I'm in my third season, which means Hulk is too close to 30 for my liking. Tello seems a good shout, I'll toss him on the shortlist and scout him. Budget should be around 20-25 million, I'm looking to sell Oscar so it's really dependent on how much I get and have left after buying my CB and LB.

playing 15 min halves does nothing but intensify the games. Soccer is a game of 15minutes quarters, 6 of them... you play 6 5min quarters when u play 15 min min halves, thats strategy, thats managing an on-going chess match, something small time limits don't provide.. as you and the cpu just scramble to try n get one goal...
guess my attention span is long enough to handle 30 minute matches, which is nothing compopared to 2k, maddenComment

I thought the same thing until I tried it. If the difficulty is too low it definitely gets boring. If it's too high it gets frustrating. If it's just right you just get a lot of a good thing. Also, I'm not in a mad dash to score when I get possession so I can take my time and build up my play.Last edited by NightmareBooster; 12-16-2013, 09:59 AM.XBL GT: The Kingpin187Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
Crystal Palace Update, Season 1
After switching it up to 7 minute halves, my first game after the summer transfer window was at home to Fulham in the Capital One Cup. After going 1-0 up with Jerome, they played a lovely ball over the top for their forward to chest it down and slot it home. Immediately after I hit the post with Jerome. Going it to half time it was 1-1. Second half began and was on the phone and not giving it my full attention so I consequently went 4-1 down. Despite Morata bringing a goal back to make it 4-2 I couldn't mount a comeback.
Barclays Premier League
I currently sit in the relegation zone in last place with only 1 point to my name, my record so far is 0-1-3. My results so far are as follows:
L 2-0 vs Spurs
L 2-1 vs Stoke
D 1-1 vs Man United
L 3-0 to Sunderland.
Now in September and my team will be looking to gain a few points and get back on track after being knocked out of the cup. We come up against Swansea at home and then we're away to Southampton. At home to Swansea and we took a 3-0 loss through goals from Dyer, Shelvey and Donnelly. After that game I took the difficulty down a notch to professional to see if I could pick up a few points. So the next game is away to Southampton and I decide to switch up the formation to a 4-3-3 with the attacking mid. Hoping for my first win of the season in this one and come out with a 1-0 win, getting my first 3 points of the season with Kebe scoring the winning goal.
That's it for this update. Can anyone help me with this, on world class I can't win, but on professional I won by 1 goal and had 16 shots with 12 on target, whereas they only had 3 shots all game. How can I fix this? So I don't have so many shots and it's more balanced?Comment

