong at the back and kept them off of the score sheet after taking the lead. So we will take 3 points and not ask any questions. Let's hope we improve since we won't get lucky like that again.
I think it's safe to say that own goals won't be something to rely on. Luckily it was our reserves that played in the last one, so with our starters getting back into the lineup we should be able to create more opportunities. Sheffield United are no pushovers though and they are sitting 6th in the table trying to keep their spot in the playoffs. They run a 5-3-2 and as we've noted in the past, those formations are susceptible to attacks down the wings. I choose to match their 3 man midfield and send out a 4-5-1 which will focus mainly on moving the ball down the wings. Our first choice XI all come back in with the exception of the injured Reida Johnson. This will be a good test to make sure we are on the right track.
Coventry City 4 - 0 Sheffield United
COV - Armstrong 9', Maddison 38', Vincelot 90', Fleck 90'
MOTM: Ricketts
That went as well as we could have hoped. The game plan went off without a hitch and even though we lost the possession battle, our strategy of attacking down the wings doesn't exactly play to that concept. Still, we peppered their goal with shot after shot and in the end we sent 4 through. Armstrong started it off early and Maddison added a second before the half was over. It looked like we would settle at 2, but Armstrong had a pair of shots in the 90th minute saved, and each one fell to one of our players for a first time finish as the keeper was still on the ground. A Millwall draw only added to our joy as we moved 2 points clear of them to stay at the top all by ourselves.
We travel to Bury for our next match and they are a bottom half team that are safe from relegation, but have nothing left to fight for. Still, these are the type of teams that can ruin a season for their opponents. Bury will field a flat 4-4-2 and just as we did against Blackpool, we will use a 4-2-3-1. Our XI remains nearly unchanged from last match, except Stokes is in for Taylor on the left side of the defense, old man Joe Cole comes in for Maddison at the 10, and Martins will take the place of Ricketts in the center of the defense while he plays for his country.
Bury FC 0 - 2 Coventry City
COV - Cole 33', Rose 71'
MOTM: Leutwiler
It feels good to take care of business. Joe Cole opened it in the first half with a little bit of luck off a deflection, and Rose hit a stunner in the second half to wrap it all up. On top of that, we truly dominated the entire match and finally won a possession battle which was nice. We should have probably scored more, but a 2 goal result is nothing to be ashamed of. With one match left this month, we are looking pretty good.
Let's see if we can close out the month on top. Gillingham is what stands in the way of us making that happen, and once I saw this fixture I got a little excited. They run a 4-4-2 narrow diamond which is one of my favorite formations to play against since it just gives me loads of space to have my wingers rampage down the flanks. I put together a 4-5-1 and we play most of our starters except for the midfield that was a bit more exhausted than the others. Maddison, Fleck, and Thomas each get the nod there, but the focus will be on the outside in this one so that shouldn't matter too much.
Gillingham FC 1 - 2 Coventry City
GIL - Dack 55' (PEN)
COV - Fleck 2', Jones 59'
MOTM: Leutwiler
The refs did their best, but we still won anyway. It's been a while since I had seen such a 1 sided game from the refs like that. They offered my players no protection and barely let us get close enough to an opponent to sneeze on them. Still, we started it off quick, playing it down the wing and Fleck scored off of a cross from the outside. Nothing much happened until the second half outside of them kicking us over and over again with no calls in our favor. Then the refs took it to a new level and they pointed to the spot leaving me completely baffled as to what they were calling. Nonetheless Dack converted the penalty and we found ourselves even. All that did was motivate us though and not 5 minutes later Jones scored after collecting a loose ball after their defender clashed through our man with the ball, but luckily fortune fell in our favor on that one and he slotted it home for the deciding goal. To really emphasize how this game went, we lost Murphy to a terrible tackle that of course had no foul called. We finished the month on top, but boy are we limping after that one.
Youth Academy
This month our scout took off to Ireland to continue his tour for prospects. He's actually done a very impressive job so far in England and Scotland, so we have high hopes for what he will bring us once again. The first month provided nothing of note though, but there are still 2 more months left to find some talent.

Transfers Out
Sandro Wagner, Striker, 75 Ovr, €5,000,000 to FC Lorient
The 29-year-old striker spent only five months at the club, and during those five months he failed to hit the back of the net even once. Wagner was simply useless out on the pitch and we ran out of patience with him.
Transfers In
Davie Selke
73 Ovr, Striker, 22 Years Old, Germany
€6,900,000
VfB Stuttgart were fast to replace their summer transfer flop Sandro Wagner as they announced the capture of German striker talent Davie Selke only two days after Wagner had been sold. The 22-year-old Selke made his debut for Werder Bremen in 2013, which was followed by some goals and a very controversial move to RB Leipzig in 2015. Selke helped Leipzig achieve promotion to the top tier of German football in 2016, but in the following season his side got relegated back to the second division. Now the strong and capable goalscorer is hoping to live up to his potential at surprise of the season Stuttgart, who are second in the Bundesliga.
January 2018
SC Freiburg 1 - 1 VfB Stuttgart
Niederlechner 5'
Dzsudzsák 73'
Our first game on Legendary could've ended better for us as we had several, or eight, good opportunities to score in the game. Niederlechner put the home side into the lead very early on with a powerful near-post strike. We managed to equalise with Balázs Dzsudzsák's curling effort twenty minutes before the fulltime whistle.
VfB Stuttgart 2 - 1 Borussia Dortmund
Wood 12', Dzsudzsák 51' pen
Pato 30'
Second game on Legendary against a top team and boom - we beat them. Somehow Dortmund never really looked confident on the ball and I guess we just wanted the victory more than them. Bobby Wood's counter attack goal and Dzsudzsák's well taken penalty were enough to secure us the win.

My Thoughts
Form - Tieing with Freiburg was a slight upset but the win against BVB after that was great. I also adjusted some sliders in the CPU's favour after that win because, quite ironically, after turning the difficulty up the point gap between us and third-placed Hertha has grown instead of getting smaller.
Transfers - I was very happy when Lorient accepted our counter offer of 5M for Sandro Wagner because it meant that we were getting rid of him. He was completely useless for us, getting only a single assist in eight or nine appearances, and he spent the last couple of months rotting in the reserves.
With one striker gone I decided that it would be good to bring another striker in. We made several offers for Hoffenheim's Mark Uth, Frankfurt's Luc Castaignos and Haris Seferovic, and AZ Alkmaar's Vincent Janssen, but after some failed deals for one reason or another we decided that the young Selke would be the best option for us. He is well-suited for our target striker role and now I just hope that he lives up to expectations.
All of the three most expensive transfers of the window involved Bayern München. They signed Real Madrid's James Rodriguez for €115M (!), even though they have the likes of Mesut Özil and Mario Götze, and if that wasn't enough they went ahead and signed David Silva for €55M. Bayern also sold Robert Lewandowski to Chelsea for €76M, which makes me question their remaining fire power, although I think they still have Thomas Müller.
February - The first game of February is a very important (for me personally) game against Hertha BSC at the beautiful Olympiastadion away from home. After that we face our bogey team Hannover at home, which is then followed by a Europa League match against Saint-Etienne. After a trip to Augsburg we have the second leg of the Europa League fixture at home. We will get only a day of rest after the game against the French side before we play against Werder Bremen. The month is finished off with a game against a solid Schalke 04 side.
Thank you for reading this post! I hope you have enjoyed it! Any feedback or suggestions will be appreciated!

February 2018
Hertha BSC 2 - 1 VfB Stuttgart
Ibisevic 44', Kalou 70' pen
Zwolinski 31'
A very unfortunate loss for us against third-placed Hertha. We took the lead after the half an hour mark thanks to Lukasz Zwolinski's header, but Vedad Ibisevic pulled the Berliners back on level before the break. In the 70th minute Salomon Kalou won his team the three points as he slotted a penalty in.
VfB Stuttgart 1 - 1 Hannover 96

Round of 32, 1st leg
Saint-Etienne 2 - 2 VfB Stuttgart
Hamouma 40' pen, Clement 51'
Wood 56', Dzsudzsák 88'
Romain Hamouma put the home team into the lead from the penalty spot late on into the first half. The lead of the French side got doubled in the 51st minute with Clement's powerful shot into the bottom left corner of the net. Fortunately Bobby Wood pulled one back only five minutes later, and a few minutes before the full time whistle Balázs Dzsudzsák equalised from his compatriot Nemanja Nikolic's pass.
FC Augsburg 1 - 2 VfB Stuttgart
Esswein 37'
Selke 6' pen, 51'
Round of 32, 2nd leg
VfB Stuttgart (2) 0 - 0 (2) Saint-Etienne
A well-fought goalless draw was enough to secure our place in the round of 16 after we managed to score two away goals in the first leg. We will face the Dutch team Feyenoord in the next round.
Werder Bremen 2 - 1 VfB Stuttgart
Ujah 50', Bartels 61'

Nico Elvedi broke his ankle and will be out for three months.