Update on Nottingham Forest, season 3
My penultimate Europa group stage game against Napoli (1-1) was a boring affair, but the last game at home against AEK Athens was something. Not only did I win 6-0, but Traore scored five goals in an absolute watershed moment. The kid is class, but the key is to never hold down sprint with him; just tap it to beat defenders.
Unfortunately, Napoli winning their last game meant I had to settle for second in the group. I've drawn Sporting CP in the R32; their front line is Eder at ST, flanked by Carillo at RW and Capel at LW. That's some pace, so I may end up playing four at the back for those two games.
In the league, I've been beasting. Beat Tottenham away (2-0), drew Arsenal at home (1-1), and beat Swansea away (2-1). Currently sitting pretty and UNDEFEATED with 39 points from 17 games (11-6-0), a game in hand over United and Chelsea. Sunderland and Manchester City left in December, and it's on to the second round of league fixtures and the transfer window. Also have an FA Cup tie against Huddersfield Town, which should be good for the kids.
Traore has finally come good and has a boatload of goals in his last five games; nine, I think. In particular, he scored a beauty from just outside the box against AEK to put us 1-0 up. Oh, and there was his smashing, crashing header against Tottenham to secure the win at 85'. I don't think I'll be selling him come January.
Oscar may still go, but it'll be tough. He's been playing at RW while Mackay-Steven fills in at LM while Cresswell is out for six weeks with a torn groin. The little Brazilian created four assists against AEK, all for Traore, and scored the final goal in stoppage time for icing. I'm a little torn here, as Oscar has finally settled in at RW but selling him could make me even stronger and a potential title contender. Eh.
Chalobah's caused late ruckus over his contract, and his agent has said he'll not agree to any terms, the fool. I'll not need to replace him if he goes, though, as academy graduate Myles Ince is already up to 70 with just eight appearances under his belt. Those funds, and a handout from the board in January, could be enough to finance the purchases of a full-back and a centre half. Let's see how it goes.
Bit busy over the next few days with my birthday coming up and getting ready to visit my wife's folks out of state for Christmas, so next update will likely be on Saturday/Sunday and then nothing for a week.Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
@Willy Wonka
Perhaps you're not ready for World Class. After not playing a FIFA game since '11, I played '13 for almost a year before I made started playing on World Class and Legendary. It wasn't until I was consistently crushing the CPU at least 4-0 every game, not losing or drawing a game for entire seasons on Pro that I realized it was time for a greater challenge.
Aside from that I would recommend playing on World Class (probably not in your CM though) WITHOUT sliders. I was playing on WC and then Legendary for a while before I discovered OS and sliders. Having to overcome '13's grimy *** AI helped improve my playing.XBL GT: The Kingpin187Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
Hello Gentlemen,
So I haven't been around for a while on the OS Forums but I have gotten really into this year's CM, GTM notwithstanding. This may be a bit lengthy but figured I would tell the story of the CM I just started with Everton and using 36 created players spread out over 4 teams.
To keep interest in playing the dynasty long term, I started by demoting Everton and Liverpool to Football League One. I dumped all of their players rated 65+ onto Wolverhampton and Bradford City and sent them up to the BPL with Stevenage handling some of the overflow players and Liverpool keeping Gerrard (Seemed wrong to move him). I also gave Leighton Baines to ManU in the interest of full disclosure.
I create 3 starting 11's from 3 different countries using three different formations and put them into place. I also create 3 players for my own team as building blocks. ALL of the 36 players are 18-19 yrs old and 65 OVR with 82-92 Potential, evenly distributed. For Preston and Shrewsbury, I sent all of their 65+ players (Not many) to Swindon. Then I added 11 each players to Liverpool (4-4-2 Diamond Wide), Preston (3-1-4-2) and Shrewsbury (4-3-1-2) and inserted them into their lineups, changing their base formations to match up with their roster. All of the players are hail from 3 countries which makes the World Cup 2018 and 2022 more exciting and surprising (I tried a similar idea to this in '13).
My goal in this career is to build using a few young players and mainly the youth academy. For the purposes of buying scouts, I kept Heitinga, Pinnear, Barkley, Gueye and Jelavic from Everton to sell so I could buy 3 players and hire 3 scouts. All 5 were sold before the 1st Competitive Match and roughly $32,000,000 was spent on scouts Acquired by the end of September

Not much depth after these guys for good squad rotation, may consider some of the non-90 potential youths for depth over the course of the season, although I would like to keep as many as I can in the youth squad until the 5/1 youth progression.
Anyways this is long and drawn out but I hope it is somewhat interesting. I am simulating the 1st and 2nd season to get the youth academy up and running and still have 13 seasons worth of games to play, so I should have an update tonight about season 2 and then I will start playing every game next season which will take much more time of course.Comment

Crystal Palace Update, Season 1
January Window
The transfer window was quite a interesting one. I went in to the window in 9th place. I had West Brom, West Ham, Norwich and Cardiff the games before and with my squad I picked up an easy 12 points which carried me up the table, I wanted to get transfers done so I simmed the January games. My signings are as follows:
Transfers In:
Sau - Cagliari = Pre Contract
Grenier - Lyon = Pre Contract
Ménez - PSG = Pre Contract
Long - West Brom = Pre contract
Transfers out:
Moxey - Hull City = 400k
De Silva - Yeovil Town = 250k
Next Season Targets:
My current targets for next season are as follows:
Jorginho from Hellas Verona
Insigne from Napoli
Andrade from Santos
James from Hartlepool
I am going to play more games next season but I'm looking forward to my new signings so I'm going to sim the remainder of the season and update later on how I get on.Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
Sorry for the double post guys. But does anyone have good career mode idea? I have my current one with Crystal Palace but I wanted another one to run alongside it.
My current choices are:
Athletico Madrid
Everton
Aston Villa
Wolves
QPR (I support them)
Any other options are welcome.Comment

So changing your stadium to a larger one before starting career mode is actually a bit realistic.Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
They say soccer is 90 minutes of tension; the only way to replicate that in FIFA 14 is to play 15 minute halves because it feels like 30 minutes of tension. It does require your undivided attention and full concentration but the payoff is worth it because the victories feel that much sweeter.Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?
Hey guys I'm pretty new to this but I've been playing fifa 14 Manager mode since it came out and I just can't seem to stick to just 1 team. Any suggestions on what teams are fun to use? I've previously used Athletico Madrid, Villareal, AC Milan, and Man U.Comment