Round of 16, 1st leg
VfB Stuttgart 1 - 1 Feyenoord
Nikolic 88'
Immers 12'
Lex Immers put the away side into the lead 12 minutes into the game with a cross that flew right over Timon Wellenreuther and into the net. As a consequence, our young keeper got taken off and Ramazan Özcan stepped between the posts. We then fought well and hard and finally in the 88th minute equalised. Feyenoord's keeper passed the ball right to Nemanja Nikolic, who then curled the ball around the goalie.
Mainz 05 0 - 2 VfB Stuttgart
Selke 52', pen, 59'
Round of 16, 2nd leg
Feyenoord (1) 0 - 1 (2) VfB Stuttgart
Selke 53'
Our winter signing Davie Selke shined again as he decided this match-up in our favour with his goal! Bobby Wood played the ball across the Feyenoord goal and Selke just shot the ball into the net effortlessly to win us the game. We will play against fellow Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund in the quarter finals.
VfB Stuttgart 3 - 2 Borussia Mönchengladbach
Zwolinski 9', Wood 23' pen, Nikolic 52' pen
Hazard 13', Drmic 31'
Lukasz Zwolinski scored early on to put us into the lead, but Thorgan Hazard equalised under five minutes later. We then took the lead again with Bobby Wood's converted penalty, but Borussia's Josip Drmic equalised. In the 52nd minute Nemanja Nikolic converted our second penalty of the game to secure the three points. Borussia's Drmic had a chance to equalise the game in the 75th minute, but his penalty was saved by our keeper.

Quarter Final, 1st leg
Borussia Dortmund 2 - 1 VfB Stuttgart
Mkhitaryan 43', Reus 62'
Selke 76'
This was a very even game but at the end Dortmund were more clinical and managed to come out on top. Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored first for them a few minutes before the break with a powerful shot from the edge of the box, while Marco Reus doubled their lead after the hour mark. In the 76th minute our young striker Davie Selke managed to get an important away goal to keep our hopes alive.
Serey Die got injured and will miss 3 months of action.
VfB Stuttgart 1 - 0 Hamburger SV
Kempe 77'
With this win we secured our place in the Champions League next season.
Quarter Final, 2nd leg
VfB Stuttgart (2) 1 - 2 (4) Borussia Dortmund
Dzsudzsák 27' pen
Kagawa 75', Castro 86'
And that's how our Europa League campaign came to an end. We had more chances than our yellow opponents, but it wasn't enough as we wasted most of them. Dortmund were more clinical than us and that's all that matters.

Our keeper Wellenreuther had an amazing game in goal, saving nine of Ingolstadt's ten shots. Three of those saves came during a very short time period as Germany's future number 1 goalkeeper saved three consecutive shots in under ten seconds.
VfB Stuttgart 2 - 1 FC Bayern München
Neuer OG 25', Nikolic 66'
Müller 4'
What a better way to end a spectacular season than by beating the league winners? Things didn't start off well for us as Thomas Müller tapped the ball into the net only four minutes into the game. We fought hard, though, and as a consequence Manuel Neuer hit the ball into his own net from a curling corner kick. The Bavarians started to control the game more as it went on, but in the 66th minute Nemanja Nikolic broke free on the counter attack and drilled the ball past Manuel Neuer into the bottom left corner of the net.
Nico Elvedi made his first appearance after his injury in this game.
Bobby Wood went down with an LCL injury and is ruled out for three months.

My Thoughts
What A Season! - We had an amazing season in our first year back in the top flight! As I mentioned in previous updates, the season was actually too amazing, but at the end I didn't manage to turn it around. Finishing second in the league and reaching the Europa League quarter finals is just too good for a newly-promoted side, but there's nothing we can do anymore. Getting eliminated by Hannover in the round of 16 of the DFB Pokal was very disappointing, though.
The Season of Hertha - Hertha were going strong in third in January, but from there they started falling down the table all the way down to eighth place where they finished season. I think the reason for this is that the Berliners sold both of their 75+ ovr keepers and were left with a mid-50s overall keeper. What a shame.
Player Performances - Davie Selke, Ramazan Özcan and Balázs Dzsudzsák were just some of our players who did a great job this season, but more of this in the upcoming squad review update.
Transfer Plans - Our defensive midfielder Serey Die has announced that he will be retiring at the end of next season, so that is something we will address in the transfer window. Furthermore, our right-sided midfielder in our midfield diamond, Christian Gentner, is getting older and starting to decrease in stats. This is also something I will look into during the transfer window. Other than that I'm very happy with the squad, although I'm looking to replace some rotation players with better ones.
Transfer Budget: €42,500,000
Wage Budget: €200,000

League Match 24
Kayserispor - Gaziantepspor (1-1)
Abuda 6'
Stojiljković 71' (pen)
Thiam 45'
Diego 65' (Bruised elbow, out 8 days)
Not a good enough effort from us against a mid-table team we should had taken care of. We took 7 shots (4 on target) but only scored on our captain's penalty kick. Admittedly the early goal off a header by Abuda changed the game a bit, but I wasn't satisfied with the result given the effort the guys put in.
League Match 25
Osmanlıspor - Kayserispor (2-2)
Güven 28'
Türüç 35'
Pınar 45+'
Ponce 85' (Biseswar)
Ezequiel Ponce continued to show his value to his in this second half of the season by scoring on a header off a Biseswar corner kick just seconds after subbing in for an exhausted Peñaranda. Osmanlıspor's contention for a top-5 spot this season is real and they slightly outplayed us, edging us in possession (53%) and shots (6/4 to 5/3), so you could say we were a bit lucky in this one although we earned our goals as well.
League Match 26
Kayserispor - Sivasspor (1-2)
Kaş 60'
Gülle 88'
Türüç 90+' (Stojiljković)
Often in rivalry games placing in the standings goes out the window and this was one of those times as Sivasspor controlled the ball (56% possession) to nearly hold us scoreless and managed to score on their two shots on goal. With only one more game to play this month it's officially been a rough March for us.
League Match 27
Kayserispor - Kasimpaşa (1-0)
Çağlayan 57' (Peñaranda)
Well, at least we can claim that twice this month we managed to get a good result despite being outplayed. Kasimpaşa had 8 total shots to our 3 but were only on target less than half of the time and Oğulcan Çağlayan came through with a clutch goal for us off. Peñaranda showed some savviness by realizing Çağlayan's defender was cheating off the Turkish midfielder to cover him and the Venezuelan simply tapped the ball in Çağlayan's direction who ran it into the box to take a potent and unstoppable shot across the goalkeeper.

Review: Wow, after a heartbreaking exit from Euro League I was sure we would take our anger/disgust out on the Süper Lig but March reminded us that while this may not be one of the most highly-touted leagues on this side of the world it definitely is a competitive league and if we want to get that title we're going to have to leave it all out on the pitch each and every time. Bursaspor continues to push for a dream season while Fenerbahçe wants to repeat the late title run they had last season and even Galatasaray is on the outside lurking in for a takeover. With just 7 games remaining on the season anything can happen but the goal is very clear: win the league title.
The Academy
ST - Imtiyaz Ismail (56 OVR, 85-94): This Algerian prospect recently turned 16 and is cementing his status as the best prospect in our academy, perhaps the best striker prospect to ever be groomed by the club. What he lacks in technique (due to his age) he compliments with killer pace (82/75 acc/spd) for such a young player to go along with very good curve (77) on his shots.
CM - Uygar Mert Köse (54 OVR, 80-86): 15-year old from Turkey described as Technically Gifted and who is very agile (79). Shows a lot of promise at an early age.
RW - Shafiq Al Shahrani (53 OVR, 80-86): 16-year old from Algeria with an attacking mindset. We're hoping for development in his pace (71acc/69spd).
Cemal Al-Jurr (47 OVR, 79-89): 17-year old from Algeria who's coming along nicely. He's still very raw but our scout's evaluation of him seems like it was accurate as he continues to show very good potential. He has decent pace (78/71 spd/acc) for a youngster.
LB - Mahmoud Al Farsi (54 OVR, 78-84): 16-year old from Saudi Arabia who's Physically Strong and shows good aggression. Depending on how he continues to grow he might be more of a CB prospect (77 aggression).
LW - Dragen Rennich (64 OVR, 77-83): This prospect from Croatia turned 17 years old recently, growing 7 inches to 5'8" and adding 13 pounds to his frame to top out at 152lbs. He has good acceleration (79) and balance (75) as well as good bend on the ball (78 curve).
LW - Javier Fernandez (60 OVR, 77-83): Now an 18-year old from Venezuela with good pace (79 acceleration, 70 speed) that will hopefully continue to grow. Good competition for other youngsters at this position with the club.
RW - Pavel Župan (60 OVR, 76-82): Now an 18-year old from Serbia with good acceleration (73) and agility (73). He projects as more of a role player in the future.
CAM - Hamzah Al Dalharni (50 OVR, 75-81): This Algerian prospect, now 18 years old, remains raw and his potential is now rated lower than we initially had it at. We're still hoping he'll develop into an useful player for the club.
As show on the roster, Serdar Emir (CM, 56 OVR) and Dragutin Puhovski (LW, 55 OVR) have been promoted at their request. They'll remain mostly involved in practice until we feel they've improved enough to be listed for loan, as neither one is near being ready to contribute to our main squads.
With my job with the Venezuelan NT we got to play the final couple of friendlies before this summer's Copa America. Unfortunately for Juan Manuel Falcón, who had shined with our backup roster in the previous set of friendlies, I couldn't quite work out a spot for him on the roster and therefore it's unlikely he'll be with the team for the upcoming CA.
International Friendlies
Brazil - Venezuela (1-2)
Del Vale 32' (Juanpi)
Allan 49'
Rivas 80' (Otero)
Have to feel very good about ourselves after two friendlies AT Brazil this season without losing either one. A former Kayserispor striker, Gelmin Rivas, subbed in late and strongly won his way to a header inside the box off a corner kick to give us the victory. Coincidentally Rivas was a gut choice by me to keep Falcon off the roster and at least on this night he proved me right.
Ivory Coast - Venezuela (2-1)
Martinez 18' (Juanpi)
Diomandé 28'
Diomandé 39'
Juanpi 42'
Rincon 15' (Pulled quad, out 3 weeks)
Murillo 78' (Broken toe, out 2 months)
Unfortunately we were unable to seal our tour with another victory as Ismaël Diomandé had a couple of really nice plays to turn the score for his side. To make matters worse we also suffered losses to our roster. After a questionable tackle from behind, Juanpi Añor (our starter at CAM), will miss the first game of Copa America. Our captain, Tomas Rincon, should be back and fit for the start of the tournament but speedster Jhon Murillo will be racing against the clock as he tries to recover in time to remain in consideration for a roster spot.
Remaining (April/May) Schedule
4/6: at Galatasaray
4/14: vs Bursaspor
4/21: at Trabzonspor
4/28: at Mersin
5/5: vs Gençlerbirliği
5/10: at Konyaspor
5/20: vs Eskişehirspor
We'll have a much better idea where we stand on this race for the title after three very difficult games against Galatasaray, Bursaspor, and Trabzonspor (last season's runner up). Thereafter the last four games are winnable on paper but as we have seen by now we don't really take advantage of those the way we should.
Time to buckle up. Wish me luck

______________________________
League Match 28
Galatasaray - Kayserispor (0-1)
Çağlayan 69' (Türüç)
We knew this game would be a grind and it played exactly like it, evenly matched throughout with possession relatively the same and each team having 6 shots (3 on target for us, 4 for Galatasaray). Luckily for us Deniz Türüç and Oğulcan Çağlayan were able to create magic with just over 20 minutes left in the game to give us an edge and three very valuable points.
League Match 29
Kayserispor - Bursaspor (1-0)
Çağlayan 52' (Peñaranda)
Peñaranda assisted Çağlayan for a score for the second time in three games and we netter out third straight clean sheet to officially get on a winning streak. Our third consecutive 1-0 win was even more significant as it came against one of the teams in direct contention for the league title with us. I'm really impressed with our defense at this point, getting all of these clean sheets against top-6 teams.
League Match 30
Trabzonspor - Kayserispor (2-1)
Ekici 28'
Stojiljković 82' (Türüç)
Maisonnial 85' (OG)
Biseswar 32'
Arguably the most frustrating game of the season. Possession was even but Trabzonspor's back-four might as well have been a wall - we couldn't get near the box or even get shots off while on the other side Mehmet Ekici had executed a free kick to perfection in the 28th minute and Trabzonspor was almost firing at will (11 shots, 6 on target). After 80 minutes we had only been able to take one shot (off target) and when we finally got a shot on goal we scored and thought maybe we might be able to steal a point given how the game had played out ... WRONG. Just a couple of minutes later a Sefa Yılmaz' shot hit off the post then off Maisonnial's FACE to then bounce in and leave us defeated in more ways than once.
Oh, and Biseswar misses the next game due to accumulation of yellow cards.
League Match 31
Mersin - Kayserispor (1-1)
Ballón 7'
Peñaranda 65' (Cools)
Sığırcı 79'
There were definitely no lack of shots in this game as we had 10 shot, 8 on goal, but unfortunately we were only able to score once to get just a point against the worst team in the league. We played with a one-man advantage during the last 10 minutes but were unable to reflect that advantage on the scoreboard.

Anthony Maisonnial was named the league's Player of the Month for the month of April.

League Match 32
Kayserispor - Gençlerbirliği (1-0)
Türüç 89' (Ponce)
Yet another one-goal victory almost didn't happen even though we were the better team throughout the contest. Gençlerbirliği was barely able to shot twice, once on goal, while we created more than a handful of scoring opportunities but couldn't seal the deal until Ezequiel Ponce found a streaking Türüç coming down the middle of the box who would finally break the deadlock to give us a HUGE victory in the title race.
League Match 33
Konyaspor - Kayserispor (1-2)
Tigiev 18' (Türüç)
Stojiljković 25'
Sissoko 82'
This was a possible trap game for us on the road against a mid-table team but two goals within the first 25 minutes was enough to keep us right on track for league contention.
Fenerbahçe and Bursaspor had kept up with us in the race to the league title and they were matched up against each other for their last game of the season, which Fenerbahçe won to jump to first place in the standings. As luck would have it our last game of the season would be played the day after theirs, therefore we went into it knowing we had to win to achieve our goal.
League Match 34
Kayserispor - EskişehirsporSpoiler(5-0)
SpoilerPeñaranda 25' (pen)
Ponce 49' (Türüç)
Stojiljković 72' (Türüç)
Stojiljković 79' (Biseswar)
Stojiljković 90' (Biseswar)
Tigiev 35'
Peñaranda 34' (Bruised shoulder, out 9 days)
KAYSERISPOR ARE Süper Lig CHAMPIONS!!!! My word, how can I describe an absolute destruction of Eskişehirspor when we most needed it?The atmosphere at a sold out Kadir Has Stadium was OUTSTANDING and I truly believe the energy from our fans carried us a long way. We knew it was just a matter of scoring as early as we could to take off some of the pressure and Peñaranda was clinical with his PK execution as he often has been this season to give us a lead we would never relinquish. Unfortunately for him what turned out to be just a bruised shoulder was enough to force him out of the game and he wasn't able to contribute more but his attacking partners took care of the rest, Deniz Türüç putting the finishing touches on an outstanding 10-game run and Nikola Stojiljković proving he was the right choice for new team captain by sealing the game and the title for us with a hat-trick within 20 minutes.

Review: I'm so excited and so proud of our guys for winning this league title. The Turkish league isn't talked about much but it is very competitive and there's isn't a big gap between the teams once you get past the big three. Two seasons at Kayserispor isn't enough time to assemble a roster that compares to the big three's but we were able to bring in a good number of players to improve the squad and compete for the title, and I consider it a hell of an achievement to be able to hold off a team like Fenerbahçe for the Süper Lig Trophy. We'll move past this season wondering what could had been for us in the Euro League but the squad will get to play in the Champions' League next season and that should help heal those wounds a bit.
A lot of players were key in helping us have such a successful season. 21-year old French GK, Anthony Maissonial, is nowhere near his top potential but did a great job collecting clean sheets in a third of our games. He proved me right for picking him to be our starter over Abdulaziz Demircan. I also thought Oğulcan Çağlayan took a big step in his growth as a player this season, solidifying himself as one of the best Turkish midfielders in the game. Across the midfield from him, Diego Biseswar had a career season doubling his scoring tally from last season. Our MVP last season, Deniz Türüç, quietly had another strong season for us thanks in large part to 3 goals and 5 assists over our last 10 games to help us get a lot of valuable points down a tough stretch. Finally, our striker partners really carried us this season. Adalberto Peñaranda proved his difficulties scoring in the second half of last season were just a temporary issue and he showed his scoring prowess this season, totaling 26 goals between the Süper Lig and the Euro League. His 7 assists in league play earned him the tie break over Rijad Bajić for the golden boot. But as impressive as he was the team MVP has to go to Nikola Stojiljković, who netted double-digit assists in both competitions while scoring 16 goals in total. As much success as this team had this season, they could really make much more noise next season.
All that being said we know of one significant change for Kayserispor going into next season:

FC Twente hire Del Barco as their next head coach
FC Twente, looking to solidify their standing in the Eredivisie after several turbulent years, have reached an agreement with Del Barco making him the club's 27th manager a couple of weeks before the 54th anniversary. Del Barco's coaching career started just before the 2015-2016 season when he became the head coach of the Central Coast Mariners in the A-League. Midway through that season he moved to the MX Liga where he coached Dorados de Sinaloa for a season and a half, and most recently he spent two seasons in Turkey with Kayserispor.
A press conference will be taking place within the next 24-36 hours to introduce Del Barco as the club's next head coach. Reporters are highly encouraged to submit their questions ahead of time for consideration during the press conference.vrabbit

Why FC Twente?
Do you feel the Eredivisie is a step up?
What do you hope to achieve with your new team?
Can you get Twente to become league champions?
Any words for your former players at Kayserispor?Comment

You just won the Turkish league title with Kayserispor. Why didn't you stay with them for a couple more seasons to make them a force to be reckoned with?
You brought Kayserispor into the Champions League. Why did you not decide to try your luck there?-Simppu12-

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
Season 1
The Sky Blues
April 2016
Barnsey sit right in the middle of the table, and today we head to their stadium to kick off the new month. They run a flat 4-4-2 and as per normal we will meet it with a 4-2-3-1 in order to control the midfield and keep their pair of strikers at bay. We have to make some changes to the lineup but we are still able to keep a good amount of first teamers in the mix. I feel good about this one, but playing away can always be tricky.
Barnsley FC 1 - 1 Coventry City
BAR - Hourihane 17'
COV - Maddison 2'
MOTM: Davies
We started off fast with Lameiras unlocking the defense and finding Maddison for an easy finish. Unfortunately that didn't last long and they equalized with a goal off of a rebound. To make matters worse Lameiras was taken out by an ugly challenge and he was forced to leave in the first half leaving us with one less playmaker on the pitch. The rest of the match played out uneventfully and we were unable to get enough creativity to finish off the job. So unfortunately we have to settle for a point and we lose another player as teams seem to have put a target on us to take our players out as often as possible.
We head on another road trip, this one is pitting us against Doncaster Rovers. They sit towards the bottom of the table at 19th and this should be one that we can win. Doncaster are a fan of the diamond formation, but they run the wide version of it that we have a little more trouble against than the narrow one. I elect to use a 4-5-1 in an attempt to clog the midfield so we can knock the ball around in between the spaces left in the center of their diamond. We make minimal changes bringing in Murphy and Jones on the wings after a game of rest and Andy Rose comes back in after injury kept him out of the last one and he slots into his usual midfield spot. The chemistry between Maddison, Gadzhev, and Rose in the middle will be important for this one.
Doncaster Rovers 0 - 2 Coventry City
COV - Armstrong 33', 61'
MOTM: Armstrong
Armstrong was too much for them in this one and they were lucky he didn't grab a hat-trick. His first came after he broke up a pass from the defense and the rest was easy once he was past them. The second came after a long shot from Murphy smashed off the post and fell right at his feet for an easy one and he doubled the lead. Afterwards we settled in, but they gave us two late scares hitting the post twice in the last 5 minutes, but the clean sheet was ours. But still, yet another injury came from this one. Maddison went down in the first half after the defender went straight through him with little regard for where the ball actually was. This is starting to get ridiculous that the refs continue to let this happen.
Wembley Stadium, for the second time this year. It's unbelievable that a third division side like ourselves get to play here, not to mention twice in the same season. Our magical 5-1 win over Tottenham got us here, and now the only thing that stands between us and another cup final is the blue side of Manchester. Their squad is loaded with world class talent and this is absolutely going to be a tall task for the minnows from Coventry. Yet, every dog has his day. Will this one be ours? Manchester City use an interesting 4-4-1-1 formation that acts a lot like a flat 4-4-2 but one of the strikers is switched out for a creative #10. I went back and forth on whether to use 4-5-1 or a 4-2-3-1 for this one, but with the class they possess in their attacking players I opted to have the two deep lying midfielders to help cope with the pressure. The best news is that Romaine Vincelot came to me before the match and told me that even though he had been injured the past couple weeks, I would have to tie him to the goal posts back in Coventry and leave without him if I was going to keep him out of this. So he joins Our strongest lineup we could field with Lameiras also coming back from his injury to take up the position on the right wing. This will be a true fight, and no matter what happens we are going to prove that we belong here.
F.A. Cup Semi-Final
Coventry City (2) 0 - 0 (3) Manchester City
MOTM: Hart
Unbelievable. We took them down to the end, and the only thing that separated them from us was penalties. Their squad, worth hundreds of millions of pounds couldn't take us down in full time. It was one of our best defensive performances that I've seen from this squad and I couldn't be more proud. When the penalty shootout commenced, Maddison sunk the first one and Leutwiler came up with an unbelievable save on Toure's shot and I thought we were going to pull it off. But Armstrong saw his shot saved by Joe Hart immediately after, and Augero's shot evened it back up. Another beacon of hope came with Fleck made his and De Bruyne hit the crossbar, but once again Joe Hart saw that it was short lived and he saved Ricketts next shot. Silva made his to tie it again, and then all hope was lost when Lorentzson saw his shot hit the crossbar, bounce down on the line, and carry out of the goal due to the backspin. Bony buried his attempt after and it was the men from Manchester who began celebrating their trip to the finals. I take the lads back to the dressing room and tell them that there's no reason to be ashamed. We just announced ourselves to the entire country, and everyone knows the the sky blues of Coventry are marching upwards through the ranks of English football.
We played with the big boys this season and came out successful just as much, if not more times than we weren't. This small club, with it's large debt, and new manager have officially announced ourselves as the club to watch. Third division or not, we can hang. Now we move back to league play, which after last game it should feel like child's play. The only downside is that with the matches being as close as they were, we have to rest several players. Colchester I've found, tend to run a 4-2-3-1 and that allows us to move back to our most natural formation of a 4-3-2-1. It feels like it's been a while since we've rolled out this formation, but it shouldn't take much of an adjustment for our guys. We want to use our forward midfielders and keep the ball up in their half and use smart passing to work it around and find the seams. Conor Thomas and James Maddison will be the key to making that work.
Coventry City 1 - 1 Colchester United
COV - Vincelot 52'
COL - Sordell 62'
MOTM: Leutwiler
Honestly, they were better than us in this one. Getting a point was more than we deserved. Leutwiler made a series of stunning saves throughout the match and that was the only reason this wasn't a different result. After a scoreless first half we were the ones to break the deadlock when Fortune found our captain up the middle and Vincelot picked out a corner and beat the keeper. But with the pressure they had been putting on us, theirs was undoubtedly coming soon as well. The one that finally beat us was a sloppy pass that Ricketts got a foot on, but it fell into the box for Sordell and he got there before the keeper could and there was nothing we could do about it. It was a frustrating goal to give up, but it was one that everyone could see coming. And of course in news that has come to be completely expected in these league matches, Adam Armstrong was knocked out of the match with a dislocated shoulder and he will miss the remainder of the season now as a result. I honestly cannot understand how this nonsense keeps happening.
Well that was an underwhelming performance on our side, but this time we get our best XI back out there, minus Adam Armstrong of course. We are back on the road, but Burton sit 17th in the table and it should still be a match we are capable of playing our own style. With 4 matches left in the season and a 5 point lead, it's time to buckle down. Burton play an interesting 4-1-4-1 and we will meet it with a 4-2-3-1. Possessing the ball will be our priority in this one, and we should be able to constantly reset in the back if we feel pressure since they should have a sizable gap between their midfield and their lone forward. Let's see if we can't go out there and get some results.
Burton Albion 0 - 4 Coventry City
COV - Fortune 8', 64', Maddison 45' (PEN), Taylor 81'
MOTM: Taylor
Complete domination. Burton only registered two shots in this one and neither was anywhere close to troublesome for us. Fortune on the other hand, took this his chance with Armstrong going down and he put on a display. He opened the scoring with a stunning goal and added another in the second half on top of that. Maddison slotted in a penalty in between those and Fortune caused havoc again in the closing minutes drawing a free kick just outside the box that Taylor stepped up and knocked in. And our pace of an injury per game continued of course with Ricketts leaving due to a bruised elbow. Luckily this season is coming to a close and we shouldn't have to endure this for much longer.
Five points, three matches left. Each match is important at this point since it could be the one that sends us through as league champions pending on Wigan's results. If we could be lucky enough to close out this month securing the title then that would be amazing. The schedule works in our favor as well and we have 2 of those 3 at home, starting with Chesterfield. They run that 4-4-1-1 that Manchester City used against us, and considering we had a great performance against them, I see no reason to change up the 4-2-3-1 that we used for that game and for the last one as well. The only change in the lineup will be Martin in for the injured Ricketts. With a little bit of luck, the last 2 games won't mean anything.
Coventry City 1 - 1 Chesterfield FC
COV - Rose 13'
CHF - Ebanks-Blake 37'
MOTM: Martin
It's a disappointing result, especially with the assault we put on their goal. Rose started us off with a fantastic back heel volley from a corner kick, but Ebanks-Blake found an equalizer in the first half and they shelled up and held out for a draw. We broke them down time after time in the second half, but nothing was getting past their keeper. Wigan won their match on top of that and now we will have to avoid taking a loss in either of these last two matches in order to avoid losing our place.
May 2016
The final month of a long season has arrived. We are primed to not only get promoted, but to win the league in the process. But these last 2 games can still change things, Wigan are hot on our tails trying to keep us from what the board laid out for me to accomplish at the start of this season. First in front of us is Millwall who are third in the table. Having an easier match up would have been preferred but we have to take what we get. Millwall use a flat 4-4-2 and use that strike pair with great success. We will use the same 4-2-3-1 we've been using lately and hope that the two holding midfielders will keep that duo in check. The lineup also stays the same from last match.
Millwall FC 2 - 2 Coventry City
MIL - Morison 25', Martin 84'
COV - Murphy 18', Fortune 83'
MOTM: Morison
Millwall just wouldn't go away. They attacked quickly and often but it was still us that took the first lead when Murphy scored a great near post goal. But it only lasted 7 minutes before Morison found an equalizer and we were back to the drawing board trying to fend off their attacks. It looked like the match was going to end in a 1-1 draw, but then Lameiras found space and picked out Fortune for a tap in and we had set ourselves up to win it! And then seemingly while we were still celebrating the goal, they struck back and Martin equalized to completely suck the air out of our entire squad. And of course it wouldn't surprise you if I told you we sustained some injuries right? Martin and Fortune both took knocks and while Martin should be back for our last match, Fortune looks like he will be forced to miss it leaving us with just a single forward.
It comes down to this, one match with a 3 point lead. Our goal differential all but secured the league for us, but I am not one to settle for tie breakers. I want to win this, and I want there to be no doubt about who the best team this season was. Coventry City are moving up, and I plan to lift that trophy in front of our own crowd to top it all off. S****horpe are the poor bastards who will be coming into our stadium. They are 10th in the standings so they aren't exactly pushovers, but failure is not an option. Their formation is the same flat 4-4-2 and so once again we go unchanged. Our only differences are Henderson and Ricketts on for the injured Fortune and Martin.
Coventry City 2 - 0 S****horpe United
COV - Henderson 26', Maddison 50'
MOTM: Ricketts
We did it! I thought that the board was crazy to expect as much, but we won the title. Wigan pushed us hard down the stretch and despite an ongoing series of injuries we held them off. Henderson, on with our other two strikers out injured, opened up the scoring and then Maddison capped off our season by adding the second. As soon as the final whistle was blown the celebrations began and we hoisted the trophy in front of our fans.
Youth Academy
We rounded out our 3 month Ireland trip with no additions. Either it was just hard luck, or our scout spent all of his time at the pubs instead of watching the young kids play. Either way, we tell him to not bother coming back yet and instead move up north to take a look at Northern Ireland.
